My area was a little larger than the deal covered, so there was an additional fee, which I understood from the beginning. Very upfront, very prompt, always responded. I would definitely ask them to do it again.

I can not remember the cost but the resurfacing of the asphalt driveway and parking pad was part of an Angie's list big deal. The driveway is beautiful and the young man from Tri State couldn't have been nicer. He did a great job. If you need asphalt work, call this company. You will not be disappointed.

I purchased an Angie's Big Deal, which was for 1000 sq ft. at $149. At first I had trouble getting hold of the company. The phone number didn't seem to work properly. So I used the Angie's List message feature and eventually they contacted me. The guy arrived on time, measured my driveway, and since I have 1800 sq ft he told me how much the extra would cost. My driveway is old, and has holes forming and a lot of cracks so I also asked about filling them, but the guy said it really wouldn't be worth the cost and I agreed. He trimmed back the grass all along the driveway edges, and cleared it of debris. Then he applied the seal coating. The whole thing took about one hour. The finished job was very neat. The coating is guaranteed for 2-3 years. They will contact me when they think it's time to apply another the coating. I was very pleased with the outcome and would be quite happy to hire them again. At some point, though, I should get the driveway resurfaced, and at that time I will ask Tri State for a quote.

Seal-coated our driveway and it looks great! All our questions were answered and the job was completed as promised.

Initial response was good and professional, however, the original date scheduled for sealing our driveway had to be rescheduled due to rain. After several days with no contact regarding a new date, I sent a message through the Angie's List messaging center (this seemed to be their preferred method of contact) saying that we had plans for the upcoming weekend and that it would not be a good time to perform the service. After receiving no further contact, that Saturday afternoon I received a call to inform me that the crew was on their way! Since I did happen to have a few minute window available, I told them to go ahead and send the crew, but rain moved in while they were en route and we had to reschedule again. After a few more days of no contact, I sent another message saying that my wife and I would be at a wedding that upcoming Saturday and that would clearly not be a good day. Well... as we were on our way to the wedding I received a text from my sister who was babysitting our newborn asking if we knew anything about a paving company coming by to seal the driveway. This was COMPLETELY unannounced, but, fortunately, my sister's husband knew how to drive a stick shift and move my car off of the driveway so that the job could be completed... Once complete, the crew simply left without saying anything or leaving any paperwork, etc. Had I been at home when the work was completed, I actually had a question or two about possibly extending the driveway, but guess that will have to wait for another day...

We did slightly more than the square footage from the special.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. They came on time and did everything very nicely. They did a nice job on it. He was pleasant. The only part I didn't like was that I was not contacted after I initially bought it. I called Angie's List and they said I had to go on the List to see if I had any messages. I didn't like that but that is part of the Angie's List problem. They did call me and we set up an appointment. When I bought it, I set up 3 days for an appointment and I didn't hear anything. Other than that, everything worked out fine. It's sealed and it worked out and it looks nice. I would use them. I spent an additional $33 for a section that I added.

Our driveway was a disaster, Tri-State got it right. We purchased an older bungalow-style home near Arbutus/Halethorpe a few years ago, and realized the driveway had largely been ignored for decades. The tar-fill between the gravel had eroded, cracks were everywhere, and overall it just looked bad, particularly in contrast to the remodel on our home, and a general spruce up of the landscaping and lawn. We ran across n Angie?s List ?big deal? for seal coating the drive from another paving company, but they were not as highly rated as Tri-State, who also had a ?big deal? listed for a bit more money. We bought the Tri State deal in mid-October, got a call to schedule the next day. The following day, Gus came out exactly as scheduled. He measured the drive, and while there was a slight discrepancy in the initial measurements, we quickly came to terms on the exact dimensions, he provided an evaluation of the drive, and recommended some (needed) additional work to fill cracks and resolve a 4? fissure that crossed the drive. He recommended that we not seal coat at that time, but wait for a call from a Tri-State manager to explore other options. Here the story goes a little south. Although the manager called a day or two later to discuss other options, the action-item from that call was that he would follow up in the next days to get another estimator out to our home for a more detailed review of options. A week went by, then two, then three. I called once or twice, then dropped a note through Angie?s list, and Mike, a manager from Tri-state called that day. He apologized authentically, and explained that in their customer management system somehow our file got checked-off as ?complete?. He assured me that he would come out a few days later to do the work himself, and ?get it right?. Then the weather changed. No harm, no foul; you can?t expect them to seal in the rain. One of their schedulers, Marie, called a few times as we negotiated schedule with Mother Nature, and yesterday, seven weeks after our first contact with Tri State, our driveway service was completed by Gus (not Mike). The job looks great. I?d agreed to additional payment to to cover materials and labor for our more complicated issues. The largest cracks were filled with cold-patch asphalt mix, and the entire drive received a thorough coat of seal. Prior to the seal coating, the smaller cracks received a torched-in asphalt-rubber rope treatment that filled smaller cracks to a level surface, but in the case of larger cracks, simply sealed and partially filled the gap. On this one note I?d say I was a bit disappointed. The remaining gaps were still deep enough in my estimation to present an issue with ice fracturing the asphalt, but after a phone call with Gus, I realized the cracks were a difficult dimension; too small to fill with asphalt, but a bit too large and deep to fill with the tar/rubber rope treatment. For now, we?ll live with it. Overall, the job looks top-notch, and despite the delay (everyone drops the ball sometimes, right?), we are VERY happy with the finished product, the service, and overall friendliness and professionalism of Tri State. Others have covered the details of their service in their reviews, so I?ll refrain from ?they blew off the drive, and trimmed the grass, etc.? They did a fine job, provided great advice, and we will have them back in Spring for another coat, if needed. Thanks Tri-State!

