USA Insulation

Did not use their services due to the cost was higher than anticipated.

We purchased an older home that we quickly learned had NO insulation in the walls and very little deteriorating insulation in the attic and crawl space. The home was not energy efficient at all and we were spending a lot of money to heat/cool it. All of our exterior walls were cold to the touch and the attic was warm as the heat from the house was rising up and heating the attic. USA insulation did a walkthrough with us and gave us a breakdown of insulation options and costs. We ended up going with attic and wall insulation and not doing the crawlspace (partly because we couldn't afford to add that on, and partly because it was the least important in terms of energy efficiency as we were told by USA). We were ensured that insulating our house would make a huge difference in our bills and in the way the house feels. We had a huge temperature discrepancy between the top and bottom floors on the split level part of our house. USA did a great job, were very professional, showed up on time, etc. We knew ahead of time that spraying in foam insulation to the exterior walls would leave a number of patched holes in the exterior of our house and that we were responsible for painting them. They try to match the color of the house with the material they use to patch, but our house is white and the patch material they had was off-white. They also had to bend back the siding on the house so there are dents in the siding from that since we have aluminum siding. To us, this was not a big deal because insulation and energy efficiency were more important and we'd rather they drill all the holes on the outside of the house than on the inside! We appreciate knowing this upfront though and being prepared for it. A fresh coat of paint covers it all up though, but the homeowner is responsible for the painting. The one thing we were disappointed in, is that our bills haven't really decreased much and we still have a big temperature discrepancy between top and lower levels on our split level. We have since talked to other folks and learned that our issue is likely the HVAC system which is probably not big enough for the size of our house. We also have no dampers on our HVAC system to adjust air flow to different parts of the house. Some day we'll have to fix this, but the HVAC system was brand new when we bought the house. We were disappointed that the person from USA who came to assess our house assured us the insulation would fix this problem, when clearly there are other issues causing it. Someone more experienced with energy audits might have realized this. Despite this, however, we're still happy to have our house insulated. It's much quieter now and I'm sure it helps with heating and cooling, it just hasn't fixed all the problems we're having.

It costs more than I am willing to pay

I had a firm quote before the work was done, so no surprises. They showed up on time and left the place nearly spotless. The info they provided me before hand about how the noise reduction would work was exactly right. It's not a soundproofing measure, but the noise reduction for me was significant. Before I could hear normal talking from the downstairs unit, after only loud yelling and then it's well dampened. I'm very happy with the experience and the results.

They were prompt, efficient and courteous. Hey cleaned up before they left so there was no pieces of insulation floating around the house that could be harmful to my pets.

Was quick and efficient, they also cleaned up after they were done.

Provider was unable to perform service. He was very professional and recommended to me that because of the age of my house the project would not benefit me. The fact that he was honest tells me a lot about his professionalism. I would recommend his service again and if i ever purchased I new house and need his service I would call them.

Much improved indoor temperatures, barely any difference in temp between first and second floor now.

Everything was perfect. The guys showed up on time, worked quickly, and even pointed out some holes (!!!) in my roof that needed to be patched. They were done faster than expected and cleaned things up well after they were finished.

Great! The 2 fellas that did the work were very friendly and did not mind me asking questions. I am looking forward to see how much I will be saving on my heat bill this winter.

It was fantastic. They arrived on time, did the installation of insulation in the attic and then did a great job cleaning up as well. There wasn't a spec of insulation on my stairs, carpet or even the lawn. The workers were polite and tidy. The estimator was on time and talked us through all our questions ahead of time and was able to schedule our appointment right there before he left. Even talking on the phone, the people were all polite and knowledgable.

Salesman arrived on time and was extremely professional. Took the time to go over our existing insulation and what they would do. The workers arrived a few days later as scheduled and were very professional. They did a great job and completely covered all items in our closet where the attic access was as well as our bedroom furniture as they had to run the hose through our bedroom window. They left no mess. We have seen a noticeable difference in the temperature upstairs and it is much less humid. We could not be happier with the service that was provided.

Good experience from start to finish. Not sure if we could have gotten a better price, but it seemed reasonable and we did not want to spend the time to get other quotes. The work was done in less than a week and took just a couple of hours. The technicians were very conscientious, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. The work looked very good with good quality material. I have no complaints whatsoever and am glad I used this company.

I spoke to Brian over the phone. He was very polite and explained his process for attic insulation to me over the phone. Since I know practically nothing about the process, Brian explained everything well. I haven't made a decision yet on whether I will go through with the job, but nothing by high remarks from me thus far.

It went really well. The salesman was not pushy and really took his time with us. The price was what I was expecting it to be. He gave us a date and he came out that day. They were really friendly. They picked up after themselves and you wouldn't have even know they were there.

USA did a great job. They put down a lot of insulation in the attic, then they proceeded to drill about 100 holes into my house from the outside! Fear not, after they filled every hole with insulation, they mortared the holes and you would have no idea they were ever there. Their process worked really really well in my brick house and you can really feal the difference. My house is much more comfortable now and my a/c unit does comes on 50% as much as it used to.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and they were great. We have saved money on the things that they told us to do, and the things that they did. They gave us hints on how to handle things, they cleaned up, and they were just super. They were just wonderful.

The gentleman that came to measure and give us the price quote was a very nice elderly gentleman. He was very polite and nice. He was a bit on the slower side trying to explain everything to me that I sort of either already knew or didn't care about. Regardless, he was very polite and professional when it came to doing the measurements and price quote. The main thing that turned me off was the usual hard sale tactic they did. I was told that if I signed right there on the spot I would get a 20% discount on the price (assuming for being on Angies list). I am not a fan of anyone trying to get me to sign right on the spot. I will never do that and nobody else should either. I was also turned off that the price quote (even with the 20% discount) was still $800 more than another company I called (I won't mention the other companies name here but it's pretty easy to find them since they have over 200 positive comments on angies list in my area). I asked the gentleman what the price would be if I didn't sign right now and he said just to add 15% to the price. That seems pretty ridiculous if you ask me and a good way to lose business. In the end, I went with the other company that only charged me $1600 and they did a great job so I believe I clearly made the right choice not going with USA Insulation. I might have considered USA Insulation if they didn't try to hard sell me and maybe had explained why it was so much more than the other companies price. Just to explain, both companies quoted me on 17-18 inches of R49 insulation for my full attic space. There was nothing different about what each company was going to do or the product they were using. So if USA Insulation tries to defend themselves saying they use a "higher quality" material then I will just call BS.

Richard came out to inspect the property and recommended attic insulation only. With too many windows, adding wall insulation would not be as beneficial. After taking measurements of each area, we sat down and reviewed cost estimate and their schedule as to when they can come out. We got the Angie's List member discount which was nice. They must be in high demands because the job on my house got scheduled more than 2 weeks later. On Aug 5, two men came in on time and got the job done efficiently. Afterwards they vacuumed inside the house and swept the garage where they had worked. They were highly professional and I would recommend them to anyone.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I was impressed by Richard. If I was going to do whole house insulation I would definitely consider them. It was a good price but I can't afford it right now. Richard was very honest.

This was a very positive experience from start to finish. They did exactly what they said they would do. Their representatives and workmen were excellent. Probably the best experience I've had with a service in some years.

Exceptionally responsive; very good service; good crew here (2 people). I am pleased, as I can already feel the results of their work - air conditioning is not running as often. I am sure it will be the same with the heat in winter. They cleaned up well after themselves, and accepted the final portion of the payment for services from me.
