It was a great experience, from beginning to end. Everyone performed his or her role in a professional manner. The first contact was with Tracy, by telephone, who did the scheduling. Then Jay, the owner, came out to do the estimate and prepare the proposal/contract. Rich, the electrician, started out by doing the investigative work for the kitchen lighting on a Saturday morning. He suggested four locations for the recessed lights, and fortunately, there were no obstructions in those locations. Then, he started bright and early on Monday with all the above-mentioned work (old-fixture removal; new lighting, fan/light and switch installations), finishing up on Tuesday. He did a great job, and was good about explaining things along the way, and talking to us if he ran into an issue and had another solution in mind. And he was good about cleaning up (including vacuuming) at the end of each day. He was also punctual and a hard worker, and went the extra mile.

One fan was falling out of the ceiling, the other never worked ever since it was "installed." In two hours they fixed both issues--the one that was falling down is very sturdy now, and the one that did not work is operating fine. He replaced the rheostat in the light unit (which was installed my MILTON ELECTRIC) with an on/off switch. Two weeks later, the problem came up again--the light was not operational. Blue Jay sent another electrician, who came and rechecked the work. Two hours later, the electrician established that the rheostat (put in by the idiots of Milton Electric, thank you), had burned out the unit. It will need to be replaced. Blue Jay did not charge for the follow up visit, which I appreciate.

Never got past trying to set up an estimate.

Their employees are good guys and they did a nice job. I would definetly hire them again.

Jay was prompt and professional. He traced the problem quickly and fixed the shorted phone wire. As with the previous job, he wasn't phased by my old house's dodgy wiring, which can be off-putting to those accustomed to working in more modern homes.

Excellent. Richie Walls was prompt, friendly and very professional. He quickly set about to accessing the situation and worked continously and quickly. He explained the pro's and con's of different methods of accomplishing the work (e.g.. centering the fan vs.mounting 6 in. off center on a joist to provide better support given the greater distance between joists in our house (24 in. on center compared to normal 18 in.)) and explained why one was preferred but left the choice up to us. He was flexible and was able to accomodate a last minute request to add a receptacle. He work was very neat and he cleaned up after he was done by vacuuming and taking all boxes and packing material. Rick worked quickly but did not seemed rushed and was committed to doing a quality job and pleasing the customer.

Things went very well and in faster time than expected. Rich was friendly, professional, and did a great job of explaining what was happening and estimated timing. His young apprentices were friendly and respectful (e.g. introduced themselves)

Very good. Rich explained what he was doing and discussed general things we should consider with regard to our home's electrical system. He did try to cross sell us on a complete home inspection, but it was a low pressure pitch.

It went great. First, I called for an estimate and was able to schedule that within two days of my call. The work actually got scheduled within the week. The electricians who came were punctual and very professional. They listened to my requests and concerns. I was impressed with the results. The results were exactly what I had hoped for. Another thing I liked about them is that I could reach them via email and didn't have to try to call them during my work hours. All of the scheduling was done through email.

It was easy to schedule a consultation with Jay. They emailed me a contract. They were very responsive. The secretary/scheduler seems either distracted or overwhelmed because a few miscommunications happened with her. The man who arrived to do the work was very competent, friendly and efficient.

They were very responsive, friendly and did the job in a timely manner. The price was lower than we had expected to pay for this project and the work product was very good. We called on a Friday and they were in doing the work on a Tuesday morning.

I was extremely impressed by Blue Jay Electric's price, professionalism and quality of work. The bid was extremely competitive and covered items that would have cost at least $1,000 more using another electrical contractor. The on-site electrician, Richie Walls was extremely diligent about his work and arrived every morning before 7 a.m. He also provided updates about the progress of the project. The company also accomodated my schedule and was very flexible. I would highly recommend anyone doing a complete rehab to use Blue Jay Electric.

Blue Jay was a great Angie's List find -- they were able to schedule a 'first call' appointment to suit my tight schedule, and their electrician (Keon) arrived promptly, was highly professional, and got several jobs done in a very reasonable amount of time. He even volunteered that I qualified for a $25 discount which I had not known. Great expreience and I will definitely use Blue Jay again! Update to my earlier review -- I have used Blue Jay several times since my first review and have always had exemplary service, but a recent experience has caused me to increase my rating even higher. I had an 'emergency' project wherein I had an HVAC contractor ready to start a job but we found we needed to move couple of floor outlets in order to be able to start the job. Blue Jay was willing to send an electrician (Jay himself came out) on no notice to help out and we were able to move forward on the project. I cannot reccommend these guys highly enough!

Showed up exactly on time. Were in and out in under 5 hrs. The quote was for 4-5 hrs. When Jay came to give the estimate he was very upfront and personable. I had a good feeling about their company from the start. Ritchie was the guy who did most of the work, he had a couple helpers come in towards the end of the day who did cleanup and other stuff. Tracy was a pleasure to deal with over the phone and worked around my schedule without any problems. I got quotes from several other companies and Blue Jay was the obvious choice and I would highly recommend them to anybody in the area.

