Pella Windows and Doors – KC Company Inc

We were happy with the service. They were neat, on time, and good to work with. We were able to do alot of negotiating; they wanted to make us happy yet at the same time be fair to themselves. I don’t have any complaints, and we love our windows.

It certainly seems embarassing to call a company to come help you close your window! But KC Company handled it all very professionally, from the initial phone call to the reminder phone call to the service visit itself. As it turned out, there was definitely a problem that required a trained professional to fix. The technician, Phillip Wendtland, took time to examine the problem, and then worked for over an hour to fix it to our (and his) satisfaction. Our only complaint would be that it took 3 weeks to get an appointment. However, it proved to be worth the wait, as we are very pleased with the service we received.

Their professionalism. They absolutely know what they are doing, flawless installation. If there was anything they had to make an adjustment for or do a little extra, they did not charge extra for. They came exactly when they were supposed to. They were perfectly clean.

I requested a quote in May. The customer service rep was really nice on the phone, and even offered to investigate to see if the window repair I needed would be covered. I asked her 3 times for what information I needed to gather, and when I got that to her, there was one more item that she had neglected to ask me for - this delayed processing the quote for two days because of the delay in email conversation & the fact that I could only collect information on the window after I got home from work, outside of normal business hours. One thing she didn't tell me was that getting the quote would take 7-10 business days(!). I received the quote in the mail (email that they say was sent was never received, nor re-sent after I called & left messages trying to find out where the quote was). But, the repair was deemed covered under warranty, and the labor cost was reasonable, so I accepted it. The quote said typical lead times are 4-5 weeks, but in my case the repair is currently scheduled for approx 7 weeks after the quote was accepted. All I can say is don't expect them to move quickly or return voicemail messages. I have only gotten a call back once. Responsiveness via email was typically a day or two, if at all. But they are factory authorized, so as long as you have the time & patience...I'll update after the work is completed.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish! Sales person Brian Anger was great; very personable and professional--took all the time necessary to explain my options. I wanted a Pella window style that I'd purchased for another home in the 1990s; Brian cautioned me that I had my eye on the top of the line, most expensive option and he readily showed me lower priced options. I appreciated that, but had my heart set on the mini blind inside-the-glass style. I was buying the windows on a Pella promotion; Brian went the extra step of calling to request the credit line be extended and this allowed me to do fully half of my windows in this first phase. Brian was completely equipped with a "mobile office" and I had computer printouts of my window purchase and my contract before he left. He even had a demonstration window in his car to show my how much the Designer Series had improved in 18 years! Brian doesn't do a hard sell and is sensitive to a customer's quirky desires. He had advised me that since I was doing only half the windows at a time, I might want to do complete rooms--But I wanted the instant "curb appeal" upgrade of doing 4 windows facing the street...and a non-contiguous one toward the back of the house where the conventional laminate blind was deteriorating. No problem! The price for the Designer Series slimshade window is pretty breathtaking, however it included lead paint abatement and pre-painting of the frame (a welcome feature that kept me from having to hire an additional contractor). Installation came EXACTLY 6 weeks after ordering, as promised. "Rigo" and his able crew arrived 30 mins. EARLIER than promised (how often does THAT happen with a contractor?!) and completed the lead paint abatement, extraction of the existing windows and installation of the 5 new ones in just a few hours. The crew was very clean, and as quiet as possible; they were respectful of my home and took great care to cover a wide area in plastic. Salesman Brian actually called while the crew was on-site to see how things were going. Upon completion, crew leader Rigo walked me through how to operate and clean the windows and left the name and number of a follow-up Project Coordinator if any problems arose. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new windows and will be paying the interest-free credit line off A.S.A.P. so that I can recharge it for my remaining 6 windows. Can't wait!

After move-in in October 2011 we decided to do a whole house replacement of windows and doors. We decided on Pella because of the options available. We were initially shocked at the price but after witnessing the install process it was a little more clear where the money goes! We have had KC replace 2/3rds of our windows/doors at this point and are very pleased. There were some rotted joists around a few of our sliding glass doors onto the deck that had improper flashing, this did incur an extra cost - about $600 per door but I'd rather pay that and have it done right - actually they wouldn't install the doors without fixing it which says something about their standards of quality. I was also happy that this 'glitch' did not delay the install, they were still able to get it all done in the two days they were scheduled to complete the job. We plan to have them back in a few months for the remaining windows and doors and have no reason to consider anyone else.

