Although the air conditioner would not start at all, I called requesting an AC tune-up as I suspected it may have needed a freon charge. The technician told me up front, the freon would be extra. After checking the inside and outside components, he found a loose wire connection in the outside air conditioner. He fixed the connection and the air conditioner worked great. He also checked the freon and said it was good, I did not need a charge. The technician answered all of my questions patiently and succinctly. Overall this was a very pleasant experience.

We used the special deal to have our condo units hvac inspected. The individual was punctual, very professional and walked me through everything he was doing. Fortunately for us our unit was in good shape, but he did advise us on a way we could get slightly better air flow (unit in bedroom closet). Overall experience was pleasant and would definitely recommend these providers to others.

I asked Paul Mathews to give me a estimate on replacing our central A/C unit and gas furnace. He arranged an appointment time and came to our house to check things out, our units were close to 20 years old and I wanted them replaced before they 'broke' during a heat wave or frigid winter. During his visit he pointed out a few things about our duct system that I hadn't known, that in itself was useful for me. He asked what I was thinking in terms of replacements and listened carefully as I explained that I wanted more energy efficient units and simply to replace old equipment. He told me that my A/C was a 10 SEER and that he could replace it with a 12 SEER unit or for more efficiency he could use a 15 SEER unit that would cost a bit more. I went with the 15 SEER unit and he suggested TRANE units which was good; my units were already TRANE and they'd been very reliable. He said my furnace was 80% efficiency rated and that the'd have to do major duct work on the vents if I wanted a higher efficiency unit; I decided to stay with the 80% rating and just get a new unit, he never pressed for me to spend more money. After receiving the quote I told him I wanted to go ahead with the work. We arranged a day for the work and his men showed up at 9 a.m. There were two men and two trucks; they went right to work and barely took a break until 4:30 when they wrapped up. Paul came by around the same time to check their work; when they were satisfied I paid the bill and suggested that I wanted to get a service contract with them. Paul said I had a two year warranty with them and shouldn't waste my money until that time period was up; I rarely have someone advising me to NOT give them more money than necessary. Shortly thereafter they sent information concerning energy rebates I qualified for since I installed a more efficient A/C unit, they did all the paperwork. I found their workers to be very professional and efficient; their prices were more than fair and they seem to be refreshingly honest in their business arrangements. I will definitely use them again if I have the opportunity and I've already started recommending them to my friends.

They were professional and friendly throughout the entire service. They were competent and very efficient. I would use them again.

His office let me know of a minor delay in arrival time. Once here, he quickly and methodically worked out the problem and made recommendations. These resulted in no work being done, although he easily could have. Honest gentleman.

Working with AP Matthews was a positive experience. The technician was knowledgeable and explained the work that he was doing. He completed all work that was planned and didn't try to sell me on services/products that weren't needed, which is huge in my book. I'd definitely use them again.

AP MATHEWS is the BEST HVAC co. I have ever used. I have had an ongoing nightmare issue with a 1yr old unit installed by Sears, its never worked and kept triggering a fault that caused it to not heat. Other companies wanted me to pay a bunch of money to find the problem, then a bunch more to replace the unit. Not AP MATHEWS. The owner himself came out to inspect the problem; Paul is very knowledgeable and not at all pushy. Not only did he identify my problem (undersized intake) he also Identified improvements that could be made to my duct work to help performance and save space in the room. I found his prices to be very reasonable with out a bunch of cost cutting like flexible duck work (I received 4 different quotes for this work). He and his crew were professional, timely and accommodating. I could not be more impressed. Best of all; no more complaints from tenants!

I called and told them what another HVAC group had said. They came out and fixed it all for less than the phone quote. Overal would I would have saved over $200 had I not ever gone with the other HVAC folks to begin with. Fair, honest, on time, and professional. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

AP Mathews has been the best company to perform work at our house from Angie's list - no comparison - The owner comes out to review the work, listened to our concerns about the upstairs rooms being too cold in the winter/too hot in the summer, made suggestions other companies did not, the owner was involved from start to finish, explained why we couldn't purchase the 90 BTU air conditioners (the return to the outside of the house must be at least 4 feet from a window) - the other company we got an estimate from sent out a sales person who wouldn't be onsite during installation and just showed us the 80 BTU, didn't explain why and tried to sell us a $1,200 humidifier (my father is a chemist and looked at the pamphlet from the other company listing all the airborne fungus that the humidifier would kill in the air and laughed). Paul came up with the best solution to our problem (we didn't want to install another cooling zone), provided a list of all rebates we qualified for based on the models we chose, Gerry answered and additional questions we had via email and phone, the employees hand made the required duct work onsite, they did not leave one indication they were up in the attic cutting through dry wall to create the new returns in two bedrooms and tied that into the existing duct work. The work is very clean and professional. In fact they realized the day after the job was done one rebate was to come straight to us so we got a call that day and someone from the company was at our door step with the rebate check the same day. They are professional from start to finish and sell Trane, a quality product. We are very happy with the service provided and highly recommend the company.

