 + -1 moreI had an appointment with Azad on Sunday, the 12th. At the last minute, I became ill and was not able to keep the appointment. Azad was more than kind. We were able to reschedule for the following Saturday. He arrived promptly--very business like--and got right to work. He asked a few questions and dIagnosed I'd cracked my hard drive when I'd accidentally dropped it. He explained what he was doing (and why) thru the entire process. He then gave me an estimate of what it would cost to replace the hard drive, and a few other things--no pressure at all. His estimate was $250 (which was much less than I'd been quoted from another source if a cracked hard drive proved to be problem). I was debating whether to have the work done or start new and he gave me quite a lot of information to make an informed decision--again no pressure. We said we'd think about it. Also, while he was there, he gave me some excellent advice on utilizing my external hard drive and other computer related issues. As he was leaving, I expected a bill--there was no charge even though he'd been at the house for over an hour. He also said whatever we decided, if we ever had questions, please call. After discussion, I decided to start new and wanted the best machine for the money, so I called Azad. He was wonderful--not only did he give me honest recommendations based on MY needs, but because of his help I was able to get an excellent machine for quite a bit less than I'd planned to spend. I would call him again in a heartbeat and have already given his name to several co-workers.
Description of Work: My laptop would not boot up. It kept telling me to start in safe mode, it seemed to be starting and then nothing would happen. Then it would tell me to start in normal mode--again nothing. It was 18 months old and, of course, just out of warranty. In addition, it had become incredibly slow and unresponsive.

 + -1 moreI contacted Micro Geek after another company failed to show up. Azad returned my call within a couple of hours, apologized for not answering my call due to being in a meeting. I deal with a lot of contractors on a daily basis and have never had one apologize for not answering my call. We set up an appointment for the following day, we discussed my problem over the phone, at that time he told my I would probably not need to replace my hard drive that it probably need cleaning out. Our appointment was scheduled for noon, he called me a little before noon to tell me his was delayed and would be here in 15 to 20 minutes, which he was, again apologized for being late. After looking at the files in my computer, he found the problem within 5 minutes, deleted the files and freed up 80% for my hard drive space. He also noticed that my internet connection was very slow, again with 2 minutes problem solved. He ran more test, clean things up. I found Azad very knowledgeable he explained everything he was doing in a way that I could understand. I would HIGHLY recommend him to any one having computer issues. My computer has never ran better.

 + -1 moreThey did service on my Apple computer. The job didn't go as well as I expected it to go. I don't think they know Apple well. They know IBM. They have got good reviews from other people. They were very good at anticipating necessity. When they fixed my Apple, they changed the operating system on it. I didn't have the copy of the new operating system. They upgraded my operating system. It took them a while to understand that I really wanted to have one so that I would be able to restore the original operating system if anything went wrong. I think a lot of that has to do with their familiarity with Apple. They replaced the drive that was originally just a CD-ROM drive with a super drive. They even replaced some parts in the computer. I will not use them because I want someone who will understand Apple better.

 + -1 moreMy computer became infected while working in the early am hours. I contacted The Micro Geek company during business hours the same day. I had a long work day - but Azad accommodated me and came in the evening after 8 pm and completed the work the same day. As I need to utilize my computer for work at home - this work was efficient and excellent resulting in no impact to my job. The price was extremely reasonable for the quick service and after hours accommodation.
Description of Work: My computer was infected with a virus and was essentially non-functional. I could not get to the internet or repair with the loaded antivirus software. Azad - cleaned off the virus from my computer / saved my files and reloaded everything back in perfect working order.

