Technician showed up on time and work was completed promtly. I did purchase the plastic access panel ahead of time and they did not charge me for it, but did charge me to install it even though they had to cut into the wall anyway. I thought that could have been absorbed into the price, but not a big issue nor anything. Service overall was great and technician was very helpful.
Description of Work: We needed plumbing work down, because of an accident the fawcet part of the bath tub was broken off. John C Flood repaired the issue, using my original fawcet, and put in an access panel for future access to the area.

We had a sewer back up in early February and were told by several companies that we needed our old cast iron sewer line replaced. We asked the following companies for estimates: John C. Flood, Len the Plumber, Magnolia Plumbing, Rocket Rooter Plumbing, and James Vito. The initial bids were $5,740 from John C. Flood, $6,295 from Len the Plumber, $6,950 from Magnolia Plumbing (but only for 20 ft, not 35 ft), and $8,166.00 from James Vito. Rocket Rooter Plumbing never provided an estimate. I started negotiation with Magnolia first, because I was told by a friend that they were very competitive. In their initial estimate they offered $4,650 for a 6 ft replacement or $6,950 for a 20 ft replacement. After talking to the guy twice and letting him know that I got much better bids, they offered $5,300 for a 35 ft. replacement. With that in hand, I talked to the other companies and eventually decided on John C. Flood because they were the second lowest with an offer of $5,340 and their initial estimate was considerably closer to their final big than that of Magnolia Plumbing. The work was performed within two days in very difficult weather (close to zero degrees temperatures). The only thing I am not 100% happy with is that my front yard now looks like bit like the moon with lots of little craters. According to JCF, the soil has to settle before it can be leveled. I am sure they are right, but I am also pretty sure that they could have done a better job.
Description of Work: Replaced a 35-ft., 50 year old, sewer line from the face of the house foundation to the Utility's lateral/property line.

No, the irritating thing was that after numerous calls, they never did what they said they would - namely, order a plumbing part. The required a 100% advance deposit on a plumbing part, never ordered it, and now refuse to make a refund. Do not use them.
Description of Work: Stay away from John C Flood of DC. They are horrible. Inexperienced plumber and terrible customer service. Last Dec they insisted we pay $850 for a plumbing part. In Jan they admitted they had not ordered the part so we used another plumber. They still have not refunded this $850. In addition, the management was rude and hung up on me when I asked for a refund. This was the worst consumer experience I have had.

The plumber that came, did the work. The drains are opened up. Im no longer having a problem. That was fine. When I had the work done before when they dug up the laundry room floor, they cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job. But in this new situation, he did not clean up his mess. There was gunk all over the floor and wall. The only real complaint I have though is what they charged me. They wanted to charge me $629.00 for two snaked drains. Other than that, that's the real complaint that I have. The plumber got the price from his boss apparently. They brought the price down to $479.00 since I am an older customer. I can not believe that price even. I would like to ask them where they got this price from.

They did not fix the problem, only a temporary fix. I had to bring in another company. Originally the problem was sewage backing up in the house. The guy can over and did some initial analysis and said he could do a video of my line to see the problem. They snaked it out with the video. He said it was toilet paper. Two weeks later it started up again. They did not give me the video and I was told by others that I should get a copy of it and I called them back to get the copy and did not get it. They were courteous enough but I felt like they were pushing me towards the big do, which is to come out and dig up my line. They said I would have to get my sewage pipe replaced and I did not want to bust up my new floors. I felt they were pushing me towards the bigger purchase.

Don't expect their service person to complete all the work you have contracted with them. The person that sercviced my Heat pump kicked the maintenence forward until the system failed. If the technician tells you that your system needs freon, but it's ok until next time, make sure that he takes care of it NOW! Take the time to make sure that he inspects every aspect of your heating system, not that the heat pump comes on when he adjusts the thermostat. You shouldn't have to do this, but you will with if you contract with them. I had a contract with them for several years. Everything went fine. I guess they lost intereset in service contracts, because they didn't seem to be intereseted in completing the inspection or repairing the things that they found wrong.

