Visit #1: It started on 8/26/2011 with an appointment that Bay Breeze said would not be earlier than 8:30 a.m. I arrived at the house at 8:15, and they had already come and gone. I called the office, they contacted the servicemen, and they returned. They spent a few minutes troubleshooting, found that the igniter was bad, but they said they did not have an ignitor with them. They also said that the charge for the service call was $115, and there would be another charge, cost unknown, to return and install the ignitor. Visit #2: On 9/02/2011, a different tech installed the new igniter. He could not make the furnace work. He said there would have to be another call with another tech to fix it, but did not know if there would be another cost. This unsuccessful call cost $210 additional, which they identified as the cost of the igniter. I asked the technician to have a supervisor call me before we spent any more money. The technician did not leave a receipt, and no one called until about three weeks later. Not as bad as the first visit, but I had spent $325.00 and had nothing to show for it. In the meantime, I requested a copy of the receipt for Visit #2. The office staff was very nice to deal with, but they sent the receipt for the wrong visit (Visit #1). Bay Breeze finally called about three weeks later and made an appointment for Sept. 30. Visit #3: A senior technician came out, right on time, but he was only marginally polite, and he made it appear that it was a real bother for him to be there. He turned the furnace on, and I believe it came on by itself several minutes later. He said it didn't have anything wrong with it. He performed system checks, and left a few minutes later. It was a very unpleasant visit, but at least there was no additional cost. Overall, it was a terrible experience. There was never any effort to make me a satisfied customer. A year has passed, and there have been no further problems with the furnace. On 3/7/14, the President of Bay Breeze sent me a very nice letter of apology, and enclosed a refund check for $115, the amount of the diagnostic fee in visit #1. This effectively reduces the total cost to $210, a reasonable charge. I accept his apology, and I hope he has implemented procedures and training to ensure better customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Visit #1: Performed troubleshooting of gas furnace. Charged $115. Visit #2: Brought & installed igniter 4 days later. Could not make the furnace work, and could not say whether there would be another charge when they came back to fix it. I asked tech to have a supervisor call me. Charged $210 for visit #2. Visit #3: No call from Bay Breeze for three weeks, until they called & came out to recheck the system. No charge this time.

Company representative explained fully the options we had to replace the old air conditioner, with his recommendation for the unit that would best serve our particular needs. He provided information on all current rebates offered, and made all the deductions to give us the best price. The installation was completed promptly as scheduled, and clean up was complete at the end of their work day. We are totally satisfied with Bay Breeze and their service.

I have used Bay Breeze for service on the old system that now the AC Coil drain pan has rusted and was leaking. Service by them in the past has been prompt and professional and solved all needs. In this case I wanted to have them provide an estimate. William provided a solid estimate for a Trane system. I decided to go with another provider mainly due to cost and warranty differences. I will keep Bay Breeze in mind based on past service.

Overall, the experience was great. Talking with Ryan in the office he was very knowledgeable of the symptoms, and scheduled the tech for later that afternoon. RJ was the tech who worked on the system, and he explained everything to me as he was diagnosing and working on the resolution. They have a $25 discount coupon on Angie's List, so I was able to apply that to my service call.
Description of Work: My downstairs gas furnace would not keep the flame burning longer than 20 seconds before going out and restarting the process over and over until the system timed out. I called Bay Breeze upon recommendation from my sister who had a great experience with them. They told me over the phone it sounded like a dirty flame sensor and scheduled someone for that afternoon. The tech first cleaned the sensor and that did not solve the problem. He then focused on the fresh air intake flue. I had a deck installed this summer and they had run the band boards along the back of the house where the flue line is vented outside. Somehow the deck band boards were interfering with the fresh air intake. The tech cut the flue line inside at the furnace and let the furnace use inside air to feed the air intake and that solved the problem (note this is not the exhaust vent for the gas vapors). They told me since the basement was unfinished that this was fine, but when I finish the basement I need to make sure the furnace room has vents in the walls to allow air to get to the furnace. They said the intake was likely blocked or was not getting enough air from the outside where the deck band boards were installed against the house. Since I am familiar with working with PVC pipe, I told them I would deal with and check the pipe for any blockage. After they left I cut the flue line just before it went to the outside wall and added an additional PVC extension to extend the outside distance from the deck band board by one inch. I reconnected the PVC vent pipe to the unit and it is running fine.

