I used this company 7 years ago to replace my roof. I was very impressed with their service, professionalism, price, and willingness to go above and beyond "normal" expectations. I recently had a leak in my roof from a branch falling and causing a small hole. First, the company was at my home the very next morning. Next, they found the hole to be so small and only require replacement of a shingle. They confirmed there was no further damage. I was told I would not even be charged for the work and instead they would leave their sign on my lawn for a week since it was such a small fix. I was again very impressed that the company fixed the problem and did not even charge me for the work (would have been $175). I will definitely use this company for roofing and/or remodeling in the future and highly recommend them to anyone in need of such services.

Is there a such thing as an A++ Company? If so Robert Pence Remodeling would be it. Robert is a pleasure to work with. He is extremely responsive and was very hands on during the whole project. My wife and I have been looking for a while to get our siding done. After doing two years (Yes, 2 years) of research and getting estimates from many companies, we were fortunate enough to run across Robert Pence Remodeling on Angie's list. Based on the favorable reviews we decided to meet with him for an estimate. First off, I like the fact that my wife and I did not need to be present at the same time for his visit. This has been a huge sticking point in the past with other companies since we both have very erratic and differing schedules. Another thing that truly impressed me was that fact that after doing an inspection of the house , Robert found that the roof was in need of great repair and suggested we do that project first. We knew the roof would be our next project but did not know how critical it was. Even though Robert was aware that we were on a limited Home Improvement budget and that the roof was a lesser job, he was willing to potentially sacrifice the larger siding job for our benefit. This type of honesty and integrity is hard to find in this industry. The price came in well within the range of our budget and was so reasonable, we were able to get the roof done as well as the siding. My two next door neighbors, each of whom have worked in the home improvement field, were impressed by the workmanship and professionalism shown but the installation crew. There was minor damage to a section of ceiling in my daughter's room from the roof work, but even with this, Robert sent over a worker who fix the ceiling the next day. Truly impressive. I highly recommend Robert Pence Remodeling to others, to the point that any future potential clients can contact me for a past performance statement and stop by to see his work. I will definitely be using this company on future projects.

Robert Pence was a pleasure to work with. He was pleasant, punctual, clearly explained the options for replacement of the shingled house roof, and his estimate was very good compared to others I obtained. His crew arrived on time and completed removal of the old roof in one day and replacement in one day, as Robert predicted. I ran into one small issue with gutter guards, which they were throwing away instead of replacing, but Robert offered to install new ones at no charge if I purchased them, which was done. After the job was completed I was not happy with they way the guards were installed and when I called Robert, two of the crew returned that same day to correct the issue. The yard is full of ornamental shrubs and we chose to have the roof replaced during winter to minimize impact on the plantings. This was a great concern because of the need to place ladders close to the house. The workers respected this and were careful to avoid any damage. Roof replacement is a large, messy task, and I have rarely had a better experience with any major work. The roof looks great and I would definitely choose Robert Pence again.

Agreed on price and scope of job. Pence committed to start date and arrived early with 5 man subcontract crew. Job finished by late afternoon of first day. Cleanup was mostly good. Pence followed up in two days and ran pickup magnet for stray nails, etc.Experience was mostly pleasant. No long term problems experienced

The owner Robert Pence gave us an estimate which was in the range of other estimates. As Robert was highly rated on Angie's List and a personal friend who had used his roofing service on a couple of houses, also highly recommended him, we contracted for the work to be done. Robert gave us excellent advice on changing the color of the roof to contrast with our white siding. (Previously we had just replaced the roof with the best match to the existing roof.) The present result is aesthetically much more pleasing and refreshes the look of the house, which is almost 40 years old. Just a few days after the contract, a large team came out and was able to replace the roof in just one day. Robert inspected all of the work and again explained the warrantee. I was pleased with Robert's ability to explain the details of the work that needed to be done and that he was able to get the work completed so quickly. Robert has a pleasant manner and is very easy to work with. Over the years I have seen the Robert Pence sign in many front yards in my neighborhood and in the general area. Now I know why. Mr. Pence was timely, responsive, professional and reasonable. During the visit to give me a quote, he explained to me what type of roof I had and what he would do, showed me pictures of what he was going to do. I've only had the roof one day so I can't comment on any deficiencies. However, he came back the next morning to hook up the vent on the inside of the attic at the time he stated and explained to me what he did, where his materials were purchased and provided a website that I could register roof with. Based on my experience with him, I would definitely recommend him.

