It was an excellent experience. They gave me a price that seemed appropriate, and they showed up on time, and the worker they sent was prompt and efficient in every way. The carpet and the furniture were put back in the right order when the work was done. I have no reservations about recommending them at all.

I wasn?t overly impressed with them. I would never use them again.
Description of Work: I had paid for them to come in and do a check of the sump pump. They were supposed to replace the check valve, and they didn’t do that. He looked at mine and he said he had never seen one before like the valve I have, and I guess that’s why he didn’t switch it out.

They did a very good job. They cleaned everything out. They were very honest and upfront, and didn’t have me perform any services I didn’t need. I have used them before in the past. I highly recommend them.

They were able to get an estimator out to the house within two days. The estimator was friendly and knowlegable, and was able to explain to me what work needed to be done and how it would be done. Since it wasn't an urgent install, I was able to go on standby and save some money! Fortunately, they had an opening the very next week. The foreman and his crew were conscientious about putting down drop cloths, dust screens and covering items in the basement. The foreman explained what was going to be done each day, and let me know when it was going to be noisy, dusty, etc. They quickly discovered that they would not have to remove any of the drywall due to the way the floor was constructed, saving me some more money! While installing the sump pump, the dryer was moved and the foreman noticed a crack running down the center of the cinder blocks, along with some crumbling, indicating water damage. He offered to put a pin in the section at a reasonable cost, which I agreed to. This work was completed along with the other work so they did not have to return a third day. When they were finished, they swept, vacuumed, dusted and picked up every bit of debris, both in the basement and in the work area outside. Awesome workman, employees and craftmenship!
Description of Work: I have an end unit townhouse. They dug a trench in the basement floor around the three open sides and inserted river rock and drainage panels. They installed a new sump pump, and ran a new output line from the pump. They finished by re- cementing the open floor trench.

He was most polite and gracious accepted apology. He found problems with the sump pump installation and corrected them. The nasty smell is gone. The sump pump works
Description of Work: I responded to promo on Angie's list to have a sump pump checked . Our sump pump really stunk as in smelled badly . The appraisal was scheduled for about 2 weeks in the future and i forgot. The tech sat out front for about 10 minutes til i returned home.

What started out to be a good idea, didn't end up as so. Turns out they were twice as much as a competitor (who used to work for Aquaguard) to do exactly the same thing. Was given the ring around of "we'll get you an idle crew to save you $4k", (which after reading other reviews on here seems pretty standard for them. I was made to feel like he was doing me a really special favor.) Also, my card was charged for a deposit when the work hadn't even be scheduled to start... (i'm still waiting for my refund), and honestly felt quite pressured by them... to the point that I started to feel uncomfortable. Decided not to use this company.

My experience was fine. It was long and it took 2 hours. It was crazy, but the gentleman was courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. They were fine in that regard. The estimate was about $4100 to $4200. I would consider them for another quote.
Description of Work: I had an initial estimate done by Aquaguard Waterproofing in February. I was getting the water management system. It's normally called waterproofing and they don't really waterproof, but they rather manage the water that's in the ground.

Zeeker was the from Aquaguard came out to the house for the estimate. He was prompt and courteous. After 5 minutes of looking around the problem area Zeeker flashes the light on gutter that needs repair and says, "that is your problem". This guy could have taken me for hundreds of dollars but he was honest and fast. I will fix the gutter and if I do have any leaks, Aquaguard is the 1st place I'm calling.

We had a small puddle in one corner of our basement - cause unknown. The Aquaguard sales person arrived spent about an hour with us looking through the basement walls, tearing down insullation, and scaring us with stories about why our (almost brand new) foundation was poorly built and likely to give us huge problems. He then spent another hour explaining to us his proposal to stop the leak - which was to dig a trnech aroudn the perimeter of the whole basement, and install a complex drainage system. Cost: $25K. My husband pushed back - do we really need the whole perimeter? Sales guy drops estimate to $15K to do half of the basement. Then for an hour, pressures us to sign NOW, TODAY, and he'll give us a $4K discount. We declined, said we'd call him after we got a second opinion. Two days later, a sale person from another company came out and found, in 3 minutes, that the leak was coming from a $3 broken pipe fitting ... we had forgotten to shut off the valve to the outisde hose for the winter, and the water inside had frozen, and cracked the fitting. For someone who knew what they were looking for, it was easy to find, since evidently, the insulation there was all wet, and it was right above the puddle. I think the Aquaguard guy was either grossly incompetent, or trying to rip us off. RUN from these people.
Description of Work: They inspected our basement and provided detailed feedback on what they claimed to be the cause of our leak and an estimate for work.

Did not like the sales tactics being used. Asked multiple times if my wife would be present and could they move the appointment for the quote so she could be there. I feel this was a tactic I could say, "let me check with my wife" The original quote was almost double what 2 other companies quoted for the same work. During the appointment the sales guy alluded to the fact that they had some kind of comercial contracts in the area and would be able to share labor between them and some other stuff that I didn't understand or understand how this would make my quote cheaper. A week later after the original appointment I got a call saying that chief inspector wanted to come out and had more flexibility with the pricing and it would be well worth my time to meet with him and would result in a significant cost savings to me. After thinking about this, I decided that if they can't give me an honest quote on the first visit then I shouldn't do business with them, do you think they would have given me the better price if I had signed on the contract on the first visit, I doubt it.

