BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE PAINTING INC

The original painting was done on 22nd of July and they did a terrible job. They then came back, a couple of weeks ago, and did some touching up and repainting. It still is probably the worst paint job that I have ever had done in this house. I found them off of Angie’s List - and I really enjoy Angie’s List - but I don’t understand honestly how they can have the kind of rave reviews that they have on Angie’s List and do this kind of work, especially here in Bethesda, Maryland, which is really an upscale area. They sent two young men here and I don’t know if they have ever painted before. One barely spoke English and the other one didn’t speak any at all. I assume that the details of the work get passed on from the estimator to the crew supervisor, and from there on to the workers. The supervisor just dropped the workers off and expected them to be able to understand what the estimator - who is the person you talk to, John Folk Jr. - had worked out for us. It was really non-satisfactory. Their estimate was much higher than anybody else’s, including those of the previous painters that I had used to do basically the same thing. They had great reviews, and so I went with them. The original estimate was $4,000. They gave me the Angie’s List discount, and it ended up being $3,395. It was not an insignificant amount of money. As soon as I called, he did arrange to come out and look. They were punctual. The estimator was very professional but there was a lot left to be desired from the supervisor and the painters.

Everything was fine. I have no complaints. I was in a hurry so I did not compare prices, but they did a good job.

It is nice. They did a good job. I was glad to find them on Angie's List. They came in an did the work in two days. They put two coast on all of the woodwork. The ceiling was a difficult job, because of having to scrape and seal it, but it turned out nicely.

They were very good and we were very happy with the work. They were also very punctual.

They were extremely responsive and professional. The work was of high quality. Their bid on most of the work was competitive. However, when a walk-in closet was unexpectedly discovered behind a panel (I had just bought the house and hadn't known it was there) and I asked them to do work on it, I felt that the prices quoted for that additional work were high. For example, they charged me $200 to simply remove an unattached cabinet in the space, when they weren't the ones hauling it away. On the remainder of the costs of the work, they cut the price after I argued with them.

The job was completed in two days. Armando was the contractor in charge and brought in extra people to get it done in two days. Armando was great to deal with and BCC's estimate was much lower than two other offers I received. They kept the place clean throughout and even worked around other contractors doing work in the house.

Everything went very quickly and smoothly from start to finish. They were able to come to my house to do an estimate a day after I called them. They weren't the cheapest estimate but they seemed the most professional so I decided to go with them. We scheduled the painting to start the following week and it only took 2 days for them to finish the job. They did a beautiful job and I would definitely use them for another painting project.

The company was responsive and did a great job.

I contacted Bethesda Chevy Chase Painting - based on ratings from Angie's List - on 4/15/09, and John Folk came on the morning of 4/16 to survey my home and prepare an estimate. I received the written estimate in the mail on 4/21. John followed-up with a phone call on 4/23 to ask if I had received the estimate and if I had any questions. (I got estimates from two other companies, both highly rated on Angie's List, within this same time period. The estimates were very similar in cost, but Bethesda Chevy Chase was the only one of the three that guaranteed two finish coats - the others were "where needed" - and the only one that followed-up with a phone call.) I made a verbal commitment to BCC on 4/29, and sent them the signed contract on 5/1. Their crew, headed by the foreman, Jose, began work on the morning of 5/12, and finished mid-day on 5/19 (they did not work on the weekend, per my request). The number of painters working on any given day ranged from 2 to 5; but there were 3 or 4 working most days. The were courteous, thorough, made no mistakes, and cleaned up after themselves. My wife and I are very pleased with the quality of their work.

This was a good experience. The estimate was very reasonable compared to others and work started on time. The crew cleaned up every day. I highly recommend BETHESDA CHEVY CHASE PAINTING INC and will use them again for my future painting needs.

The estimator was proactive and professional. He pointed out areas where wallpaper was under the paint, and sections that would need to be primed. The painters arrived on schedule every day, and the work was completed on time, despite some areas that were damaged under the old wallpaper and needed extra work. The work was top quality. The only complaint I had was that communication was somewhat loose between the estimator, the painters and us. As an example, I had to remind them that the outside handrail was part of the job. They took care of it as soon as possible, though.

