Went very well. Frank called and said the diameters he would have to do were 8 feet for a bradford pear and 5 ft for a maple. Was worried it might cost a lot more than I thought, but the price quoted was very reasonable. They did a good job of mulching up the stump and did a lot of manually clearing of root systems with axes. Well worth the money to get it done right the first time!

I left a message for Frank, and he called back that day to get more details about my work. He was very clear about his policies (one trip, transparent pricing) and experience (tons). He checked with Miss Utility before coming out to give an estimate. Once the Miss Utility info was in, he called back and set up a time to come give an estimate. Frank was on time, spent some time measuring the stumps, asked what I wanted to do with the land after (plant a new tree, landscape over, etc), and asked if I wanted to keep the resulting wood and mulch. He quoted a price I was comfortable with and got started right away. I would absolutely recommend Frank to anyone requiring stump removal and will use him again if the need arises.
Description of Work: I just moved into a new house and there were three HUGE stumps (think ~4 ft., maybe bigger, in visible diameter) on the back of the property. Frank removed all three and enough of the roots that I'll be able to plant grass or landscape over them, as if they were never there.

They did the work exactly as described and in very hot/humid weather. They left the work site "clean" by sweeping the driveway next to the work site and the grinded chips were in the location of the former stumps. The results of stump grinding are the mulched chips that comprised the former stumps and these are left in place. Otherwise there would have just been a hole. Mr. DeBaldo & his son were very courteous and communicative throughout the process and I would certainly recommend them to anyone needing this service.
Description of Work: We had 2 stumps that needed to be removed and prepared in a way that would allow us to replant new trees in approximately the same location. One was somewhat difficult to access due to oter landscape obstacles. Frank DeBaldo & his son came to our home when they said they would, looked over the situation, described exactly what they would need to do, and gave us a price. They proceeded to prepare the stumps for grinding, removed all extraneous material, and proceeded to gind the stumps as described.

I called the company to see about getting an estimate. I left a voice mail, and Frank called me back within the hour. He said that he could stop by later that same day to check out the stump. Frank showed up about 4 pm, quoted what I thought was a good price for such a large stump, and offered to do the job on the spot! I agreed, and in about 2 or 3 hours' time the job was finished. I was happy not to have to spend several days getting a bunch of estimates and then scheduling the work; it was all over with in one day.

Frank and his son came out, looked over the job and gave me a quote. I then asked how much was he charging for just the rootball, and told him a quote from another company. The rootball is huge - 10 ft long and 7 ft tall. He told me he couldn't touch the other price as it was essentially an all day job; I was impressed with his honesty. We settled on a price for the rest of the stumps and he and his son worked all day (8 solid hours) to finish up. They even found 3 stumps that I had missed, and did them for no additional charge. Between his honesty about the price of the rootball and doing the 3 stumps gratis, he saved me about $600. That is a rare deal in today's world. If I have reason to remove more stumps in the future, Frank is the first person I'm calling.

Had a large tree blow over in my yard during the recent storms. After the tree was removed, a large stump remained half in and half out of the ground. I found Frank on Angie's list. If you call, you'll get his answering machine, but he'll call back. Frank came out to the house, gave me a price and went right to work. It took awhile to completely grind out the stump because it was a big one, but he kept at it until he was finished, even though it got dark. When you call, be sure to tell him you're an Angie's list member for a discount. Also, check out his website. (If you don't, Frank will ask why.) If you don't rate him on Angie's list, he'll call to remind you. I wouldn't hesitate to hire this guy again
Description of Work: Frank ground out a large stump from my yard. The stump was all that remained of a rather large pine tree that blew over. (On to my house, in fact, but that's a different story.) The stump was buried half in and half out of the ground with roots sticking out into the air.

Excellent experience with this contractor. Prompt return of inquiring phone call. Promptly came out to view the stump and provide estimate. The contractor arranged for Miss Utility to come out and mark location of buried telephone line that might possibly affect how the job would/could be completed. The contractor worked around our personal schedules to establish the work date. The contractor provided provided outstanding professional service with workmanlike clean up after job was completed. I would not hesitate to recommend this contractor for any stump removal/grinding job.

This guy cares a lot about his work. He removed parts of the "stump" that I didn't even realize were part of the same tree - namely, a big root that ran about 20 feet from the stump. He was a little more expensive than some other stump removers, but I have absolutely no regrets. The last thing I want is to have to do is hire another person to come and remove the same stump. I am confident that won't happen, and am very, very pleased with the service. Thanks!
Description of Work: I had a very large stump removed. The trunk grew in several directions, and the tree had an extensive root structure.

