I was very disappointed. It was just a sales pitch. The deal, the gentleman came in. My house is 6 years old and he came in and told me that I needed to do waterproofing that ran somewhere in 5 figures so it might have been $10 - $15,000. I've since had someone come in who told me that the problem is I just need a drain put outside my house so that the water is not coming in under the glass doors. It was nothing more than a sales pitch. He wrote up this proposal and told me the price was good for 30 days. I was very disappointed. I would be worried about the ethics

I feel like I just paid $39 for a free estimate. About half the time the gentleman who visited us was trying to get my wife and I to sue the people who sold us the house in order to pay for AquaGuard services. The presumption that we wouldn't pay for the services on our own was only part of the insult there. The idea that we were interested in suing anyone was rude and uncalled for. The other half of the time he was, admittedly, very knowledgeable, informative, and educational. I learned a lot about hydro-static pressure from water, and how that can affect the structural integrity of a house. Unfortunately, it took us over two hours to go through what should have been 45 minutes to an hour presentation, and most of the time was not spent inspecting our problem and providing "comprehensive results and analysis of the inspection" as stated in the Angie's list deal. I'll reiterate that it seemed to me, that I could have received this estimate for no cost at all, but for some reason AquaGuard listed it on the Angie's List website for $39 as a "deal". It was a waste of money and the salesmen completely turned us off to using AquaGuard services. Unfortunately, my impression of the company is now that of a dishonest business.
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List deal. It was $39.00 for an in-depth foundation inspection, crawlspace inspection, home water leakage inspection, and drainage analysis used for creating a preventive water leakage plan Comprehensive results and analysis of inspection, including current foundation and drainage conditions Complete correction plan offering an all-inclusive repair price Deal also includes a sump pump inspection to make sure your system is operating efficiently

First the estimator didn't show up. Then they were so nice about it we gave them another chance. After taking a deposit, this work still hasn't been done despite the contract proposal and the salesman saying it would definitely get done in June. It is now August. The delay is holding up other work we need done in our basement.

The young man arrived at my home and we spoke about my concerns with the sump pump. My husband reported to me that it was making a sound that was different than usual. I escorted him to the basement to the pump. I turned and went back upstairs. In less than five minutes he was back upstairs and reported that he heard the pump turn on. At no time did he explain to me if it was or was not working properly. He then proceeded to go into a sales pitch offering me the opportunity to purchase a sump pump from his company for $2000. After I declined his offer he pitched a dehumidifier for $2500. After I declined that offer he stated I could go to Home Depot and get a sump pump for a couple hundred bucks. There was no inspection report provided to me nor any indication that he did anything at all. The pump in my basement is sealed and was still sealed after his "inspection". I prepaid for this service through Angie's List. Angie, I would really like a full refund.
Description of Work: He arrived on time. Went to sump pump location and shined a flashlight on it.

The company contacted promptly and technician came to the house and explained various options and we opted for one of the best in the industry sump pump and canada manufactured dehumidifier that gets mounted to the wall and sucks the moist air out thru tghe vent in the wall. They did all the duct work and installed clean. Been almost 2 years or more no complains and works like a charm.

COULD NOT FIND ANY UNWANTED WATER SOURCE IN THE BASEMENT. Sump pump is working, but is 24 years old, so recommended replacing it. I was not happy with the quality of air, so recommended EASY BREETHE. I looked up on Google, and read that EASY BREETHE does not make any difference, and so decided against it, I have home warranty that would replace MY SUMP PUMP, , if it does not function, so did not want to spend 1250.00 dollars on a Sump Pump.. I went for a second opinion. from another BASEMENT WATERPROOFING COMPANY, CALLED BASEMENT WATERPROOFING TECHNOLOGIES, which was for free, and was satisfied when they confirmed that the BASEMENT IS WATER PROOF, and their quote for a SUMP PUMP WAS 650.00 DOLLARS.JOE BUSCEMI FROM THIS COMPANY WAS EXTREMELY POLITE, AND EXPLAINED THE PROCESS THAT GAVE ME MY PEACE OF MIND.

As noted above, they have not contacted me. I have sought and received services from another provider (also found on Angie's List). It seems to me it is up to Aquaguard Waterproofing to contact me. I tried to contact them and left messages, but received no response. This is my first bad experience with an Angie's List provider. I think I should be reimbursed. This firm should not be on Angie's List. Very unprofessional.

