Evergreen Fence & Deck

I cannot recommend this company HIGH ENOUGH!! The entire crew, the owner, his brother, and Steve Hash were fabulous. This was quite a job (recondition a large screened in porch, including replacing screens, replace and install a new fence on a 1/2 acre lot, create new stairs, recondition two level deck) with three different professionals doing or overseeing all the work. The work crews for the fence (owner and workers) and porch and deck (Steve, Marlene and Francesco, and Michael the carpenter)) and the carpenter who created and installed the stairs (Dillion) were professional, knowledgeable, courteous and some of the hardest working people I have ever worked with and I have worked with a lot including as a government construction contracting specialist! Hire Them!

The crew was professional and friendly, seemed very knowledgable and worked diligently to get my deck done on a very tight timeline. All my questions were answered promptly. The deck looks fantastic and well built. The inspector even commented on how solid and well constructed it is. I love it. I think I probably paid a bit more than if I had gotten other timely bids, but the other contractors I contacted had a 3-4 month wait before they could do the work. Evergreen was able to get it done within two weeks and it was ready for a big family party.

Great experience. The installers were very skilled and very patient any time I asked them to explain part of the process.

Evergreen did the best job possible! They built a new fence with beautiful gates and our yard is secure and the fence looks great. They finished on time as promised and cleaned up beautifully. I will not hesitate to use them again.

Last week, this company completed a deck contract for my property in Silver Spring. I am a retired Registered Landscape Architect, licensed in Maryland. My wife is similarly licensed, and we are both very familiar with deck construction design and details. Prior to inviting competitive bids, I interviewed two property owners in my subdivision, (Three Meadows) who had recently employed Evergreen to build decks. I also inspected the completed construction. Both owners affirmed that would have no hesitation in hiring the company again. When we interviewed the competing firms, it was patently obvious that the Evergreen principal, Mark Dillon, was streets ahead of the opposition in experience, knowledge, professionalism, and familiarity with the Montgomery County Code. Mr. Dillon suggested thoughtful amendments to our proposed design, all of which we accepted. We were inordinately impressed with his crew, Mike and Dan, who were punctual, personable, efficient and meticulous. Since I was at home, I had the opportunity to observe them with professional interest. They worked steadily, measuring twice and cutting once, and carefully avoided damage to the bark and rooting systems of several adjacent mature hardwood trees. The work site was maintained in a clean and tidy condition, all finishes and details were executed to perfection, and the mandated County Inspector visits were arranged to avoid any delay in construction. The deck was completed on time and we could not be more delighted with the final elegant outcome. If I tried my hardest, I could not find a single negative comment to write about Evergreen Fence and Deck.

Mark, Tim and all of their employees were fantastic. They all went out of their way to do a great job and ensure I was happy with their work. Tim went to the paver store with me to help me pick out patio pavers and did multiple drawings with different cost options (my yard has a slope, and I was on a budget so he helped me figure out something I love that was within my budget). Mark and his team were incredibly flexible with my complicated schedule and did extra work to be sure the landing and stairs were exactly as I wanted them. I cannot recommend these guys enough!

We got a patio and deck stairs installed by Evergreen recently. The deck stairs are quite sturdy and were done in a day! The patio is absolutely beautiful and was finished in about a day in a half. Although the work was quick, the team worked meticulously the entire time. We loved that they even took care of the mud that was churned around a bit by all the construction. They spread grass seeds and hay to help our yard get right back into shape. I highly recommend Evergreen! The prices were much more affordable than others as well.

Tim was a great! He came out to our house soon after I called. He provided several material brochures and took measurements. He also helped with design ideas. I sought out three different companies and Evergreen was the best price. Tim met us at the stone/paver vendor and we picked out a nice product with his assistance. Prior to the installation, the paver, crushed rock, and dumpster delivery was very well organized. The installation crew were very polite, punctual and talented. They were able to deliver the product, install and clean up over a weekend. Tim also worked with our own electrician to determine where to place the "bump up" for the hot tub wiring. Everything went smoothly and we are very pleased!

Evergreen was superb. Tim visited our house many times to discuss options and prices and even offered to meet us at the stone shop to see the real material since he said sometimes pictures can be different. He was so knowledgeable. Mark, the owner, was also awesome, working with me to get the absolute best outcome. We get lots of compliments, everyone is so nice, highly recommened. Also, the guys who installed the stone were very nice, kept things very clean and neat and did a terrific job.

Very well. The original plan needed changes after the old deck was disassembled. I agreed with their proposed changes and the new deck turned out beautiful. I am very satisfied with the work.

They showed up on time each of 2 days to complete, the work looked great, and they cleaned up everything as they finished.

Evergreen completed the job as requested, finishing the job on time and very professionally. The team that installed the fence were quiet and neat, and the fence is beautiful. We are delighted and glad we used Evergreen and can highly recommend this company.

