From start to finish what a great experience. Rudy was on time for our initial appointment. He explained completely his process for sanding, staining and finishing our floors. He described how they would use plastic and tape off our cabinets and entrances to rooms. There was very very little dust in the house afterwards. His crew led by his brother, Jimmy, were clean, courteous, friendly and respectful to myself and my husband. We decided to go much darker than the original color. Jimmy and Rudy put down different color stains from which to choose. When applying the stain Jimmy even used a tiny paint brush on the stairs so as not to get splashes on our newly painted wainscoting. Every question we had was answered promptly, texts were responded to almost immediatly and all answered with a friendly attitude. We can not recommend them highly enough. PS They were slightly ( a couple of hundred dollars) more expensive than the other two companies we had bid on the job. No stress, no headaches, and amazing customer service was well worth the little bit more we paid.

Rudi dedicated adequate time for him to inspect the floor, using techniques that flooring inspectors use to gauge various factors and conditions that can compromise a wood floor, and the industry standards that are advised for installation to avoid such problems. He explained this to me in understandable terms and took the time to advise me of the different methods that could be used in order to remedy the problem as well as provide his recommendation. What was evident throughout was hIs knowledge and experience, his attention to detail, and his commitment to providing quality service to his customers.

The hardwood floors in our 1920's bungalow were long overdue for some restoration. We'd put it off because he have young children and in a small house, we needed to have access to the bedrooms and bathroom at the day's end. Rudy heard our concerns and arranged the work to be done in a way that allowed us to be home in the evenings. Rudy's crew was timely and considerate and Rudy made himself always available by phone. The results? Absolutely beautiful floors with minimal odor and virtually no dust, making us very happy customers.

You can't even tell where the old floors end and the new floors begin - a fantastic match! Kustom was great to work with! Rudy was highly responsive, answering a multitude of questions and showing us examples of his work in his showroom. Rudy's brother, Jimmy headed up the work. Jimmy was great to work with and is a true craftsman. He and his crew were punctual and diligent, staying late most days and finishing on schedule. Jimmy did not use any thresholds and the result is pristine. We would hire them again.

The hand rails, newel posts and balusters look great. The team showed up on time, performed the work in a timely manner and completed the project according to schedule. I would highly recommend.

We hired Kustom Floors to refinish our flooring which was close to 1100 sqft. I got a reasonable pricing with water-based paint. Originally we talked with Rudy and he was the one who came until we signed the contract and then a team of his men started the work which took around 5 days. We had some issues with the work his team did and Rudy came back promptly and took care of all the issues and made sure we were happy with job. He is a perfectionist and he tries to keep that up. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, honest and dedicated contractor for your flooring needs then Kustom Floors is the right choice. We were getting other renovations done at the same time and asked Rudy if he could send some one later to finish the job and he said yes to it. We finally finished most of the projects around Feb 2016 and as promised he sent his person to take care of the work. I am glad we worked with Rudy and his team.

The flooring project turned out very good and I will probably have them remodel our two bathrooms and kitchen in the future. They run a very good operation and with this level of service and quality should co tinge to be very successful.

Overall it went really well. The finished product is fantastic! Rudy gave a very thorough description of the process, advised on selections, and was accommodating to our need for a fast turn around. They were prompt, showed up when they said they would, and were responsive to phone calls and texts along the way.

The old floors were so unsightly, moisture warped, and stained w/ old pet urine, I painted over them when I moved into the house. Rudy came for the estimate and initial examination, and provide advise; Jimmy and crew did the installation. The work required removing old oak floors, some from areas where new walls had been built or relocated due to remodelling. Very messy, and very labor intensive. 95% of the furniture had to be moved out of the house. They spent some time putting up plastic to protect furniture and unaffected areas since a lot of dust is generated by the job. Day by day, they kept the place clean as reasonably possible. On top of that, Snowmageddon hit DC about halfway thru the job, so we lost a couple days there. All in all, I think it took about 5 full days with a crew of 3. Jimmy and crew were excellent, easy to work with, professional, and detail-oriented. It looks like a new house inside, and that is not an exaggeration. I did not rate on "price" because I did not shop around or get other estimates; I got their estimate and went for it - for the complexity, amount of work it entailed, and overall quality of the finished product, it (still) seems reasonable to me. very happy w/ the results.

This is a long overdue recommendation for the EXCELLENT work performed by Kustom Floors. At the time of contracting, I was interested in hardwood flooring for two rooms, one hallway and a staircase that would be sanded and stained. I researched several flooring companies, by reading reviews, then decided to call Kustom Floors. Well, after Rudy came, looked at the project, gave recommendations, and provided an estimate, I decided to contract Kustom Floors. This was an excellent decision! About the floors? they look wonderful, the moulding around the walls and the work inside the closet Is flawless. So good is the job, at this time, I have contracted Kustom to do another job at another house. The project started and ended on time, the associates were timely and courteous, which is also important. when choosing a contractor for a job. Use Kustom Floors, for your flooring needs!! You will be satisfied!