I callled about ten companies and I only recieved call backs Mr. DeBaldo and another company. When I spoke with Mr. DeBaldo about removing the stump he seemed extremely knowledgeable about his job and was the only person that inquired about the location of the gas lines. I was very impressed with this and immediately knew that he would be the person for the job. He contacted Miss Utility and once they came out to mark the gas lines he was able to come and remove the stump the next day. Mr. DeBaldo arrived on time and spent about 3 hours removing the stump. He was able to remove the entire stump. The price that he quoted me was actually higher than the other company that came out but I didn't mind paying the extra money because I knew that the work would be done the right way. Mr. DeBaldo also offered me a 5% discount for being on Angies list, but I decided that his work was above and beyond and that he deserved the entire amount. I would definitely reccommend Mr. DeBaldo to anyone that is need of stump removal services.

Too pushy. WAYYYY to overpriced. Tried to make a straightforward job into a much more costly and complicated job. Over kill and over priced.
Description of Work: The owner seemed knowledgeable and very earnest, but he also was overly persistent to get awarded the job and his price was OUTRAGEOUS. I have had experience with the costs of getting stumps ground and this guy wanted to make it much more costly and involved than it needed to be to get (in my opinion) an adequate result. I have no doubt that no one will do a better job than this guy, but why make things more involved and exponentially more costly than necessary ?

Preparation for replanting on the cul-de-sac in front of our house required the removal of a large juniper stump with roots. It required someone with expert experience since the gas line ran through the area. Frank was the right man for the job. His years of experience showed! He came out, gave an estimate and performed the work the same day. The price was right too.

I called 3 companies from Angie's list. Only 2 called back. Mr. DeBaldo called that evening, saying he would come by the next day. He called the next morning to set the time he would arrive. He then called to say he would be 20 minutes late (a thoughtful effort). He arrived with his son, measured and evaluated the stump. He gave me a price (including the Angie's list discount), which was $90 less than another tree contractor who never followed through. We agreed on the price, and he ground the stump out in about 2 hours. No fuss, no muss. Since we kept the grindings for mulch, he piled up the grindings and filled the hole "so no-one would hurt themselves." I thought he was very professional, did a great job, and had a low price. A very friendly fellow. Even my crazy dogs liked him.

Left message at his 800 number which was returned that evening. Arranged for him to come to do the work the next afternoon. He does not give estimates. He shows up, gives firm price and proceeds to do the job then and there. He called when he was on his way from a previous job. He gave me a fixed price and proceeded to to the work. He was at my house just under 3 hours and worked the whole time. The actual machine grinding is juat a portion of the effort since he is so careful about separating wood debris from dirt and leaving the site in excellent condition. I had a cheaper estimate but it became very clear that he will do a much better job than most contractors and given the time he spent the price was on target. He has a terrrific work ethic and can tell you some engaging great stories/observations if you want to listen. I recommend him most highly, particularly if you care about an excellent outcome.

A 20-year old Bradford Pear bit the dust during high winds, and a large part of the tree dropped. I was able to remove the entire tree with a lot of help from my brother-in-law and neighbor but needed expertise with respect to the stump. The tree was planted when our house was built and, unfortunately, was located within two feet of our underground electric, gas, cable, telephone, fiberoptics, and pet fence lines. As this posed a significant risk, and as I was uncomfortable pursuing this myself, I searched for contractors on Angie's List. I came across Frank DeBaldo and gave him a call after having read through an overwhelming amount of positive reviews. This was key to my decision to ask him for an estimate. While I missed him when I called, he returned my call later that day, and I had a pleasant and informative conversation regarding the tree as well as possibilities for removal and replanting. Unfortunately, I made the mistake to call Miss Utility myself as I believed this to be the proper procedure. As it turned out, contractors are not to work on ticket numbers homeowners call in, but Frank was quick to give them a call the next morning to have the lines remarked and for a ticket number to be issued to him. Miss Utility provided a quick turnaround, and Frank was able to meet me at our house in a timely and agreed-upon manner. He evaluated the situation and provided an estimate for removing the stump which I deemed reasonable considering the work and danger involved. He also offered me the Angie's List discount without my asking for it. We agreed to have the stump ground down below grade but not to the point where replanting would be a possibility. This was a joint decision based on his recommendation as utility lines are too close to the site. Planting a new tree would have introduced a similar situation down the road. After having approved the estimate, Frank and his son test dug around the stump to ensure utilities were where they were marked as there is a variance depending on county. They set up a screen on all sites to prevent the majority of debris to affect the nearby garage, our neighbor's car, etc. I witnessed little debris being able to pass the screen and appreciated the concern for property. The stump was ground down several inches below grade and properly back-filled with the newly-gained mulch as to not have an open crater that could be a danger to anyone. Soon, we will use this mulch throughout our yard, replace the crater with top soil, grass seed, and straw, and the hole will be forever filled in and covered properly. They properly cleaned up after themselves, including raking wood chips from our front yard onto the piles as well as using a leaf blower to clean our driveway. After removing his equipment, which left no marks in our yard, only a pile of mulch was left where the stump used to be. Frank and his son did an outstanding and safe job. Throughout the process I got the impression of an honest, stand-up gentleman, who relies on and appreciates his customers' satisfaction. Should I find myself in another need for a stump removal, my call goes to Frank.

