Pella Windows and Doors – KC Company Inc

Do not buy pella windows or doors. I had $28,000 worth of Pella Designer windows installed 21 years ago. Over time, the seal between the glass panes has failed, allowing moisture to enter and cause the window sash to rot. I contacted Pella, but they state that the 20 year warranty expired last year, and they will not provide any relief or replacement. However, the damage occurred during the warranty period, but was invisible until this summer when a rotted window sash literally fell apart as shown in the picture. Through some internet searching, I found that the Pella Designer series windows has had a long history of this problems, and consequently Pella has discontinued the line. In spite of knowing that these windows were prone to seal failure and the potential damage, Pella did not take any steps to inform me of ways to inspect and perhaps take preventive measures to prevent the damage from occurring. These windows were improperly designed, and the pella falls way short of the image that they present on their website.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. We hired Pella to replace 27 windows and 3 doors in our historic home based on the promise they would be high quality historic replicas and they would follow lead safe practices due to the lead paint in the windows and doors. Pella instead contaminated our home with lead and botched the installation of its defective windows. Then they walked away and left us to clean up their mess and get new windows and doors because they would not stand behind their products or warranties. I cannot say enough bad things about this company and the many lies it told us - like they used their own employees, not subcontractors, to install the windows, they would follow lead safe practices, they would treat our home like their own. They created a toxic waste site in our home when they were done and the windows and doors are garbage.

We were satisfied. They were reliable.

In a few words: timely, responsive and top-notch professional service. The installed Pella product has performed magnificently through the first year's worth of weather as one would expect given their long-standing reputation. We did have one issue, but it turns out to be the primary reason I am on here writing such a positive review. Almost a year after our installation, we had a tremendous driving rainstorm which caused a pretty decent amount of water to leak inside our foyer from the large window above our entry door. Despite it being past 9 pm on a weekend night, our Pella rep answered my call and sprung into action for us. We had a crew onsite first thing Monday morning to assess damage and come up with a repair plan. The foreman took control of the situation and assumed full responsibility to get it ALL fixed. Later on, it was determined that installation was unlikely to be the cause of the leak. Some aged and cracked caulking that once sealed the flashing above the window was likely the culprit. Nonetheless, Pella and KC Company stood with us and never once wavered on getting everything repaired per our warranty. And it is now just about back to mint condition. These guys stand by their work no matter what! And that is so rare these days. I assure you I am a very picky consumer - and I highly recommend Pella / KC window Co. Great company, great workmanship, great service!

They were good. They were professional. They did a good job.

They did a good job and the doors look very nice. There is an issue remaining on the kitchen door that i need to talk to them about, but for the most part, they did well.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The salesman is the only reason I did not rate this company straight F's. We scheduled the install six weeks in advance, confirmed via telephone to a live person the day prior. The day of the install, when we were already inside the arrival window, the company called to tell us they were not coming because of a scheduling error. The initial rescheduling opportunity presented was their standard six weeks away. After elevating the situation to a manager, it was rescheduled for the next day (Saturday) with an initial compensation of $200. Due to daycare costs and taking off work, this company cost us $2,500. The next day, the installation team was late because they picked up the wrong material and service information at the warehouse, so they went to the wrong location. When they finally arrived, late, they had the correct hardware but no supporting paperwork. As a result, we were promised an invoice in the mail, which never arrived. Due to the company's errors, they also promised us a phone call the Monday after install, which, to this date, we never received. Instead, two weeks later we received a phone call from someone in their billing department calling to collect the remaining balance on our account. After we attempted to contact a supervisor every day for the next week, we ended up paying our remaining balance to simply be done with this horrific company after they threatened our account would be sent to a debt collection agency. In the end, after all the scheduling and administrative errors, their work was very, very poor. They left paint stains and one of the screens was ripped at install.

They have been excellent. Very responsive

The storm door was never installed properly. Its pretty easy to see that its not square to the door frame. When we tried to get it repaired initially, the customer service rep made my wife fill out forms and send in pictures, and then just sent us a new set of door closers to install ourselves. They said they wont come to the house even for warranty work or they would charge us for the visit. I decided to try this again and they finally agreed to come out and inspect the door. Parts were ordered and I was told it would be 24-48 hours but now, after two weeks of no contact from the company, they are telling me that it will be another week, so in total 3+ weeks to just receive the parts. Still nothing is fixed. I wonder where these parts are coming from if it really takes 3+ weeks to receive them...or maybe they were never ordered in the first place...I guess I will never know. I really expected more from a company that is supposed to have a good reputation. What a bad experience.

What I liked the most was when we had a problem with the siding and the windows not reacting correctly when it rained they came out and fixed the windows even though it may have been the siding guys mistake.

It took them a couple months, it was for installation of 78 windows and doors. It was great. The quality, the craftsman ship and quality to do the things how I liked it.

I enjoy the windows but the process was difficult. twice windows were mis-measured and the work had to be put off until the correct windows could be ordered. One of the bathroom windows was installed to far in eliminating a shelf that was there. Pella had to come out an move it back. The guy who installed the bathroom window initially was quite angry about the movement of the window and also when I said I was dissatisfied with some other work that was done. He expressed that he was doing me a favor to be doing the work. I have only one Anderson French door left and am not going to replace it, because of the aggravation I experienced.

