We called AP Matthews after they were referred by a friend. Our HVAC went out just before the 4th of July holiday. We called the company we had used for 20 years and they told us they could not get to us until after the holiday. When they came they told us they could not fit us into their schedule until August 20. I called AP Matthews on July 8, they came and looked at our unit on the 9th, emailed a proposal that evening. We accepted and they installed the new unit on July 13. The servicemen arrived when they said they would, were quiet, polite, and efficient. They cleaned up everything when they were done, explained the new system to me and were gone by 4pm. They also submitted the paperwork for our rebate from BGE and followed up to make sure we received it. I would definitely recommend AP Matthews!

Although they were very busy, someone was able to come the same day to fix our air conditioner that stopped working during the heat wave of really hot days. The repair person was pleasant, professional and replaced the compressor and added freon. I'm pleased with their responsiveness and the quick repair, and would use them again.

It all went fine except that he did not show up to make sure everything was installed right. He was also going to get him wife to send us websites where we could order new filters (they aren't the typical size), but we didn't get those either. However, they did send us information about the rebate from the electric company, info on the tax rebate and our immediate rebate from Trane. So overall, everything was very good!

Our heat pump (compressor) died during the first heat wave of the season (around Memorial Day). Our regular AC maintenance guy gave us a verbal estimate of around $6000 to install a new Goodman heat pump with a 10 year warrantee. He never would give me a written estimate, so I moved on. AP Matthews came out for an estimate approx 24 hours after I called. Paul was right on time, courteous, and professional. He also suggested an extra air return to help with a humidity problem in the basement. I was very happy with the estimate, which included a Trane with a 12 year warrantee. I tried to get two other companies out (to get a 2nd written estimate, for sanity's sake). Both of the other companies missed their appointments! So I scheduled AP Matthews. They were able to come out in less than a week. The day of the install went well. They did good work. They helped me customize some things (like gravel around the outdoor unit, and moving a cabinet out of the way inside). They also helped with the paperwork for a BG&E rebate. So now I am sitting in tax deductible, energy efficient, new coolant (r134a) powered, and pleasant 74 air cooled degrees. I highly recommend AP Matthews. They are now my Heating and AC company.

I am so pleased with AP Mathews. I logged onto Angie's List on Sunday, 6/13/10, at 8pm - I looked through the AC folks listed online and then saw that AP Mathews had an online contact form. I filled it out and they called within 2 hours and scheduled an appointment for the very next day between 9-11am. Matt arrived just after 9am and fixed both AC unit problems within 2 hours. He was polite and informative.

A/C fan not working (90 degrees plus out side and the start of Memorial Weekend). Responded to my e-mail request for an appointment within 15 minutes and scheduled the repair for the following day. Arrived at scheduled time, diagnosed and repaired problem within 30 min. Was given some information regarding care of the A/C unit and how to avoid the same problem in the future. Very pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient.

Service rep was pleasant on the phone and arrived on time in window provided.He had the parts available to fix the problem in his vehicle.My AC was up and running again in no time.Any problems in the future and I will surely be calling on A.P. Mathews Heating & A/C Co.again.They were a pleasure to deal with and the price was very reasonable. I would strongly recommend anyone experiencing AC or Heat problems to give them a call.

Very friendly on the phone and could schedule an appointment within a few days. The tech was prompt, polite, and curteous. He provided information about the unit and probably have a slow leak that will need to be fixed eventually. I will use them to install a new unit when the time comes and highly recommend this company!

I noticed that my A/C was not working on a Tuesday evening (well after normal business hours). I used their website to request that someone visit my house ASAP to diagnose the problem. I was called later that evening to schedule the visit (this was very welcome as I wanted to get the problem fixed as soon as humanly possible). They were able to see me the same week which was fantastic (Thursday morning). The gentlemen arrived within the two hour window I was given (towards the end of the two hours). They were very professional and had the problem diagnosed within 5 minutes (a bad capacitor on the outdoor unit). Not only that, but they had the necessary part required to fix the problem. They were at my house for no more than 15 minutes (including the time it took to write up and settle the bill) and at the end I had a working air conditioner. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend A P Mathews Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone in the area.

They did an excellent job. They were punctual and professional. I would definitely use them again.

I called and spoke with a very helpful and friendly person at the business. The service person came out the same afternoon without extra charge. The coupon was honored and service completed. Answered all my questions and didn't try to charge me for extra things or sell me anything. Very pleased with the whole experience. Everyone else I called wanted to charge me more.