I am pleased to provide this review for Kustom Floors, LLC, which hopefully conveys the very positive experience I had working with them. ?Kustom Floors, with brothers Rudy and Jimmy and their team, installed hardwood flooring throughout my entire one-bedroom apartment (except for kitchen, bath, and enclosed balconies) at a luxury hi-rise condominium in Arlington, Va.? Their work is absolutely stunning. When I walk in the front door, I am struck each time by the incredible beauty of my new floors.? Not only is the wood we selected beautiful, but the installation was done to perfection. I interviewed at least five firms that install hardwood.? It was very clear to me that Kustom Floors was the only firm that had the vision, the competence, and the professionalism to do the job to the highest level of customer satisfaction. From the beginning, Rudy pointed out issues that needed to be addressed in my unit.? For instance, he was the only floor installer that discussed how we should handle installing the wood in the foyer closet.? The sliding glass doors to the closet run on tracks, and removing the old track and installing the wood and then replacing with a new track over newly installed wood, he said, would yield a very different result than installing the wood on either side of the old track. No other floor company ever even raised that issue. Rudy?s recommendation was perfect. Yes, it involved extra work, but the result is a beautiful installation that is seamless in the front foyer.? The alternative would have yielded a messy, unsatisfactory but quicker result. Next, a big issue in my installation was how to handle the transition between the kitchen and the living room/dining room area. The kitchen floor had already been tiled when the kitchen was redone.? Every other wood installer, except Kustom Floors, planned on doing the transition between the kitchen and living room/dining room in the quick and easy way, which meant installing a wood piece over the tile onto the wood in the living room/dining room.? This approach would have left a bump at the transition. Not only would that method have created a safety hazard (someone could easily trip), but it would be visually unappealing. What Rudy recommended was removing and redoing a couple of the kitchen tiles so that metal edging could be installed to define the edge of the tiles (and the tiles could be made straighter to fit perfectly against the wood).? He would then ?raise the floor slightly on the other side of the tiles so that the floor would be perfectly even as it flows from the kitchen to the dining room.? Because of Rudy?s creativity and willingness not to leave things ?as is? just because it was already done, he came up with a great solution, and the transition between the kitchen and living room/dining room is absolutely perfect.? I emphasize he was the only floor contractor out of five different companies that came up with this idea. Not one other floor store recommended removing the tiles to make the transition perfect.? They all planned to leave it ?as is? and then ?do the best they could.?? That attitude would not have produced the beautiful result that Kustom Floors achieved. Given that hardwood floors are expensive and not easily changed, I much preferred to correct a problem now so I would be happy with the end result. In retrospect it sounds easy, but the point I am making is that nobody else cared enough to analyze the flooring job in such detail and to think out-of-the-box when crafting a solution.? These are just two examples of instances where Rudy had ideas that no other floor contractor thought about but that produced exceptional results in the installation of my floors.? When it comes to renovation, the details do matter.? Kustom floors cares about the details.? Of course, planning is very important (which we did a lot of), but the care taken in doing the actual installation is equally important.? Jimmy (Rudy?s brother) and his crew put heart and soul into installing my hardwood in order to achieve the most beautiful result possible. The results of their effort is nothing less than stunning. The finishing at every corner and between every room is beautiful. They take great care in doing each detail of the job for which there is no substitute. You can throw down a floor to ?get out? and get to the next job or be patient and do the work meticulously. Kustom Floors is patient, and the care they take shows in the final work product. In addition, my project was unusual in terms of its complexity and the required attention to detail. ?I ordered very high quality wood from Mirage, but because of the color, we needed to order a lot of extra wood and then select the pieces by hand to install in order to achieve a consistent look. Jimmy and his team spent a lot of time reviewing each piece of wood in order to select the ones they would use.? Then, my designer and I approved the layout and gave suggestions where we had them. Rudy, Jimmy and their team worked well with both my designer and me.? No egos, just one team with a common goal. This last point is critical. Rudy, Jimmy, and their team were very respectful of my designer. Most of the floor stores I talked to just wanted to ?get the job done as fast as possible? and were not interested in having the many meetings we ultimately had. Rudy and Jimmy?s openness to my designer made all the difference.? They are experts in their field, but they listen to other viewpoints.? To me, that is a key quality for any contractor. ?If a contractor does not have great listening skills and the ability to work with other professionals, you cannot expect the highest quality job.? I had a general contractor at the beginning of my renovation who I had to fire, in part, because he was very insecure and was unwilling to work with my designer and to take feedback.? As a result, I lost a lot of time and money, and he made many mistakes. I had experienced that type of contractor, which is why I so appreciate Rudy?s and Jimmy?s receptivity to our input. Their approach is collaborative, and that makes all the difference in terms of both the actual results and how I felt during the construction process. In conclusion, if you are looking for a floor company that truly cares about their craft, will look at your space, and comes up with workable solutions to inevitable problems that arise, will willingly work with your designer, and then will execute the plan with the requisite care, I strongly recommend Kustom Floors.? For all of the reasons I have discussed, Rudy, Jimmy, and their crew have earned my highest recommendation, as well as my respect and gratitude.? I truly hope you consider them for any and all flooring needs.