I am getting another person to come back and check my basement just to make sure there is none around, because there is mold growing on the back walls so every time it rained water would get in, so they waterproofed. They were the highest priced of the companies I talked to. I had a top three and they were not even in my top although I loved them so much, but they were too high. I was basically going off pricing, but after talking to them and telling them what the other company was giving me they actually matched my pro price from one of the companies I was going to work with. They were really great in working with me as well. The representative as well as the gentleman who came out were both great. They gave me a better deal compared to what the others said they were going to do. They told me it was going to be two to three days, but they kept sending people to other assignments so I kept having to wait. It ended up being a longer period of time. But they did a great job. My interaction with them was awesome. The job was great so far; I have not noticed anything yet. The price I got from them was excellent. I actually talked them down this time, which I don't usually do. The quality of work was great. When I was working with the gentleman he was great but sometimes when I don't get him and I have to wait on customer service that is a problem. They are good with calling people back, but it is not right away. Sometime it is two to three days and I have to keep following up.

10-22-2015 When clients call us to their home it is usually to solve a basement issue. Sometimes they are upset at the news they receive because it was unexpected and a home that they recently purchased. Many time a problem that's inherited is more substantial than customers realize and they are confused as to how to correct it. High quality construction is not inexpensive and all of our work is judged by quality of craftsmanship. We are in the business of professionally correcting foundation issues, not telling people "what they may want to hear". If we gave a waterproofing recommendation because someone called us out to their home, that's a criticism we will take as we are a waterproofing company. We would be glad to offer any assistance moving forward. We also invite you to call the 30,000 plus homeowners and businesses that we have done work for to hear about their experience. This is our 25th Anniversary at AquaGuard and we still honor the warranty from the first job we did in 1990. AquaGuard Client Care Team

We had been having water come in one basement corner when there was were very hard rains that lasted a long time. Aquaquard was recommended to us by an Angie's List provider when I called on the telephone. The man who came to our house to survey the damaged wall came very fast after we called especially since we had many bad rain storms around the time this summer. He was efficient and knew what the problem was right away. He was friendly and told us what to expect if we decided to have Aquaguard perform the needed services. When team came to perform the services, they also were friendly, professional, and efficient. They did an excellent clean up job around the area they waterproofed. We waited until a bad rain storm came, which was recently, to see if there would be any water that came in. There was not. We were very pleased with the service we got and felt very comfortable both with the surveyor and the men who performed the actual waterproofing. We would definitely recommend Aquaguard again. If I had one little recommendation, it would be that there might be more people to man the phones. We had trouble reaching the company by telephone several times and left voice mails which were not promptly returned. But, we do recognize that this was a very busy time for the company with all the bad rains we had during that time period and that they were very busy.

