Blue Jay Electric Inc

Because of the frequent power outages in the area and because I operate a business from my home I purchased a portable generator unit with a manual transfer switch to permit me to operate a number of interior circuits without running extension cords around the house. I called Blue Jay Electric based on the Angie's List ratings. Jay Outland came to my home, we discussed the scope of work, and he provided a quote within two days. A week later I accepted the quote and scheduled the work. The crew (2 persons) showed up right on time and did all the work in the same day. They furnished all their parts and supplies and cleaned up when finished. Overall I was very pleased with the service - from the prompt visit to scope out the work to the completed job.

Our old house is built in 1924, and it is always challenging to work in them. We put in some can light, and they were neat. They had some experience working in old homes, and they did a great job for us. We enjoyed having their guys here. We have had them back to do stereo work. I now request specific electricians from their company who are better than others. They did send someone here before that I wasn't happy with.

I wasn't home for the installation, but everything was installed perfectly and works wonderfully. They even updated the switches and didn't even charged me.

They were flexible with what we wanted to do. We got a lower bid from Blue Jay so we went with them. The price was very reasonable. We haven't had any problems with anything that they did. I would highly recommend them.

Rich and Keith arrived on time. They each started to work on different tasks- and were careful in bringing drop cloths. Rich did a good job of assessing the various needs I had around the household. They were great- they worked fast and efficiently. I would hire them again.

I contacted Blue Jay by email, and received a response within 24 hours. I made an appointment to have the work done and agreed to the hourly rate quoted + materials. Rich and Dave arrived on time. They were pleasant and professional. There were 3 jobs: replace a broken outdoor lamp fixture & 2 security light bulbs; change out two wall sconces, and replace an attic vent fan. I supplied the materials for the first two jobs. Rich had to go out to get a replacement exhaust fan. While he did that, Dave remained behind and completed the other two jobs. All 3 jobs were completed in good order in 2-1/4 hours. They cleaned up after themselves and removed all their trash. Including the replacement fan, the price was $390.00. Everything works!

We had several bulbs in a few light fixtures that would not work, we changed them and they still would not work. I left a message to set up an appointment and the next day my call was returned. The woman was very friendly and an appointment was scheduled for a few days later. She said the rate was $125 for the first hour and $100 for additional hours. The two workmen arrived at the scheduled time. After checking the light fixtures it was determined that we apparently bought a couple packages of bulbs that were all bad...a little embarrassing and a little expense for an easy fix, but we at least have peace of mind that we have no electrical issues. I will call them in the future if we need anything and would recommend them to others.

Richie and Dave did a great job. They arrived on time, kept us informed as they did the work, and the amount was exactly what the estimate showed. They even had to go out for some additional parts to complete the work and still managed to do it on time and on budget.

As promised one of their electricians (Rich) and his helper (Dave) arrived on a Friday morning to start the job. They had to return Monday morning to complete the job. The work was completed as specified in Blue Jay's proposal.

I researched Angie's List and found Blue Jay Electric, which is close to our home and had very good reviews. We contracted them to upgrade our electrical service to 400 amps with all that entails, trace out some mystery wiring, and take care of permits, inspections, etc. We decided (at the last minute) that we needed two 230V dedicated circuits run for the workshop and a new A/C unit, and they willingly modified their schedule to include the additional work. The upgrade was exceedingly difficult (we had the dubious distinction of having the worst breaker panel they had ever seen). I have to commend both electricians for their professionalism and extreme hard work. In order to fit the panels side-by-side in an orderly fashion they had to reframe the walls. They even stayed late Friday evening to make sure we had full electrical power. Because of the amount of work that had to be done, they returned Monday morning bright and early and commenced work again. I am very impressed with this company, their super employees, and will definitely be hiring them again. It is an absolute delight to encounter a qualified, reliable, trustworthy company.

Jay arrived a few minutes late but called to tell me he would be late, so that was OK. He proceeded to examine the fan and area, quoted the price and proceeded with the installation. He had to put a hole in the ceiling and was very neat and cleaned up everything after he was done. He even went out of his way to fix a fixture in the attic that wasn't up to standard.

