First -- I want to say that I have never given a really negative review on Angie's list. After this encounter, I felt obligated to do so. This may be a great company that provides quality service, but this was not my experience today. I called WaterCheck today to find out about the filter replacement in the water treatment system that has been installed in this house by the previous owners. The person who answered the phone found the account and started by saying that "they were supposed to be replaced in May." I asked if all 4 of the filters that I could see needed replacement, and her response was, "well, some of them are replaced every ten years." I asked which ones were replaced every ten years, and she said "I don't know." I then asked her what the filters that DID need replacement cost, and, after a moment on hold, said that she did not know what they cost, but that a service call to do so was $125.00. I explained that I would be happy to replace them myself, and I asked: "if I come to your office, could I purchase the filters?" and was told that yes, I could. I assumed they would tell me what they cost when I was there. I asked if there were instructions explaining which ones needed to be replaced, and how to replace them. She put me on hold; when she returned, she said "no, there are no instructions." Confused by her response, I asked how I could learn how to replace them if there were no instructions, and the person on the phone said, "I don't know." I asked her if someone there could explain to me how to replace them (a technician, perhaps) and she said that the technicians "are in and out." At that point, I said to her, "if you were me, and had just been told that you could purchase these filters at your office, but no one knew what they would cost, and that there were no instructions accompanying them, what would you do?" and, after a moment, she said, "hmm. I don't know." Feeling like this was a dead-end, I asked if the filters could be purchased anywhere else, and she said that "no, I don't know anywhere else." I then heard her talking with someone else in the office, after which point she said to me, "you could watch the technician do it the first time in your house, and then maybe know how." Completely exasperated by then, I ended the conversation by saying, "I think it would be easier if you just said, at the beginning of the phone call, "No, you cannot buy and replace them yourself; our technicians have to do this. And we do not know of anywhere else you can purchase the filters." I'm left with a bitter feeling about what may be a wonderful company, because the customer service was so poor. I don't want to share this with neighbors because the other reviews are so positive, but I hope the company sees this and will better-train and equip their phone staff to help customers.
Description of Work: I called to ask about replacing the filters in the reverse-osmosis treatment system that had been installed in this house.

We had not been happy with the previous company?s responsiveness. Contacted the folks at Water Check and they came out to replace filters and look at the system. Testing determined the old system was not functioning as needed. The timer was out of sync and the system was not effective in treating the water. Adam tested the water and recommended different system. We scheduled to have the system installed at a time convenient for us. Adam returned during eh pre arraigned installation window. He installed the new system, removed the old, and provided instruction on how to manage the system. He also ensured the water was the proper Ph level before he departed. Adam is knowledgeable and very professional. The work was completed timely and very professional. It was a pleasure working with the folks at Watercheck!
Description of Work: Initially requested a check and service our old system. In the end we decided to replace the system and installed a new water treatment system.

I've used these guys for years, so when I moved into a new house last winter, I had them do install a new system at my new house. They are great to work with, very nice and professional guys. They installed all my new gear in January this year. Since then we've had a few minor issues, and every time they are extremely responsive and have covered any eventuality under warranty. Any time I have a problem, they have always gone way out of their way to make it right, right away.

We were having problem with water. Contacted Watercheck they came out and stated the time of day was 12 hours off. They reset backwashed and informed us that the acid neutralizer need to be dumped and rebedded. We had that done for $340.00. A week later still had a water problem, called them back and we were told they believed the dump and rebeding would have taken care of problem. Know are told we needed a new system. $1,100.00 more for new system.

hey (member name removed) you said on angies list you will not use me again i am a little confused. i went way beyond what i had to do to resolve you well problem. i got the factory to give you a new pump and i spent time replacing parts in your well that truly did not need replacing. As it turned out the problem was with your existing cross line. i also found a reliable cotractor to locate and repair your leak. I think you are being very unfair in your review. art gilliam

Our water was VERY briney (salty) and foamy in the mornings after the softener tried to regenerate overnight, and it seemed the softener bypass line wasn't really working (if we were up early and showered during regeneration, we were covered with smelly, salty, slimey water). I called WaterCheck since they installed the system, described the situation, and they said it sounded like the system was using too much salt; they would send a technician out to service the unit the next day. The technician was prompt and polite. He clicked the system through the regeneration stages, then he turned down the amount of salt the system would use (just lowers the water level in the brine tank), and he was done. $90. His fix sort of helped the issues, but it didn't fix them. I recently called another company out to service the unit, and this guy actually took the entire head of the system apart to inspect (now I know it's not all that complicated--just a few screws); turns out all of the fittings were clogged from the high iron content in the well water in our area, and the piston was worn beyond limits. No wonder the regeneration and the bypass lines weren't working properly. He told me the normal service life for the piston was about 5 yrs, so it should have been a routine check by the WaterCheck technician. Plus, this other company actually performed all this work of a true service call for $5 less than WaterCheck. I figure if you're coming out for a service call, then you should SERVICE the unit. Now I know. I basically wasted $90 on a and quot;serviceand quot; that WaterCheck didn't perform. I, personally, would NOT trust them for future work.
Description of Work: Service call for my home's water softener system (WaterCheck installed the water softener new when my house was built 5.5 yrs ago). This was my first call to them for service.

It is a family business and Art is a retired state trooper. They couldn't be nicer people. We have been pleased with their service.
Description of Work: Most of the people in our town have well water and use him. There is a tank that feeds the system that had gone out on me. He came to look at it and said it was poorly installed but it had started working again. He purchased the part I needed but since the motor was still working didn't replace it until it completely went out to save me money. He has everything to do with water system purification, service and repair, installation, and maintenance.

I would say this guy wanted to take me for about $5000 to take away equipment that he could then repair and sell again, and also sell me new equipment I didn't need. I also could not rent the place out due to having bad water and so it cost me in that way, too, although other repairs were also needed to rent it, water is certainly a necessity!
Description of Work: I asked to have my water checked because there was an odor and it appeared discolored. Ken came out from Water Check and was very personable. He tested the water and said it was rusty and had radium in it due to the water equipment not having salt in it. He put one bag of salt in and said it might need two. He then said salt wouldn't work, acted empathically, and said I would need new equipment, it was totally ruined. The new equipment would cost $3000 plus $300 for delivery. Then he said he would take away my old equipment (which he said could not be repaired but he could use it for parts) for free and in exchange for this useless equipment, he would give me new equipment for $2200. What a deal! I almost took the bait, but thankfully, I went to H20 Tommy who fixed the water equipment for under $50 (I still have to have it re-tested to make sure). Buyer beware! Just because the guy is smart and personable. Don't buy.