It went poorly because our basement took in water AFTER having an additional sump pump and drainage system installed. The lack of responsiveness leaves us further frustrated. This should be an emergency appointment and as it stands now we are expected to wait w weeks for repair. I have an event scheduled to be held in my home in a week so it's unacceptable that this repair isn't being treated as an emergency appointment. UPDATE: 10/19/15 - I have called, texted and emailed pictures to Aqua Guard numerous times regarding damages incurred after their failed work to no avail. I've yet to receive a response to any of my communications. UPDATE: 10/21/15 - After leaving several messages for Nicole "the person who addresses damage claim" I contacted Jane to express my frustration and disappointment with the lack of responsiveness by Nicole. Jane (with Nicole in the background) informed me that he "boss" , Mr. Buchanan, wanted a supervisor to come out to look the basement. When I asked for what, Jane said "it's part of the process", a supervisor has more technical knowledge and experience than the technicians. I responded, "it's a little late for that since the work has already been done and everything is closed. If that was the case, the supervisor should've come out before the repair was made. Ultimately, Jane said she didn't know why the supervisor was coming out and "she was just doing what she was told to do". The appointment was scheduled for the following day and I took off work to meet with the supervisor. UPDATE: 10/22/15 - I took off work to meet with "the supervisor" , Rusty. He asked if I had any damages and I explained what happened and that we were only seeking restitution for the additional costs incurred resulting from the water that entered our basement AFTER replacing the drywall, installing new carpet, new padding and a new entertainment center. The expenses were for: removal of the wet padding, treatment for the wet carpet, uninstalls the entertainment center and the re-installation of everything. Rusty said he was confident that the assessment by the technician was accurate and he understood we were seeking to be made "whole" . He said "I know you're ready to get your basement back". Rusty also said he doesn't make the decision concerning the restitution, however, the company is "pretty good" about this kind of thing and we would submit his report right away, indicating we're looking to be made "whole". I said exactly and asked what should we expect concerning next steps and he said, someone should be getting back to us. I asked who would be making the decision so I'll know who to contact in the event I don't hear from anyone and he said the report would be submitted to Jack Buchanan. UPDATE: 10/28/15 - We waited for a follow-up from Aqua Guard on Friday (10/23), Saturday (10/24), and Monday (10/27). Needless to say, no one called. On Tuesday, October 27th at approximately 9:45 a.m., I called to speak to Jack Buchanan. I was told he wasn't available and I left my name and number, along with the reason for my call. The day passed with no returned phone call so I called again at approximately 4:45 pm. and was told Mr. Buchanan was out of the office and was expected to be in the following day. I again requested a return phone call. I called again today requesting to speak to Mr. Buchanan and was put on hold. Finally, Jane picked up the line and when I told her I was holding for Mr. Buchanan, she indicated the he was not in the office and I shouldn't have been put on hold. I again reiterated my frustration with how we have been given the run around throughout this process. I told Jane that I left several messages for Mr. Buchanan over the past two days and he has not returned my calls. Jane said "as a general rule, Mr. Buchanan doesn't return phone calls". (What does that say about his commitment to customer service?) Jane said she would relay this to Mr. Buchanan?s assistant, Nicole (who has never returned a phone call) and someone would be getting back to me. At approximately 3:25 pm, Nicole and Jane called my wife stating that were not able to reach me and asked if they could talk to her (I happened to be in a meeting at the time they called). My wife said sure and was told that Aqua Guard would not take responsibility for our personal property and this was stipulated in the contract. My wife replied that in this case, an exception was warranted given the circumstances. Further, she asked "the what was the purpose of sending the supervisor out, if not just to waste everyone's time?" Nicole replied "I can't answer that question". Nicole went on to say the Rusty wanted to cut into the drywall again to determine if the water was coming from the walls but I refused. (That's a flat out lie! At no time did Rusty state that he wanted to cut into the drywall, nor did he suggest it may be necessary. We had gone through that with the initial assessment and it was determined hat the water was not entering from the external walls). My wife said she was positive that didn't happen because I told her specifically what I discussed with Rusty. Nicole ended the conversation by saying "let them know if we see any water in the basement when we get home today". When my wife asked how we should proceed from here, she just replied, "if you see water in your basement, we will have to come back out and cut open your walls again". This has been the most frustrating experience imaginable. I do want to clarify that the technicians that came out were very professional and I have no complaints with the work they did. My dealing with Rusty was courteous and professional and I do not believe he told Nicole that he wanted to cut into the walls but I wouldn't allow it. On the other hand, I have felt throughout this process that the representatives in the office we've dealt with have been disingenuous and a true reflection of the leadership of this company. The general manager, Jack Buchanan, doesn't even have the decency to have a conversation with me after we've spent thousands of dollars and experienced great inconvenience resulting from the improper assessment made by their company. I WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH AQUA GUARD AGAIN. CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!!
Description of Work: Aquaguard installed an additional sump pump and drainage system in the basement. The salesman wasn't thorough in his assessment and the drainage system was installed only in the front perimeter of the basement. We later learned that the drainage system should've been installed in a T-formation throughout the area. After leaving the basement unfinished for 30 days to have time to assess how the new drainage system held up against rain, water came in through the same area as it did initially 2 weeks after we completely renovated the basement. Brand new carpet and padding were ruined along with damage to a new wall unit. The company did come out the next day to do an assessment and we were given an appointment for repair one week away only for the appointment to be canceled the day before it was scheduled. The message left for us is that we'll be reschedule for one week from the scheduled appointment. We are extremely frustrated and disappointed. It's been quite stressful to fully renovate a basement and have it back in the same state after the initial water damage after spending so much time and money to put the area back together into usable living space. Aquaguard has also yet to commit to reimbursing us for damages to the carpet, padding and new wall unit.

During the beginning of service the provider was responsive. Before the job the provider was very informative of what was included in my service and what I should expect happening the day of service. The providers were prompt the day of service and installed most of the equipment as discussed in a timely manner. However, I had to call the company because the drain was not installed as agreed, the pipe for the dry well was inadequately secured, and there were a few minor aesthetics to be resolved. In response, I contacted the company to completed the job and a contractor returned several days later. The contractor rectified this problem, but afterwards the sump pump didn't work. I called the company regarding the problem, but the pump was still not working. My basement flooded again and I had to resolve this problem. Therefore, I had to investigate why the pump wasn't working and found out that a part on the pump was not working. Now months later the company is returning to hopefully fix the pump.