Next I interviewed the big three. Anderson, Marvin and Pella. By far the Pella representative, Mr. Jeff Dodge of KC Company, Inc. knew his stuff. We were impressed with the product and decided to hire them to replace the windows in out house in two stages. Front and side one year and back and other side the next. In both installs the KC Crew were a pleasure to work with. They arrived on time, took care to protect our home from damage while they were working and left the home clean when the left every night. Each job took about 4 days. Since installing these windows our home looks better. Is more comfortable to live in and our utilities bills are lower. All good. A few years after installing we noticed a leak in our kitchen ceiling. It only leaked when it rained from one direction. Not every rain. Hmm. Turns out the window flashing was somehow leaking. The KC Company field representative, Mr. Aaron Smith, looked it over and authorized a re-install of this window with all new flashing. Important to note this was not Pella/ KC supplied flashing in the first place. These guys do great work and stand behind it 100% More recently I needed to match the casings used by my original builder Cambridge Company LLC. They are out of biz but KC had replaced it when they installed. I e-mailed Mr. Aaron Smith of KC and he responded back with supplier, item number and contact details. Inside of 12 hrs. Superior windows and service.

We needed a total window rebuild instead of a window insert because the frame was dry rotting. They were excellent, from the showroom to the installation, it was great. They had recommendations on how to control cost. The crew was excellent, it was raining and they covered all the floors with tarps and clothes. They covered the furniture with plastic, and were very considerate. After each day,they cleaned up and it looked like they hadn't even been there, it was amazing. I would highly recommend them.

She was just abrupt. She was nasty on the phone, which is ridiculous because I was just trying to set up an appointment. I didn't think that they were treating me fairly as a customer.

From the beginning, the sales person, Stephen Meyer was wonderful. As the wife in the household, I had actually had other distributors refuse to speak with me without my husband present, KC company has no such sexism! Stephen was a no-pressure salesman who went in-depth about the specifics of his products trying to help me find the best fit for my home. He was readily available by cell phone and e-mail for my questions. I saw him multiple times at my home and at his showroom with questions. When it came time to sign, he carefully went over all the details of the contract and was respectful of my attention to the small-print. When Morty came to precisely measure my windows and to check for lead, both of us were surprised to find that there was lead paint in the sills. I was going to have to pay extra to have the replacement area secured so that lead dust would not spread throughout the house or the neighborhood. I wanted to protect everyone, so I agreed to this procedure which would cost me another $150 per opening. Rita Ballard was extremely helpful in scheduling our installation. She is an excellent point of communication--knowledgeable and effective in helping the customer. We were scheduled for the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The install team (including Sean, Garcia and Park) arrived early and worked late to install the windows in one day so that I would have an extra day to try to get the house together before my company came for Thanksgiving. They thoroughly cleaned the areas in and around my house. They even wiped down the windows with baby wipes! Sean demonstrated how to open the windows for cleaning. He opened and locked every one of the 24 windows they installed to demonstrate their functionality. They even helped me move large pieces of furniture back in place because my husband had had back surgery and couldn't move them. I greatly appreciated the care they showed to my home and my needs. After a month of getting used to my windows, I felt that there was a draft that came through the bottom sash of each window (This is why I gave quality a B rating). I phoned Rita and she had a representative come verify the drafts in the windows. He ordered winterization kits for each of my windows. When Rich McClung and Danny Lim (Install service team) came to install the kits, they worked with me to find the best way to install the kits so that the drafts would be blocked and I could still easily open and close the windows. After determining the best method, they quickly installed them, and even caulked around the window sills to prevent any air that might be leaking there. They noticed a scratch in the vinyl on one of my windows and ordered a new sash for me. Santos came and quickly installed the new sash. What I loved about working with KC Company is how they worked with me as an individual, making sure my personal needs were addressed throughout the process!

