Description of Work: They refinished all the hardwood floors and painted the entire interior of the house. The floors were previously a dark color which made the entire house seem dark, the new floors are much lighter and contributed to a much more modern look for the house. We went with the Rubio Monocoat finish and it is amazing. This was alot of work for them and they did a great job.

Description of Work: They were great! Very professional and the floors turned out very nicely. They were able to give me a fair quote, insight (since I was unfamiliar with various aspects of flooring), and even sanded down the front wooden step for my condo.

Description of Work: We had about 1000 sq ft of hardware floors installed and finished on site as well as two stairwells of stair treads installed and finished. Rudy and his team was very knowledgable and professional. We had to change the install date a few times and Rudy was happy to accommodate the date changes. A few months after the install we noticed some cracks in between the boards and Rudy was very quick to respond to my call and came out to our home to check it out. Turns out, we waited until the spring and sure enough, the added humidity in the air caused the boards to swell back up! No work needed, cracks disappeared... the issue is we don't have radiant heat or a whole house humidifier

Description of Work: We had our kitchen, dining room, foyer, living room and family room hardwood floors refinished in July 2012. . Because of the large number of rooms and furniture, including a baby grand piano, we had to refinish the floors in two stages. The entire refinishing process took approximately 3 weeks. This was so that the floors in the first room completed were thoroughly dry before putting all of the remaining rooms' furniture in there while those rooms were completed. I was very impressed with Rudy, one of the owners, when he arrived promptly and reviewed our floors before providing an estimate. He suggested using Bona Commercial Traffic as the finish due to the high traffic our kitchen and foyer yet. This is a water-based finish and so the fumes aren't that bad. The fumes were actually only bad the day that they put the stain on. His crew was terrific, arrived timel, was careful with our furnishings and worked hard to ensure that there was minimal dust. They required us to hire a separate piano mover since ours is a baby grand and they didn't want to assume any liability for damage. The piano movers came in, took the legs off the piano, and turned the piano on its side and left it on a dolly for easy replacement two weeks later. Cost for that was $300. Rudy also pointed out areas where the floors could use some repair and we agreed. They did a beautiful job with these repairs. I couldn't tell you where they are now. The only area that I think they could improve on is in making sure that the color of the floors is what you want. We have hardwood floors on our second floor too, with a wooden staircase between the two. I asked that we try and match those floors. Although Rudy explained that a water-based finish floor would never match the oil-based finish on the other floors, I misunderstood the rather extreme difference. They worked with me on the color of the stain to try and match but once the first coat of finish dried I could see that the match was not really close. Rudy promptly came over to try and resolve the issue but in the end, I researched online and found that Bona makes a sealer product specifically designed to try and match the amber tones of an oil-based finish -Bona Amber Seal. I asked Rudy to give this a try; he contacted the company to see if it could be applied over the stain and sealer he had already put down but it could not. This meant sanding the first room's floors again and adding a second coat of sealer to the contract for all of the floors. I asked for the price to redo this one room and add the second sealer coat to all floors and determined that for me it was important enough to do. Rudy gave me a fair price and never complained about redoing. We were thrilled with the color at that point. The Bona Traffic is the top coat and so far we are really pleased with this finish. Cleans up easily with the Bona Floor products Rudy provided and explained the use of.

Description of Work: K&K Floors removed wall-to-wall carpeting from our entire upstairs; 4 bedrooms, closets, linen closets and hallway as well as a staircase. They then installed pre-finished hardwood along with all shoe moldings, etc. The staircase was a challenging job and required removing the banisters and spindles, then reinstalling them. The crew was courteous, hardworking and thorough. They accomplished the entire job in an incredible 3 days with some minor touch-u[s to follow. I was very happy that they were able to move furnishings from one side of a room to the other so that for the most part, I didn't have to do a lot of prepacking other than small items on shelves. One of the workers even offered to help me run books back upstairs after the job. The quality was excellent and we love the new floors. I was very pleased that one detail that bothered me; a discrepancy between two thicknesses of trim on the stairs, was addressed by the man carving a piece to ensure that the transition was seamless as viewed from the entry hall. I would definitely recommend K&K Floors and already have to my neighbors who came to check out the job.
