When we purchased our home about a year ago, we were advised by our inspector to have a fireplace professional take a look at our gas fireplace because there was melted siding on the exterior of the shed enclosure . At the time we were busy and cheap, but a year of a nonfunctional, drafty fireplace convinced us to actually get our fireplace functional for this winter. We contacted Chris Hart to come take a look at the fireplace, which he was able to do. He arrived early (I think about ten minutes), cleaned everything out, took a look at the fireplace, got it functional (even cleaning up the tin foil a prior resident had shoved all over the place), and did all this in what seemed like very little time. As an added bonus, they were very patient and understanding about my four-year old watching (I kept him physically out of their way). They stayed long enough to make sure everything was running well and that the exterior of the chimney (where the previous damage was) wasn't getting hot. The fireplace gas workings themselves were fine, thankfully, and they couldn't see any reason for the melted siding, although they did have a few theories, which they shared. There were some key operational procedures that I seriously doubt some set of prior owners followed that I would not have known to follow if not for the service man. They gave me a referral to a chimney specialist they knew who could tell us definitively if there was something amiss in the chimney section of our fireplace. It was definitely a positive experience, and I would reccomend them.

I contacted Chris through an Angie's list special. The work was originally scheduled for 11/11/2014 however, Chris emailed me that he would be in my area on the 7th and asked if he could do the job then. He arrived early on the 7th, cleaned the fireplace and gas logs and adjusted the pilot light and gas flame. He did an excellent job and advised me on the proper maintenance and use of the gas logs.

No nonsense. Showed up and did the repair. Great job.

It took a couple of calls to get through to Mr. Hart but once I did, he immediately squeezed me into his already busy Saturday schedule. He called when he was on his way. He was very professional, explained what the issue was and what the cost would be. When he was finished, my fireplace looked better than I had ever seen it (I am the second owner of my home). The service was not inexpensive but it was definitely worth it. People have remarked how nice it looks.

Highly recommended. Mr. Hart is a knowledgeable, experienced technician who checked my unit from A to Z, gave it a thorough cleaning, and made some necessary adjustments that apparently had been ignored by other service people. He arrived with a large, industrial vacuum, several movers' blankets to cover the floor and hearth when cleaning the screen and components, and a complete digital set of specifications for setting the vent door and other critical components for safe and efficient combustion [no other service person had ever considered these details]. Mr. Hart was assisted by his son, who obviously has had significant experience also, and my fireplace now looks and runs like new [15 years old]. A word to the wise: Select your gas fireplace technician with the same care you would choose an HVAC contractor for your furnace and air conditioning system. There are many Jack-of-All-Trades, self-proclaimed fireplace techs out there who, from my experience, know little more than what you and I can glean from an owner's manual. They make a nice fee for doing only what you or I could do following the maintenance instructions from the latter, but they lack the depth of knowledge and experience to provide the service you think you're getting.

Mr. Hart laid down plastic before he even began work. As he worked, he educated me along the way! He tested all the components, put the logs in accurate order as they were out of place, cleaned underneath, around the unit and cleaned the front glass with a special formula. He was quick but thorough. Mr. Hart is friendly and obviously an expert. I would definitely hire him again and have referred friends and colleauges to him.

. He and his assistant were on time and provided quality work. Chris was able to run the gas line without any mess. We were pleased that no drywall needed to removed. They cleaned up the area and showed me how to run the remote for the fireplace.

I contacted Chris after reading the positive reviews on Angie's List and couldn't have been more pleased with his work. Chris was extremely responsive calling me first thing in the morning after my email to him sent just the night before. If I had been available he would have come out that day, but he came out the following day instead. He is obviously an expert in the area of working with gas. He quickly determined the best approach and he and his son went to work immediately. In addition to how quickly they completed the work, I was impressed with his attention to detail in a number of little ways. After they left I went down to the basement to re-secure the doors I had opened for them to find they had already secured the entrances to the crawl space just the way they had been and turned off the lights Before they pulled the (very heavy) oven off the wall he asked for a covering to protect the stove from any possible falling debris. Before he left he also went back to double check that the pilot light to the furnace had been re-lit (which it had). I would highly recommend Chris for any of the services he offers and will definitely call on him in the future when we want to install a gas fireplace.

Very pleased with the work that Chris did. He promptly provided us with an estimate and scheduled the work in a timely fashion. We plan to hire Chris in the future for a home remodeling project.

I called him yesterday and he came out today. He was very prompt. He was great. We are going to get some work done and he explained it to me and he gave us a price that sounded reasonable to me. I was impressed with him. My husband went on Angies List and saw reviews.

Initially Chris came by to provide an estimate but it took me following up to get the estimate, he did not seem as responsive in the beginning. I however got some additional estimates that were hundreds of dollars more expensive than Chris. I decided to have Chris install the gas line given his good reviews and prices. (Industry standards approx, $20-$30 per foot; Chris was not too far off that range.) Unfortunately on the scheduled day of installation he did not show up at the time agreed but did call later to advise me that he was sick but was still willing to come later if he felt better. We later agreed to reschedule and this time the work was completed. Very neat work and they cleaned up the work site, scheduled the gas inspection for early the next day and showed up after the inspection to remove the pressure gauge and attached my grill. Overall good job and I would certainly consider using Chris Hart?s Gas service again.

Make sure he has serviced the type of fireplace that needs service before making an appointment.

Chris was quick to respond and took care of our problem. He cleaned up our fireplace and was very tidy after the work was done. I would use him again!

The previous owners had a gas fireplace installed. We prefer the real thing. Chris asked for Some initial information before coming over. He offered two dates Saturday 29 December or Monday 31 December. He indicated that he would arrive between 8:00 am and 10:00 am on the selected day. We chose 31 December. He called at 9:00 saying that he was running a little late and that he would arrive closer to 11:00. He arrived at 10:30, assessed the fireplace and the furnace. He completed the job in 45 minutes and billed us on the spot. The price was reasonable.