Mr. Pence came to our house the day after we called, and provided a written estimate on the following day. He revised the bid after discussion, adding the gutters and upgrading the ice and snow shield. We had contacted several companies for bids; when we had all the bids we selected Mr. Pence's. We scheduled the work for the following week. Mr. Pence's team completed the work in one day with minimal intrusions, and they cleaned up after themselves. We were very satisfied with the new roof, particularly when it was stress-tested by a hurricane the following week.

An year ago I had phoned Robert Pence and he had suggested that I could call a handy man to seal the little leaks and save some money. I had truly appreciated Robert's honesty and work ethics and had written a review. Robert Pence is honest and clean. He is a man of few words. He did not try to sell me a new roof. I asked him to replace and he did it to my total satisfaction. I would recommend Robert Pence without any hesitation.

Robert Pence Remodeling, Inc. removed two layers of deteriorating roofing from my home, replaced rotting plywood on roof, and now I have a beautiful new light gray roof. They were very professional, and finished in one day, leaving no mess behind. Mr. Pence is easy to talk to and he listens to what the customer is saying. I called Mr. Pence for an estimate he came over and emailed the estimate to me and started the job three days later. He completed it the same day. Some of the other companies on Angies list never responded or never showed up. Mr Pence was prompt and did a good job.

Met with Robert for an estimate the day after my initial phone call. I called him the Monday following his estimate to accept the contract and schedule the job and see when the work could begin. Robert indicated that they could do the job that week and we scheduled the job for Thursday (April 5, 2012). The crew arrived on-time and the job was completed the same day. The crew did a great job of installing the new roof and removing and cleaning up debris from the old roof. We were extremely satisfied with the work that was done.

Overall, the experiences positive. The contractor is very responsive to requests for corrections. No pressure to up-sale. The price is fair. The advice is solid.

While this provider certainly gets an "A" for responsiveness, the other grades are solid "C" because of the way it turned out. Robert Pence was quick to assess the house and I expected an estimate next but all I got back was a terse email saying, "Sorry we cannot get to your project." I wrote back expressing my surprise and get back another quick, albeit terse response saying, "It is too small for us at this time as we have been overwhelmed with calls from the storm- sorry we could not help you." On the one hand, I was disappointed that I didn't get a chance in getting an estimate even if they couldn't schedule me until September. On the other hand, I did appreciate the quick replies despite the fact that they simply turned down my business. As it turns out, all roofers have been crazy-busy due to the storms that hit the DC area over 7/4 so we're having another roofer do the work in mid-September.

Having decided to have this work done, I went about getting estimates. I had had work done by another company recently to replace windows and doors. I got their estimate and checked Angies list for 2 more estimates. I called 2 who showed having done similar work locally. Robert of Robert Pence Remodeling Inc. called me back very quickly after I left a message. He said that he was in the area and would come by that day and look the house over for an estimate. He left me a written proposal that afternoon and we followed up with 2 phone calls and a meeting to sign papers and pick colors. I didn't rate RPR as an A in price only because there was a lower priced proposal. I felt the lower price was too low and wondered what was going to be missing. I was amazed at how responsive Robert was. Within days my house was transformed. It looks great now. I can't express how happy I am with the whole experience. I know I will be calling on Robert for the next project.

The price was very fair considering the damage to my roof; the work was started and completed in one day, and the crew and Mr. Pence made sure the yard was cleaned of any debris. I would highly recommend him and his services.

