Went really well. Their guys showed up on time, they cleaned up most of their messes (demo leaves a lot of dust, which has a tendency to travel), and they finished ahead of schedule with no cost overruns. This was our first reno in our home, so there are things that we would do differently next time, but the work that was performed exceeded our expectations. Ibrahim was responsive to all of our calls and emails, and after about a month of living with the new bathroom we couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Total gut and renovation of upstairs bathroom, installed new tile, fixtures, tub, toilet and vanity, exhaust fan, and painted.

The crew was very professional and arrived on time every day. They did an excellent job containing the debris and cleaning up. The contact Javier was very responsive and accommodating when I had special requests. I would use them again and recommend their services.

Overall a terrific experience and an excellent job. It is a family owned business that cares about its reputation. The price and choice of materials were very good. There was mainly one crew that came - for 10 hours a day, Monday-Saturday. When special challenges came up (like re-routing the sewage pipes hidden under the soffit), there was a different team that came and took care of it. All of the workers were professional, punctual and cleaned up every night. The total job was estimated to take 2 weeks; ended up taking 2 weeks and 2 days. They taped plastic around all the open doorways from the kitchen to other rooms; very little dust got out of the kitchen. One of the important ways to assess a company is how do they respond when problems come up. And in construction problems come up. Most of our dealings were with Oscar, and when we ran into certain problems with the installation, the communications broke down. I called the office, explained the problem and told them to "step it up." I am glad to say they responded terrifically. Oscar apologized, the communications improved and the problems were all addressed. If you run into any problems, call on Javier (who is part owner), who also apologized and helped with many of the design issues. There were some minor design changes during the project (due to the hidden pipes). DMV was OUTSTANDING in dealing with these changes. They stuck with the contractual price and never hinted at adding charges. The quality of the work and details of the job were fabulous. We would absolutely use them again!!
Description of Work: Kitchen remodeling. Replace all cabinets, counter, sink; move lights. Installed tile backsplash. Biggest part of job was removal of soffits, where various pipes and ducts had to be re-routed. We had replaced appliances several years ago, so they had to move them out and re-install.

I noticed a picture/ad for DMV...it was just what I wanted so I called and spoke with DMV and Ibrahim arrived (a day or two later) to see the bath and give me an estimate. Before agreeing (this was my second estimate), I called three references who all called me back and talked with me at length about the DMV crews and workmanship. I agreed to sign, and we selected a date and the work began on time. The crew that came were professional, friendly and easy to work with daily. They covered the entrance way and walk to the bathroom, walled the area outside the bathroom with plastic (protect from dust). This was the routine daily. While the plan was for two weeks to completion, it took a bit longer for: delays in receiving ordered mirrors but mostly because of my scheduling issues. Ibrahim and I communicated on a regular basis via phone, text, or in person. My selections changed as time would go on and Ibrahim was totally professional and accommodating. He even drove to get special selected ceramics in MD (I live in VA). While the crews changed, everyone was professional, polite, and easy to work with. I was concerned when one crew member would say they would take care of this or that the next time...it all worked out. The crews communicated and everything happened as planned. The sign of a good vendor is how changes/reworks (minor things) are handled. I can say that everything was handled completely as we wanted. A few hints: write down the names of the crew each day and what they were working on (tiles, painting etc.). The crew would ask me for my choices on various placements (mirrors, handles, distance between faucets)...sometimes I asked what they would choose...and they told me. It was a good balance between advice and choice. Also, I wrote anything that I asked for or they said was going to happen. This made it easy to keep up with the various specialists/workmen (plumber, electrician, painters). I got to know nearly every one of the DMV crew...all good experiences. The trash was taken away, a few spare tiles and paint cans remained at my request/as per good contractors, reorder (of fan as an example) all handled well. My bathroom looks wonderful and I already asked Ibrahim for another estimate for other items in my home. That probably says it all!
Description of Work: DMV performed a master bath renovation...everything included. The job included: removing all fixtures and all tiles; replacing all (tub, cabinets, mirrors, toilet, towel racks, etc.) with items selected; painting and finishing.

