I inherited several valuable Persian rugs from my parents which needed to be cleaned. Based on Angie's List reviews and the company's website, I called Main Street Oriental Rugs to get a quote on hand washing my rugs. Since the other company I contacted about rug cleaning machine washes their rugs, I decided to go with Main Street Oriental Rugs. I dropped off the six rugs to Main Street Oriental Rugs and met with the owner. The owner, Mojan, was very knowledgeable about orientals and was able to tell me the approximate age of each rug and the area where it was produced. One of my rugs had Persian poetry woven into it which he read and translated for me! We discussed the scope of the cleaning and repair work to be done. When I hesitated at his estimate, he suggested holding off on the work since I would not be using any of the rugs. While they were not heavily soiled, the rugs were dirty enough that I was concerned about moth damage while they are stored (moths are attracted to soil). I decided to go ahead with the work and he accepted a 10% off coupon I printed from the Main Street Oriental Rug website. One of the rugs had two gashes in it which he repaired beautifully. The repair is not visible unless you look hard for it. He was also able to remove red dye from the white fringe of another rug that had bled when I washed it myself. On another rug, which had an 8" long fringe, Mojan recommended that it be trimmed back to 2" and did the work himself while I watched. The unusually long fringe had tripped many who walked over it and now that is no longer a problem. At my request, Mojan provided me with free verbal appraisals on all my rugs. He also provides written appraisals (for insurance or other purposes) for a fee. I am very pleased with my experience with Main Street Oriental Rugs. My rugs were cleaned and repaired professionally and were ready on time. As I was away when the rugs were ready for pickup, Main Street Oriental Rugs stored them for me for several weeks. My sister, whom I referred to them, was also pleased with their work. I will be taking more rugs to him for cleaning and repair soon!

Wonderful. He is very knowledgeable about oriental rugs. Was able to look at our rugs and tell us approx when we brought them (18 years) and how much we paid for them then! Gave us an estimate on cleaning both and repair of the more damaged rug. did not push for repair of the one with only a small section fraying, as they have to replace the edging on the entire length of the rug in order to repair it. Originally thought that they could just sew up the ripped section, but that would be a cheap and short term fix, and not something he would do- was very impressed with his knowledge and when he explained why they repair the edges as they do totally agreed. In the end when we went to pick up the rugs, because the damage was further down the edge than he had originally thought; he repaired the edging on BOTH rugs for no additional cost. They look great! Both rugs look just about brand new! Could not be happier. Knew from research that a decent cleaning job and repairing was not going to be cheap, but I feel we got a bargain for cleaning and repair of 2 large rugs, and 2 under mats. Great customer service, great deal; would def recommend to others.

I initially called and spoke with the proprietor who provided an overview of their services and the hours of the store. When I arrived he himself provided a review of the carpet and explaination of the process required to rid the rug of stains and odors. He gave me a quote for the service and a pick up time. We were going to be on vacation at the pick up date and he assured us there was no problem to hold the rug until later in the month when we returned. We actually The resulting outcome was excellent, the carpet looked and smelledfresh and new. The priced ended up being $50 more than expected, but we are very pleased with thevalue and happy with their work.

Their was a misunderstanding about the rugs and the pretense in which they would clean the rugs. When I went to pick them up, they still smelled bad. I took them back because I didn't want to put them back in my home. I spoke with the owner, and he said the reason they smelled bad was because of the type of rug I purchased. The way they fix the fibers of the weave and the glue still smelled bad. He told me he would clean them again but to just understand they were not quality rugs. He convinced me of that but he should of communitcated that to me before we started. I was under the impression the rugs were ok but he needed to tell me what I should of expected. He is supposed to be the expert at the rugs. I would use them again in the future.

Mojan was very helpful and patient in showing me his vast selection of rugs and advising me on my choices. I appreciated greatly his taking 2 rugs in trade. The experience was a pleasure and cost was fair.

The work turned out great. They are very personable and professional. I was very pleased and everything was done very quickly. I also shipped a rug through them. The experience has been very satisfactory and it’s they have good customer service.

I was pleased with the work although I thought the price was a little high, but I didn’t do any comparison shopping.

The rug got cleaned very well but I wasn?t crazy about the fact that there was a lot of effort to convince us to trade in the rug. They were trying to show us rugs that were made in India and weren?t the equivalent of our Persian rug. I didn?t feel comfortable because they were pushing us to buy a new rug and take the one we had as a trade-in. I was not enamored with them.

I picked up two or three companies for the job, but only one was reasonably close. I called him up, he sent me to the website, and I discussed the carpets with him. He gave me options for me to come out or for him to come out. I ended up driving out and the work was actually slightly less than what he initially quoted me. He called up and left a message about a week and a half later. We brought another one up to him to clean, and he actually offered to trade for another rug for a price.
