High's Chimney Service

Subsequently, I contacted a third sweep who said the cleaned chimneys were perfectly safe for fires. He suggested some relatively minor repairs. I agreed. He did the work recommended and charged $433.

We did not choose to continue with any service from this company.

I was very pleased with the thoroughness of their estimate. We are waiting for an estimate for another company and haven't decided on who we're going to use yet.

They were very efficient. They did exactly what they said they were going to. They showed up on time. Everybody was very nice and polite to work with. They also did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves.

We sought another estimate from another company who told us the chimney was in good shape and needed only chimney caps. We had the caps installed by the other company. We were very disappointed by High's, which charges for inspections that other firms offer gratis, and by the fact that High's appears to have recommended a needless and costly repair.

It went very well. He had a helper with him. They came 2 days. They cleaned up after themselves. IT looks good. They put a cap on the top of the chimney that opens and closes.

They were very professional and took alot of time to do the job. They stuck to their original estimate even though their was alot more work than what they thought when it came to cleaning the flu. I am very pleased with the work.

It was a good price and they did an excellent job. The craftsmanship was excellent. For the quality of work it was a very good price and I would call them again.

They came out when they said they would. They cleaned up well after they were done with the work they were doing. They gave me a time frame of when the work would be done and they were able to complete it in that time frame. They tried to sell us a chimney lining. They tried to scare us into buying two of these.

I was unhappy that we were at risk for a fire for 1/2 a year! It is my understanding that if we had a fire, the insurance company would not have covered the work as it had not been certified by the county. So not only could we have lost our house, but worst case, we would have been out of pocket for a new house! Also had to schedule additional time for them to come back and do it right. As if all of this wasn't bad enough, I had to deal with their manager (Mike Pinto) who came across as if this was my fault and was basically very confrontational. Instead of being open minded, his initial response was to blame the other company; highly (pardon the pun) unprofessional and very unpleasant!

I had a home inspector come a week after they were here. He told me that the chimney was still filthy and needed to be cleaned. The chimney cleaners was only here for about 10 minutes. They literally did nothing and now my chimneys need to be cleaned again.

Luis Aguilar was scheduled to arrive on Saturday between 1:00 - 3:00 PM. He called at 12:25 and asked if it would be alright to start the job earlier. He arrived ten minutes later, spread a drop cloth, and began meticulously cleaning the fireplace with a sophisticated vacuum apparatus. The fireplace was filthy. The job was completed in twenty minutes. Luis said that it had not been cleaned before we purchased our townhouse in 2006. He recommended that it be cleaned every 1-2 years and that some cracks in the masonry be filled with cement at a minimum. It may need to be replaced in 12-24 months. Luis and his assistant were courteous and very professional. I would recommend them without reservation!

Excellent -- The estimator had a helper with him and they did the flue cleaning on the spot. They also had an opening in their schedule so they started the next morning and finished the job within the estimated two days. They replaced the top 27 courses of brick and replaced the chimney cap and flashing. My husband, who is extremely picky about workmanship and knows something about masonry, was extremely pleased with the quality of the work. They left the work site clean and cleaned our gutters at no extra charge.

They did an inspection from inside the house and said they wouldn't clean the chimney because the liner needed to be replaced. I got two other opinions and neither said the lining needed to be replaced!

Awful -- called them b/c of sound of water dripping in flue. Gene came in and started barking that nothing was wrong, even before I could finish describing the problem. Gene took a flashlight to fireplace flue and reiterated that nothing was wrong. I insisted that he look on the roof; Gene grumbled and reluctantly did so. I asked him to check if fireplaces were venting through the chimney properly, but he refused and said it that was a job for the gas company not him (!). He started writing up the bill -- I could have paid myself $99 to look up the flue with a flashlight. At that point said I needed a chimney cap, and gave estimate for $1000. Outrageous -- I had a cap installed in my previous house out of state (mason and flashing work included) for less than $100. I called this company b/c coupon saying free estimates, but they said I had to have the $99 inspection first. False advertising, lousy service. Spend your $ on someone who will actually do what you pay them to do.

They arrived early on a Saturday morning around 8:30 am as scheduled and went about their work in a thorough and efficient manner. They had to remove the custom made and installed cabinet style fireplace glass doors with screens. They put down protective coverings for the floor and area surrounding the fireplace and boarded up the fireplace to keep debris from entering the living room. They finished the work by mid afternoon. After completion we were shown how to work the new damper. Just this past week we used the fireplace for the first time since the repair work. What a difference - the wood caught fire quicker and easier than in the past, and we see a big difference in the draw up the chimney as there has been no smoke exiting out the front of the fireplace to smoke up the brick surround as in the past.

If you have a coupon for service tell them up front. They did a good job though.

The two-man team did fabulous work. The leader of the group showed true craftsmanship, thinking about solutions as they proceeded with repairs. Even when creating the hole in the basement for realignment, they went about it is a smart manner.

These guys did a good job with my chimney. It had been needing a good cleaning and the lining replaced for some time. These guys came in and did a great job. They cleaned up very well after their work. I was so satisfied with the job. I would definitely use them again. I forget the price, but it was very reasonable.

I was not satisfied at all with the work performed by this company. First of all, their lack of responsibility and their quality of work was not that great. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone especially since they did not have a professional matter.

I was lucky to have them available to me so quickly. To make a long story short, the inspector told me I needed this done quickly. My home was beginning to fill with carbon monoxide. This was a very serious job. They came out quickly for me. They did give me an estimate for $2100 but in the end it was about $2300. It was only higher because we found they had to do more stuff than we originally thought. Other places will try to take you for a ride and they did not try to do that. I mean all others wanted like $3800 so this was reasonable.

They gave me an estimate of $1600 to re-line the flue from fireplace to do items: 1,3&4. I didn't schedule any work to be done, but a month later they offered to do it for $1,100. An hour or so after they had started the work, they found that the furnace flue needed to be replaced, this cost an additional $1,500. Their explanation was that when they generated the original estimate, they were unable to determine that this work needed to be done. Needless to say, this was a whole lot more than I had budgeted for this and although it was quite probably true, I still felt that this should have been determined when they did the original estimate.

Gentleman that came out for an estimate was pretty pushy/salesy. Said we needed to rebuild part of the chimney and there were no other options. Didn't end up using. Found another company with a solution $9,000 cheaper and was very happy with the results.
