We have had a contract with Cropp Metcalfe for the last 30 years. They are very punctual, very courteous, and they seem to know what they are doing. Some techs are better than others. If we tell them we don't want someone to come out, they never send them again.

the work was done as contracted but it was expensive. I'd asked for a quote on a forced-air a/c system replacement & it was several dollars higher than a competitor.

They came when they said they were going to come. The technician was personable. He gave me a couple of recommendations. He was pretty famous. The price was a bit high.

I didn’t spend anything as I have a service contract with them. They seem to do a good job; they prioritize if one has a service contract with them that is good. Sometimes I have to remind them that I have a service contract but generally they are good and they show up. They care of stuff and they explain it to you and that’s a good thing when one doesn’t have their air conditioning. In terms of responsiveness during emergencies I would rate them high.

As part of the home inspection during our condo sale, we were asked to have the A/C serviced since the air coming out was not as cold as it should have been. Cropp Metcalfe was recommended by our realtor so we called them and they scheduled an appointment for within a day or two and the technician came right on time. He checked the air and determined we need to add freon to the system. Our A/C unit was on the roof and it was a hot day, but he was very nice about having to climb up through a ladder to the roof to service it. The price seemed fair to us and the air ran much colder afterward. We appreciated their service and are considering signing up with Cropp Metcalfe for HVAC contract for our new house.

The technicians I've dealt with have been very good. Their customer service lacks on the phone, but that's been the only bad thing. When I had one issue late at night, they had someone out within an hour. The technicians have little booties on their shoes to keep the house clean.

Kept worksite clean, arrived on time, finished job quickly. It went very well.

I used them 4 or 5 times. I had a maintenance service contract with them for my HVAC. The service was good but scheduling the service was challenging. I don't think I would not use them again because of their scheduling.

Their responsiveness was good; they called. I felt that it took them longer to do the inspection, and it still did not resolve my problem. I believe that they gave me incorrect information to try to get me to buy a new furnace. I would not use them again in the future.

Needed a Fall checkup so called the provider on the ac unit. Company called about 10 the morning of scheduled service to see if they could come early. I told them they could come at 1. Called them back at 2 to see what the deal was, dispatch said they were finishing a job then would be on their way. About 10 mins later a crop met calf van pulled into our condo complex. They pulled all the way to the end. I waited about 10 minutes then walked down there to find them sleeping. So I called the dispatcher told him what was going on, he didn't seem too surprised or give much of a response so I said you know what just go-ahead and cancel this and he said sure and hung up. Horrible service and a careless attitude about what is clearly a problem.

First visit in Oct 2010: $220.95 to diagnose and unclog pilot on furnace. One week later, the furnace wasn't working. They diagnosed a bad circuit board. No charge. End of Oct 2010, replaced the bad circuit board, $547.00. In June, the central air conditioning was leaking water through a vent into a 2nd floor bedroom. The technician spent a lot of time, first getting to the a/c unit, behind a boarded up section of the 3rd floor, and then: cleaned the condensation pump and wired a floating switch pump. There was a leak in the condensation tube, but we couldn't get to it, as it also was behind some walls. One of the best things about this visit was that he taught and showed me a lot about things I can do to maintain a healthy a/c system. I really appreciated that. He was here for a few hours, $329, plus: I purchased a Bronze policy for my a/c ($145) and a Bronze policy for the boiler and 2nd a/c ($220). This visit was $694, but now I won't be charged for 2 annual visits to check the 2 a/c's and furnace.

I would have prefered to have a discount since I am a member of Angie's List.

I was charged $120 for the furnace and $120 for the air conditioner. I felt that, they were acting in their best interest and not mine. I will not use their services in future.

Came for an estimate on our HVAC. Guy was two hours late. Our house was a two unit house, they charged us the base fee for both of them plus the hourly above it. The guy said that the HVAC was making a noise when it turned on. It was making only the slightest noise, and I really didn't think it needed to be fixed. Since we were being charged by the hour, I said, don't worry about it, he continued to mess around for 45 minutes, making it first worse, then fixing it, then charged us for the time. Highway robbery. If you let them, they'll take your money.

The technician arrived on time, assessed the drain, and cleared it in about 15 minutes--evidenced by placing a fast running hose pipe into the drain. It was the fastest, neatest drain clearing I had seen--and I have had many plumbers tackle that drain.

Cropp Metcalfe was the first company I called. I explained the symptoms and told them the compressor was on a 2nd story flat roof that could be accessed easily from a one story extension in the back of the house. On the phone Cropp was friendly, knowledgeable, and reasonable, so I gave them my credit card and told them to proceed. To their credit they were very fast in responding. I got a call back that day saying the technician couldn't access the roof and they'd have to return with two technicians and a 40 foot ladder, charging me an extra $400 fee for the ladder plus the labor for two technicians (one to hold the ladder) to do the work. I told them to hold off I'd look for other bids. I found another local contractor, whose single technician did the total job for $2495 with none of Cropp Metcalfe's two-technician-40-foot-ladder extra fee nonsense. I won't be calling Cropp Metcalfe again.

They are professional, pleasant, didn't push their services, informative and responsive.
