All went well. John was spot on with his estimate of 2 hrs. He was on time, very courteous, started working right away and was efficient by switching between two projects when one needed to dry. He also told me what I could do afterwards (how to block water stain on drywall using Killz, what to do before painting the patched drywall, etc). He also gave advice on some other projects I asked him about. He explained what materials I should get and said those are things I could do myself and didn't need to call a handyman. Very honest person. This was his second service visit. I was happy with how the first visit went, so I called and scheduled his second visit. The office folks are really nice. When I called the first time Ed spent some time with me on the phone to understand clearly what the problem was and guided me to check a few things before he would schedule John to come out. Their price is fair, not cheap but quite reasonable compared to others.
Description of Work: 1- Repair a drywall with patch 2- Fix leak in outside faucet pipe and patch drywall
I called and spoke with the woman who answered the phone. She was very nice and polite. She answered all of my questions and gave me a rough estimate based off of what I was looking to do. She explained exactly how the pricing worked. (I would like to say that 15 minute increments is amazing!) They scheduled quickly, even with the holiday season. The guy who came answered all of my questions and gave me some great advice. I do have to say that the estimate was way off. If I had him complete everything I was looking for then I think it would have taken much longer. However, that being said, I was not very accurate in my description and when you look at rotten wood it really is hard to judge just how much has to be changed. I would absolutely use them again for many different types of projects. They do charge a minimum so make sure you have enough work to make it worth it.
Description of Work: They fixed the rotten wood around my window and replaced the decorative molding.

To fix 7 curtain rods the guy took more than seven hours, it is not acceptable. Next day myself fixed the rest of the rods (ten rods) with in two hours He spoiled my dry wall too. The person who came to do the service is a old man and his hands are shaking. The service is very bad, I will never get any service from them again. He took long time to make holes on the wall. The guy took one hour and 30 minutes to get nails from the home depot which is 3 miles away from my home. The overall service is worst.

A friend told me that a tire cleaning product would restore the appearance of faded plastic shutters, so I phoned Handyman Matters late on 5/23/14. The owner called early Tuesday morning after the holiday weekend. After discussing the job, he estimated it would take about an hour, and said someone could be at the house to do it at 10:00 AM the same day. Mike arrived at 9:30, finished up by 10:30, and took the time to discuss a possible future job with me. The price was $120 less a $30 discount for Angie's List subscribers. I'm extremely pleased with Handyman Matters and expect to use them again in the future.

1) The person came out and estimated two jobs: one small (job #1), and one larger. Friendly, professional, on time as scheduled. Answered all questions I had at the time and did not make me feel bad for asking. I paid $40 service fee (standard) and $80 for estimate ? the $80 can be applied to the upcoming job. 2) Job #1 (door replacement) required purchase of new door. After the estimate, I followed up with the Handyman Matters (HM) Office regarding the new door per their instructions. I stated preferred style, color, material, etc. after research and discussion. HM offered to use my credit card and buy direct on my behalf (since they had CC# on file from $120 payment above) so as to avoid 30% markup they said was required if they purchase the item on their own behalf with their account. They said this was standard policy for their business. I had never heard of this practice. They gave me an estimate of what the item would cost ($170) and I approved. 3) The date of job #1 had to be rescheduled due to some personal matters that the scheduled handyman had to take care of. HM office was very apologetic. They rescheduled to a date that would work for us. 4) However in the morning when the rescheduled job was to begin, received call from HM Office asking for more information regarding the door to be purchased. I politely stated that I had already given this. They acknowledged this and apologized for not having kept the earlier information on file and for not having passed it along to the scheduled handyman. 5) Handyman arrived late on the rescheduled date for job #1. This was because of issue above and the fact that the new door was not available at the Home Depot where they usually get items from and they had to go to another store. Presented me with bill for purchased new door; item cost was just slightly over the estimated cost from earlier discussion ($20). 6) Job estimated to take 3 hours; it took 4.5 hours. Some additional work and parts were needed after the old door was removed; as far as I can tell, these were necessary ? just not originally estimated. Since I was present, I asked about extended length of time, and I?m unsure if I was going to be notified had I not done so. The bill charged for 5.5 hours as the pickup time for the new door was also included. I didn?t know that ahead of time. Also I thought the door and old parts would be hauled away, but they were then left per my instruction once I learned there would have been an $80 dump fee plus other fees (mileage maybe) that I didn?t know of. Paid the remainder of bill; used Angie?s List coupon. 7) New door is better, but I need to do some follow-up caulking, and the installed pan juts out a bit.
Description of Work: Installed a new exterior door
I called them and I told them I just came back home for a week and I needed them to clean everything and they did that well before my deadline. They were able to clean and bleach the molds in downstairs and in the bedrooms. They move up the carpet, put the drywall up, affix the plumbing, knockdown the wall, and they painted my whole house. If I can give them an A+++, I will.

I was immediately impressed with the knowledge and skill of the craftsman. He was able to identify the location of the leak that two other companies were unable to identify. He proceeded to repair the leak and the bathroom ceiling. Both the bathroom and the doorframe were completed in a very professional manner. The workmanship was exceptional. Both the employee and owner were in constant communication with us and we felt confident that all of our concerns were addressed.

I spoke directly with the owner of the business, he was very thorough, took plenty of time explaining (based on my explanation and some images I supplied) what he thought the problem might require. He explained when I could expect the workman to come to my home, what he would do, and approximatly what the cost would be, if the problem was what he thought it might be based on our discussion. When the handyman came out he gave what i considred a very reasonable price and completed the repair in a very short time. There was some discussion of other repair issues with my property, yet those discussions were initiated by me, and the gentleman never once tried to up-sell me. The business owner called me back later to confirm the handyman's arrival. I also received a verbal estimate for some other work i had asked about on the spot. Some time after the completion of the repairs and after enough time had passed for me to observe if the issue had been corrected, i received a follow up phone call from the gentleman who wanted to know if the repairs had corrected the leak, which they had and continue to do so. I had received several estimates to complete this repair prior to choosing handyman matters. The other Estimates i had received were all much more expensive then Handyman Matters final bill, the closest of which was still higher by over $500.00! The real selling point was the fact that the business owner actually listened to my concerns all the while extending me some basic courtesy and respect. He sold himself and his reputation, something the others did not do, more so seeming to assume I would just choose them because i was in need and they were there. Several of the businesses i had called simply did not show up as agreed and did not feel it necessary to just extend me the courtesy of a phone call to let me know they would not make it. This company is perfect for those jobs which you cant just pick up the phone book and look under Plumber, Electrician, Carpenter, etc, although I've no doubt they could handle those jobs as well, my point is they can and will do the work which requires a "handyman". I am pleased i found them when i did, they saved me lots of $ and grief, and that along with the professionalism, courtesy, and reasonable price are why I would (and will) be sure to use this company again the next time a maintenance issue i either can't or don't want to do myself arrises. There is certainly a need for this type of service by todays homeowner. To sum it up, they delivered quality service, when i needed it, without the insult of an overpriced estimate.
Description of Work: They had to access an area above my garage door and over the top window of the dormer to my bedroom sitting area to determine the cause, then repair a water leak into our bedroom. Then they cleaned out the old caulking, applied some backing, and reapplied some caulking to stop a leak above my bedroom dormer window caused by worn out calking. While this sound like a minor repair, it was compounded due to the location being only accessible by ladder approximately 28' off the ground and an area just under the 18" overhang and above the half round window, which would even have been difficult by scaffolding due to the dormer sitting back about 3' from the gutter and the warm wall of the garage. the logistics were difficult to say the least. may have done it myself except for the access concerns.
