Evergreen Fence & Deck

Appointment was made to get a quote. 1 hour prior to appointment, received call that location was "too far" and that would not be coming. Thanks for the advanced notice.

This project went smoothly from the estimate to the construction of the fence and clean up. The crew was like a well oiled machine. They removed the old split rail fence, installed a plank fence and cleaned up everything around the fence,

I was very pleased. Mark did exactly what he said he would do. The fence removal and the installation of the new fence was done in a professional and timely manner. It looks great !

Steve, Garret and Francisco were great to work with. They took time to review the work before starting. They were prompt — the job was done sooner than I initially expected. They were thorough and cleaned up after the work was complete. The deck looks like new.

Excellent work! The Evergreen Fence crew (Steve, Garrett, and Francisco) were prompted and quickly power washed & cleaned the old deck. The 30+ year old deck and siding looked brand new based on Garrett amazing work! We also appreciated the honesty of Steve's estimate to first power wash & clean then assess if we need to stain the deck and/or determine which deck lumber needs to be replaced (Phased approach) versus the other estimates of just staining or replacing the whole deck. Cost was definitely a factor in hiring decision. Lastly, we want to commend Francisco of his outstanding carpentry work on the top deck rail, which was shape more like a snake than square. As a result of their terrific work, we circulated Evergreen's business contact among family, friends and neighbors. Hope to use the same Evergreen crew on another project! Generally, the crew did a good job. However, they missed attaching a few lattice trim sections. I had to go back and nail them. They also attached a couple of cross beams crooked, which looks bad on the inside of yard. Not sure how I'm going to fix that. The most annoying thing was discovering that the crew severed one of my underground irrigation hoses when installing posts. I had to dig that up and repair it.

Steve and his crew did an outstanding job cleaning, sealing and staining our new porch and deck (also installed by Evergreen). It was a big job with over 2,000 square feet, but necessary to preserve the wood and our investment. If you have a new wood deck or porch, it's highly recommended to get it properly sealed and stained before it becomes weathered and old looking. I highly recommend Evergreen Fence and Deck to do the job.

Mark was a pleasure to work with, ensured he understood what we needed and explained everything clearly. His employees were professionals and built a high-quality fence on-site, so it's exactly what we need. They also immaculately cleaned the areas where they worked.

My 32 year old deck looks like new ! I didn't want to replace my deck.. the railings were custom designed and in good shape, but the deck was worn and in bad shape. Evergreen replaced a number of the boards and was able to work under the railings without removing them. Where possible, instead of using new lumber, they turned the boards over. The entire deck was then sanded and painted. I wasn't able to use stain because of previous treatment of the wood, so they used porch and deck paint. It's a beautiful job, looks like a new deck ! They were great people to work with, and I thought the price was reasonable for the amount of work they did...

Mark stopped by the same day to give us an estimate and the work was completed a couple of weeks later with no problems. Price seemed fair.

Workers were prompt, very courteous and clean. The owner was very responsive and easy to reach. The finished deck was just what I wanted and I’m pleased. The workmanship was very good..they built a sturdy deck and steps that I’m sure will last for a long time.

I have been working with a lot of contractors to improve our home and yard this summer. I was very pleased with Evergreen, the manager Mark and the guys that did the work. Mark responded promptly to my initial inquiry. We scheduled an appt and he arrived on time and gave me options for the fence style, a general idea of costs, and then he followed up with a quote quickly. When I had to repeatedly delay the job because of issues with removal of a large tree he was very accommodating. The guys who came to do the work were courteous, orderly and consulted with me on some shrub trimming that was needed. They also cleared away some extra construction debris when I asked if they would. Mark visited the job twice which was good to see. I liked how they solved the problem of how to put the fence right up to a couple of trees. Very clever solution. They did a good job of cleaning up. And they completed the job in one day, which was nice.

The job could not have gone better. Steve, the project manager, was really quite extraordinary in the way he communicated with us, cooperated with us around our vacation schedule, paid attention to "the little things," managed his crew and delivered a fabulous job. His people, too, perhaps in response to seeing how committed, sincere and dedicated Steve is, were also all diligent and detail-oriented and seemed to really care about doing things right. I mean this in the best possible way: Steve is old-fashioned. Not slick, not fast-talking; just honest, trustworthy, reliable and a real pleasure to do business with.

Great. They came when they said, and did a nice job repairing the fence.

Tim, Roberto, and the rest of the crew were absolutely amazing. From the start, Tim spent a lot of time with us discussing patio design options, which was great because while we knew what we liked and had inputs as to what we liked, we didn't know exactly what we wanted going in. Tim put together a great design and spent time with us looking at pavers and materials at a showroom which gave us a good feel as to what to expect in our finished patio. Roberto and his crew actually showed up a bit early and worked through the day into the night and finished most of the work that needed to be done. Overall, the work took just a bit more than a day to get additional drainage put in and a patio and walkway installed. I am very impressed by the quality of the work and their commitment to getting the work done well and on time -- very professional! They even put down grass seed and hay, which is great as I was expecting to have to do that myself. Overall, I felt that Evergreen offered a lot more personalized attention which is what set them apart from others, and our back yard turned out much better for it. I can't recommend them enough and would hire them again for any work in the future.

