Tim Zastrow was very knowledgable and punctual. The work was performed on schedule and in a very safe and professional manner. The debris resulting from the trimming was completely cleared after the work was done.

I thought that their estimate was high and I never followed-up with them. The price they quoted was $1150 and I found someone to do the same work for $480. They were reasonably responsive and came when I was not around and then e-mailed me the estimate.

Would definitely use Bartlett if I had additional tree work needed. I think they would have done a better job than the company who did trim my tree.

i had a large silver maple in my backyard that died and was becoming a hazard to my home if it fell. I originally scheduled the work the week of August 16th but with the last storm a large branch broke off and luckily did not hit my home. I called Robert at Bartlett and he worked the schedule so they could come out a week early. They showed up timely and got right to work. It took 6 hours and a few times i just knew they were going to hit my house but they always had everything under control and everything went very smoothly. They cleaned up my back yard and the area where they had to bring out the tree to their truck. I was very impressed. I would use them again.

Repair was ecellent. They staked up a leaning tree. The rest of the work was done in "record time" for the price. It was not as trimmed or cleaned as I had hoped it would be.

Bartlett was one of four arborists to view the work needed and provide an estimate. Kevin Carr was the specialist that came out to review the work, provide recommendations, and provide an estimate. Most of the work was straightforward, except for how to handle a very large beech. As Kevin described it, it is a "high risk, low target" tree that was at high risk of snapping at a weak point, but low risk of damaging anything upon its fall. Of the four companies that reviewed the beech, Kevin's plan for how to handle it was the most considered (one arborist simply tried to guilt me into taking it down with a "if it were my family..." approach) and it included thinning out sections of the tree and cabling two sections together to provide support and reduce the risk of damage upon failure. Although Bartlett was on the expensive side, I went with them. It was difficult scheduling a work date, which was frustrating. After receiving the proposal, accepting it, and signing it, it took several emails to schedule the work with someone from their office. It was scheduled for "8am to 8:30am Tuesday morning" with work forecast to take all day and possibly into Wednesday. The four-person team showed up around 9am and got to work. There were two persons climbing trees to remove limbs from the beech and poplar (they climbed in excess of 80 feet using ropes without injuring the trees) and two people providing equipment, removing branches, and providing guidance. They reviewed the scope of work with me and did the work items that were straightforward first. They waited for Kevin Carr to arrive before doing the more complicated work of cabling the beech. While onsite and work underway, Kevin looked at a box elder for me that had suffered some damage and was leaning over to the point of almost touching the ground. He offered to take off the top 15 feet at no charge in order to help it straighten out and recover (I said 'yes' and it looks much better). They finished in a day, but because I could not see the cabling in the beech, I was expecting them back the next day. When they didn't show, I called Kevin and he explained that the cable might be difficult to see, but it was there. He came over shortly and, using a green laser, showed me the cable (knowing where it is now, it is still hard to find). He was happy to do it and I appreciated it. OVERALL I would recommend them to others, particularly for more difficult work. I expect to need an arborist again and I plan to go back to Bartlett.

Bartlett was easy to work with, we had no problems scheduling a consultation and received the written report from it promptly. They were thoroughly professional. However, their prices were 3 to 5 times higher than other (insured) tree experts. As a result, we did not have Bartlett provide the actual services.

We were very happy with their work. They were speedy and did the job well. We didn't have any complaints at all.

I have used Bartlett a number of times since I first called them to remove a dead tree. I have dealt primarily with Tyler Balderson, and he had been superb, not only in insuring that the job is done right, but also in giving advice on things that should be done and on what I can do without them. And additional, excellent, trait is that when I decide NOT to do something, there is no hard sell to reverse my decision. He just presses on with the job. Great follow up.

They removed the fallen limbs. I was pleased with their service; they were timely, prompt, courteous and did a good job.

One of five companies that gave me an estimate. Had the highest price ($400) and most "high tech" approach to the problem. Very knowledgeable and seemed to care genuinely about trees. Bill came by to assess the situation and explain what needed to be done: Ground a steel pole next to the tree and attach the fallen tree with some kind of rope or hook system. For the other tree, he explained that he would use some sort of rod and hook system to stabilize it. Within a day or two, a written estimate was dropped off in my mailbox as well as sent to my e-mail. They gave me the most professional estimate, which included all their license numbers, insurance info. etc. I had some follow up questions, which I asked by e-mail. Haven't heard from them since. Besides that, they had the highest price and used an intrusive method (screwing in hooks and/or bolts to the trunks). I did think, however, that Bill knew what he was talking about and that he cared about trees. He educated me about a few things and got some twine from his truck to do a small spot repair without my asking.