Everything was great. Because of the scope of the project it took several trips, and they really did a wonderful job. They brought in a bigger team--the last day they were here was really the wrap-up day, and I had three fans and some cables to finish up, and they brought in four guys to finish the work quickly. Their prices were fair and I have another project coming up that I plan to hire them for. I would like to give recognition to Richie, the lead electrician when the work was originally done, for his genuine concern about the inspection and his care in following up with me.

Blue Jay's team of 2 arrived on time. The electrician looked at the lights in the kitchen and explained that the ballast in both had gone bad. The type of lights required that we purchase new lights. I ran out to purchase the lights while they installed the new ceiling fan. When I returned, they were getting everything ready in the kitchen to replace the lights with the result that the work went quickly. Their work was very neat with old materials carefully gathered up and put with the trash. The thoughtfulness with which they approached solving my problems (minor though they were) was really great.

They were great. They gave us some helpful advice on stuff that we could do on our own. They seemed very honest. They showed up when they said they would.

Very pleasant experience. The electrician was polite, efficient, and only charged for the actual time spent directly working. As he worked he also explained the reasons why the fixtures weren't working and ways to avoid future problems. The electrician, Jay called ahead of time and arrived when he said he would. He checked the kitchen fan-hood/light over the stove, and saw there were no blades on the fan. He recommended replacing the whole unit. He said either he could put a new unit in, or a cheaper option would be if we replaced it ourselves. It doesn't have a vent-hole, just a filter, and it plugs into an outlet so it would be a simple replacement. I agreed, so he did not do that repair. He then checked the ceiling fan and the sockets. Those did require repair. He fixed the wiring on the two loose light-bulb sockets and checked the third. He also checked the fan and saw it would need a new switch. He didn't have that specific kind of multi-speed switch in his truck, so he went out and bought one. Before he went to buy the switch, he also checked the whole-house/attic fan at my request to see how complex a repair it would be. The attic fan has never worked in the four years we've owned the house. He peered into the attic and saw that the fan had been disconnected. He asked if we had central air and I answered yes. He said often when air conditioning is put in, the whole-house fans are disabled. Repairing it would mean extra time, and it was up to us. I said we didn't need it since we hadn't used it, so he didn't need to fix that. He said he could also put a blank plate over the wiring box for extra safety if we wanted; I declined. Jay drove out and bought the replacement switch, and came back quickly. He replaced the switch on the ceiling fan, and tested it and the light; it worked just fine. We paid him by check and he only charged for the hour and a half he was directly working on our house. Another thing I liked about this contractor is as he worked, he explained *why* the light-bulb sockets burned out (too high a wattage used) and recommended ways to avoid burning them out in the future.

It was extremely fast. Tracy was very accommodating to my schedule, so I didn't have to take a day off of work and was in before 10am. The men that did the installations were courteous and friendly.

I called Blue Jay after reading their reports here on Angie's List. I was able to schedule a Saturday morning appointment. Rich came out, quickly diagnosed the problem (and helped me shake my head at my home's builder for their prior work). He went about his business, and 30 minutes later, everything was in working order. I'll definitely use them again.

Very good. Staff was very pleasant. Received a quick estimate for a fair price. Work was scheduled fairly quickly. Installed a very nice kitchen light. Very professional and friendly crew.

Overall, they did a good job. The first time they came out they left a couple of things unresolved but they did come out and fix them. They were happy to come back and resolve that. I would use them again.

Blue Jay Electric did a wonderful job for us. The price was slightly high but the work was done well. Everything was done in a neat manner and they were sure to clean up after themselves.

I have used this company before and they are generally fast when they come to my home. I like that they show up on time, because I have had a lot of bad luck finding good companies to do work around my home.

This is the best electrician I've ever used, The most honest and most reliable electrician that I've worked with. I would definitely recommend these guys to any body with electrical needs because they are very professional and friendly. I am very pleased with how these guys worked they cleaned up very well after the job.

They were very professional. My only concern was that in the end it was more expensive than I had expected, but we had never asked for an estimate anyways because they charge an hourly rate and the only problem was that it took a little bit longer to finish it. They charge $100 an hour.