Receive the estimate a few days later as one lump sum, yet the labor and materials were all specified on separate line but the cost wasn't specified for each line item. When I asked for an itemized estimate - I never hear a peep, which tells me the quote was over-inflated and they were trying to hide how much over-inflated it was from me. My bathroom is tiny - $13K is excessive! I know as I work in the construction industry. Ibrahim Zirekoglu was my representative.

Oscar Perdomo confirmed through email a design appointment at my home for Fri 7 pm. I was initially happy that they could meet us on a friday evening and therefore cancelled all plans for friday evening and was waiting in my home to meet the designer. We were waiting and waiting and no one called or showed up. We had cancelled all evening plans for this appointment and this contractor STOOD ME UP. I understand if something urgent came up for the designer that evening but atleast he/she could have called and let me know. This is completely unprofessional and such a bad experience does not allow me to trust this provider with my home's kitchen and bath remodeling project. FAIL!

Interaction with DMV - (B+) This is the second time Javier and his team have done a remodel of ours (master BR previously) though prior to the establishment of DMV. It's obvious that his hard work is paying off as his client base has grown and they've established two showroom offices (one in MD and VA). Depending on the job, Oscar serves more at the front-end of the business (initial estimate and design) but Javier will still provide inputs and guidance on both as needed. Negotiation on cost was straightforward and they also purchased our appliances so that we would get an additional discount. DMV has some nice offerings as it relates to cabinets, tiles, fixtures and hardware as well. Our primary interface was with Oscar and he served as the day to day contact but as things progressed, both Oscar and Javier would communicate with us. On our side it was a challenge primarily due to my work-related travels. My father-in-law and my spouse had to assume the bulk of the oversight while I chimed in via Skype video as much as possible. Five people communicating on any specific job in any industry is challenging, perhaps more so when it's something as personal as a remodel. That said, both Javier and Oscar were patient throughout though in some instances we had small communication breakdowns. The one issue I had was a lack of a frequent site manager who could communicate with our family from a supervisory perspective (rather than via phone/email). Since Javier is spread across multiple sites he was only able to visit a few times over the course of the job (which was nearly 5 weeks start to finish). In some circumstances our requests to Javier and Oscar were not always relayed to the team working the site. Works Performed (A) The finished product is really something special. It turned out even better than we imagined. Our home was transformed into a much more open concept. There are always small items that need to be tended to on a remodel of this size and scope and the DMV team is and has been responsive when contacted for follow-up. I'm sure we'll use DMV again in the future.
Description of Work: Full Kitchen Remodel (not down to studs). Unless noted in parentheses, all items and installation included in cost. Structure - Demo. Closed external door to kitchen (we had two) and bricked external siding. Lighting/Electrical - 12 recessed halogen overhead lights installed. Under cabinet halogen lights installed. Upper display cabinet halogen lights installed. Pendant light (we purchased) installed. 6 new electrical outlets installed. 8 light switches installed. New electrical wiring throughout. Plumbing - New PVC lines for sink installed. New sink installed. Ice-maker water line installed. Flooring - Existing tile was removed down to subfloor. They came on Monday and measured for the countertop. When the contractor came with the contract to sign he said the price did not include removal of the old countertop. So he added $225 to the original price to account for it. They came on Tuesday and installed the countertop. They did a very good job. The plumber came the next day to reconnect the disposal and attach the new faucet. They gave me a very nice sink and faucet. There was a problem but the plumber came back and fixed it. Overall, it was an excellent job.