I purchased a big deal coupon for this company. It went great. We got even a couple of our neighbors, they liked the end result and they requested that we give them their phone number so they can get it done in the future too. The outcome was great. The end result was better than expected.

Difficult to contact. Many attempts made before call was returned. Original service day was cancelled due to rain. However, no rain and no phone call. Overall work was ok.

It didn't go very well. They weren't good. The driveway looks the same way as it looked before. They didn't fix the cracks. The same cracks are still there. I tried to contact them but they didn't really contact us back.

The contractor arrived on time and informed me my driveway was larger than the included amount, but was clear with the charges. I agreed to the extra fees and the work was completed within the hour. They roped off the driveway and had me sign off using an electronic signature on an iPad. Well done and professional. The job was neatly completed.

They arrived on-time and explained fully to me what they were going to do. I had a few questions and concerns that were answered in no time. The job was professionally done and quickly as well. I asked if there would be any follow-up and was told they'ed be back in a year to touch things up if necessary. I'd recommend them to seal any driveway. The job really looked nice and neat!!!

They did an excellent job. They were extremely helpful when it came to scheduling the job. The woman, even though we contracted, she made sure that she accommodated our schedule. She was absolutely wonderful. The woman who did the scheduling came out. They did the job when they said they would.

It went perfectly. They were very punctuall and, they did a great job but, we were very disappointed how much they charged us. We are embarrassed how much we paid. Everyone has told us we so overpaid to get this don for 1 hours work.

Bad to good (I thought) to worse. I contacted this company multiple times since the end of March, beginning April time Frame spoke to 'Gus' who advised me the season hadn't kicked off yet to call back later. I called several times and left messages to get quotes on driveway widening, to no available. It wasn't until I purchased the 'Big Deal' coupon and never got contacted to schedule the service within the first week that I realized it was the same [non-responsive] company from earlier in the year. I found the only way to get prompt response was to go through the message center on Angie's List. I spoke to 'Chris' about scheduling the seal coating service and said I was having concrete work done and was willing to work with them and the seal coating could wait. Since I was told they had to finish the contracted jobs and the seal coating jobs are done after the larger jobs at the end of the year no problem, but then I was revisiting the thought of widening the driveway and contacted TriState to give me a quote for adding a 150 sq. ft. section prior to seal coating and I was told that 150 sq. ft. was too small of a job for them and they would refer me to someone else. I met with another company who was given my number by Tri-State and when Tri-State found out I was actually contracting to have my entire 1,500 sq. ft. driveway torn out and redone, they called the company I was contracting with and then blew up my phone and advised me I couldn't contract with the other company and told me the other company bashed me and put a 'no bid' bar on me. However, in talking to the other contractor, who was interested enough to give me a quote and go over contract information and was intending to email me the contract to sign, I was told Tri-State put a 'no bid' bar on me and any company Tri-State deals with is prohibited from doing the work for me for threat of having being [barred] themselves and would find a shortage of work within their circle of occupation. So, I requested a refund of the sealcoating coupon and informed Angie's List of my entire [extreme] ordeal with this company.

The provider did an excellent job on our driveway! Our driveway had numerous large cracks and rough areas, which he filled during the work. We had called him several times before getting a response, but our calls were placed during a very busy time for the provider. When he did respond, he immediately completed the job (the same day) -- doing a thorough and even attractive job with the sealant. The pricing, which included the "Big Deal Promotion" plus additional coverage for more square footage in the driveway, was also attractive. We will definitely use this provider again in about 3 years. Very pleased with the service and price.

The provider came out and called me immediately indicating that I had a concrete driveway. I asked him to explain the difference and he did. Based on his description, the services being provided were not applicable to my driveway. He instructed me to seek a refund of the purchase price, and would alert Angie's list about the situation. This provider was patient with me and did not talk down to me. Also, he must have a great group of Techs working for the company because they communicated the problem right away and did not do the work until it was resolved..

I emailed Tri State Paving on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. Within an hour I had a response. I called them and they were able to set up an appointment to give me an estimate the following day. Not only did I get an estimate but they were able to do the job that very same day. They were very professional, they helped us clear some building materials off the driveway, cleared it of debris, and edged. The job looks great and I couldn't be more pleased.

I was a little confused with the terms of the big deal and the additional pricing. However, they did excellent work.

The vendor contacted me on the first weekday following my "Deal" purchase, and quickly settled upon a mutually agreeable service date for the following Monday. They performed the sealcoating on the scheduled date, executing the job per the "Deal" description --- edging around the driveway where necessary, masking off sidewalks and walkways, and then applying an even sealcoat to the driveway. They even took the time to string a "do not cross" tape across the bottom of the driveway before departing. They called to chat with me later that day, in order to reiterate the necessary drying time before use. They performed a quality job, just as described in the "Deal" text ---- I'd gladly call upon them again in a few years when I will (eventually) need to have my driveway sealcoated again, and will recommend them to my neighbors.

Tris State arrived on time and finished the driveway in under an hour. My driveway was over a 1000' so I got additional coverage at .30 a square foot. The price was very competitive and oil base sealer is the best.