A circuit kept tripping off in our house. We would press it back on, and it would trip again. This happend several times over the Mother's Day Weekend 2009. On Saturday night the circuit tripped again, so I signed up for Angie's list, found Blue Jay Electric and called them, left a voice mail and sent an email. The next evening (Sunday) I was called by the owner (can't remember his name) and set up an appointment for the next day at 8:30am. The next morning, Rich and Keon showed up right on time, told us exactly what was wrong, checked the ancient punch-o-matic circuit box and confirmed their suspisions. The circuit was arching and could have caused a fire. Rich strongly suggested we have the punch-o-matic circuit box replace and said he could do it that day. Rich told us that we would be without power until at least 3:30pm. Rich called the office, got us a price we agreed on, got the parts, and by 11:30 or 12:00 noon, our power was back on. He made other suggestions about plugs in our home and about how much load a circuit could take. I will use Blue Jay Electric again, very professional, very polite, and they knew what they were doing.

Everything from the initial call to schedule through the finish was excellent. Eric took the time to explain options regarding the available wall switches and to purchase the desired switches. He clearly outlined some of the challenges regarding the wiring in the sunroom and the alternative to use a wire cover. The work was done efficiently and the areas were cleaned up nicely.

Eric arrived on time and took the time to explain what he needed to do to install the pendants and cabinet lighting. (He wasn't the original person who gave us the estimate.) As he worked he figured out a way to do the installs without having to put any holes in my walls or ceilings!

Everything, from initial estimate to completion of all work, was of the highest caliber. Jay, Rich, and Zack were terrific. They took the time to explain everything, made several valuable suggestions, were on time, and did excellent work. We are planning on doing additional remodeling next year and will definitely go with Blue Jay once again.

I called on 4/20/09 in the late morning and they gave me a rough estimate of $125 for the work and parts. I had received an estimate from another electrician from another company for double that estimate (which seemed a bit outrageous for the simple repair). I asked if Blue Jay took the Angies List coupon for that job and they said yes, so I would only pay $100. They had an opening in the schedule for the same day in the later afternoon. They told me someone would be at my house after 2PM. At around 1:45 PM someone called to tell me they were on their way and that they would arrive in about 30 minutes. By 2:30 PM they had arrived and completed the job. The two gentlemen who did the repairs were very professional and courteous. I was very pleased overall.

We were extremely pleased with our experience with Blue Jay. The initial phone call was handled very professionally, and an appointment set up promptly. Rich and his assistant Zack were on time. They arrived, searched for the source of the problem, and Rich made a recommendation on the best way to proceed. When we agreed to his suggestion, the work was completed promptly. They then installed a switch light in place of a pull string light. Throughout their time with us, they were extremely professional, explained in detail the work they were going to do, and completed everything in a timely fashion. They were also careful about cleaning up when the work was completed. I would recommend them very highly, and would definitely use them again.

The responsiveness of the company was great, as the owner (I think) actually came to the house to take a look and provide an estimate. Unfortunately, the estimate I received over the phone, when he called, seemed to be slightly different from the price I was quoted upon accepting the contract ($125 first hour + $50 every half hour vs. $175 for the total job). Not a deal-breaker, though. The electrician arrived about 15 minutes late on the appointed day, but seemed extremely competent, checking systematically and eventually isolating the problem. He fixed both the major and minor problems within the estimated time, and on the whole, provided a great service.

I gathered quotes for this work from three separate contractors and Blue Jay was by far the contractor I felt most comforable with. Jay the owner was very understanding of the details of the proposed work. Communication during the entire process was excellent in-person, by phone, and email. They arrived on-time for the estimate and all scheduled work. The work was performed in a timely professional manner by everyone on the crew. After the work was completed I did have a few minor issues...Jay immediately responded to my issues and had them resolved without a hesitation. I am considered to be a very picky customer and Blue Jay exceeded all of my expectations. In the future...if I require any additional electrical work they will be my one and only stop for these services. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

From initial estimate to finished product, Blue Jay Electric was very professional. An estimate was given on Monday and all work was completed that Thursday (one day-7 hours). I would definitely hire again.

This work was done on a rental property ( originally our first home). For a number of years the property was handled by a management company and the repair work had generally been shoddy. When we took over the management ourselves, we decided to find really good people to do the work in the house so that we could attract a better caliber of tenants and because it is a good house worthy of a good investment. In almost every case, the new people we brought in found that they had to correct or clean up previous poor workmanship. Every tenant we have had has run cable in in their own unique way. As part of making longterm repairs, we decided to get cable run within the walls with an end point in the garage next to access to either satellite or cable TV and internet access. We had used Blue Jay Electric for some other jobs with great results, but nothing this extensive. I emailed Blue Jay and got an immediate response. The owner, Jay Outland came out on a Saturday to talk to us about the work, figure out how it could be done, and gave us an estimate. We agreed that they would pull out all the old cable both outside the house and inside and then install new cable within the walls with outlets in 7 rooms, both upstairs and down. Any holes in drywall made to run the cable would be our responsibility to repair. Jay was back to us with a written estimate by email in 2 days. We had a very open timeframe for the work. The job took at least a couple of days. The work was outstanding?everything done just as we had agreed. The places where they had to punch through wall were very tidy and carefully done. The house is now ?cable-ready? and it looks very professional. We were thrilled. Jay came and did the final walk-thru with us, taking time to check everything. His concern for the quality of the work is evident. This is a company that puts time and attention into their work and is talented enough to handle a range of jobs really well.