Brilliantly...see above..But in addition I would like to point out that the crew that worked for them were ALWAYS on time. They were polite, respectful, and left our house each day as they had found it on the first day. They would make any change we requested with out calling "the office".....Never once did our job get delayed because someone wanted approval from "their boss " for a change we wanted to make to our job. How refreshing is that? The fact is, that most days, we had to ask them to leave....because, they would have worked until midnight to finish a particular job. All of the changes that were made were made by us as the job progressed. They never the less were willing to work through the night to get it done. I have been in this trade for 25 years and have never experienced such customer service.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled kitchen with new top of the line cabinets, all new floors and granite counter tops. Also all new Viking Appliances and hardware.....as well as a new glass and marble back-splash. Due to the extreme nature of the renovation, every ceiling light fixture, fans and paint had to be redone. Because of the open nature of our floor plan the painting aspect of the renovation moved throughout the entire first floor. From there we moved to the guest bath room. .The 30 year old pink tile....and yes, there was a pink caste iron bath tub....was also completely renovated. The tiles and tub and existing toilet and sink were removed. A new modern white tub replaced the old tub. New stone tiles lined the walls and the new tub enclosure was replaced with heavy glass. The window surround was also from the stone tiles with the bull nose edge. The old "linen closet" with the shutter door was also torn out and replaced with stone on the walls and glass shelving. The halogen light in the top of the closet reflected through all 6 shelves. The new sink with a granite top made the bathroom appear larger and so fresh and new. The door was replaced with a wood framed glass door. The glass was frosted so that you can't see through the door but it allows light into an otherwise rather dark hallway. I love my new bathroom and kitchen!!!!

DMV Kitchen and Bath completed a full remodel of our master bathroom and I couldn't be more pleased with every aspect of the agreed upon work. They were always prompt, courteous, and paid particular attention-to-detail while working in our home. The first day was complete demolition/removal and this was followed by installation of tile work for shower area, flooring, and applicable grout work. Inspections were completed that were required by Loudoun county and DMV handled this very well. Installation of granite counter top, cabinetry, lighting, mirrors, etc was way awesome to see come together. Clean up of the area was also a daily feature for all of the crews. What I was really impressed with was that there was minor error made in the installation of the counter top and instead of trying to say that it was OK, DMV (Javier) quickly made the decision to replace the entire unit -- This was quite appreciated. I would welcome DMV Kitchen and Bath back into home without hesitation for any future work!!! This is an outstanding team to work with.

From my first contact with Javier, to the completion of the project, it has been an excellent experience. The work crew was always couteous and professional. They paid attention to details with respect to my home. They protected the none work areas and cleaned at the end of each day. The guys were also friendly to my dog (Max). The project was completed as projected and at the the agreed upon price, which was very resonable. No suprises ! Great work ! We would highly recommend DMV and look forward to remodeling our kitchen next year.
Description of Work: Our home was build in 1961 and had the original master and guess bathrooms. DMV completely demolished and remodeled both. They installed flooring, shower, tub (in guess bathroom), vanity, sink, lighting, exhaust fan with heat (love it) which a new electrical line was installed. As well as new knobs, towel racks and painting. The work is beautiful !

