+ -1 moreWe are changing out an electric cooktop for a gas one. Doug was very responsive and the whole thing went very well. Doug did a very professional job. He pays great attention to detail. He had the Harford County inspector out to inspect his work which passed, of course. After he tested his work, he discovered a gas leak and took pain staking time tracking down the leak. It turns out it was our gas fireplace and had nothing to do with the gas line he had just installed. We were so grateful that he was able to pinpoint the leak so we can have it fixed. Doug performed the service over two days and really spent a lot of time tracking down that gas leak and did not charge us any extra. I would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: Doug installed a gas line from the basement to the cooktop in the kitchen.

+ 0 moreGreat! I called on a Wednesday and he replaced the hot water heater the next day. They do everything for you--permit, arranging for inspector, etc.
Description of Work: Doug replaced our hot water heater. It is vented to the outside vs. through a flue, so it is not a simple install. Doug worked tirelessly to get it done. His work is meticulous and thorough. I should also add that he came out on another occasion and didn't charge me anything to look at it when it was working "on and off". His office is so professional and responsive--if he is going to be later than expected, you get timely phone calls. I would recommend him to anyone.

+ -1 moreWe called Bamford, and Doug was out quickly to give us an estimate. He was professional and quoted us a fair price, so we decided to have him do the repair. He was out a couple days later to do the work. He made made all of the necessary arrangement with the county so at the start of the day, the right people were here to get things going. Our job was complicated by underground wires, and a nearby tree, so it took longer than expected, but he was dedicated and worked here until 12:30 AM (at times in the rain) so he could get our water turned back on. We were very happy with the results and would recommend him to anyone that needs his services.
Description of Work: We had a pipe leaking in the front yard, so we needed someone to come out and dig it up and replace it.

He helped me out with a multi-step project involving other contractors and he made sure that his work was performed on schedule, exceeded expectations and he was very flexible so that the project got done. His wife kept me informed about scheduled appointments and delays, and permits and other paperwork were all in order. He secured the permit, provided a written estimate and provided detailed explanations of each step of the process and what I should expect. He also pointed out non-plumbing safety problems that required attention – something he did not have to do. Other contractors on the project complimented his work. It was a pleasure doing business with Bamford Plumbing – and I recommend them highly!

+ 0 moreI was totally appreciated Mr. Bamford and thought his work examplified quality. The work to be performed was complete and professional done by the end of day. I do recommend this plumber to my friends.
Description of Work: I purchased a foreclosed home that had not been occupied for at least a year. When I purchased the problem I was aware that the water heater had rust showing on the lower seam where base meets the side walls, and some time in the past there had been a frozen pipe issue that busted the cold water line to the washing machine receptable box in the wall. I had concerns about the health of the pipes in general and I wanted the plumber at the house when we turned the water back on. Mr. Bamford was at my house the day I requested and his recommendations to resolve my concerns were helpful. I was able to make decisions about not replacing faucets due to cost but the rest of the work suggested by the home inspector were done by Mr. Bamford. He was aware of county code requirements and his office applied for the permit and scheduled the building inspector. I thought Mr Bamford was competitively priced and his work was professional and well done. When I do my kitchen remodel I will bring Mr. Bamford back for that work. The building inspector even commented how well the work was performed.

+ 0 moreHe arrived on time with all of the equipment he needed. He raised the heater off of the ground during installation as we requested. He stayed until the whole job was completed even though the space he had to work in made it take longer than expected. One small drip was noticed the next day at one of the sink joints and he came over quickly and corrected the problem. We have not had any problems since.
Description of Work: We replaced our Hot Water Heater and the plumbing for our washroom sink and added additional shutoff valves.

+ -1 moreThey couldn't unclog the drain for the first time, so I called them again. They came out the same day and within a few hours. They unclogged it and left within 5 minutes. It went very smoothly and very quickly. I didn't have any problem. They were expensive. The quality was fine.

They were a little later than originally quoted, but were very communicative about when they would be there and were very professional when they did arrive (never mind that it was 8:30 at night!). They replaced the check valve, replaced the pump, and cleaned out the pit of all the silt and gravel and crap that had collected in the pit. A dirty job, but they didn't shirk it. They did a very nice job and cleaned up as much as they could afterward (I had to do a little more). They were quick, professional, thorough, and friendly. I'd use them again.
Description of Work: Bamford Plumbing came out within 24 hours to emergency replace my sump pump, which had acquired a dead short and proceeded to knock out the power to my basement.

+ 0 moreVery positive experience. Doug arrived later than expected due to duration of previous job, but I was notified in advance and asked whether I wanted to keep my appt. or reschedule. He had things in working order for me very quicky and even took time to test a couple of appliances.
Description of Work: Doug cleaned the drain on my bathtub. He also checked and tightened bolts on my toliet tank that were leaking (they were left loose by tank rebuild done by another plumber). He tested my dishwasher and washing machine for leaks.

+ -1 moreThey had great communication over the phone with me. I called on Saturday, and his wife explained he would be there first thing Monday, between 9-10. He arrived on time. He explained the entire process to my husband & I upfront, letting us know in what situation there may be an additional price. Luckily, he was able to correct the issue with the estimated price. He replaced a part on my tub, and showed me how to correct the problem myself in the future. The price was reasonable, and he left my home clean. I was so surrpised, because I did not have to pay extra for him coming out on the holiday. I look forward to doing business with him for my future plumbing needs.

+ 0 moreThe service was handled quickly and professionally. Doug was initially supposed to come out to the house on Tuesday; however, he was running late on another job and had to reschedule. His wife/admin assistant called me two hours prior to his scheduled arrival time and told me about it. She promptly rescheduled for the next day during the same timeframe. Overall, it was a pleasant exeprience, and I wasn't completely shocked by the price. I do plan on replacing my thermal expansion tank and using Bamford Plumbing to do so.
Description of Work: I just prurchased a new home and I noticed that I had previous water stains on the ceilings in my living room and basement. I also had no hot water whatsoever. I told Doug about the initial problem (stains) and he told me how to observe the conditions and see if anything changed before he came over and started cutting up the drywall. When I started working around in the house, I found out about the hot water problem. Doug came over and filled the water hearte, re-lit the water heater, and ran hot water through the lines. No leaks were observed after he did that, but he still told me to keep an eye out on things. He also found a problem with my thermal expansion tank, and he explained to me in detail what the problem was and how it would affect me in the future if it wasn't taken care of.

+ 0 moreThe work was done quite professionally and he was very willing to answer any questions I had and discuss any alternatives for future projects. He got there during the arrival window but I did not know how long the project would take from start to end so my schedule got in the way. When I had to leave he was able to stop his work in the house, do some prep work outside and go to another customer while I was gone. We came back when he was done at the other job and completed my job even though it went late into the evening. He cleaned up the work area and hauled away the old tanks when he left. Everything is working well. I would definitely use him, and recommend him, in the future.
Description of Work: I had a Well pressure tank, a flow switch, and a Water Heater replaced.

Doug (owner) came out the same day and fixed it all up for us, making sure it was tested and good to go. He was very friendly and easy-going, as well as diligent and professional.
