We used our Angie's List discount on the service. They wanted to charge $1800.00 to fix the whole system and we are not sure we even need it. If we get a gas insert fireplace, they are going to stick their own flues and it doesn't matter if the welding of ceramic venting is in perfect shape or not. They were fine. They were good. They were professional. They came in and left. They did very well. They said they would come up with an estimate and that was emailed to me within a day or two. They did good work and I would hire them again if we needed them. I don't know that we will because we are probably going to go for a gas insert. The estimate came back really high. They wanted $1800.00 to do some chimney work. They actually quoted $2100.00 and then they came back with $1800.00 like a special deal because we just had some work done. The flues are in segments and some of them are out of alignments. They were going to do some cementing inside so the gas wouldn't leak into the house. It was reasonable stuff, but it seemed a little bit pricey.
Description of Work: Priddy Clean Chimney Sweep cleaned the chimney in November 2010. They also gave estimates for doing repairs. We bought this house in October 2010.

I asked for an analysis of my chimney and that they do what is necessary for it to be up to standards. They took pictures of it and it was obvious it was rusty. Priddy Clean called and told me that I needed a Chase and a cap and I asked them if it needed anything else because I did not want any leakage from the chimney into the attic and they said they did not think so. Once they completed the job, my husband was up in the attic and you can see holes around the chimney so Priddy Clean did not caulk around it and just left the chaise and cap as is.

The company was able to schedule the work promptly (within 48 hours of my call), and although the crew was a couple of hours later than scheduled, they called me in advance to alert me to the fact that they would be late. The crew of 2 was efficient, polite and professional, and based on the performance of my fireplace, did an excellent job.

We had an absolutely awful experience with Priddy Clean Chimney Sweep that resulted in a major health hazard. We hired them to clean our two chimneys and at this time they recommended that we install sterling silver linings in both of our flues due to a fire hazard. Based on the information provided to us by this company, we decided to install a sterling silver tube in our downstairs chimney/flue. The company spent almost 10 hours installing the sterling silver tube on January 13. That evening, our boiler shut off and the radiators turned off. We had no heat. The next day we paid for an emergency visit by a plumber, who told us a carbon monoxide sensor in the boiler was triggered and recommended we contact Priddy Clean Chimney Sweep. It turns out that Priddy Clean Chimney Sweep was completely negligent in recommending the installation of a lining in our flue because they cut off the exhaust pipe of our boiler. As a result, we spent three days without heat in January due to our legitimate fear of carbon monoxide poisoning. When Priddy returned to fix the problem, they ended up hitting some pipe that flooded our basement (our tenants unit). There was about an inch of water in our tenant?s bedroom. They spent all day working on the issue and never found a solution. They just pulled out the silver lining and left. The problem was that our house is 115 years old and at one point was heated by coal, resulting in the boiler venting into the chimney flue. A competent chimney company would have checked to ensure that this was not the case before installing a sterling silver lining that created a serious hazard to our home and health. Even though Priddy Clean Chimney Sweep refunded most of our money, we still felt at a severe disadvantage after spending three days with no heat and paying for a plumber to come out. I would highly recommend not using this company. They created a dangerous situation that resulted in us being in fear for our health, our home, and wasted over 20 hours of our time.
Description of Work: Company cleaned our two chimneys and then negligently installed a sterling silver tube into one chimney that created a health and safety hazard.

Priddy was great. I called them to get a second quote, which was significantly less than the first quote I received. They arrived on time, and were able to complete the work very soon after I called them. The work looks great (thanks, Miguel!), and I'm very happy to finally have this work done on my home. I would definitely recommend them for quality work at a good price.

We had to reschedule twice before the job was completed. Once because the technician didn't show during the time span. When I called they were very apologetic and scheduled another time that was convenient for me. The second time was because of the weather (it was too windy). The third time was the charm. The technician arrived within the specified time frame. He was careful to cover the carpet to avoid soot getting on it. He inspected and cleaned the chimney. He was very professional and answered the questions that I had and appeared very knowledgeable. Overall, the experience was still excellent.

