Description of Work: A Quality installed a new Trane heat pump. Although their quote was a little higher than others I received, I had two (picky) friends highly recommend them so I decided to use them based on the recommendations. I was very happy with the service I received. I have since switched my seasonal inspections from another company to A Quality...they have been prompt and courteous whenever they have visited my home.

Description of Work: I had this company do many things for me between September of 2010 through January 2012. They were always very professional, honest and reliable, until my last encounter. I had a job that I wanted to be priced and asked that someone come out to take a look at my issue and give me an estimate. They quickly responded and I had scheduled an appointment to meet someone the next day...I had to leave work early for this appointment however; no one showed up for the appointment. It was explained to me that this was a scheduling mistake and they assured me that someone could come out again the next day. Again I left work early to meet them at my house and no one showed up. I never called again...after the two scenarios I have chosen to move on to another company. I felt that they really could have cared less any way because they never called me to explain what happened or even to try to mend the relationship in any way.

Description of Work: Luke and Rick are great! We’ve had them out here several times because when the home was newly built, the original company that installed the unit was going out of business at the time so the original installation was very shoddy. The first time A Quality came out they took care of the problem under warranty and they have been great ever since. They come out right away to take care of any problems. The workers and the office staff are all really fantastic.

I was really impressed with Josh's professionalism. He was on time to give us the estimate for replacing our heat pump system. We received a quote the next day. I really like the way Josh broke out the estimate into three categories for systems: good, better, best. He also indicated which system would qualify for tax rebates and rebates from the energy company. We would have gone with them, except that after consulting some HVAC experts, they weren't able to offer us the system we wanted. I would definitely recommend them though, and would call them again should we have HVAC trouble.
Description of Work: Received estimate for replacing heat pump system.

"A Quality" was the highest priced company. the second contractor was only about $125 less. The third contractor didn't know what they were doing. I went with AQUALITY because they offered the mitsubishi unit which had very high ratings in consumer reports. I worked with them to solve problems like running the power cable to the unit. It had to run throu the basement wall to get outside. Then mounting the unit on the brick paver surface was a problem since it was not level and sloped away from the house. I made a suggestion about removing the bricks and turning them on their side to frame the pedestal that the condenser unit sits on. They did that and it looks very nice. They ran a panduit covering on the outside wall of the house to run the copper lines to the air handlers inside. Although it detracts from the simple uncluttered look of the house, there was no way I could have put a ducted system in. It doesn't look too bad thou.... Epilogue: Last week, the system broke. AQUALITY came out and looked at it right away. They determined the problem was the electronics board and ordered a new one. They got it out here and installed it and now the system is working again. I haven't put too many hours of use on that machine since April so I hope this Mitsubishi "Mr. Slim" is not a lemon. But AQUALITY said that while they don't break too often, when they are running, they run great. So AQUALITY gets points for a quick response to a broken unit. Fixing it right away and it was still under warranty so it didn't cost me anything.
Description of Work: Had a ductless split system heat pump installed. It was a new install and required electrical cables to be run from one side of the house to the other. The system provides heat and cooling to the master bedroom and to the half basement TV room (where there is no heat otherwise). So far, so good, everything seems to work. Josh said their was a trap in the condensate lines going outside but there wasn't. but he has promised to return and install one trap that takes the condensate from both units. The trap is necessary to keep out insects and help keep the house airtight. UPDATE: it turns out that the company never applied for the electrical permit to do the work. But they got caught when the county inspector came around to inspect some previous work I had done the week earlier (unrelated to this company). They were told to have the permit on the inspectors desk by the end of the week. Long story short, They had to send some of their people back to remove the work that they did that would not meet the code. They had two people here for 4 hours (8 manhours total). This probably cost them any profit they could have made on this job. So I think they were suitably punished. Josh, said that this was an honest mistake and I believe him. However, Not putting in the permit had to be a deliberate choice on his part. He does this stuff everyday, how can he forget to put in for the permit? In short, I like this company because the installers were fantastic !! They listened to a couple suggestions I had and the placement of the condenser (outside) is nice looking with the brick framing around the base. They also made sure that the holes in the walls were well caulked up. If I were this companies president, I'd send my installers and my project managers to a short school on electrical code. Just so this kind of thing doesn't happen again. The cost was a loss of the companies profit but it could have cost them a customer. And since I'm thinking of putting in another heat pump unit on the other side of the house in the near future, a repeat customer and word of mouth is a good thing to have.

I've used A Quality H&A for two previous maintenance visits, and was very satisfied with the experience, so I didn't call other places to compare price quotes. I was originally referred to A Quality a few years ago by a H&A contractor who doesn't work on Trane heat pumps. During this visit, the technician found that the capacitor, though still operating, was swollen and seeping a sticky liquid. Then he found that the sticky stuff had dripped onto the defrost circuit board which he observed to intermittently misbehave when the unit cycled on. The parts had not yet failed, but it seemed unlikely they would last through the winter. He suggested, and I concurred, that the capacitor and circuit board be replaced. The parts were covered under manufacturer warranty (6 yr old heat pump; 10 yr wty). The parts were ordered and installed one week later without incident. $145 cost includes two maintenance visits - one now (in the fall) and a visit next spring. The other option was $105 for a single maintenance visit. I've done that method in the past. I chose the 2-visit plan this time. $231 Labor cost for the capacitor and circuit board replacement. It seemed to be a flat fee, not an hourly rate. The technician was professional, friendly, and he clearly explained the condition of the faltering parts along with why he thought they should be replaced. He wore foot protection while in the house.
Description of Work: Preventative maintenance and check-up of residential heating system (with heat pump) prior to winter. Repair of two components found to be worn and faltering.

The experience was very positive. I have had other companies service my units before and I was ready for the gloom and doom that I would need to replace the units or spend $250 just to have them look for any leaks. This was not the case with A Quality. They did a first class job. They determined the problems and gave me some options. I even asked them if I should replace the units and they said I could and they had staff that could help me, but they also gave me some other options if I did not want to replace at this time. Their service was outstanding. By the way, when it comes time to replace those units, guess where I am going -- A Quality Heating and A/C.
Description of Work: A Quality came to my home to look at two of my AC units that were not cooling. It was starting to get a little warm and the units were not keeping the house cool. They checked the units, quickly diagnosed the problems, and completed the repairs -- fixed a leak, replace some parts, and added some coolant.

The HVAC tech came out and inspected my system. He asked me a bunch of questions on how it was heating and cooling. He sanitized the pump for my condenser, made some recommendations for a humidifier, topped off my refrigerant, and gave me some hints for better efficiency and maintenance. I just made the appointment for my next service (2 of 2). Ive never had to actually have my system serviced and the discount I might have saved could be eaten up by then by maintenance costs, but at least I'll see it coming and hopefully I wont be without heat or A/C when I really need it.
Description of Work: I signed up for A Quality's annual HVAC inspection. They come out twice a year and do preventive maintenance on your system. The idea is that they can find issues, and fix them, before they become problems. If parts are required you get them at a discount. There are a couple of levels of service. More things are covered under the higher level, so I got that. I can't remember the differences.