Great! Rudy was able to get to us on short notice and completed the work in between Christmas and New Year. He matched the price estimate from another company that could not complete the job during the time frame that we needed it done. The repairs look flawless and floors look great in general. He gave good advice on stain colors and sheen (we chose Early American stain and a satin sheen). I don't believe he charged extra for finishing the stair hand rails and that was an extra bonus on top of the excellent work they did in general. He was responsive and communicated well. Everything was done on time and we are very pleased with the results.

We have done many projects on this house in the last ten years, this was the best experience. Kustom floors is a family business, and they are skilled craftsmen, which is remarkable, since Washington DC has very few truly skilled tradespeople willing to work on smaller single family projects. However, we do suggest agreeing on a price ahead of time for all extras.

Everything went very smoothly. Rudy, Edgar, and their team did a great job. Everything was done when scheduled, professionally, and they cleaned up at the end of each day. This is one of the most impacting changes that we've made to our little fixer upper - it looks great.

Rudy, an Owner with many years experience, was extremely responsive in scheduling and meeting to review the specific project issues. He provide excellent product and technical advice which convinced me to change the finish product which I'd have previously used. Many Contractors do not communicate well; Rudy was exceptional. The Crew reported on time, did an excellent job of providing protection to all adjacent surfaces and spaces. The work was complete early and we are very happy with the results. My only regret was not discovering Kustom Floors and Rudy earlier in life. I have other rooms to refinish and will bring Rudy and Kustom Floors back for those. I highly recommend this company.

We are very pleased with the work. The job was somewhat complicated because they had to cut around cabinets in the kitchen, then install the tile around them. Because we have an open floor plan and kept the wood flooring in the areas immediately abutting the kitchen, they also had to cut the wood flooring straight and install a threshold between the kitchen and the rest of that part of the house. They did this all very well. The wood was cut very straight, and the tile was cut and installed very cleanly. They also installed new shoe molding at the bottom of the cabinets, and did a good job matching it to the color of the cabinets. Everything was done on schedule, even slightly ahead of schedule.

Working with Rudy and his team was a great experience. I contacted Kustom Floors, and Rudy came over shortly thereafter to review the work needed. He listened carefully to our needs and offered suggestions to our initial, relatively vague plans. He then put together a crew and did the installation and refinishing in a timely manner. But, I think the exceptional thing about Rudy and Kustom Floors is that they are absolutely committed to customer satisfaction. When the job was finished, Rudy walked through the house and his team's work carefully, listening to our concerns about color, quality, coverage, etc.. He had several suggestions on how to fix some outstanding issues. Indeed, in order to get the job right, Rudy proposed doing a lot more work than I thought was needed. But, Rudy was right, and when the team finished up the place looked fantastic. Would definitely work with Rudy on future flooring projects.

Rudy from Kustom Floors did the first estimate. He was punctual, professional, and spent a great deal of time assessing the work that needed to be done. He sent me several estimates within 24 hours. The insurance only covered work for the least expensive job, so I went with a different provider. That would be the main critique I have...the estimates were for work well beyond the actual repair I needed. Two other concerns I had were that 1) the estimates did not include the floorboards, which I did not have, and 2) they were not insured for disconnecting my refrigerator during the repair, which would have entailed additional costs for a plumber. I still felt they were a highly professional company and I would consider them for future work, if the price was right.

Rudy and his team did an excellent job refinishing our first floor hardwood floors (20 years old) and refurbished our wood banisters which look better than brand new. We weren't sure if we wanted to have the floors refinished or just have new floors installed. We received quotes from other highly rated providers who would have replaced the floors and the price was double the cost of refinishing the floors. Rudy's advice to refinish the floors was appreciated because the refinished floors are gorgeous. Rudy and his team are professional and courteous. They arrived on time each day and worked the entire day going through the very extensive process of sanding, staining and applying the final coat to the floors. They were meticulous with refurbishing our banisters which were an old honey oak color and turned them into beautiful stylish banisters. The reason we selected Kustom Floors is because they provided a fair price for the service and went above and beyond what was requested by showing how the banisters could be refurbished to give our first floor a whole new beautifully decorated look I would highly recommend Kustom Floors.