Came to the house and did a quick inspection. It took like 10 minutes for him to look around. Really a deep inspection of the basement and foundation.... Then he began to talk about all the issues and how they could fix them. Most waterproofing companies do this, I understand. They are trying to sell you their services and products and try to convince you that you need it and they will give you the best service compared to competitors. The thing that irked me the most was the salesman was pushy when I said 'no' to his offer becuase it was very expensive and I could not pay that much. I was also on a tight schedule and had said so in the beginning. I had to be somewhere in an hour and I had talked to the person on the phone and explained that. But the salesman was upset I had to leave when I said 'no' and politely told him I had to get going. At that point is when he automatically lowered the price he originally qouted. Funny how those sales tactics work. When I again said no, he tried to give me an even lower price for part of the work and talked about financing. I said 'no thank you' and again said I had to get going. He then was visibly upset and tried to convince me to talk to him for 5 more minutes. I had gotten the information I needed and clearly he just wanted to make the sale but come on. I said 'no' three times and I was already not happy that they clearly try to gouge the customer for as much money as they can get, if you say 'no' the first time they'll go down, etc. SO this kind of car salesmanship bothers me and I know I"m not the only one. Just give me the best price right away. I have talked to numerous Waterproofing companies in the area and can tell you the ones that just give you their price straight away and don't PLAY these kinds of games. I'm not buying a car and it just feels like they are trying to cheat you out of your money or for as much money as they can. Be sure to do your research and assess if you really need a drain system and sump pump. There are other ways to fix the problem and if you find there is not, be sure to shop around for companies. They are a dime a dozen and some are just trying to sell their products and services for a lot more $$ than it's worth.
Description of Work: Came for a free inspection. Typical sales call. Only want to sell you something without really knowing if it is needed. And one of the most expensive companies in the DMV area other than Mid-Atlantic.

I have dealt with lots of service providers and never had an experience like this. I spent a lot of money with them - twice. and the second I had a problem, they were nowhere to be found. I will not recommend them and will never use them again.
Description of Work: They installed French drains for me and a sump pump. It worked for a long time. Then I had them update them. Then I started having flooding problems - the minute I had a problem, I was unable to get anything. They sent out three different men to look at the problem and they never came to fix it.

wanted to inspect by flashlight without going into crawlspace had to encourage to inspect up close - will admit had to remove stored items nonetheless he just wanted to see evidence of lime on inside cinder blocks of crawl space to then try and sell me 10 or 11 thousand dollars of service. inspection was just a set-up high pressure wanted me to spend hours seeing technical specs and what they had to sell. I had other things to do and thought I would have to punch this salesman or call the police to get him to leave house. became disrespectful of potential customer's time obviously paid on sales commission and not on salary to just inspect so I paid for value of small credit 300 dollars or so on 11,000 of service for which I will not proceed as not justified through the small slow occurring issues identified. would not do this approach again of paying for a small credit for otherwise free inspection to then receive high pressure time consuming - what would cause you to sign here? arrangement
Description of Work: paid through Angies List for inspection that would have been free off the street for credit that is only a few percent of the more than 10,000 dollar service recommended by guy who arrived to inspect

Response from Aquaguard Waterproofing
8-14-15 The world of construction and home improvement is filled with an abundance of information and resources for consumers. We do our best to help educated consumers receive this information in its proper context. When our clients look back at their choice to have AquaGuard Waterproofing "perform surgery" on their most important physical asset (their home), they take comfort knowing that their investment is already paying them back many times over. I'm sure that 25 years ago other companies existed and they may have had a very charming "salesman", as opposed to a nuts and bolts AquaGuard Inspector. The problem for a homeowner who selected such a firm is that they are 100% no longer in business. It is a fact that over 20 of our competitors have closed their doors for good since we've opened ours. Many Government and Military Agencies rely on our 24 hour emergency services to protect their properties year round. Realtors and property managers thorughout Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia are already in the know, that you call AquaGuard when it has to be done right the first time. We realize that such work is expensive, and we feel we offer very competitive pricing for the caliber of work provided. We will never lower the quality of our craftsmanship in the interest of lowering prices. AquaGuard Client Care Team
