I was really impressed with them. They came the day after I called them. They inspected the washer/dryer and told me that it was cheaper to buy a new one than to get the old one fixed, but I wanted it fixed. I was impressed with what they said because they could have made quite a lot of money off me and I wouldn't have known the difference. They seemed to be trustworthy and because of that I would definitely call them if necessary. They didnt do any work, just did an inspection. They were punctual and very professional.

Weinstein was professional and knowledgeable. He not only fixed out problem quickly. But also gave us advise on refrigerator maintenance. He immediately diagnosed the problem: severed water tube to the ice-maker. Then fixed the water tub by cutting out the damaged parts, and shorted the tube to prevent the problem from happening again. He and his workman were careful in pulling out and putting back the refrigerator as to not scratch the floor, wall and cabinets.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator/freezer was leaking water -- lots of water -- had to shot off water in the house. We called 5 companies. Three companies could not come out within 3 days, despite this was a major emergency, and one company we did not hear back from. But Weinstein was great and agreed to come within 4 hours. He fixed the problem which was a severed water tube leading to the ice-maker. In addition he adjusted the door which was a bit crooked, and cleaned the filter.

We called Mr. Weinstein in the morning to arrange a time from someone to come out and he was very abrupt, taking the bare minimum of information before hanging up (name, address, and description of the problem). That wasn't particularly the greatest experience but not really unusual or upsetting. The problem really began when he called back later that afternoon. First, he complained that he had been unable to reach us despite the fact that we were at work and he had left no messages. He then said he had been able to fit us into his schedule for today which would have been fine except we had specifically asked to schedule a time early the next week. He claimed he thought this was an "emergency" and had assumed we had immediately left work after calling him and were at home waiting for him to call. We had never said we had an emergency and in fact had asked to schedule a time the next week for him to come, we had also never given the impression that we were leaving work to wait for him and he made no attempt to find out. After this was clarified, he didn't then let us set up an appoint and instead simply told us to call back another day. In the future, I would hope Mr. Weinstein be sure to listen to the customer's needs before jumping to conclusions and assume that we are sitting around counting the hours until he calls back and then refuse to schedule a convenient time at a later date for all parties. Secondly, but perhaps even more importantly, I'm sure Mr. Weinstein is busy but there is no excuse for rude and unprofessional behavior on the phone with customers.

I called Weinstein about 4 weeks ago regarding frost building up in the freezer near the ice/water chute. Weinstein indicated a different tech would call me about the repair. The next day, the call came in and the tech listened to the description and said he wanted to order the parts. 3 weeks went by and I called to check the progress. The parts came in and the tech came when he said he would. After looking at the refrigerator/freezer and making a few phone calls, he told me that there is no way to remove the cover to the ice and water unit without breaking it. He also said that engineers build things that can't be fixed. He asked if it were okay for him to break the panel in order to remove it. Of course I would pay for all of the parts necessary. I told him that I did not believe that refrigerator parts could not be replaced, clearly Kitchen Aid makes appliances that can be repaired. He said I could call a factory representative service firm and they would tell me the same thing and charge me more. So, I called and scheduled an appointment for next week. (We'll see if they think you have to break it before you fix it). I have used this company in the past and Weinstein (the owner) really knows what he is doing. Perhaps it is just the people he hired that is the issue.

This guy beats everyone hands down in terms of FAST service! My refrigerator stopped working shortly after I moved in and Mark was able to come over and fix it before the ice cubes melted! Wow! You'll see why his response is so fast when he comes over-he simultaneously works on the fridge and answers calls on his headset/phone! I think he took 3 calls in the 30 min. it took to get my fridge working again-but it's still working! He's obviously a master of multi-tasking!

It went well. He responded to my in about an hour, although another day would have worked better for me. My house is in a outside part of DC which makes it not as convenient, and he said he doesn't like to schedule appointments on Mondays due to the emergencies he normally gets on Mondays. He was appreciative that I agreed to do it the same day, and it was good for me to get it done. He could have just charged me to install the part so I felt he was being honest by telling me I should replace the unit - he does not sell or do installations, do I didn't feel he was trying to get money out of me! The only thing is that it is a little frustrating to have to spend the money to not have anything done. That is the same from any company though, so not on him. In fact, his charge was less than another company for the service call.
Description of Work: Came to my house in order to diagnose the problem with my dishwasher. He determined that the motor was dead. Instead of fixing or installing the motor I had bought, he suggested that I replace the entire unit, due to the price it would cost to replace the motor and the poor overall quality of the machine (which had been installed by the seller prior to my buying the house several years ago).

