Have used this company in the past and was very satisfied. This time arrived later than window predicted; did not call when on route. Did not present written report of what was done or what needed to be done. Was told that the chimney crown needed to be replaced but they had replaced it less thyan 4 years prior. Did not present photos of what damage was seen. When the office was called, they were very responsive and did honor warrenteed work done previously.

With all do Respect Mrs. We came to clean your chimney and wrote an invoice( If you lost your copy I will mail you one today) and our tech informed you that your crown was cracked. I, Christina (Manager) called you 7 mins after the Techs left and told you that the crown was cracked and we would REPLACE the crown at NO CHARGE, cause you were still under (5) WARRANTY. Crown was originally done December 14 2007. WE STAND BEHIND OUR WORK 110% AND REPLACED THE CROWN BY A MASONRY CREW IN LESS THEN 24hrs of discovering the problem. I AM SORRY YOU'RE STILL NOT HAPPY!!

I was very happy with them. The price was very good. They came on time, and did what they said they would do. I had got three estimates, and they beat the others by a considerable percentage. The people were nice. They were fine. I have asked them for some other things around the house.

We had Winstons come to do a chimney sweep. The crew alerted us to/showed us digital photos of loose bricks/crumbling mortar at the chimney line and on the crown, as well as cracks and misalignment in the terracotta chimney liner. Everyone, including us, also acknowledged the need to remove a 3-foot sapling that was growing from the rake and was causing displacement of bricks/mortar. We took bids from Winstons, American Chimney and Masonry and Priddy Clean (all from Angie's List). Each of the teams seemed to know their work, and their diagnoses were consistent and recommended actions generally the same. The recommended course of action was to: (1) remove the terra cotta liner and replace it w/ a stainless steel liner; (2) repair 10 courses of bricks in the chimney using as many of the old bricks as possible; (3) re-cement the chimney crown; (4) remove the sapling and repair the damaged bricks/mortar in the rake; (5) replace the 1940s era damper w/ a modern one. We were confident any of the three companies would have done a good job. Priddy came in w/ the lowest bid, so we went w/ them. Winstons' bid also included a proposal to build a gutter-like ridge along the roof-line directly above the rake, to prevent future rain runoff from causing erosion and creating the conditions for a repeat of the sapling situation. As part of the contract finalization w/ Priddy, the sales manager agreed to include the ridge project and tell the work team to do so. We didn't amend the contract, but I expected it wouldn't be a problem as it was a small part of the overall project. The team came out the next day to set up the saffolding. The following day it completed the liner work. The weekend passed and early the following week they completed the chimney, crown and rake work. That part of the project was completed in less than a week after we signed the contract. I called the sales manager to ask for digital photos of the chimney liner work and to remind him of the ridge. He told me Priddy only did digital photos if the customer asked for them before the work was completed. I would think such a photo would be standard operating procedure, but I let it go. On the ridge, he vaguely recollected agreeing to it - even though he had said he'd include it in the work order. He said he'd have to check w/ the work team and he'd get back to me. I had to call 2-3 times over the next couple of weeks to get follow through. He finally arranged to have a technician come out to look at what had to be done. When the technician came, I explained the need. He understood and said he'd draw up a plan. He then told me it would cost $800 to build a roof cricket, which sounded like a more extensive project than I had requested/needed. I explained the work was supposed to be a part of the original contract. We agreed that I would speak to the business office the next day. When I followed up the next day w/ the business manager, she stated that a roof cricket was beyond what the company was prepared to do as part of the original contract. I told her I wanted the situation addressed at the original contract cost, but made clear I didn't require something as extensive as what she described a roof cricket would be. After some more back/forth, she agreed to send a team out the next day to build a gutter-like ridge that would extend beyond the edge of the roof over the rake, so that any rainfall would fall clear of the rake -- what I had asked for originally. It took another 1 1/2 weeks and several emails to the business manager before a team came out and completed that last step. Overall assessment: Although the chimney liner and chimney crown work are not visible, I don't have any reason to think the work was not well done. The course work on the chimney and the gutter/ridge look good from ground level. I'd give an A on the work, but a C on the responsiveness/punctuality side. If I needed future chimney work, I'd probably ask for a bid from Priddy among others and decide then if we would hire them again.
Description of Work: Replaced chimney liner, replaced damper, rebuilt 10 course of chimney and cement crown, repaired rake, built rooftop rain diversion.
They arrived punctually for the inspection and gave me a detailed list of what they recommended be done, all of which made good sense, except they did not suggest getting the exterior chimneys waterproofed. I asked them to add that, based on suggestions by another contractor and reading about it on the internet. On the other hand, they recommended replacing the damaged bricks with new bricks, while the other contractor who inspected the chimneys did not recommend brick replacement but just patching the damaged bricks with cement, which did not seem as good an option to me. Priddy provided me with a revised estimate that included the waterproofing and also a discount off the total price. Their estimate was very good - about $450 less than the other one that I had obtained (which had not included brick replacement). They were very business-like and professional in discussing the different options and providing the revised estimate. After I approved it, they scheduled to do the work on a Friday, but when they arrived they realized they needed to get different bricks to match the ones on my chimneys, so they ended up coming back to do the whole job the next day. The work was done very efficiently and the resulting repair looks very nice (the bricks match well etc). There was no mess inside from the flue cleaning and they cleaned up well outside also. The job was all done within a day by two pleasant and professional workmen. Overall I was very pleased with the whole experience.
Description of Work: They inspected our two chimneys, cut out and replaced 15 bricks that had cracked and broken over the years due to frost, added new portland cement crowns to two chimneys, waterproofed the exterior brick, cleaned the flues and realigned a damper.