I ended up paying for my ceiling repairs myself and have no assurances that the system will work correctly when I turn the unit on next season.
Description of Work: This company installed my original exterior unit and then a new interior unit. From the start, they put in a discontinued exterior unit and then were unable to correctly match the interior unit. The installation was a series of errors: They used the wrong refrigerant to charge the unit, causing it to be filed with non condensates. Then they perforated the condensation pan with a screw. These issues were confirmed by an outside HVAC expert. When I turned on the unit this season, it leaked and completely ruined my ceiling. Not only did not refuse accept responsibility for their faulty work, but they also refused to warranty their work, and they were rude. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

Called for service during 90 degree weather for a malfunctioning central air unit. The first technician diagnosed the problem and said it needed a new cicuit board which wold take 1-2 days. 7 days later I call and they send out a person the following week with a new circuit board. After installing the cicuit board the technician stated that the board wasn't the issue and we needed a new sensor. Should have the part in 2 days. 5 days later I call and they don't have the part and don't have us on their schedule at all. I said they need to get someone out here soon and they agree to send someone the next day at 9am. At 9:30 I called to check the status and the company replied that he was almost there. At 10 am - still nobody - I called again. The person on the phone stated that the technician was "right around the corner". Fast forward to 11:00, 2 hours late and they don't even send a service technician, but some supervisor to try and make me feel better. To top it off, he wanted me to sign a contract to have it repaired for $900 before they even repaired it! They, wasted 3 weeks of time and then asked for more money!! Unbelievable. I told them I would not be wanting their service anymore. Avoid at all costs!

They cut into the drywall of several closets looking for the water shutoff valve, and then they cut more holes to let the warm air freeze the pipes. I was not home so I was discussing all of this over the phone. The plumber that they sent did not seem very experienced and, at one point, the manager called me because he was concerned about what the guy had been doing. I had all of this drywall repair to do and they never found the frozen pipe so I had to call another plumber who fixed it for $150. I wrote letters to the company and they gave me $150 back, but I still can?t believe that I spent $650 for a plumber to show up, ask to borrow my hair dryer and toolkit, and try to figure out what was wrong. They did come out within the three hour window that they gave me, so I can't fail them there. It took me several emails and phone calls to get them to call me back.

We called them about a year ago to fix a major leak in the bathroom. They came and told us that they need to re-center the bathtub so the leak can be fixed. The leak came back after three months. We called them again and they told us that the tub that we had was the wrong tub and what we need was a smaller "drop-in tub." We trusted their judgement since we were under their one-year warranty anyway so we asked them to order the right tub for our bathroom. The entire process lasted six weeks until the new tub arrived and they started working in the bathroom. The job was start and go for two weeks...much longer than we thought it would take to complete. We called them and they told us that the tub that they ordered was too small and they needed to raise the floor and plumbing so the new tub can fit. But we needed to pay them extra for that service. So they didn't fix the original problem, they ordered the wrong tub and now they want extra cash to do something that they should have done in the first place. We're currently taking them to DC Small Claims Court so we can get our money back and pay someone else to finish the job. We would never recommend this company to anyone.

The technician took the contol apart and quickly told me that the diverter needed to be replaced. He asked me the brand of the faucet, which I did not know. He then told me that the entire valve - which connects to the water lines - would have to be replaced because he didn't know what the brand of the diverter part was. He also told me that he would have to bust through the surrounding tile to get full access to the valve, and that he had a replacement valve on his truck so work could proceed. I asked him to explain again why just the diverter couldn't be replaced - without having to replace the valve and put holes in my tile - and he repeated it was because he didn't know the brand of the diverter. I told him I didn't want him doing anything further, and he left the shower control disassembled with parts all over the bathroom. I paid the $99 service charge. I immediately looked at the diverter and clearly found the Kingston Brass part number on it - so I ordered the part from a company on the internet and put it all back together myself. John C. Flood was not trustworthy.