Outstanding. Despite power outages, storm conditions, and unploughed roads, Billy and Bartlett came to the rescue.

There were 3 companies that came out to give me an estimate and Bartlett was the best company among the others. They came in and sent the offer to me the next day itself. I liked the fact that they were very open and they clearly told me what they could or what they couldn't do. They gave me a lot information about the trees even though they weren't chosen for the job. So, I learned a lot about my trees. They seemed professional and straight forward about things. They weren't after my money. They also told what I didn't need, as it was expensive and it wasn't worthy. I felt that I could trust them.

They are excellent however they are a little pricey. I do not think that everything that they do for disease testing is necessary. Everyone is very knowledgeable and they always do a good job. I suggest them for things like tree removal or estimates for finding problems. They do tend to suggest more services than are necessary once they come out.

The company was very patient with us, as part of the work was covered by insurance and the original estimate had to be redone to separate the charges that would be covered and those that were the property owner's responsibility. Also, we had Pepco trim the pine tree that was damaged by the fallen tree and that took some time to be accomplished. In all instances, Bartlett's prices were better than other, smaller companies, which surprised us. The charges for debris removal were way below the insurance company's allowance. The first tree that Bartlett removed was a HUGE oak (I think the charge, including stump grinding, was about $3,600.) The crew brought in a dumpster for the job and used pallets so that our grass would not be damanged. They left the site extremely clean. On the last job, the workers left a food container in the yard. I told our representative, Scott, and he apologized and said that sort of thing was unacceptable and thanked me for mentioning it.

They were good, and I would recommend them.

What I like was the guy was friendly and loved trees. He wasn't like someone who would come cut down your tree. I can imagine using them if it was a different circumstance. They were just too expensive. They were a little slow getting back with the estimate.

While the Bartlett Tree Expert quote was considerably higher than the other quote we obtained, from the first contact we had with them, we were confident that they were the ones for the job. Bill Dunn was out several times (we kept adding on more work to our request) and on each visit spent 20-30 minutes carefully analyzing the situation and taking copious notes. He knew the identity of all the trees that needed attention, and in drawing up the estimate, threw in removal of the dogwood and the tree-like weed at no cost. The crew of five professional arrive promptly at the scheduled time and went to work rigging the trees, roping each branch and limb and carefully lowering them down, trimming the canopies to reveal beautiful new shapes, then cleaning up and leaving behind spotlessly clean front and back yards. The crew leader was receptive and attentive to every detail of our on-site requests and worked smoothly with each of his talented team. We can't say enough good things about our experience and are thrilled with the result.

They preformed perfectly. They did a very good job without making a mess. They cleaned up all the branches & pieces after. They have a lot of equipment & they put it all to use.

My wife and I just moved into a house with about 1/3 of an acre of trees and plantings. The previous owners had clearly invested a lot time in their yard at some point but had let it get out of control in the years leading up to the sale. Scott came to our property and spent a full hour walking us through the yard telling us about each and every tree and shrub in it; he was incredibly patient and very helpful -- one of the best contractors we've used for any part of our house. A few days after the visit he wrote up a plan to fully remediate the property -- taking dead or misplaced trees, pruning overgrown trees and shrubs (basically, everything) and applying some proper fertilizer to get everything back on a healthy track. He was on site the day his crew came to work to ensure they did the hand pruning correctly. There was some bad weather towards the end of the day they were at my place so they came back two more times to ensure everything was done correctly. Scott is very responsive on email and really ensures that things are done right and to the client's approval. Before he came I literally knew nothing about my property. With his help I feel totally in control going forward.

I really like them and the guy who came out! They are very easy to communicate with. They were very professional, efficient, informative, punctual, courteous and neat. I would hire them again.

They confirmed a diagnosis of the problem that I had received from someone else and their treatment worked. My only complaint was that the spray reached some herbs I had growing nearby.

They were very responsive, and came out on short notice. They did a great job and I would use them again. They also cleaned up very well.