An excellent experience! Oscar (designer), Javier (project manager), and ALL of the people on site doing the work were amazing. I had been considering getting my horrible early 1960's kitchen remodeled for quite awhile, and had gotten a couple of other estimates and designs. But nothing really clicked - until I got in touch with DMV (thank you, Angie's List!). Oscar came out and made preliminary measurements, and we discussed what I was hoping to do. Subsequently, he sent a proposal very promptly. The price was competitive and I was pleased with the proposed design. So, I went to the showroom to look at the material choices available. I hadn't planned to sign a contract just yet -- but after seeing the materials available at my price point, and looking at the drawings and talking with Oscar a bit more, I had a gut feeling that I had found "my" contractor for this job. I didn't need to look any further. Here I should emphasize that there was absolutely NO pressure from DMV to sign up; I simply felt that this company was the right choice for my project and, having found them, I was ready to get started. Oscar provided valuable, skilled guidance in choosing materials. Javier's staff did excellent work in making the entire design a reality. From initial consultation and design, to the demolition process, through rebuilding the kitchen - everything exceeded my initial expectations. This is a talented team!! Of special note: DMV's customer service is one of the best I've ever encountered anywhere. Each person associated with this kitchen renovation conveyed an attitude of sincerely caring about the project and truly wanting the customer to be happy. There was one minor communication glitch in the entire project, and it had absolutely NO impact on the results, or on my feeling about the service and the project. A few things really stand out for me as I reflect on the whole experience: 1) when the demo process started, I pointed out where the DSL line was attached to part of the old cabinetry and requested that they try to work around it as I am dependent on DSL for internet connection. I fully expected at least some disruption, but to my amazement, during the demo and rebuild process they were able to keep me connected 100 percent of the time. And they detached/reattached the line onto the wall rather than attached to my lovely new cabinets. This took extra time and thought and concern for customer satisfaction, and is just one example of it. 2) early in the project, and through absolutely NO fault of DMV, the main water cutoff started leaking. Javier looked at it and quickly made a temporary repair to it and said he'd have someone replace the whole cutoff at some point. I said, oh don't worry about it and that I would get a plumber out later on......But, true to his word, by the end of the project the unit had been replaced!! Again, over and above what was required. 3) there were different crews on different days, depending on the phase, and every single person was cheerful, amazingly hard working, and good at what they did. And I appreciated that each day's team worked together really well, even when it was getting late in the day and they must have been getting tired. So, based on my experience, I wholeheartedly recommend DMV Kitchen and Bath. I will definitely be having them out to bid on further projects!!
Description of Work: Remodeled kitchen, which included demolition and disposal of soffits and partial wall, cabinets, flooring, counters, etc. Installed new floor, countertops, cabinets, knobs/handles, lighting, sink, and painted. As stated above, this is our third project with DMV. Our largest was our bathroom and we have now moved on to our powder room. The powder-room had a 60's built-in blue Formica vanity with a bright blue sink. It was so dated Rip Van Winkle would have thought it was old. We had procrastinated for years and could have continued to do so. When we had one of our bathrooms remodeled, we were so impressed with DMV's work and fair price, we decided that we should go ahead and have them redo our powder room. Though much smaller than the bathroom, the transformation in the powder room was just as dramatic. I had trouble finding the perfect vanity, and DMV's staff was always patient and supportive as I narrowed my choice. One great aspect of this company which I haven't seen in others is the willingness of their staff - anyone of staff - to make all aspects of the remodeling process easy. From the onset with selection of fixtures, to scheduling, to completion, each team member is polite and willing to make accommodations. No matter how great the company, remodeling is messy. With DMV, each evening, they would clean-up, and nearly make their presence invisible. One friend, was impressed at how quickly they completed the project - and they do with long hours. My husband found this company through and advertisement in a magazine. I prefer to use companies through personal recommendations. In this case, I'm very happy he took a chance and I recommend you do too!
Description of Work: When you find a company which offers a fair price and which provides top-notch service combined with a high level of professionalism, you use their services repeatedly - as we have. This is our third project with DMV. After completing one of our bathrooms, we had them redo part of our basement and now in this project: our powder-room. Our original powder-room had not been remodeled in 30 - 40 years and was an eyesore. There was no part which could have been salvaged. After gutting, putting in new vanity, toilet and hardware, we now have a lovely contemporary bathroom which has our friends asking, "Who did this for you?" What I especially like about DMV is that not only is there service great, but their consulting services are incredible. So, we are, of course, using them again to remodel our large foyer. They recommended the flooring and made great suggestions regarding the lighting. I'm glad to see that their business is growing; they deserve it! We've had a lot of work done on our home over the years, and this is hands-down the best company we have dealt with. My husband is very persnickety so we've passed up on remodeling projects with other companies. However, with DMV, he just asks, "What do you think we should do next?." We haven't been disappointed yet! We'll come back in a few months and let you know about our next project!

Everything went very well and on schedule with one exception. Instead of installing a swinging glass door on the tub, a fixed piece of glass was installed. However, they replaced it without any problem. They also replaced the sink faucet as the original one was defective. This is the second bathroom remodeling they did for us. Their workers show up on time and try hard to contain the usual remodeling mess (e.g., tile dust). I highly recommend DMV.
Description of Work: Removed old bathroom tile, installed new waterproof drywall, installed marble tile around tub, replaced and installed new tub, toilet, shower faucet, sink faucet, removed old floor tile, installed new tile, painted, installed new light fixture, installed new exhaust fan and light, installed shower door on tub.

