Rich Cochrane and his crew did an excellent job. From the very beginning, visiting our house and providing an estimate, to the last day, when he returned personally to clean the stairs carpet and clean up the garage where materials had been stored, Rich was punctual, reliable, flexible, and communicative. I give him very high marks for his professionalism and customer service orientation. The work done was great and it moved along at a decent pace in spite of horrendous weather, many very cold days and a lot of snow. They basically demo'ed each room and put in ceramic floor and wall tiles, new baths and toilets, new lighting, fans, medicine cabinets, mirrors, working from start to completion on each room separately. They kept the work site neat and removed the materials they'd taken out each Friday. They rolled with the punches when they ran out of tile that I had purchased, simply reordering themselves and adjusting the schedule accordingly. The workmanship is excellent; the bathrooms look great. All of the folks who came to the house were very pleasant and courteous, and all were attentive to not letting our indoor cats slip out the door. Rich gets very high marks for his daily communication by email, text, or telephone, offering precisely the kind of open dialogue and attention to scheduling detail that can make (or break) a project. Their price was very reasonable. We hope to contract with Cochrane Construction do additional work on our aging home.

Rich Cochrane responded very promptly to our request for a bid to remodel our basement. He was thorough in his analysis, precise in outlining the scope of work and professional in every way. While we did not select Rich to do our job - pretty much a coin toss - we will keep him in our resources file and recommend others to contact him for a bid on any remodeling needs they may have. We are confident that had we selected Rich, the quality of his work would have been superb and that he would have been professional to work with.

I had a big basement project and saw that Cochrane Construction had great reviews on Angie's List. I called the listed phone number multiple times and left messages. The voicemail belonged to Rich and no one EVER called me back. It's been over 2 weeks now. This is extremely POOR business practice. If someone is this disorganized, I do not want them working on my home.

Rich was great. I got his name as a recomendation from a friend who also had her basement done. I got three quotes, all were comperable I just liked Rich the best. He does a lot of basements along with other remodeling. For us it was a basement with full bath, laundry room, office and great room. Everything was done well, on time and on budget. I would definitely hire him again.

Terrific. Rich is very responsive and his crew highly competent. He helped us think through the design and placement of plumbing to keep the cost down. Rich was in touch with us each day and always asked for input whenever there was a decision to be made. We knew who was coming when and what work would be done. They cleaned up at the end of each day. The schedule was extended only slightly. We had extra electrical work done and some additional work on the exterior. It is going great and he is doing the work now. He was very straightforward and everything that he did was very positive. He was very responsive and his price is reasonable. I will continue to use them.

Rich gave us the confidence from the start that he was an honest broker, in that he was not afraid to point out potential challenges during the estimate process or propose shortcuts that would allow him to lower his estimate; he also provided low/no cost solutions to potential problems. I felt good about his final estimate since it was just below those of two other contractors, and he stayed on budget. Best of all, Rich is very responsive, usually getting back to us within a couple of hours with answers to our questions or concerns, and he would personally make trips to pick up last minutes supplies when called upon. He was also very flexible with the basement plans and is able to change direction at a moments notice, whenever we had a change of plans. In summary, we are very pleased with our business relationship with Rich, and the final results of the basement remodeling, and plan to call on Rich again should we have any larger projects.

Rich arrived promptly at our appointment time and did a thorough evaluation of our basement. Since we don't have any experience with this type of renovation and really didn't know exactly what we wanted, Rich patiently talked with us about some of the possibilities based on what we did know we wanted (for example, we knew we wanted to build 2 separate rooms with closets, etc.). He made helpful suggestions, was a consummate professional, and at the same time was friendly. Rich gave us his estimate/proposal in a very reasonable amount of time after his visit and it was professionally written with a diagram. The only reason we did not select Cochrane Construction & Design for our basement remodeling is because in the weeks following Rich's visit we discovered waterproofing issues that complicated the process and required waterproofing intervention. The company we selected for our basement project has extensive knowledge and experience in basement waterproofing and because of that he proposed work that addressed the structural issues we have. Next year we plan to renovate our kitchen and bathroom and will definitely call on Rich for an estimate. We truly hope it works out for Cochrane Construction & Design to do that work because we are completely confident in the quality of work they would do - it?s clear they take pride in their work.

