Zepp Plumbing & Heating

I think Zepp did the best they could with the equipment they had, but that was insufficient for this task. Zepp called Howard County (HC) utilities, before even coming out, to make sure the problem was not with them. HC came out, but could not find an exterior cleanout or where I connected to their system. Eddy Zepp came out and snaked (ran tape) through my system, but could not find the clog. I seem to recall him saying he could only go out 75 feet, but my receipt says "We ran tape 125 ft. to property line." (Interestingly, the company that did unclog the system said the clog was at 125 ft, and they believe that since the snake moved very easily after that point that 125 ft was the connection distance to the HC sewer line). Zepp tried to find, but could not, an exterior cleanout. Eddy listened to the ground for the snake as it was rotating, and thought he heard where where that part of the drain pipe laid (it was 10-25 feet from the HC sewer). HC came back the next day with drawings and a metal detector, but was still unable to locate my exterior cleanout. HC said Zepp shoud have been able to run a trace on the line (using special equipment) from inside. Zepp disputed the fact that tracing was a standard service (this was also disputed by another company that Zepp recommended for longer snaking). Zepp quoted $468, but took $100 off their bill since there was no improvement. They worked for about 3 hours. Pluses and minuses: + Personable and professional interactions. + Reasonably clean (the lower bathroom was not exactly pristine to begin with). + Attempted to work with HC to identify my sewer connectivity details. + Recommended alternate company. + Did not charge full quoted price. - Did not have adequate equipment for the task (their snake was not long enough, and they did not have functioning imaging equipment). - The quoted price ($468) was 45% more than the final price I paid ($322.40) for the alternate company that was able to complete the job. (It is possible that the work Zepp did might have enabled the next company to work more quickly by clearing intermediate partial clogs.) - Zepp's first recommendation, after being unable to clear the clog, was to bring in a backhoe and dig the line up (which would have cost around $2000); I had to specifically ask for a recommendation for another company to snake the line. o Responsiveness was rated a B, but only since they did not respond to my email query on a Sunday. I suspect they responded as soon as they got into work on Monday. Final thoughts: I would consider them for indoor plumbing issues, but probably not for the larger outdoor jobs. But if you have a property near the street, they may be fine.

Workers appeared a little unkempt. Good job installing cut-off valves, but the outside faucet extended out from the siding in such a way that I thought water might damage wood underneath, so I ended up caulking around it. Also, they did not replace siding as neatly as I would have liked.

I called early Monday morning and they came later that morning. They called to let me know someone was on the way. In addition to unblocking the drain, he educated me about my pipes and how to keep them from clogging and provided me a natural product to clear the buildup in the pipes.

Called Zepp on a Monday for the slow drain. They had a lot of calls already that week and scheduled me for Thursday; no problem since it was only draining slow, not clogged. However, by Wednesday it became a clogged drain and we called Zepp back to see if they could come out earlier than scheduled. They worked us into the Wednesday schedule and took care of the clog in short order. I appreciated their responsiveness and flexibility.

They were very quick with scheduling an estimate and setting up an appt to get the work done. The young lady on the phone was very polite and professional. the estimate was much less than a few other companies. The plumber was punctual on the day of the estimate. the day of the appt he was running behind due to an emergency. I did receive a call ahead of time letting me know this and when to expect him.

Came out early, pricey on a per hour basis, but worked quickly and professionally so the per task price is reasonable. Only complaint - after they left our kitchen sink had developed another leak and they stopped work at 3:30pm. We had to shut off the water and wait until the next AM for repair of that problem, but they did not charge us for the second visit at all.

Arrived late due to an extended time at the prior job. I understand this, but they didn't call until they were on the way to my house, about 2 hours late. My daughter was at home and actually handled the transaction. She reported that the technician was very nice, and he explained everything to her. Works great now, and I didn't need to replace the heater, which would have been a much more expensive prospect.

Everything went well, and I was pleased with their service. I did not compare prices so I could not judge that, but the cost of repairing the leak seemed reasonable for the amount of time they put into it. The price listed is the cost of replacing the faucets. They responded very quickly, and the same people came out each time--I was impressed with their professionalism. I was happy with their work overall, particularly in regards to the leak.