Our rear deck is about 29 years old. The deck had the problems of some old decks, such as cracks and an inability to hold new stain. In April, 2019, we contacted and spoke to Steve of Evergreen Fence & Deck. Steve recommended that (1) our rear deck be sanded and re-stained with S.W. Deck & Dock and (2) several bad planks be replaced. The result is that the deck now looks fantastic. Sanding helped present better wood to the stain. And Deck and Dock was heavy enough to de-emphasize the plank's superficial surface wear and tear. [Note that four years ago a different deck restorer years ago tried but failed to revitalize our deck.] Steve is a pro--he knew exactly what he was doing. And the people working with Steve, led by Francisco, were also great. At our request, Evergreen also performed some "handyman work" to the deck--they strengthened rails that support plants; removed a door locking mechanism on the deck, etc.

Mark and his team added Deck railings with metal spindles and a new bench. They did a fantastic job!!!!

My townhouse had a small, neglected backyard that I never used. I contacted Evergreen and Mark, the owner, came by recommended that I put in a privacy fence on the property line and cover everything inside with a paver patio to make the best use of the limited space I had. I'm so glad I listened and hired Evergreen to do the job. My backyard went from an eyesore to one of the nicest in the development. Many thanks to Mark and his hardworking crew.

We hired Evergreen to help us resolve a deck and house issue created by a previous homeowner's poorly constructed diy deck and under deck storage area, which held moisture against the house to the point of rotting out studs in the back of the house. If you want excellent work planned and done right, you can't go wrong with Evergreen. They were very patient in helping us figure out how to resolve the issues and then brought in totally awesome teams for each step of the work, resulting in absolutely an A+ job. This note summarizes our experience: "We realized tonight we have spent an entire day being more or less amazed by the truly awesome work your deck and patio teams have done. We have literally being going out to look at the work every few hours and being rather stunned by how well it came together. The rock solid deck in itself is awesome, and then adding in the patio, which is like a mini masterpiece in its own right, makes the combination quite amazing. After all the back and forth on the patio pavers and border, I am still not quite sure how we ended up at perfect, but it is perfect. The materials are just right, the design is simple but classic, and the work done on the patio is really amazing. I think I fall in the category of people who walk around shaking their head and saying “I don’t know” about all the options, particularly never having done this before. And yet, we ended up with something that is exactly right. So there must be something in your patience and process that brings people around to a great design. I hope you can convey this to your team members, who are masters at their work, truly."

I am writing this review not as someone who booked this company, but as someone who had a bad experience over the telephone with this company while trying to schedule a quote. The man basically spent the entire conversation telling me how his company was in upper Montgomery county and it was “high end” and generally trying to back out of giving me a quote by explaining how the job I wanted to do was beneath him. He could have just said, we do not do jobs in Anne Arundel County or for homes smaller than #x# square feet. But, he was extremely condescending, rude, and dismissive. I politely ended the conversation before I could listen to him “mansplain” me any further. I would never hire this company. That was a terribly unprofessional experience!

Contacted relatively quickly saying he was out of town and would come by the next week. He never showed that week. Had to contact him again at which point he told me again he would stop by but never did. Gave me a VERY high estimate for a railing replacement of $1,500. When pressed for information regarding the other concerns I had, he just went silent and never responded. Obviously he never came by and clearly he did not want a small job (could have been a much bigger job had he stopped by and determined other work that needed to be done). I have no problem with companies not wanting to take on a small job , just say so.

I called about 8 times today and no one answered the phone. I finally sent an email, and I was told that Evergreen does not do fence repair. I'd searched Angie's List for "fence repair," and found Evergreen, so there is a problem with this search function.

I posted a rather negative review earlier today and wish to rescind it. The gentleman from Evergreen did come out to review the work I needed done, but didn't think he had the right people to do a good repair. Unfortunately, he didn't leave me a note so I didn't think he came, but I received a very nice phone call today explaining the situation and as a result of that, I would contact Evergreen in the future if I needed another type of fencing job

I’m one of those “hard-to-please” clients, but I’m truly pleased with my new fence. When Mark, the owner of Evergreen Fence and Deck, arrived to give me an estimate for my fencing project, I was sold! He exuded an air of confidence and knowledge, and I felt comfortable with him from the start. My backyard posed challenges since it’s on a hill grade, but that didn’t stop Mark’s crew from meticulously building my fence. When I had questions or comments about the construction, the crew’s leader competently and patiently explained what they were doing and also stayed in close communication with Mark. The construction crew was hard-working, polite, and meticulous. I was in awe of their tenacity as they worked tirelessly in the summer heat to build my fence. As I said, I was a “hard-to-please” client; and, after the fence was installed, I wanted a couple of changes to the construction. Mark listened to my request, met with me in person, carefully considered the best way to meet my needs, and delivered. My fence is perfect! Not only do I have a beautifully fenced yard, but I have the highest regard for Mark and his company.

Mark and his team were awesome. They quickly responded to my inquiry. Mark came and provided an estimate within a couple of days. The crew that installed the new fencing were professional and respectful. We will use them when future needs arise.