Things went well and he is great to work with. His work turned out fantastic and his price is average. He is not the cheapest person you can use but he is trustworthy, reliable and does good work.

Cochrane Construction was chosen over three contractors that came in to price the work for our basement. Of the three, Rich Cochrane, owner and craftsman/carpenter was the only one who was open to working with us through multiple designs until we decided on one that met all of our requirements and needs. To help us with making the decision, he provided the various floor plans with dimensions and 3D mock-ups so we could get a better perspective of what the rooms would look like once built. Their bid was truly reasonable based on the overall scope of the job including the additional change orders that came along the way. Words can not truly describe how pleased my wife and I are with the work that Rich and his team did. Our basement is a fantastic living and entertainment space. Everyone who has seen the job that he and his team did are overwhelmed by the look, feel and the attention to detail as well as the overall craftsmanship of the work. Rich made sure to address any little tweaks that we noticed along the way in order to ensure we were 100% happy. Additionally, Rich mentioned at the completion of the job that he would need to come back 6 months later to check on the caulking of the crown molding because, based on his experience, he expected it would expand and shrink through the winter and he wanted to make sure he fixed any gaps at no additional cost. Rich and his team treated my house as if was his own. He was very mindful of the areas where he and his team were not working and made sure to lock up and re-arm the alarm when leaving. Additionally, he treated our two cats with the utmost respect - he greeted them when he arrived each day, he and his team ensured they didn't venture into the construction area, and he always made sure they were visible prior to leaving the house - I think he fed them a few times as well. ;-) Overall, the work that Cochrane Construction did in our basement was fantastic. I highly recommend them and will look to him for any future remodeling projects we plan to do. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any work you are considering doing in your home. .

We were very pleased with the finished product!! Once we signed a contract our project started and was completed on time. Rich was very professional and trustworthy! Everyday we would see progress being made with no down time or waiting for materials etc. Communication was excellent and I would get emails every evening with a status and what was going to happen next. Every evening when I arrived home from work everything would be completely cleaning up despite the ongoing remodel. There were also some suggestions that Rich gave us that we really appreciated for example, we wanted to hang a wall mounted mini basketball hoop so he suggested putting wood between the 2x4's so no matter where we mounted the brackets we would hit wood and not have to search for the 2x4. This was extremely helpful and he also did this on another wall for a TV mount. We highly recommend Cochrane Construction & Design and would definitely use them again!!

Rich's overall performance was outstanding and his pricing was very fair. We would use him again without reservations. He kept us appraised of his schedule, he did what he was asked, and he provide accurate and he provided timely change orders. His workers were professional, polite, and clean. Their work was impeccable and all the work passed the county inspector's scrutiny. The finishing work and attention to detail were outstanding. You could tell that Rich and his entire team took pride in the work that they completed. His thorough knowledge and expertise can be seen in the various facets of this project (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, and granite countertops). We came to rely on his experience and judgment. We have already recommended to several of our neighbors and friends.

They were prompt and courteous. The quality of the work was excellent! The one area that I felt needed improvement was that their quote was not all encompassing. They added things on later that I thought were included in the quote. They were minor, but still there.

Rich was one of several contractors interviewed, some of which were obtained from Angie's list. His pricing was reasonable and fair relative to other quotes. The job has so far turned out as expected (the job was just completed 11/10), was completed on schedule and on budget. I appreciate his work ethic and that of his crew. He was clear about milestones for the job and provided me with regular and prompt updates on the job via email per my request. In the few instances when things deviated from expected he was sure to notify us. I also appreciate that he was onsite most days and did some of the work himself.

The efficiency of getting the estimate back to us was what stood out to me about the company. They were responsive to any questions that we had. They were communicative about what they suggested we do. We would consider using them for future jobs.

It went great - now we are quoting to put a bathroom and kitchen in.