 + -1 moreI recently purchased a laptop and a wireless printer because of recurring problems I was having with my business laptop and printer. Although, I'm somewhat knowledgeable of computers, it would often take me a long time(which I do not have) to figure things out. In addition, because I'm self employed, I did not like to be without my computers for several days when I had to take them in for service. For these reasons, l was in search of someone who would set up the new devices, reconfigure the existing network as well as to provide ongoing support, including remote support when I am on business travel. I contacted the Micro Geek based on the positive feedback from other customers. From our telephone conversation Azad, the owner of the Micro Geek, not only understood my problems and concerns but also provided several options for addressing them. The services Azad performed included optimizing the new laptop, installing MS Office and other software, creating user profiles, transferring my files, internet bookmarks and browsing histories to the new laptop and setting up the new devices on the network. He also assessed the feasibility of retiring an older desktop computer and evaluated my current back-up process. Azad was cost conscientious and offered recommendations that would utilize my existing tools. My overall experience with the Micro Geek was very positive. Based on his prices, responsiveness and services, I intend to use Azad for all my technological needs!

 + -1 moreAzad squeezed me into his schedule for the morning after I called him. He was very capable and very pleasant, and figured out the bulk of my problem after some searching and an "Aha!" moment. He was able to take care of things that my spouse and I hit a wall on, and generally spruced up my computer nicely. He also explained things clearly. He looked at another computer as well and offered to test it to see if its motherboard was kaput. I'd be delighted to hire him again if I reach a point where I'm stuck.
Description of Work: After "very low memory" messages, my Dell Mini was able to power up, but that was about all. It wouldn't even let me delete a large program I knew I needed to remove. Azad cleaned it up. He looked in places I never would have thought to look for what was taking up so much space. He discussed with me whether I needed the program I wanted to remove; we agreed I didn't need it, and he was able to remove it. He removed outdated antivirus and anti-spying software, and installed a new program. Ultimately, he freed up about a third of the hard drive. He explained compression to me and how it can slow down processing times, and suggested I should have additional computing power beyond the Mini for my purposes -- an issue I's been wondering about. He also took an initial look at a hardware problem on a different computer and narrowed down the possible issues.

 + -1 moreThis was a first rate experience. It was lovely to have someone pick up and drop off the computer at my house. He was very flexible when it came to pick up and drop off times. He was very courteous and provided service at a very reasonable price, He also added an application to my computer to help me in the future with file clean up at no additional charge. When he dropped off my computer, he made sure to turn it on and show me that it worked. He also explained why my computer was a little slow and made recommendations as to how to solve the issue. In summary, this was high value service.
Description of Work: The AC connector on my five years old laptop did not work. I would attempt to plug the cord it but there wouldn't be a connection. As such, the battery could not charge. I called Micro Geek and the laptop was picked up Sunday afternoon and it was returned to me on Wednesday morning. Not only was the AC connector fixed, but he also cleaned up the hard drive by removing cookies, temporary files, etc to help the computer be a little more responsive.

Description of Work: Firm is a one person operation. Owner serviced my HP computer by removing a substancial number of viruses causing slow computer performance. This resulted in rapid access to computer sites and personal satisfaction. .I have used this firm for several years and would recommend firm to anyone who sought peace of mind and what I consider reasonable prices. Their technician arrived promptly as scheduled, and was professional, courteous, and friendly throughout his stay in my home. He not only performed the upgrade I had requested but also installed the antivirus program itself at no additional charge. Moreover, he also clearly explained the memory and processing capabilities of my desktop and made useful observations on what I should consider in undertaking any further upgrades of my computer. He then ensured that my computer was running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. The service provided by The Micro Geek was outstanding. I enthusiastically recommend this provider to anyone needing computer servicing or repair, particularly where the need is on an emergency basis.

 + -1 moreI called the Micro Geek in the morning and Azad (owner) called right back. He mentioned that he had time and could be on the way. Once he arrived, it was discovered that the hard drive had not crashed but instead there was a virus that hid all my files. I was quoted a price. Once he started to work, it was discovered that the damage as more extensive and my hard drive needed to be reimaged and all my software reinstalled. A job that would normally take an hour or two ended up taking the whole day. Azad stuck to his price, reistalled all my software, installed a virus scanner, cleaned the computer, and fixed the printer. I was prepared to buy a new computer but my computer works like new. It run faster. I appreciate the responsiveness and professionalism this company offers. I also appreciate the on site service this company offers. I cannot replicate my home configuration if I took my computer to a shop and I would not have had my computer back in a day and I would have had to pay more. I highly recommend The MicorGeek for your hardware and software problems. The company professional on site services at a resonable price. I would use these services again.