Very responsive. Did not require me to be at home for the estimate or the repair. Had one other estimate that was a bit cheaper but that would have only selectively replaced mortar and put a latex sealant on the existing crown. (In fact the waterproofing and latex crown on this competing estimate made up the majority of the cost.) The Priddy team did the work in one day and the roof and surrounding areas were left clean and the work appears to be well done. Probably not the cheapest but competitive and I would recommend them to someone who needs this type of work done.

Except for the paint problem the job was great. Nice people, good cleanup and timely arrival and completion.
Description of Work: relined fireplace and flu, new damper, rebuilt back all of fireplace, rebuilt approx 8 rows of brick and top of external chimney. Repainted exterior chimney with paint to match original paint. The only problem was that once the job was finished it was discovered that the exterior chimney had been painted with interior paint. Priddy has already agreed to return if there are problems with the paint.

The crew that came to my home is pictured in the Angie List description. Very very unethical. First they didn't show or call. They came the next day at a discount but the crew pictured used extreme scare tactics and said their lives were in danger in my home due to carbon monoxide and the falling terrcota in the flue. This was untrue as I had the carbon monoxide measured. They told me that my chimney needed to be rebulit and suggested I pay $4802. They had only been called to clean the flue. They followed up with a scare tactic call strangely soon after posted my review. Essentially telling me my house is in danger and I needed to act soon. Priddy Clean introduced me to the unsavory business practices of the chimney business. I did hire a chimney person well known for his quality and professionalism - Sergio - who dismissed that my chimney needed by be rebult 20 rows. I don't wish Priddy Clean's tactics on anyone. 5/12 This company's continued calls and scare tactics and level of communicating with the public is condescending. They have called me three times since I posted my review and they start the call with scare tactics. I find this to be harrassment and Angie's List should not allow companies to harrass reviewers. The response below is so patronizing. It is not that I needed work done on the chimney that was at issue, but rather the inflation of expense and extreme description of what needed to be done as well as the extraordinary manner of unprofessional communication by use of extreme scare tactics. The good news is I got the chimney work done at far less expense by a reputable company and several roof inspections have confirmed that my roof is solid as well as my chimney. I should add that I never told Sergio who gave me the other estimates. The Sergio whom I hired has had his business for years so I believe the characterization of vendetta below is less than factual.

Member, I am very sorry for your frustration. You did mention when you called in that you had blockage in your furnace liner, your home was built in 1940 ( Most houses over 50 years old need a liner - Due to the house settling and water penetration through the bricks - Loose mortar joints, damaged bricks and cracked crowns ( All of which were present in your chimney). You have several large trees over your house which increases moisture retention in masonry. (Your roof even contained discoloration and moss growth from this moisture - one does not have to be master mason to determine that you reside in an extremely damp environment and your home is going to be affected by that moisture at some point or another). Our lead chimney sweep gave you a detailed inspection on the date of service. Then you received a follow-up call from our office to get your email to send you a proposal with our internet coupon discount and explain and/or answer any questions you had. We did our best to explain what was going on with your chimney. Our technicians are knowledgeable and trained, they do not need to rely on petty scare tactics to sell a repair. If you as a consumer were frightened by the report, then that was a reflection of the condition of your chimney - It stands to reason that a blocked furnace flue will lead to carbon monoxide backdrafting into your home - and guess what, that is scary. That is not a fabrication, nor is it unethical. It is a fact. My sincere apologies, that Sergio, who had been terminated by Priddy Clean a week prior to our visit, had mislead you about what was actually going on with your chimney, because of his own personal vendetta against us.

Was looking for a quote to get a chimney fixed; they stated they would come out and provide an estimate. Never heard from them again....I would use again for a quote, but i'm not sure they would be reliable in providing one. *update* received a quote 2-3 weeks ago from Priddy Clean, they stated they would need to replace 60 layers of brick at a quote of around $7K. Asked them to just reflash chimney and seal, but they didn't want to assume the risk of the repair failing. Did not use them because I found a company who performed the work I requested at approx $900.

After having our boiler replaced, the chimney was not up to code and was causing the boiler to shut down. We were desperate to have the problem resolved before leaving town for a week for the holidays. We called Priddy Clean on Tuesday, 12/13 and received an appointment for an estimate on Friday, 12/16. They arrived on time and gave us an estimate on the spot (at over $1100 less than Winston's for the same exact work). When I explained to the estimator that we need the work completed quickly, he indicated that they were working on the weekends during the busy season. When I called to make the appointment, they gave me a SUNDAY appointment (imagine that, especially during the holidays!). They showed up on time and finished the work in about 8 hours. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves and were courteous and polite throughout the day.