The overall experience was excellent. The repairman came on time for each visit. There was no pressure to get rid of the unit and buy a new one. When I asked for an explanation about what could be wrong, I got a reasonable answer. The repairman's attention to making sure the new motor was working correctly before he left was unexpected - I've had too many experiences with repairmen who make a quick fix and are out the door before I've found the problem hasn't really been solved.

I thought my a/c needed freon. AP Matthews returned my call within 15 minutes of me leaving a message. They sent a technician out the same week and he determined that the tech who had previously serviced my system in January (from another company) shut off the main switch to the a/c, which caused it to blow warm air. He also checked my system to make sure it had enough freon and was working properly. He did not try to cheat me or convince me to buy a service contract. In fact, because the job was so minor they knocked $15 off the cost of the service charge. How cool is that?!? A.P. Matthews has my business from now on!! I look forward to using them and recommending them to my friends for many years to come.

I was very impressed with the prompt response when I initially left a service request online at their web site. Technicina was very pleasant, work quicly and purposefully

I put in a service request at the company's website on a Sunday morning, recieved a call back that afternoon. I was able to schedule an appointment the following Tuesday. I recieved a time slot of 2-4, tech arrived at 2:30. He check over my system, found that the heating elements were not functioning due to a disconnected wire. Fixed the problem and was on his way in less than an hour. Heater works fine now. Not sure how much a standard service call runs, thought $115 was a bit high, but it was acceptable seeing how fast they were able to come out. Also, I forgot to ask how much it would be when I made the appointment.

I called over the New Year's weekend to get an electronic thermostat installed and my heater checked. I was given an appointment between 12-2 but they were running late and arrived around 3:30. Once here however, they were thorough.

Then a funny thing happened was that my system started working again. It did not seem to have the same problem they said it did. They wanted to replace the whole system. They did tell me that the $100.00 I gave for the assessment would go toward any service work that I have done.

I have been a satisfied customer of AP Mathews for eight years. This is the second house I have used their services for. Paul is very polite and knowledgeable. His prices are reasonable and his customer service is excellent. I wish all the contractors I hire were as excellent.

Repair person was on time and took care of problem quickly. He was professional.

It was an excellent experience because the service good, they came on time, they were friendly, they knew what they were doing, and the price was pretty good.

After our heat pump failed we decided to replace it with a more efficient system. We called 3 companies and A P Mathews was the lowest bidder. They emailed us an estimate and we gave them the go ahead. The next day they dropped off the equipment and installed it the following morning. I have yet to receive a written quote from their competitor. Their quote over the phone for the same equipment was $1500.00 more.

I came home from vacation and noticed that the rug in front of the furnace was soaking. I had turned on the air conditioner and noted that it was dripping water where the filter was. I had my son look at it and he didn't know what to do. That was Friday. On Saturday we turned the air conditioner off. I looked up Angie's List and found AP Mathews. I called that morning and left a message. An hour later I got a call stating that someone could come out that day, but that it wouldn't be until after 2 p.m. We said ok and waited around. At 5:30 p.m I called again and left a message as to whether they were still coming? At 6:30 p.m the phone rang and it was someone from AP Mathews saying they could come then. My husband told them if they wanted to wait until Sunday that would be o.k. They said they'd be there between 8 and 10 a.m, closer to 10 a.m. At 10:15 a.m, I called and left a message asking where they were. We sat around waiting until about 1 p.m and gave up. We got no response until Monday morning. We had a message saying they could come out and apologizing for the lack of response on the weekend. I asked that they still come, based on the Angie's List reviews. Paul came on time and told us that the no-show person was someone who worked for them who had called in sick that Monday. He was very nice and apologetic. He looked at the furnace which was over 20 years old and pronounced it wasn't worth fixing. He could replace it the same week. I told him I would be out of town the rest of the week, but I'd talk to my husband and get back to him the following week. His wife called back and left a quote on the price of the furnace. They called back the following Monday. I asked that they put in a programmable thermostat that we bought over the weekend at no extra charge, to make up for the no-show the weekend before. Paul topped that by saying he would supply the thermostat, an upgrade from what we bought, at no extra cost. I told him we could do it on Wednesday. He said they'd be here 9 or 9:30 a.m. On Wednesday, his helpers showed up between 8 and 9 a.m. He showed up later. All work was done as promised and he even agreed to look for some weird size filters for my beach condo. I'm waiting to hear about the filters. He's a very nice competent person and I would definitely recommend him. He more than made-up for his helpers no-show the one weekend!

They were quick to respond. Arrived within 10 minutes of the time they indicated, thoroughly checked the unit before determining the exterior unit was dead. Then made a great effort to check the existing interior unit and determine only the exterior unit needed to be replaced. Same day were able to get a compatible exterior unit and install it.