We could not have been more pleased with the service we received. We were referred to this company by a family friend that had a good experience. From the beginning, they were very professional. We explained what we hoped to accomplish and were given several suggestions on how to complete the project, and things we had not taken into account, additional electrical circuits, placement of GFI's. The scope of work was defined, and the estimate was in line with or slightly lower than others. The work was done professionally with minimal disruption to our lives. The crew was neat, clean and respectful. They took appropriate precautions to protect other areas of the house from foot traffic, dust, etc. The cleaned up at the end of each day. The work was completed ahead of schedule and for lower than the estimated amount. This is by far the best experience I have ever had with a contractor.
Description of Work: We wanted to custom remodel our Kitchen and Master bath. We had already spend significant time with a designer prior to engaging a contractor to pick the materials/fixtures we wanted because we had some very specific things in mind. We needed an experienced contractor that was willing to work with us to complete our vision, and was used to working with some high-end materials. The project involved replacing existing Corian countertops with marble, as well as painting, installing crown moldings, additional trim, replacing existing hardware on cabinets, etc.

There are no words to describe what such a nice work this company had done on my house. A had a very old kitchen and bathroom from the 60?s, since the first visit they were able to tell me the whole process of the work. They also mention what surprises we may encounter because of the age of the house. They knew what they were talking about, that made me field comfortable since it was the first contractor who gave me more answers than questions, the job was a challenge and they were happy to take it, Sales person was very polite and respectful every time, he always listen to any suggestions I had and made me feel that I was in charge of my project. Overall my experience was the best since I consider myself very picky and focus on detail. The project manager, Javier was excellent and also I should mention that his assistant Orlando was always very cooperative when it came to do any small alteration to the project. Thanks guys, I would definitely hire them again for future projects.
Description of Work: Remove and build new walls, electrical work, plumbing work, ceramic tile, cabinets installation, paint, appliances installation, granite counter tops, backsplash and hardware for cabinets.

They exceeded our expectation (see previous notes)
Description of Work: We've lived in our house for 30 years and have had many contractors in to perform various renovations such as kitchen, basement, bathrooms etc. and have never been totally pleased with the finished product from those contractors who overpromised and under delivered. DMV Kitchen & Bath not only lived up to their promise but exceeded our expectation with the job they performed on our last full bath that was long overdo for a face lift. Mr. Javier Nogales was an absolute perfect and professional gentleman in the way the contract, questions during the remodel and solutions were handled. Their work crews showed up when expected (often parked outside waiting to begin work at 8am) were very courteous and ask about preferences during the remodel as well as cleaning up after the work day ended which was usually around 6pm. I also must say that contact was ongoing during the job asking if there were any question or concerns instilling confidence with this company. This is a company I highly recommend and am looking forward to the next project we're planning. Jim Cottom

