Very poor, sloppy repairs performed at my home during my absence. They declined to repair some areas saying that it wouldn't be seen after I painted. When I called to complain, the owner stated that I had received my time in accordance with the Big Deal. He stated that they would only do additional work if I paid, despite the fact that his two workers did not spend the full time per the Big Deal. (It was supposed to be four work hours. They performed less than two. Two men at my home for about 45 minutes.) When I could not reach a resolution I contacted Angie's List and received a partial refund - one half of what I paid.

They arrived on time and was very professional start working right of way. Performed very well.

I was extremely impressed with the owners' honesty. Initially, he was called to repair water damage resulting from Hurricane Sandy.My husband and I weren't quite certain of the origin of the leak. Upon his initial inspection he took a visual look at the outside of the house and showed us where he suspected that the water was leaking. He suggested calling a roofer prior to him repairing the ceiling. Everything the handyman pointed out as trouble spots on the roof were confirmed by the roofer. When we called the handyman to come back and do the repairs on the ceiling we also told him to repair any wet rot. After tearing down the ceiling, he called us in to show us that there was no wet rot. Overall, we found the owner to be extremely knowledgeable, punctual, professional, expediant, and very neat.. His prices were quite reasonably. I, definitely, plan to use him again.

I hired J&D Handyman Service to repair my ceiling drywall. I needed to reschedule the appointment and tried to contact them 3 weeks in advance. I never received a response. I enlisted help from Angie's List to contact them as well. So my 3 voicemails + email + Angie's List voicemail + Angie's List email over 3 weeks did not elicit a single response. Nothing. Angie's list provided a refund for lack of services rendered. So after all these numerous calls and emails from both myself and Angie's List did not result in a single response from J&D Handyman.

I bought the Angie?s List package so that I could get my drywall repaired. I called the company and left a message outlining the problem, where we lived, and our schedule. No one called me back. I called again. No one called back. I called a third time. This time someone called me back and said that they call again to set up a time to do the repair. No one called back. At this point, I contacted Angie?s List and requested a refund.

He had difficulty finding some of the materials he needed, so there was a lot of driving around northern Virginia at their hourly rate. I wonder if telephone calls would have worked, to save some time. As soon as the work was done, I was called for the final payment. I mentioned then that there was roughness on several of the railings, and have been disappointed that there was no followup. I did pay in full, immediately, having told them of my concerns. It was a quality job that looks terrific, so I'm sorry no one called about our concerns.

This big deal was purchased on August 19, 2012. It was a great price and my daughter was excited about having someone come in to do the job. Within a few weeks of the purchase my daughter contacted J & D Handyman Service LLC by phone to set up the job. After a brief discussion the company person said she would call back with some available dates for my daughter to chose from. That return call never came. After several very busy months my daughter again called the number listed for the company. She still wanted to have this job done. She left a message asking for a return of her call so she could schedule the work. Once again there was no response to her call. In the first week of December she e-mailed the company. She has never heard from them.

The owner called the previous day to confirm the service, and he and his co-worker arrived exactly on time. They painted the finished side of my basement, and it looks great. They were quick but careful and left no mess behind. I needed a little more work done than was covered by the deal, and we negotiated a fair price and they were able to finish that as well.

I enjoyed the time spent with the people from J&D. Good people. For the first appointment they showed up on time, got right to work, were prepared, thoughtful and trustable to the point that I really wanted them to come back. My problem is that I never received, despite asking a few times, the receipt for the services they performed and they canceled on me at what to me was the 'last minute' for a follow-up appointment.

The team arrived on time and asked what I needed and then got to work. They did the job and then cleaned up and were very good to work with.

.Arrived on time with supervisor. Work was a little more involved than anticipated. Supervisor stayed with crew and actively helped with repairs. Sanded and primed new drywall before leaving. I had areas painted that afternoon. Great Job

To say it came out acceptable is really an understatement. I no longer wanted to persue working with them and did my own cosmetic repair to window sill. Their outward appearance is very professional, friendly and knowledegable.

Overall, the project went well. J&D was responsive when I called to schedule the project. A team of 3 workers showed up on time. They covered the work area and cleaned up after. Because the patched ceiling was not painted (we still have not had the chance to paint the ceiling), we cannot tell exactly how even or smooth the patches are. They look fine for now.

I called to schedule work with the company after purchasing a Deal on Angie's List. It was very easy to schedule and the workmen were very prompt, arriving when they said they would. They performed the work quickly and well. They also cleaned up after the job was completed. I was pleased enough to ask for a quote on some other work that I would like to have done in the New Year. I would definitely hire them in the future.

They did a great job. We had had a leak in our upstairs bathroom (which is over the kitchen) and the plumber had to open up the kitchen ceiling to fix it. Angie's List had a Big Deal from J&D for either painting or drywall repair for $99. I provided the drywall and they provided everything else. Due to illness and surprise events, I had to reschedule at least two times. They were very accommodating, punctual, and professional. They covered everything, cleaned up and did such a good job, there will be very little sanding to do prior to painting.

The job went well, except that the painter did not put down any drop cloths to protect the wood floor and fireplace mantle. As a result he got paint on my wood fireplace mantle. He couldn't or didn't know how to fix it so he waived the $35 out of area fee. I would have preferred to have it fixed, but I didn't trust him to do anything further.

They arrived on time and my husband reports that they did a wonderful job and were careful about clean-up. We will contact them when we need painting.

Two gentlemen from J&D arrived before 8 AM (!). We had missed each other on the phone to confirm the appointment, but I left a message that all was still on. I showed them the problem spots. They lay down plastic tarps and got to work. While I thought they would do the entire bathroom, one of them explained that most of the walls were OK and didn't need skimming -- we had sanded the adhesive down smoothly. So they repaired the wall in the hallway (looks great so now I can paint!) and the 3 wall sections around the tub with the most damage, then spot repaired various holes in the rest of the walls. They were finished in 40 minutes. The guy who worked in the bathroom showed me how to finish off the rest of the walls that didn't need skimming. then showed me the proper sanders and told me what kind of sandpaper to use. They rolled up the tarps and carried them away. They were polite and professional, and I would use their services again.

I ended up getting a refund for the deal because I didn't end up needing the work. When I spoke with them on the phone they were very professional and courteous.

A four-man team came out for an hour to provide the 4 hours of labor that I paid for. The disadvantage is that the repair hadn't dried so never got sanded or finished. They left it looking unfinished, but they did a good job on what they did.

This company never answered or returned my phone calls. I got a refund for the deal.

We were not able to get our schedules coordinated to have the work done. They were professional, but they were just too busy. I would consider using them in the future.

Purchased a ?Big Deal? for a handyman for a day. No problems scheduling appointment. Spoke to Jerome and told him what was on my list. He provided expert guidance on what I needed to purchase to prepare for their arrival. I received a confirmation of the appointment in advance and they showed up promptly as scheduled. Not only were they prompt, but efficient. They started right as they entered my home. The handle on the screen door was lose and they tightened it just because it needed to be done, not because I asked. Truly they treated my home like their own and paid attention to detail and checked to ensure I was happy with each project as they finished. They finished my list and were able to do a couple of things I thought we wouldn?t have time for. I was so pleased I enlisted them for another job of installing a new storm door and again they were quick and efficient and my entry way is now a lot warmer and looks wonderful! This was a project I thought I'd wait another month for, but with the stellar service we got it finished. They did a great job and I have all the confidence in the world that they are my ?handymen of choice? going forward. I would highly recommend this company!