I am just trying to get services that are paid for completed. Only about half of the work has been completed to our satisfaction; everytime it rains there is seeping water coming into my house through the chimney. From the very beginning they did shoddy work and created a worse problem than when it started. I have done everything from call every day to demanding to speak to the won owner; which I have. The owner has come out to the house and promised to fix the problem, which they have not done. They have only been back once and did not fix the problem. I also have written letters and they continually push us aside. I paid them in full for the work outlined in the estimate. They worked on two chimneys and did a good job on one but the pointing on the second chimney is unsatisfactory. I have had to have another company come out to stop the leaking. Finally the owner came out with what he said was his best mason and they are going to re-do a lot more pointing at their expense but they have never come back to do the work. They also used a different color of mortar on my house and I can't believe they did this. The workers were courteous but they just cannot do the work and I will not use them again in the future.

We called Priddy to inspect leakage into our attic around the base of the chimney (water running down the outside of the chimney into the attic). We were told the problem would be fixed by replacing the crown, which was cracked, and by remortaring all of the bricks (in the portion of the chimney outside). We scheduled the work and Priddy was a no-show for 2 consecutive appointments. We would have cancelled but they already took our deposit! They finally showed up to do the work and after the first hard rain, the leakage was just as bad as before we dropped a lot of money on their "repair" work. After multiple attempts to get them back out for an inspection (3 times), they finally showed up and tried to blame the leak on the roofer. They also watersealed the chimney outside and inside the attic, saying that the workers who did the chimney repair "must have forgotten to do that." They took video of what they said was the "roof problem" and promised to email me the video to share with my roofer. After 3 1/2 weeks, and about 4 follow-up calls I have yet to receive that video. In addition, after they watersealed the chimney on visit #2 and our first hard rain afterwards, the chimney is not leaking nearly as bad indicating that the problem was their failure to finish the job the first time, NOT the roofer anyway! I have never worked with such a nonresponsive company before and would highly recommend that you look elsewhere. This company is terrible and does shoddy work.

We called them on a Wednesday and they said they would be out on Friday between 11 and 1, and that they would not charge for the inspection (though they would charge for services, of course). They were about an hour late, and when we called, explained a prior job took longer, but we were next on the list. They took about an hour and a half to inspect the chimney area, chimney cap, inside in the fireplace area and around the chimney area, and told us there were no leaks, and the drips were not a concern as long as they remained occaional, intermittent drops. They took pictures of the chimney cap and then explained how it functioned and why in some rains there are occasional drips. They inspected the cap and area, took pictures, and found no water leaks. They concluded we do not have a problem, but that if we begin to hear significant dripping during rains, then we should call for service. And after that, they would accept no payment, and said there was no charge. Clearly, this was more than a general inspection, as they inspected both the fireplace and chimney area, and had to check for leaks. Their honesty in telling us we had no problems - and standing on the free inspection - says very much about them, and we will use them again.

This company must be falling apart! My story is the same as the last few posters. Scheduled an appt. No show. I call them and they have no record of my initial call even though I had the name of the person who had scheduled me. Reschedule. Half an hour AFTER the end of the time window of the rescheduled appt. I called and was told they were running late and would call me back to let me know when they would be at my house. No call. They did call back and leave a phone msg that night -- after dark so they couldn't have been planning to show up then. I didn't call back.

From my home inspection, I know the minimum repair work I need done, and wanted an overall check of the chimney and flues in the new house. After researching chimney sweeps/repair companies on Angie's List, I decided to give Priddy Clean a try. I scheduled a safety inspection with them for Friday, 1-3, and they took off $30 for being an Angie's List member. Awesome. Well, not awesome. I had a tight window, so I called at 2pm to find out if I would get a call when the inspector was on his way. At that time, I spoke to the gentleman who I assume is the supervisor, and was told I had a 1-3pm window and my inspector would be there in 20-30 minutes. At 2:50, I called to request an update on if the inspector was on his way, and was told by the woman who answered the phone that the inspector was "stuck at the job before yours" and we were now looking at a 3-5pm window. I asked to speak to the supervisor again, and he told me the earliest he could get anyone to me would be 45 minutes, but most likely it would be more than an hour. I informed the supervisor that I had decided to go with Priddy Clean because of their high marks on Angie's List and other similar sites, and was very surprised that no one had called me when it was apparent that the inspector would not make the promised window. And since the days are now getting dark early, I had visions of them showing up at almost 5 and not being able to do anything. Unacceptable. As my decision about replacing my boiler hinges on the cost of my chimney work, I need it done ASAP. I WILL NOT work with what I thought was a highly rated company when they do not even have the courtesy to let me know that they are running behind. I will be looking elsewhere for a dependable inspector.