We needed a new roof installed. I had received several estimates and Mr. Pence was the best and he was the most comprehensive in scope. He went over the different options of shingles that were available and recommended a great set that would compliment our home and last for a very long time . He was exceptionally responsive to our request and was able to schedule our work even during the hectic aftermath after the storms and insurance calls he was currently swamped with.We also needed to use his financing program and again, he was very responsive and receptive to that request. We signed the contract and his crew was out in 2 days to do the work. He also kept me aware of the need for replacing rotted plywood and decking and let me know throughout the day how many sheets would be needed and the added costs that would entail. This speaks to his committment to communication with us and his great customer service. The roof was replaced in one day and it looks great.

I called several companies for a bid; Mr. Pence responded first and came to the house the next morning. Based upon the Angie's list reviews and the bid, I chose his company for the roof. He brought sample shingles so I could see what the roof would look like and he was able to schedule the work within the week. Everyone arrived in the morning at about 7 pm and worked steadily until about 7 pm. Very professional attitude and attention to detail. At the end of the day, the old roof was gone (and no debris anywhere) and the new roof was on and looks great. The whole project was a breeze.

Let me first just start off by saying that Bob was great to work with. I must have changed the contract 8 times over 4 weeks before we finally got everything figured out and I signed the paper work. I really don't have too much to say after that because the entire process went very smoothly! All the workers showed up on time and did the work in the scheduled amount of time. The work looks great, it's like a new house. It has held up to the vicious storms so far! I feel a lot better knowing that my house is better protected from the elements, I have better air-flow in my attic, the entire house more comfortable, and I'm saving money on energy bills! My favorite part of the work is that all the materials used were really top-notch. The windows were beautiful Simonton triple pane windows and patio door, the siding was high quality and even the invisi-vent soffits were great. I felt like I really got my money's worth on the materials. They also wrapped the entire house with foam-board and Tyvek... which that alone is a major step up from what was there on this modest townhouse. Between my siding, foam-board and new windows, my energy bill has really come down this summer which is especially great with this hot summer! Thanks Bob!David

Mr. Pence's price was well below the other bidder. He helped us select the shingles. He brought by several, full-sized shingles so we could compare colors. He called repeatedly to let us know when the shingles would be delivered, when the work would start and stop, etc. They did what seems to a layman to be an excellent job. They spent a lot of time cleaning up and did a meticulous job. Our experience proved the value of Angie's List. Mr.Pence seemed to have in mind all of the rating criteria and to strive to ace them. Well done.

His team came out and they took off the chimney, repaired around it where it was leaking and redid that one area of the roof which was probably a 9 by 12 inches. They actually came when they said they were going to come to look at it at first, which the other companies did not do. The owner came and he was obviously very knowledgeable about it and he seemed quite confident about how to fix this leak because; I had this leak for over 20 years and have had different things done and they have never worked before, but he was very confident and he said that he would stand behind it and I have not had a drop of water since. I would use him again in the future if needed.

It went very well. The estimate was given one week and the new roof was put on the following week. Everything went according to schedule. Robert made the whole process go very smoothly.

I emailed Robert and a few days later an estimate showed up in the mail. I asked Robert a few questions and the response I got made me a little nervous since it seemed he did not walk the property and measure things. I thought he is a professional and he knows what he is doing by the reviews so I went with him. i sent in the deposit and we scheduled a time for the project to begin.. The Subs showed up and they were afraid they did not have the materials needed since in fact Robert did not walk the property and measure things. The Subs did a great job and they had to come back a few times to address one of the gutters really making noise during windy times. Robert did have them come out and fix the problem but each time I had to hear a round of I should be happy and he did not make money on the project. It is not my fault he did not do his job and I really was a little bothered by the comments. To his credit, he did take of everything and it was a great installation.

We have used them in the past for other things. I have been pleased with them. The prices are high but the quality is worth it.