They project went okay. Overall, I am happy with the work they did. However, they almost forgot a major part of the project (to reparge the smoke chamber, which was cracked and broken). I had to call them back to come and finish the job. I felt like the crew could have finished the project sooner, as they left in the middle of the day once for a few hours. The salesman was very patient, trusting, knowledgeable and not pushy in any way. Ultimately the job they did is good, and I am confident in the work done, however the labor and workers could have conducted themselves a bit more professionally. They do deserve the praise and great grades they have earned on Angie's List.

The workers were prompt in arriving for work, very courteous and very careful about removing and replacing my mantle and objects. They worked in extreme cold and some snow and tried to finish the job as quickly as possible. The company did a followup call about the service. They left information about care of the fireplace and chimmey. I was very satisfied with their work and customer service.
Description of Work: The chimmey was inspected and it was determined a new lining was needed as well as a new cap and the damper was also replaced. The fireplace is at least 40 years old. This was my second estimate for the job and both estimates were close in cost. The company was prompt in returning my call and sending someone for an estimate. I got the name of this company from Angie's list.

It was a rtainy day and I thought I had made two appointments but neither of the companies showed up. I went to the phone book and called them. A very professional man came out and diagnosed the problem took the measure4ments and when they came to do the work they showed me a picture of the masonery so il dedcided to have the chimney repaiered. There was no protection on the top before so rain going down the chimney had turned it into crumblling pieces. That was what the furnace man told me when he said i needed a liner. They were trustworthy and reliable as I left them alone with access to the house as I had to go to work and they needed to do some instalations iln the fireplace to replace the old flu. I am happy with the service.
Description of Work: They gave me an estimate of my problem after my furnace comlpany told me not to turn on the furnace before getting the chimney lined dre to crumbling that landed on the vent to the furnace. They removed 6 dead birds and came the day I called them as they had a crew in the area.Oother companies never even showed up. They took measure menrts and found that the chimney was crumbling so i had them rebuild the chimney, line it and hook up the liner to the fireplace. They put iln a new vent at the tom of the chimney and replaced the brokes mettal protector on the top. It was about $5,000 maybe a little less.

We were pleased. They did a very thorough job on ducts that had not been cleaned for several years. In fact, they stayed a bit longer than they had intended to because the job entailed more work than they had imagined. However, they missed one prominent air duct (it is located in the first room you walk into when you enter our house). So, I called them a few days later, explaining that they did a nice job but that they forgot to clean this particular duct. The representative I spoke with told me that someone would come out and clean that duct when another technician was in the area yet they never contacted me again to do so. Not a huge problem, but it left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Even so, I'd use them again because they were courteous, professional, and effective (except for the one duct, of course).
Description of Work: They cleaned our air ducts, which were awfully dirty, partle due to the prior owner's two cats.

Positives about Piddy was the fair price, and helpful website. Negatives were the delays/missed appointments, and shoddy inspection. Piddy had to cancel my first appointment when, after the Thanksgiving holiday, there was a staffing error and not enough staff came to work. I rescheduled for the next weekend, when I had to wait 5 hours for a 10 min inspection -- the guys were two hours late for my second appt. The inspection was with a flashlight, not a camera, which made me question if it was thorough.

Very well. Priddy Clean scheduled us for work within 24 hours of the time that we called; a critical thing, because we received word from our immediate neighbors that they were beginning to have problems with urban wildlife falling into their homes through the chimney. Having dealt with this issue in other houses in which we've lived, we did not want to go through that again. On the day of our appointment, Andre and Raphael showed up and quickly got to work. They explained to us issues they found in our chimney (problems that we did not know existed), provided an estimate for repairs. They discovered that our flues were not of sufficient height to be able to install the caps properly, so they installed a flue extender. (Glad they happened to have one on the truck!) They finished their work quickly and left the job site clean (no easy feat when you are cleaning the chimney from the inside of the house, but manage to leave no resultant chimney dust.) Would definitely hire again, if necessary.
Description of Work: Priddy Clean cleaned our chimney, inspected for vulnerabilities, extended our separate chimney flues, and installed a rain/animal guard (chimney cap) for each flue.