The service worked out okay, but I thought the Deal covered a check-up and service call, but when he gave me the bill, he charged me for a service call. He took some of the cost off, but I wasn’t too satisfied with his explanation.

Paul Mathews provided written estimate promptly to install a new Trane propane furnace and suggested system improvements. Paul was willing to answer all questions and returned calls promptly. Technicians arrived at promised time, covered basement floor with tarps, installed all furnace ducts/ wiring/ piping neatly, and cleaned up trash and swept floor when finished. All work was performed as agreed and passed inspection by County. I would definitely recommend A.P. Mathews for HVAC maintenance or new installation.

These guys are great. Very professional and accommodating. We were told by an inspector that we'd need the whole unit replaced because the heat wasn't functioning; we thought we'd have to spend a few thousand dollars. We called these guys and it turned out to be a faulty piece that only cost $240 or so... So, yes, if you need a company you can trust, call these guys. A+

They were outstanding. They were very professional and the craftsmanship was excellent. They did the job and completed in the timeframe promised. They did a beautiful job and I would highly recommend them. They did additional duct work at no charge that I did not ask for. The crew that did the work was top-notch. Paul responded very promptly to every phone call of mine from getting the estimate to completing the work.

My oil furnace was 40 years old. Definitely, a new heating heating system was needed. Three estimates were received, the third one being this company which I called from Angie's List. I was impressed with the owner who came to the house to check out my house in order to develop his estimate. The price was good, and he allowed me to negotiate the price of the humidifyer. The day of installation, four polite men arrived and covered the steps to the basement with paper to keep the steps clean, as they moved back and forth. They were able to install all of this in one day, and at the end of the day, the owner, whom I'm sure was very tired at that point, took the time to review everything he did that day including teaching me how to program the programmable thermostat. I was very pleased, and have been telling my friends about this company.

From the first phone call and throughout the entire process, AP Matthews was stellar. We called on a Monday and the young lady that fielded the call was sympathetic and helpful (sorry I can't recall her name but she knows who she is!). She immediately put the Service Manager, Paul, on the line. He was highly knowledgeable and walked thru what would be needed to be done to assess and correct the problem. Matt the tech showed up promptly the next morning and got right to it. He performed a thorough diagnosis and discovered that a valve that regulates the pressure in the system was malfunctioning. He helped in getting our emergency system up and running ( the system has an oil fired furnace for when the heat pump won't cut it) and shut down the heat pump to ensure that no further damage to other expensive parts of the system would occur. He collected all the necessary information to go back to the manufacturer and try to have the failed part covered under warranty. He stated that they would do all they could to get the manufacturer to cover the part and would be back in touch but it would probably take a day or so, Within that time frame, Paul called back and informed us that he was successful in having Trane cover the part, the bad news was the system would have to totally drained of the Freon and then recharged. Having been a victim of corporate downsizing, I expressed my concern over the cost ($600+) and they offered to extend the payments for a few months to help lessen the impact. Suffice to say I was stunned and grateful that he had that kind of compassion without really knowing us at all. Matt came back today (Feb 15) with the part and the Freon, He told me he wanted to try something first before he took everything apart. And here's the really good part---Matt dug a little deeper and discovered that another regulator was sticking causing the valve to act as tho it had failed. He worked on that issue and was able to resolve the problem without performing the expensive repair. AND since we had already paid for an hour of service---THERE WAS NO CHARGE FOR THIS CALL!!! How often do you find honest hard working folks? Luckily with the help of Angies List. we found three! Thanks AP Matthews. you have gained a fan and loyal customer.

I had no heat in my home Sunday morning and I called and immeaditly got someone on the phone who was at my house an hour later. He fixed the electrical issue so we could get heat back up and running. They returned first thing Monday morning with a new fuse box to complete the job. Both technicians were friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I appreciated their fast response more than words can say!

I called the morning of Christmas Eve b/c our heater wasn't working and we had smelled gas. I was guaranteed an appointment that morning (I was a new customer, so I thought this was great) and Matt called me 30 mins before he arrived, so I didn't have to miss too much work. He was friendly, professional, thorough, explained the problem, and fixed it - all in about 30 mins. And he was great with my 2 (big, crazy) dogs. I highly recommend them and will definitely call them again for services. Awesome customer service.

This went very well, I would highly recommend them.

Showed up on time, quickly installed the two thermostats I provided, explained to me what he was doing while performing a general service and clean up of our two thermostats, everything was excellent and I won't hesitate to use them again in the Summer.

Called APM and they suggested that I try to restart the system on the off chance that the lockout time frame had past since the previous companies service attempt. I guess it had since the unit is functioning going on ten days now.

The service went wonderfully. Prompt, quick to resolve and reasonably priced.