A photograph of a beautiful bathroom remodeled by DMV Kitchen and Bath appeared on the cover of a home improvement magazine that came to me in the mail. I had earlier received an estimate that I considered outside of my price range from another remodeling company. I called DMV and made an appointment for consultation. Two representatives came to my home, took careful measurements, and within several days I received a written estimate. Another representative, Oscar Perdomo, came to my home to discuss the project and I was impressed by the prompt attention, the photos of the projects this company had completed, the ideas and suggestions offered to make the remodeling a success. I .I accompanied Mr. Perdomo to several showrooms of suppliers of tile, granite, lighting fixtures, and bathroom furniture to make selections. He also followed up by providing photographs of the lighting fixtures and the vanity to secure my express approval. Work began promptly as scheduled. The team was extremely careful about shielding the house from dirt and dust, laying down plastic wraps and cloth floor coverings to protect walls, furniture and floors, and meticulously vacuuming the area every evening. Although the weather was very cold, they did most of the tile grinding outside in order to minimize noise and dust inside. The work team were experts in their plumbing, tile-laying, and painting skills. Mr. Javier, the Project Manager, and Mr. Perdomo with whom I communicated almost daily by telephone or email, came to my house several times to inspect the progress of the work, and to be sure that I was satisfied. An unexpected bonus was Mr. Perdomo's talent as an interior designer. I appreciated his suggestions which led to my beautiful functional bathroom.
Description of Work: The bathroom was gutted - All fixtures were replaced with the exception of the toilet which was fairly new. A wall next to it was removed in order to install a glass shower door. All of the old tile on the shower and bathroom walls and the floor were removed. A new subfloor was installed. The shower (including the shower ceiling), the walls, and the floor were retiled, with a decorative niche in the shower and a complementary moulding to provide an attractive edge to the wall tiles. A large beveled mirror was installed above a beautiful sixty-inch bathroom vanity. The vanity is topped by polished bevel-edged granite which I chose from a wide selection of uncut granite.A triple light fixture was placed over the vanity. The portion of the walls that were not tiled had to be stripped of several old layers of paint and wallpaper and were repainted. Other woodwork (door and window) and the ceiling were repainted. A new combination heat lamp and exhaust fan, and a separate shower light were installed. Several electrical sockets were moved. New solid brass tissue holder, grab bar, and towel rack were provided. The glass shower doors are of excellent quality and the handles and hinges are solid brass. Necessary changes of plumbing pipes, valves, etc.were made.

In our search for a kitchen remodeling contractor, my wife did much research to evaluate several estimates in terms of prices and designs since we wanted our kitchen redesigned and reconfigured to increase its utility. After several interviews, we settled on DMV Kitchen & Bath. Our project manager, Javier Nogales, was very helpful in that he made many excellent suggestions on new designs such as cabinet types and drawers vs. roll-out shelves. DMV workers arrived on time on the first day in the schedule. During the first two days in the project, we discovered two areas of discolored floor boards in black under the sink cabinet and the old dishwasher. This damaged area caused great deal of concerns to us and, after a discussion with Javier on the subject, the discolored floor boards were replaced. There were some changes concerning types of cabinets and issues of drawers vs. roll-out shelves necessitated by our concerns. Javier again was very attentive to listen to our concerns and implemented requested changes without incurring additional expanse. Despite presence of detailed work order, there were always issues caused by ambiguity and miscommunication in this kind of project. I spent most of the days on which the DMV workers did their job in my house because I wanted to be available to observe in person and to discuss problematical areas to come up with solutions on the spot. I knew that I could not just leave a key in a lock box and expect to see everything installed and finished to our expectation when I came home at the end of the day. Javier was available to consult with us both in person and by phone. Our new kitchen has been thoroughly modernized with a new set of appliances and improved design which increased its utility greatly. I can conclude that out kitchen remodeling project was a great success not only because the DMV team performed very well but also because the client, we, was always available to consult and make detailed decisions. I would recommend the DMV to other people looking for a contractor to do kitchen remodeling. As an example, we have a full bathroom and a powder room under remodeling by the same company, DMV!
Description of Work: We needed to have our kitchen remodeled completely, which involved new appliances: a refrigerator, a cooking range, a dishwasher, and a microwave oven, tiling a large area of an open-air kitchen and a dining room without any walls, installing a complete set of new cabinets, and removing wallpaper, extending soffits, demolishing a pantry, and painting. In detail, our old kitchen was demolished to clear everything out to expose the flooring and repair the base layer in preparation for installing new tiles. Initially, the subfloor was carefully examined for water damages and squeaking and necessary repairs were made. After the old walled pantry was demolished, a new tall pantry cabinet with both drawers and roll-out shelves and a side floor cabinet were installed and a new soffit was built in to maintain consistent appearance with the rest of the cabinetry. The new cabinets were, then, installed; a granite countertop was cut and installed, and a new larger and deeper sink with a contemporary single faucet was installed. Prior to this remodeling project, there was no built-in microwave oven over the cooking range, which made it necessary to install a new circuit for it. We also had old lighting fixtures: a fluorescent fixture in the kitchen and a hanging lamp in the dining room, removed and had eight recessed lights installed. in addition, the new cabinetry was equipped with six under-the-cabinet lights.