They were straight up, didn't try to sell us something we didn't want, and didn't try to sell us something they said was better than it is. Their product matches their sales description. The guys who came and installed the windows were clean, fast, professional, and creative. There was an unusual outside problem with the flashing and they put together a situation that looks nice and neat and is effective. We love the windows and they have helped the electric bills enormously.

We chose Pella after researching a number of other types of windows and window providers. The installation was done according to schedule, and the crew that was sent was very pleasant, efficient, and did a good job in cleaning up when they were done. There was a problem with one window that needed to be corrected, but the foreman pointed out the problem (which I probably wouldn't even have noticed) and got it taken care of. It's been a little over a year since the windows have been installed, and we have had no problems with them and are very happy with out choice.

They were very good and everything went smoothly. They were very professional.

They did an excellent job installing the door. It still works fine after all these years. I would use them again in the future.

This was a complex job due to header and electrical that had to be redone prior to install. Sales experience was good and sales and pre-construction check was coordinated to ensure everything would work. KC required me to have electrical done before they arrived which I did and did to spec. However, installers were terrible. The placement of the electrical (done according to their spec) was not far enough from opening and they wanted to re-engineer the install of the large 12 foot door to accomodate their schedule. I ended up stopping the job, waiting for supervisors etc. because I could not trust what the install supervisor was telling me (who had blantantly lied to me about a few things). All the electrical was moved and I had to pay the electrican to come back again and rehook everything up and we lived without power in the room for several days because of this. Additionally it turns out the door was not installed level and when I complained and another installer came to look at it it was discovered the door had not been leveled properly and the door had to be removed and reinstalled from scratch requiring me to do drywall repair and patching AGAIN. They finally got it right and in the end I have a BEAUTIFUL product but if I had not known better I would have ended up with a door that would have been compromised (and compromised the house) due to the terrible install job.

I would grade them an A. They were great.

They tore the old windows out and put new ones in. The only unfortunate part was it was during the summer so it was very hot. They were very courteous of our items and covered things up. Also did a great job cleaning up. They also came back to replace one of the windows that had a defect in it. They have been wonderful at coming out to fix any issue that we have.

They are a good company and had good windows the only thing is that I found better prices. They are very nice people. I am not getting more windows but I would consider them in the future if I need them.

I would recommend them and I don’t know about the price. They really did what they said they would do. The windows and the fiber bass windows are not the cheapest. The guys who did the installation did a terrific job. They did a fast work together. They insulated really well and they changed the whole unit including the framing. I was shocked as they did what they said. They estimated that they would have the windows in six weeks and they had it in six weeks. Then they came and put it on the day they said they would. I was shocked.

I had a problem and they resolved it shortly after they installed the patio door. But they did not tell me about the problem. I paid more because I thought they do a good job and stand by their product.

The windows were great, but the customer service was horrible. They were punctual for the job and I may use them in the future.

They were flexible for meeting times and they were very responsive. They were very well organized and answered all our questions. We chose one of the higher end products and it is not a place to go if you are budget limited. The kind of windows, doors, walls and roof were very important for the building we are investing in so we were shopping for deals. If the priority is to find a quality item with superior service, then this is the place. It's not the place if you are looking for builder grade. We would absolutely use them again.

The initial consultation was with a salesman who apparently made mistakes and left the company. Once this was resolved, the remaining interactions with the company were very professional. I am extremely pleased with the windows. The price is very steep but these windows are eligible for the tax deduction for energy efficiency. The difference in the temperature next to the window compared with my old windows is dramatic. I would recommend Pella windows for those who can afford them.

I had wanted to replace these two windows for years. The designer and installer came out to look at the job. When they came to install it they were professional, clean, and nice. However, it wasn't really what I wanted or anticipated. I called and a manager came and told me he would replace it. They came about a month later with a whole new window and could not have been nicer. They were on time, efficient, and easy to work with. The window looks magnificient!

Excellent! The salesman in the store was very professional, explained all the features, prepared estimate quickly. They were quite frank with the approximate times for someone to come to the house to do the final measuring and they called with potential dates for installation. The installers were very punctual and did a very thorough job, I was very impressed,as I had been concerned about installation of windows in December, but plastic was taped inside before the windows were removed so there wasn't much disruption at all. They did a great job and we are very pleased.