We really liked Mark from the beginning and wanted to work with him. We got a couple quotes and Evergreen wasn't the cheapest, but we decided to go with them, especially after he was willing to work with us on price. The guys that did the job were great, they showed up on time, did good work, and were easy to work with. We love the fence and are so happy with it! We had a question about one of the gates and Mark came out to look at it and explain the construction decision. I highly recommend Mark and Evergreen Fence and Deck!

The job went extremely well. The crew (Mike and Daniel) was top-notch. They were prompt, courteous, professional, and their problem-solving skills re construction and design made the project go very smoothly. Mark, the owner of the company, gave me a fair price, and was available for consultation throughout the project. The end result exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this company for deck work without any hesitation.

The work was done with a thoroughness and professionalism that I expect among my colleagues at the NIH, but that is sometimes lacking among tradesman. I would hire them again in heartbeat.

Steve and his crew always showed up as promised (or called/texted if plans needed to be changed. They first power washed the deck and then repaired the deck (filled holes, re-set nails, and replaced a couple of pieces of wood. They then applied primer and 2 coats of deck and dock paint (our deck was quite worn, so stain would not do) with anti-skid powder mixed in. Finally, they replaced the post caps. Took about 3 days (dodging rain). Steve noticed a couple of other things (e.g., debris on top of gutter covers, loose shingles) and took care of these as well. I would highly recommend Steve Hash DBA Evergreen Fence & Deck for wood deck and/or fence repair.

Evergreen built a new 16' x 18' screened porch, added a 6' x 10' extension to our existing deck, replaced windows with a sliding glass door, and repaired flashing to the old deck. Mark responded immediately to our request for a new deck and worked with us to come up with an optimal design to add on to the existing deck. The new screened porch has been a great addition to our home and we use it almost every day. They also recommended a Marvin door that was cheaper and superior to the more well known brands. They replaced the flashing to our existing deck that solved some water issues that were caused by incorrect installation by the previous deck builder. Mark's team did a great job finding and installing the additional siding that was needed, which matched our existing siding perfectly. From start to finish, Evergreen was professional and prompt with the design and build including the additional electrical, lighting, and ceiling fan that were installed.

I don't know if I will be using them yet.

It was a good experience. They were punctual and polite. They were just not affordable. They were prompt and professional.

We started this whole process maybe a month in advance, stating on day 1 that we wanted the patio to extend all the way to a fence we were having put in, which was in line with our neighbor's, so there was no mystery about where the patio would end. We picked out a beautiful patio stone, and received the contract (that had no measurements in it) but we assumed everything was understood (patio going to the fence). Five days prior to the work starting we received a drawing of what was supposed to be the patio (why we didn't receive it at the same time of the contract, I don't know), and we noticed that the drawing was incorrect, the patio did not extend the whole way to our fence. We decided to meet with Tim, the man overseeing this project (now 2 days before scheduled start day), to finalize the patio plans and correct the drawing. When he came to our house he informed my fiance and me that he left the grassy areas due to drainage reasons. Long story short, he informed us that we would incur an additional cost due to us wanting it to go to the fence, which was all we ever wanted from the beginning! I was frustrated when we received the additional $528 in charges due to his mistake and had my parents reach out to discuss, since they were helping fund the patio. He told my parents a completely different story (lie) and said that at the time he came out we had no fence up and he was just "guessing" where the patio would go out to, which fell short of the fence. He sent this drawing before even seeing our fence, so why wouldn't he have told us the same story when he came back out? This was just complete BS, because as I stated. on day 1, we told him that our new fence would align with our neighbors'. Due to insanely unprofessional manner, and the additional last minute charges, we had to cancel the patio work literally the night before it was supposed to start. Disappointed is an UNDER statement. I then tried to reach out to Evergreen to see if they could help rectify the situation and we didn't even receive an apology. What a mess! Stay away for patios, and for fences we received a better quote/price from a very wonderful company in the area. UPDATE 7-20-2017 Update to my previous review: Upon seeing my reviews, the management proceeded to call me and berate me on the phone in an attempt to bully me. Management was very angry about my honest feedback and review. Thankfully I recorded the entire conversation, in which he said he may take a few months to return our deposited check, thankfully we canceled it anyway. I've never in my life dealt with such poor customer service. His argument was that since they were returning my money I basically shouldn't leave my honest feedback and review. Completely unprofessional.

Very well overall. Generally I am not a big fan of pressure washing because it changes the texture of the wood, making it "furry" although a light sanding after cleaning usually takes care of that. I'd never used a stain before and we ended up blending two Sherwin Williams colors to get closer to the gray that I wanted. The owner/manager Steve Hash is very pleasant and excellent at keeping you informed of what will happen when and letting you know if the schedule needs to slide because of changing weather or whatever. His employees were also very polite and hardworking, often working very long days to take advantage of good weather. Not the cheapest estimate I got, but I'm pleased with my choice. No hesitation to recommend.