The freezer in our side-by-side wasn't working, and we were leaving for a week's vacation the next day. Mr. Weinstein was able to squeeze us in first thing in the morning the following day. He took one look inside and saw what the immediate problem was: frost buildup. He and his assistant defrosted the freezer and ran a diagnostic test to see where the problem was. The test came back inconclusive, so he said to give it a week after we got back and see if the problem happened again. It did. I called again and he came again the next day. He, again, got inconclusive results, but defrosted it again and tried resetting the circuit. I was pretty frustrated about this, as it seemed like nothing was accomplished by this visit. A week later, it was down again. He decided it must be the defrosting sensor, ordered the part, and was back in 2 days to install it. That was 2 and a half weeks ago, and it is running very well now.

The repair person, Allan, called first and asked me to describe the work I thought was needed. He took the information and said that he wanted to verify that the parts were in stock before he visited my residence. He explained that by checking before hand, he could avoid a trip to my residence and the associated charge. After he ordered and received the necessary parts, he scheduled a service visit. He arrived on time, worked quickly and tested the dryer switch before he finished. He was very professional and neat.

I called the company in hopes of getting on the repair list for Monday. Even though it was 5 p.m. on a Saturday, Mr. Weinstein answered the phone and seemed genuinely interested in my problem. I had moved the temperature dials to the coldest setting in hopes that would help. He advised to move them back to normal and that he'd call back Monday morning. He did, around 7:30 a.m. Luckily for me, the refrigerator had begun working again. I also vacuumed the coils under the fridge, so that may have done the trick. I had also left a message for another very highly appliance repair company and they NEVER returned my phone call.

I suppose all's well that ends well, but my first call was not returned within 24 hours and I had talked to a live person not a machine. My second call was returned promptly but with a little grousing about who dropped the ball the first time. An appointment was made (two days after original call), Tech arrived on time, check of ice maker concluded a replacement was required, a reasonable price was quoted and installation was completed in due course. Except, the replacement didn't work. Waited 24 hours to see if it would start making ice, called technician directly and was asked to call back in 5 minutes (why he couldn't call me, I don't know. I'm only a customer). Tech asked for time to pick up new replacement and promised he would call to schedule new appointment. Yes he did call, but 9:30 pm was a surprise. I thought he had blown me off. New appointment (OK), new ice maker (OK), an installation mistake took more time to correct, more grousing about losing money on this job. Ice Maker works. No extra charges. Price OK. A working person might have resented the lost time. Alls well that ends well.

It was very easy to get a hold of someone in person and schedule an appointment for the next day. I wasn't able to be home at the time I had expected so I left a key and Mr. Weistein came while I was away. He diagnosed the problem, called me to discuss what he found and what he was going to do, and then performed the repair. He left me the bill.

I contacted Weinstein Inc. after the original service provider abruptly canceled (on the same day service was scheduled) the dryer repair appointment I had made a week earlier. I found Mark's name on Angie's List. I called him and he was at the house to fix the dryer within 2 hrs!!!! That's unheard of customer service responsiveness by anyone's standards. The job (a blown heat fuse) was repaired w/in 30 minutes. The cost of repair $128. I was advised to get routine vent cleaning to prevent another overheat. Mark was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and professional. Overall, an extra-ordinary experience. Thanks for the referral. It saved me time, and aggravation. PS. I had to renew my subscription to the List to get his name. Well worth the money spent.

We discovered the problem on Friday evening, when someone went to get ice cream and found only liquid soup. I called Mr. Weinstein Saturday morning; he arrived within 2 hours. He explained he did not do warranty work on Sears appliances, but that he would check out the fridge and try to figure out what was wrong. He thought it might be a start-up relay switch problem, and tried two universal switches he had with him (both have worked in the past with other Kenmore refrigerators). Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem. However, he gave me great advice on how to handle the request for service from Sears. He was honest, responsive, and seemed truly upset that he couldn't fix the problem.

The defrost would not quit running and I had to call them on a Saturday. He came out and replaced it and let me know that we needed a new water filter in the ice maker also. He came back the next weekend and changed the filter and checked on the defrost switch also. He is very thorough and I don't think he tries to overcharge.

Our 10+ year-old dishwasher wouldn't turn on and because A Weinstein, Inc. had done work before for us, they were the first company I called. As usual, they were very responsive over the phone and Terry came out to fix it within 24 hours. It works just fine and I'm happy I didn't have to buy a new dishwasher. I will definitely use them again.