Great - they were very professional and prompt. Bad weather caused the job to go on for a longer number of days then was estimated, but they always showed up on time and worked for as long as they could, until weather forced them to stop and resume the next day. I was totally pleased with them as a company and would use them again or recommend them.

They arrived on time and switched their schedule when I mentioned it was supposed to be a Saturday and Sunday job (they were going to finish on Monday - Columbus day). There was no mess at all. My only reservation is that I need to have them back to check why the furnace room smells of burning wood. The den downstairs no longer as any wood smells when we have a fire.

Description of Work: The cap on the furnace flue chimney had blown off. I called another firm who quoted a price $30.00 cheaper (Angie's List firm) but he was booked up for the next 2 weeks. I was leaving town in 5 days and wanted it done before I left. I called Priddy Clean and they said they could do the job the next day. It was worth the extra expense for fast service. Priddy came out for an estimate within a few hours of calling and gave a very fair quote that was less than other companies. They started the work on the weekend and because our chimney was heavily damaged, it took several days to fix. In the end, the brickwork was great and the chimney looks much better than I expected. The workers were very nice and the company was great to deal with. I would recommend them to anyone for chimney work and we will use them again in the future.

The positives: they showed up on-time, were very polite, and wiped their feet. The negatives: (What appeared to be) an oversized shop vac was used. I would have thought something with a real filtration system would be used. My house now has the faint odor of charcoal. Mmmmm...carcinogens. The cleaning process was quite concise. He just took a big brush and scrubbed up the chimney for about 20 minutes and spent a few more minutes shoving the vacuum hose up the chimney. I'm a bit surprised that's all the cleaning that's done. Maybe this is standard? I was shown a few tiny and fuzzy cell-phone pictures of my oil terra-cotta lined furnace flue and told that it was "deteriorating" and I needed a new liner immediately. He wasn't pushy, but it's mildly ridiculous that I'd spend ~$2000 (his quote) on a chimney liner based on such lousy evidence. I'm sure it does look bad. It's over 50 years old. But that doesn't mean it needs to be replaced now. This reminds me of how Jiffy Lube always tells you your air filter needs to be replaced. What's worse is that he walked on our slate roof, which is a BIG NONO because slate tiles are very fragile. After he came down I asked him if this was normal and he replied that he walked "very carefully" and "didn't see any cracked tiles". Each cracked tile costs me something like $40-50 to replace. He may have caused hundreds of dollars of damage that won't show up for months. In short, I'm rather displeased with the service I received. If I do indeed need a new liner, I'll be heavily inclined to use another company.

After gathering information about this exact job, I have spoke to the techs that were onsite. I am understanding that you didn't get upset until they informed you of the recommendations ( work needed to your chimney) after getting on you roof. You asked them to go on your roof, knowing you had slate roof. Slate roofs are more delicate then other but you ask our tech to go up there and he was very careful, when he came back down and had explained the work needed to you is when you started to show unhappiness. We were on time and did the cleaning like you asked, our guys are trained to go on the roof and do a full inspection or we wouldnt be doing our job. We are held responsible if something goes wrong. By law we have to let you know when repairs are needed, if you wish to not get the repairs done thats on you ,the homeowner. We did not pressure you or push you to get the repairs we just informed you that your 50 year old chimney needs work. Honestly, the probability of your clay liner needing replacing with a stainless steel pipe is about 7 -10 years prior to our service recently. We do want to make you happy, I am willing to send out another truck with a Video Scan Machine so you can see the damage on a screen on the spot with out getting on the roof. NO CHARGE! Please call Christina in office if you would like us to do that for you.

I knew my chimney needed to be cleaned because i could smell the soot. The sweeps from Priddy Clean did a great job. They cleaned the chimney, took great care to cover the area to protect the room from dirt or soot. In addition to cleaning the chimney, they also inspected the exterior. Although informing me that the chimney caps needed replacing, they did not try to pressure me to have this additional work performed. I greately appreciated this approach. When they left, the chimney was clean, the soot smell was gone and they made a slight but needed adjustment on the damper without charge. I will hire them again.