Six years ago I planned a total bathroom remodel (a different bathroom). I contacted 5 companies 3 recommended by various people. (Not Angie). Three of them promised to come out and give me an estimate and never showed. Two others came out, one even took measurements and pictures but I could not get an estimate from either of them. I ended up doing the work myself at a cost of $6,000 and six months worth of my efforts. I joined Angie's list, read the reports of plumbers in my area and chose Zepp. I left voice mail and the next day Mr. Zepp returned my call and came out that evening to do an inspection. We discussed several different possibilities, and two days later he called me back with estimates, and after I chose which one I wanted he gave me a quotation that was on the light side of what I had estimated for the work. We set up an appointment for the next week. His office called me the day before to confirm the time and he arrived within 5 minutes of his estimated arrival time. Mr. Zepp and his associate completed the work in about 6 hours in spite of having to replace a drain in order for it to line up with the new tub, and in order to do that had to cut an access panel in the laundry room. In spite of that his charge was exactly what he had quoted me. There is no question that I will use him for any future plumbing needs, and I have already recommended him to a friend.

Called to set up an appointment time. Called about 10 minutes before he came to confirm appointment. Replaced the leaky pipe.

It was a difficult job to fix. He promised to come back to repair it until it was fixed, but it took 3 visits that he did not charge for. He backed up his job.

Very professional, courteous and on time. If something other than what we specified needed fixing, he did it. He is coming back to make major adjustments in the kitchen (we're remodelling) as soon as counter has been installed by another company. Will send a follow-up report, but feel all will be well. Not only was his price fair, but we were given an additional discount because of Angie's List. Thank you.

They arrived on schedule and performed the work within one hour. They kept me informed on what they were doing. They removed the old equipment for a small fee, but they asked first in case I didn't want to pay the fee and remove the items myself.

Their prices were 25 percent higher, so we decided not to use them.

He came, and looked into it. It turned out to be a septic problem. He told us exactly what we needed to do, and explained the septic system to me. He was fabulous, and I was really pleased with his service. I would certainly recommend, and use him again in the future.

They arrived on time, assessed the job, and went to work quickly. They were able to adjust the hot water to the washer without an expensive repair. I was very pleased with their service.

Had to wait one week for visit, but on time and work was done quickly and well.

Zepp plumber came out to estimate the problem and begin work. After starting, he realized that the faucet valve had rusted inside the supply pipes. The plumber had to reschedule the install. On the day of the install I received an early courtesy phone call from the company saying the technician was running late and would be at my house shortly. He arrived as thought completed the new install. He even fixed a "running" toilet at no charge and left behind some extra toilet flanges; again at no charge. Jim was very professional, explained everything in laymen's terms and fixed the problem efficiently.

Mr. Zepp was VERY responsive and helpful. He was able to come out the day we called to provide an estimate. His price was much more competitive than the other quotes we obtained. Mr. Zepp and another workman, Jim, came out to do the work, and did an excellent job. They listened to and welcomed our input regarding how the project would be done. They were very polite, and seemed to sincerely want to do the project correctly as well as give the customer the best value for the investment. We were under a time crunch, and they finished very quickly. We couldn't be happier with the work that was done. We highly recommend this company.

Overall I am happy. The first impression of the plumber was not great. He seemed almost put off by the fact that he had to come to my house for such a trivial thing as draining the hot water heater. But he did the job and when he came up to explain the issue with the ejector pump, he was much more pleasant. He was very helpful and he didn't try to sell me anything we didn't need (Iike a new ejector pump). I have to add that my first appointment got canceled by the company (they called at the end of the arrival window to say they were running behind and would be late and I couldn't stick around for them) so we rescheduled. Then I had to cancel and reschedule again. They called a couple of days before the final appointment because the plumber finished a job early and could come by soon, but that didn't work for me. In the end I was happy with all my dealings with the office staff, but I wish they would have called sooner when they canceled the appointment.

I have a problem with mineral deposits and the filter works as a water softener and helps eliminate bacteria. They are very reliable. They arrange their schedule to suit me and always show up on time. They are reasonably priced, probably not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.

The Zepps have always been on time and very professional. They charge reasonable rates and have always come through for me.

PLEASANT. IT WAS A GO BACK ON A WARRANTY ITEM AND THEY ONLY CHARGED LABOR ON THE WARRANTY ITEM. I WAS HAPPY ABOUT HOW GOOD THEY WERE TAKING BACK AND REPLACING THE ITEM. THE PRICE WAS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE.