It went ok. The measured one window incorrectly and had to reorder it. One of there screens was damaged and it took forever to get a new screen. The scheduling process is not consumer friendly. They just send you an email with a day and time without considering your schedule. You then have to call them to reschedule the appointment. Sound easy, but they NEVER pick up the phone when you call. You end up playing phone tag for days. The windows are great quality, the installation was done pretty well, but you have to pay attention to what their contractors are doing. They dented a piece of trim and proceeded to install it even though it was dented. I asked them to redo the work and got a dirty look from the installer.

Very good experience with Pella Windows from the sales through the installation, via K.C. & Co., Beltsville, MD. The sale was completely no pressure; the salesman (Nico) showed up on time and took the time to answer our questions and provide several different options/cost estimates based on our requests. The installation crew was top-notch, they worked very efficiently despite a rainy day and got all 10 windows, including a large bay window installed in one day. They made sure we understood how different finishes would look and offered suggestions for improvements. The project coordinator, Samantha, made sure the ordering and installation were on schedule and contacted us with reminders and progress updates. Good products and service. Would definitely recommend them.

We picked up information at the Dulles Home Show. Easy to make appt and received confirmation call ahead of time. Sale rep arrived on time. He was very thorough in explaining both their wood and fiberglass window options He did not have a sample of the fiberglass window with him. we were given a price for both options, but no itemized accounting so we have no idea what the original cost of the windows would be and then the price with the discount from the home show taken off. We were just given a number. There was an option for free install or 48 months of interest free financing, but had to decide by the end of March. My husband made a trip down to Tyson's Corner to see the fiberglass window---he was not impressed. We decided to pass on Pella.

They did the work there were some deficiencies, they corrected some of the deficiencies they promised to correct the rest. That promise was made in early December, they have stopped returning my emails and what have you so I'm gonna assume they're not gonna correct the rest of the deficiencies.

After tech said he had finished the job, I opened the screen door and it did not auto close completely. I pointed this out and he said it was fine and opened the door and slammed it shut. and said yes it is. I again opened the door and it did not auto shut. He then said I should just close it with my hand. The purpose of the visit was for him to make this repair so I did not have to use my hand I said the reason he was here was to repair so I did not have to use my hand on a door that is an auto close door. He then looked at me and said "I'm the tech and if I say it is fixed, iits fixed." and he added no disrespect to you Finally he went out to the truck to see if he had a new mechanism and stayed outside smoking and on phone for 20 minutes. He did come in with new part and did the repair properly The bill was for $50 more than it should have been, which I questioned and he changed Such a shame as it is a great door but I won't buy Pella again with this kind of service

They did a good job. They were very courteous and neat.

The process went very smoothly and exceptionally well. We had received prior estimates for the work to be done, but the sales consultant for Pella really took the time to make sure the measurements were done right. The previous estimates had all measured and assumed we had a standard size door (8' wide), but they took a more detailed look to find that we were actually 2" short of that. The consultant took the time to price out both having a custom door built/installed into the existing frame as well as doing the work to expand the extra 2" so we would now have a standard sized door (which was ultimately cheaper). He took the time to listen to our concerns from our existing door and made sure our new door wouldn't give us the same worries or problems down the road. In several cases, he helped us get what we really wanted out of our door and not just what we thought we wanted. He really helped figure out every place we could make choices to save us money without sacrificing the end product. The installation process went very smoothly. They took care to cover our furniture in the room with the door prior to starting work. They ensured that the inside wall was smooth and even, as well as making sure everything blended well on the outside. They showed us all of the details on the door after it was installed as well as how to care for it. Ultimately, they definitely delivered an amazing door.

Pella Windows, including KC Pella in Bethesda and Pella on Baltimore Ave in Beltsville, MD, did an outstanding job in all respects. We were going to buy one or two windows and ended up buying 22. The sales person was outstanding. The sent another person out to take the measurements after the sales person came out. They tailored the windows to our home. We told them we wanted their best team to come out and do the work. They got them scheduled and delivered on time. They came out and were right up front about the information regarding the project. The team was very efficient and thorough. They finished the work in two and a half days. They cleaned up after themselves. We thought there was a need for some minor touch up painting, and they sent an expert painter out at no charge to us to touch up the interior paint. Later on we had some questions about minor damage to a window from another painting company. They fixed that at no charge since it was under warranty. They also came out last winter to take care of a few places that needed minor touch up caulking. The windows were so effective that we had to get used to new thermostat settings. We have used less heat in the winter and less air in the summer. We are extremely happy with the service overall from the sales people, to the installation team, and everyone in between. I have no reservations giving them an outstanding A+ in all respects.

Everything went very well. They had a very good price for the service. It was a nice quality job and they encased the outside window because it was rotting. I am very pleased with the end result.Brett was the salesman and John was the head contractor. Brett showed up the day of the installation to make sure everything was okay, and John made sure everything ran perfectly and with a positive attitude.

Our experience with them was very good. We were very happy with them. They were just very professional. We had some problems with our previous windows that they fixed. The windows that were put by another company previously leaked and they did a good job on that. They no longer leak.

I am so excited with my new doors. KC Company came in well below all other companies and did a fantastic job. They quoted a delivery date but came in two and a half weeks earlier. The crew worked continuously for seven hours. They were so kind and polite.