The owner called us and we told him we were very satisfied with the work. The one thing we didn't want to say is that we were uneasy that they subcontract to people who don't necessarily speak english. The only thing negative was the last guy there tried to sell us the left over paint we assumed we had already paid for. He ended up coming back and giving us the rest of the paint. I didn't tell the owner this, I just didn't want to make a problem. The work was excellent, I was just a little uneasy about them being fair to the people that actually did the work.

This was an excellent experience from start to finish. They came promptly to give me a quote, which was fair and in line with the marketplace. They were able to paint the rooms a few days later. The crew that came was prompt and professional. The paint job was great and I think they left my house cleaner than it was when they came. I would definitely use them again.

They came with a crew of six and had both the inside and out painted in three weeks. They were very efficient and always on time. The crew boss was not the most pleasant person to work with was the only complaint I have. They did a great job on our house. I have recommended them to others.

The porch was in pretty bad shape. I had gotten estimates from four other contractors, and Mr. Folk, the owner of Bethesda Chevy Chase, gave the most professional estimate, well within the range of the others. It was written out and explained in detail on the spot. The Angie's List discount was included without the least prevaricating. I signed the contract and sent in a check for 1/3 of the original amount, and on a Thursday, two days after the check was deposited, I got a call from them. They were able to start the work that Monday. It took four days. During the work I was told that the insulation had to be replaced and the gutter just above had to be better secured than the recent roofers had made it - all this for an extra $750, which given the condition of the porch was very reasonable - I had been already told by Mr. Folk that the cost may be a little more because they did not know what they would find once they began working. Mr. Gonzales, the foreman, was polite and accommodating and was present throughout. The crew showed up each day exactly when they were scheduled and worked quickly, quietly and continuously- clean up was thorough. I had been having other work done on the house in the last few months, and I can say without hesitation that Bethesda Chevy Chase were the best of all my contractors- honest and completely reliable. If I have need for any other work within their capacities I will use them. It was a wonderful experience to know that you are in such good hands.

This company was very responsive. They were here only a day after I first called, and the job was done within a week of my first call. While most of the work was of the highest quality, some small details were overlooked. I was not very involved in the process itself, so it is really more a question of my preferences rather than any fault of the company.

They were very neat and tidy. They were responsive and professional. The painting was very good and we were completely satisfied with the job that they performed. They did there job in a timely fashion. We were very happy overall.

I cannot speak highly enough of Bethesda Chevy Chase Painting Co. From start to finish, everyone I encountered with this company was pleasant and professional. When I first called, I was able to get an estimate scheduled with John Folk within 48 hours, and although they did not offer the lowest price, I was impressed with Mr. Folk's knowledge and professionalism, as well as the thoroughness of the estimate and the materials he provided about his company. He called the next week to follow up and was able to answer a few questions I had. When we finally settled on using BCC Painting, I called on a Thursday and Beverly was able to schedule the job to start the following Monday. Jose Noel was our foreman and was very professional and courteous. The crew of three men worked for two days on our home, and on the second day they worked until after 7 pm in order to finish the job. The work looks fantastic, and they moved all our furniture back into place and cleaned/vacuumed up after themselves. The only spot that wasn't so clean was outside - paint-splattered grass and bushes, but this is minor, especially when everything else went so smoothly.

They arrived on time. They worked continuously for a four day period and got it all done very well.

They advised me to get my gutters clean. They did a good job but nothing out of the ordinary. The thing special about them is that they did not just paint my house but replaced the doors that looked very good. They did a great job.

The crew was polite, on-time and cleaned up. When we came home and disliked the color we had picked, they offered to repaint the house at a discount. We had them back out a week later and again they did a great job.

Fast and reliable. Foreman and staff were very professional. Kept us informed and asked if we had questions.

One of the owners of the company came out for the estimate. Was very professional went through every room and drafted a proposal of exactly what was to be done. Price was competitive. I had other slightly lower estimates but felt most comfortable with this company. Process went well overall. The foreman on the job was easily reachable and extremely professional. Painting was exceptional. Only complaint was the amount of dust that remained after the project. Wished they had cleaned with mop versus just a sweep.

I felt they did everything well. They were very clean and respectful of my requests. I was just very satisfied. I told them I will be calling them back this spring for more work.

Bethesda did excellent work on my home. They were timely, respectful and did a great job of clean up. The men were considerate in answering any questions I had. I really appreciated their professionalism and their honestly.