Description of Work: We had two computers that were not working properly. Both had severe virus problems and one of the them, the desktop, would not even boot into Windows. In addition, they were both running slowly. We looked up computer repair stores that were open on Sunday and we could only find The Micro Geek. The owner, Azad, answered the phone and told us that he comes to people's homes to repair computers. We were a little concerned about having someone we did not know coming to our home to fix our computers not knowing his skills or if the price would be way above what has been our traditional method to fix computers, e.g. the computer store, but our concerns were soon gone. We called after 10:00 am on Sunday morning and Azad came as promised at noon. His professionalism, skills and courtesy were soon apparent. He went right to work on the computers. He was able to boot into windows using one of his many software tools. He removed the viruses from both computers. He took off a lot of programs that were causing both computers to run slowly and and he even downloaded a virus checker software so that we would not have problems in the future. He stayed at our home for 3.5 hours and he charged us $225.00. I have no doubt that we would have paid equal to or more if we took these computers to a computer store. And we would have to carry them and probably have to wait a week or more. After he left, we were working on our clean fast efficient virus-free computers. I highly recommend The MicorGeek if your computers are having difficulties. The pleasure, convenience and speed of having professional home service from The Mircro Geek cannot be beat. Finally, someone you can trust with your most beloved technical possession.

 + -1 moreI called on Friday, 7/2/11, and he came the very next day,Saturday morning. After running some tests he discovered that I had over 600 viruses on my computer! He asked if it would be alright for him to take my laptop back to his shop where he could scrub it clean. He told me he hoped to be able to bring it back to me on Monday morning but I thought since Monday was the 4th of July that he would deliver it later in the week. But that was not the case, he called me Monday morning and was at my home within the hour with my laptop working beautifully and much faster. I definitely will call him again if I have computer problems and I will also recommend him to my friends. Description of Work: 1. Performed several functions to make overall computer perform faster. 2. Primary work was to install Airport Express to enable wireless capability for our Mac and iPad. Azad Ali, the certified technician who came to the house, was on time, polite, articulate, friendly and efficient. A pleasure to work with. While we had only asked for the wireless installation, he asked if we wanted service to make the system work faster, which we accepted gladly. He also said that he could, if we contacted MicroGeek again, take further steps to update our system, as it is older. We will definitely use MicroGeek again.

 + -1 moreTo summarize my appreciation of the outstanding service I received from Mr. Ali , I would say this: I no longer have to worry about what to do if my computer needs services in the future. I know there is The Micro Geek I can contact to obtain timly and high quality service in my own home. Oh, by the way, Mr. Ali is highly knowledgeable and highly skilled. But he's not a 'weird geek'. He has been very friendly and patient with this 78-year-old senior citizen.
Description of Work: My computer started having problems last fall and it gradually got so serious that I could only do simple tasks. (keyboard did not work-with or without wire. I could only use on-screen keyboard.Other problems as well.) A friend, an IT expert, spent more than a dozen hours trying to help but failed. Fearful of identity theft, I did not want to take my computer to a store and leave it there for repairs. Then I turned to Angie's List and found The Micro Geek with an truly outstanding record. The Micro Geek's Mr. Ali promptly came to my home and spent 4 hours on the repairs. He not only fixed my computer to my satisfaction, but also taught me some related knowledge along the way. Later there was a problem (not Mr. Ali's fault.) and he was able to solve it by 'remote control'-using phone and the Internet along with me. No second visit needed.

Since the problem was solved quickly, Mr Ali ran various diagnostics and removed malware, spyware, temp files and cookies that were degrading the performance of the laptop. This was one of the most professional and pleasant experience with a service provider in a long long time, Will definitely use again for computer repairs.