The overall process of selecting a new HVAC system was made easier with Bay Breeze Heating and Cooling. They followed up a few days after providing an estimate and were very helpful in answering questions and providing advice on several options. Once the contract was agreed to and signed, they were out within a week to complete the installation. There are nice extras to their base installation, including new linesets and an EZ Trap. After the installation we had several questions around thermostat settings and overall functionality of the system. They were available by phone and email to answer our questions. One of the owners, Ray, even came out to double check all settings and wiring. We were completely satisfied with Bay Breeze Heating and Cooling and would recommend them for any of your HVAC needs.
Description of Work: We needed to replace our HVAC system, so we contacted 3 companies for estimates. All of the estimates came back within a few hundred dollars. What differentiated the companies was the responsiveness, follow up, and over all customer service. Bay Breeze Heating and Cooling came out on top. Once we agreed to the work and signed the contract they were out within a week to install the new HVAC system. This included new Trane AC unit, Trane variable speed furnace, humidifier, and Honeywell IAQ thermostat. We are completely satisfied with the work and new system. We would recommend Bay Breeze Heating and Cooling.

All seemingly fine until first cold day it was needed. Smoke came out of vents! Call was promptly responded too. It was determined that the unit was not installed properly.Thought all was fine. Few months later - no heat. Call was promptly responded too and fixed. Since unit under warrenty, and with previous problems, set up a service contract. No notification for spring/fall checkups ever made. Dropped Bay Breeze for Blue Dot. We should have gone with Blue Dot first - they are great in service and response.

I was satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: My furnace pump stopped working which led to water damage to my carpet. It was a very hot day and the company had multiple calls so they couldn't get a service truck out to me that day. The customer rep suggested that I turn off the A/C do no damage would occur to the heat pump or my house since water was involved. The company did get to me promptly the next morning. They determined that the pump was old and that it made more sense to replaced it. They explained in detail the problem with my existing furnace pump, why it wasn't working and recommended that it be replaced.

We contacted four HVAC companies for an estimate. Bay Breeze Heating & Cooling, Inc was the clear choice. We dealt with Steve Allred. Mr. Allred provided three estimates based on different choices of Trane products. The benefits and drawbacks of each estimate were thoroughly explained. Information on available Trane and BGE rebates was provided with the estimate. None of the other companies provided rebate information with the estimate. Mr. Allred came to the house to take a look at the current system prior to developing the estimates. One company only gave an over the phone estimate. Two other companies did come to the house but took only a cursory look at the existing equipment. Once we decided on Bay Breeze, we met again with Mr. Allred to answer any final questions we had about the system we were purchasing. He was thorough and professional. The appointment for the installation was within a week. Things went smoothly during the installation. The technicians arrived on time. Were competent. They were careful to remove any debris created by the installation. The work area was left clean and neat. We had a follow-up meeting with Mr. Allred about two weeks after the installation. He wanted to make sure the system was working as expected and that we had no further questions. The system works very well. There is a noticeable difference in the cooling and heating from the old system to the new Trane system. We highly recommend Bay Breeze Heating & Cooling, Inc.

The utility company recommended them to me. They are in the area and they provide energy efficient products, which met the guidelines for getting the energy savings from the utility company and for my federal taxes. They have been in the area for quite a while. I would certainly recommend them. They were very pleasant and very professional. They come back when I call them so they are very responsive. The brand they provided is nationally known and I expect it to perform as they said. Time will tell. It was a good price and good quality but the customer needs to know what they want. They offer follow up service for maintenance work. I think their price for that is lower than my old contract.

Price quoted was ok. Print up they provided contained all information needed. Salesman actually said to me during the estimate that "the company nearly closed our doors over the winter due to lack of business". That sealed the deal for me as someone I wouldn't work with, ever.

While we found the estimate for this work a bit higher than expected, our previous experience woth this company has always been good. Thay respond quickly to reported problems, are very professional in their customer relations, and always follow up with a call from a supervisor to ask about your experience and whether all your questions have been answered, and expectations met. The new system has performed beautifully and is saving us hundreds of dollars a month in electric bills.

First day heat was turned on - smoke came out of unit. The sales guy was called. He had installers/service guys out within a half hour. Found that installation was not done correctly. Fixed and apologized. All is OK now but shouldn't they have tested the system when it was installed?

The crew of 4 men arrived on time and proceeded to tear out all of the old duct work in our crawl space. I might add that this was all original 1963 materials. They were able to start the job of replacing all the duct work the same day and this required wrapping all the new duct work with insulation. The 2nd day, they returned on time once again and went right to work finishing the job. I have never seen a happier group of guys doing a most unpleasant job. Never heard anyone complaining about being in such cramped spaces. They finished up on the 2nd day and we are very pleased. I surely would recommend this company to anyone needing any kind of heating or air conditioning service.
Description of Work: The job was to remove all the old duct work from under the house, which is a crawl space, and then to replace it all with insulated metal duct work. They also installed a new heat register in the kitchen floor where there had been none and also installed one register in the crawl space to allow a little heat to escape under there.