The tech showed up when he said he would and kept his helper running back and forth to the truck. I served to cut the water off at the street as the interior shutoff valve was defective and to run upstairs to drain the lines several times. It was cooperative effort - I have done lots of plumbing jobs over the years on the several properties I have but was getting defeated by this one and the tech was understanding and showed me more effective techniques on soldering, etc.
Description of Work: After trying five DC plumbers who could not come in an emergency, JC Flood tech (Brian) came within the hour, did the fix that I had started (replacing a shower one handle faucet system that I had purchased but was probematic because of how it was located) but could not finish and then did more than I asked, answering questions and showing me techniques for next time I want to dive into a plumbing job, A supervisor (Bill Gallagher) came by to check and fill out the contract and was also helpful. Everything done professionally, did not try to sell me stuff, and I never felt that "Uh, oh I am really going to get screwed on this one because it is an emergency." Three hours for $279 with complicated stuff in an emergency- a real deal.

This company is a disaster -- incompetent, arrogant, rude and dishonest. Aside from not fixing the running toilet, the service person knocked the top of the toilet against the sink, resulting in a large chip in the toilet top. His response to this accident was rude and snide, offering the "fix" his mistake with some glue. When i suggested this might not be sufficient, he said, very rudely "Oh, I get it. You're just trying to get a new toilet from us." Subsequently the company did promised to replace toilet top. A supervisor, Buckey Davis came to my house to apologize and get info to order top. When I didn't hear from them for more than a month, I tried calling the company. The people with whom I spoke were consistently rude and evasive. One person even gave me a fictitious name for the company CEO. Mel Davis, who I gather is a manager of some sort, was particularly surly, suggesting that his company had been in business for decades and "never received a complaint." Buckey Davis came again to my home about a week later and again, promised to replace the toilet top (he didn't know why it hadn't been done thus far). He gave me his cell number and said if I hadn't heard from him within a few days, I should call him. A week later, not having heard from him, I tried calling him. There was no answer, so I left a voice mail. This was the first of perhaps ten calls, all no answer, all leaving voice mail messages. Now approximately a month after he came to the house for the second time, I have still not heard from them.

They were good. I was in a rush, having a leaking pipe run into muy kitchen, so I wasn't shopping around. I called in the evening and they had someone there before I had to get to work in the AM. It cost a thousand dollars to fix the leak (pipe was in a cement floor), but they got it done. The plummer, Trey is from the area and knew the house quite well and showed me a few things how these rowhouses are built. After the holidays, my wife wanted a utility sink installed because of the renovation we are doing. I had called around to get pricing. Flood costs a lot more than other plummers, but they are able to work with my schedule. I was even able to get the same guy to come out. He's great. I wish it didn't cost so much to get him there.

Once the agreement was signed, JCF came out and performed the work the next day. However, the basement started to leak from around the area where JCF supposedly fixed. In attempt to resolve the issue encountered calls not returned timely, showing up at the property unannounced and upset that no one is at home, being rude to my tenants, and finally when contacted by AMEX indicating that I was the one who proposed the solution (or Band Aide as stated by the GM) and that I was upset that it did not work out. The problem has yet to be fixed. I will have to procure the services of another company to remedy the situation. I am highly and totally disappointed that this company did not stand behind its work. Needless to say that I will NEVER use this again.
Description of Work: Under heavy, extended rain conditions, water seeps into the concrete basement where the window meets the basement wall. The consistent heavy downpours in late May and early June finally prompted us to seek professional assistance in getting the problem solved once and for all. Jim (the JCF sales person) proposed removing the existing window well, tarring wall and gravel area, installing new window well, and re-routing existing broken condensate line from outside to inside. He seemed very knowledgeable about the situation and the proposed solution. As a result, we decided to go with them.