Needed three large stumps removed from an area that we are clearing for a garden. I called Frank based on Angies List recommendations, and he was very responsive. On the phone, he asked a lot of good questions about where the stumps were located, where gas and electric lines are running, and logistics like fitting his machine through fence gates. He told me that he comes to give an estimate and is ready to do the work the same day. He arrived to give the estimate a couple days later, which I accepted, and he worked for several hours. In addition to the three stumps being ground out, Frank noticed some very large surface mulberry roots in my yard, coming from a stump in my neighbors yard. This is a new house to us, so I didn't have a good sense of the yard yet, and he showed me that these roots were quite invasive and large and potentially damaging to a brick patio we have. He quoted me about $150 more to dig out the largest surface mulberry roots he could get at, and I also agreed to that, and he did it. He doesn't haul his debris, but he did stack everything neatly and I was able to bag it no problem. Don't know if he is really the cheapest out there, I didn't check, but I felt that he did a very through job and was knowledgeable about trees. Very good service, wouldn't hesitate to call him again.

We had an old chain link fence that had a tree growing around it. When my husband and I decided to get or fence replaced with a privacy fence, I knew we were going to need that "weed tree" cut down and the stump ground. When the fence company called and said that they had a cancellation and could install our fence in five days I worried that there wouldn't be enough time to have the stump removed. I called Frank early Thursday morning and he rearranged his schedule to be at my house that afternoon. He was efficient and knowledgeable especially about tricky situations like those involving a chain link fence inside the stump. I am glad to have been an angie's list member because it helped me find Frank and the stump removal company. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing stump removal.

Excellent. From start to finish, I was notified how the job progressed. I wouldn't hesitate using this company again and again, but I don't have any more stumps! Finding and hiring companies like this are exactly why I joined Angie's List.
Description of Work: Several months ago I cut down a three limbed tree. The only problem...the stump. I tried and tried, to no avail. It beat me, bad. Along comes Frank from "My Stump" and well, there goes my problem. In an afternoon, while I was at work. Once they were done, they cleaned up the yard and filled in the hole. Simply put, I couldn't have asked for better service at a decent price. You REALLY ought to seriously consider this company if you have stump "issues".

My home had 6 stumps located in various locations of various sizes in my front and back yard. I called "A Stump Removal Co." to do just that, remove my stumps. (SMILE) I had 3 stumps in the front of my house at the foundation and 3 scattered in my back yard. Frank DeBaldo and his assistant arrived within the timeframe that we discussed and we toured the stumps on my property together. Frank is very knowledgeable, personable and explained the process he would use to remove the stumps and examined each stump to see how the removal could be handled. I'm not an expert on stump removal, but I will say that it is hard to even tell that any stumps were in the front of my home. Frank DeBaldo left my the work area clear and his pricing was perfect for me. If I ever need any more stumps removed I AM DEFINITELY calling Frank DeBaldo at A Stump Removal Only Co.

He came out and we were very satisfied with him. We would use him again if we needed to. I feel that he was friendly and one thing that we did really like was that when he came he gives you a price and does it right then. He doesn't reschedule it. It's not like it's two separate deals like it is with a lot of people. If you like his price, he does it right then because he comes with his equipment. That was very convenient because we didn't have to schedule another time for him to come back and do it. You only have to be home for the estimate so then you're only working around him one time. We thought his price was fair.

I called Frank one late weekday afternoon and he got back to me very quickly and we talked about our 2 stumps in the backyard. He came out 2 days later right on time as planned, assessed the situation, and gave an estimate with which we were happy. He and his son then got right to work and were done a few hours later with no problems. Frank has a real passion for his work that is very obvious. I think our jobs were relatively straightforward compared to other things he's taken care of but we wanted to go with someone who only does stump removal and who knows how to deal with any unforeseen problems that may come up. Be sure you mention you found him on Angie's List when you first contact him. Also, their equipment takes up most of the space in their truck so they prefer not to take away the debris at the end of the job and they're very upfront about that (though they will do it for a small fee if you wish). This was fine for us because we put some of the mulch-dirt around some trees and flower beds and put everything else in our back hedgerow. They were very neat about separating out the large roots from the mulch-dirt and really had everything very tidy at the end.
Description of Work: Took care of 2 stumps in our back yard