Awful experience. First they told me they would install french drains and a dry well. They never got a permit from the county and were shut down for two months, leaving a gaping hole in my side yard that was dangerous. Once the permit was obtained they changed their plans and only put in the drains, which did not work. My driveway is wet for almost a week after a normal rain. I have called the worker, called the general manager, called multiple times. I have taken photos and mailed them in. Nothing gets done. I would never use them again. They are great at telling you what they will do, but nothing gets done.
Description of Work: I contracted for Aquaguard to extend my driveway ten feet. The major problem that I contracted with them was to install french drains and landscape my back and side yard to eliminate water ponding and flow, particularly down the driveway.

I was disappointed that they didn't keep the appointment. The service manager called me to apologize, and took the blame for the missed appointment. We hired another company. Updated 14-DEC-2010: another representative of the company called this evening, and re-iterated their apology. She indicated that the company terminated several of the sales representatives. While she could not confirm that they terminated the representative who stood us up, she noted that the company was aware of the situation and took steps to resolve it.
Description of Work: We made an appointment for an estimate. They called about 5 minutes prior to the appointed time, and indicated that they would not be there. At least they called.

Their man denied any significance of the wall crack altogether, proposed to seal a few badly finished holes in the wall left by various electric lines and to install a sump pump. I signed his contract proposal at the ?attractive? price of $2,050. The proposed contract was cancelled on the third business day following initial acceptance. However, it took more than 6 weeks and a fraudulent charge claim with the credit card bank to finally obtain a refund of the deposit.

I did the follow through with two of the references provided. Both were very positive. The third did not respond. I was concerned after obtaining reports from BBB and the Consumer Protection and requested another follow-up. This time I had my own witness. This person remeasued the basement and told me the previous estimate was invalid but if I signed the contract for $ 7,000.00 that day I could get that price. He then started to make a telephone call to someone and I told him I was not interested in games playing and asked that he not pretend to make a telephone call to a higher up. The week of 9/20/2010, I received a telephone call from a representative with whom I had spoken to previously and informed her that this person's behavior had resulted in my decision not to consder them to perform the work.
Description of Work: An appointment was made and the salesperson requested that another person of my selection be present during the process. Two other persons were present. After examining the basement, he presented an estimate of $12, 000.00 to waterproof the total basement including two new sump pumps and a backup battery pump which I was told was required to validate the warranty. He then indicated that the estimate would be reduced to $ 8000.00 if the work was completed within 30 days. He was informed that I would get other estimates and would check BBb and the Consumer Protection Agency. During this session he also made a telephone call to someone who he said was the supervisor who said he had nothing to do with scheduling. I was told that I might get a better price if an idle crew was available.

It continues to drag on with Aquaguard. We have sent a letter to the owner of the company hoping for a quick resolution.
Description of Work: Aquaguard waterproofed and put in a sump pump to correct water problems in our basement. After about 8 months we noticed numerous wet spots and cracking in the marine concrete they installed. After several weeks we got a rep to come to the house to agree that they were at fault and would make reapirs. We heard nothin after several weeks. Finally we called and spoke to a manager who assured us that he would get back to us within 24 hrs. We are still waiting. Would never recommend these guys. they DO NOT honor their warranty commitments in a professional or timely manner.

The work itself is fine, but the system does not work well. A month after the project was completed there were still the same leaks. I called them and asked them to come back and address the issue. They came and explained that the leak was probably coming from the brick walls. I had another company come and they stated that they should have told us the real problem was the walls and not the drains or sump pump system. Two other contractors have confirmed that I was sold system I did not need and that did not fix the problem. I had another company that came and repaired the walls and the leaks have stopped.

(04/08/2010) We signed a contract in the total amount of $7,993.00 on 03/14/10 with AquaGuard for waterproofing our basement, and made a $1,000 deposit by check. We also signed a Notice of Cancellation agreement that allowed us to cancel the contract and receive a full refund if we notified AquaGuard by midnight on 12/17/10 (3 days). We decided to go with another company and I called AquaGuard on 03/16/10. We spoke directly to the salesman who wrote the contract, and notified him we were canceling. After questioning me as to why, the salesman agreed to cancel the contract and issue a refund. I faxed the signed Notice of Cancellation to the number he gave me on 03/16/10. As of today, despite repeated phone calls, many of which were not returned, and promises that "the check is in the mail," no refund check has been received. This company is not dealing with us honestly. They are in breach of this contract. By the way, we had the same exact work done - with very good quality - that we contracted with AquaGuard for, for $4,600. It is worth getting multiple bids for this type of work. UPDATE (06/07/2010) As a follow up report AQUAGUARD WATERPROOFING did return our deposit after four weeks. However, our recommendation to put the deposit on a credit card still stands.
Description of Work: (04/08/2010) AquaGuard is failing to issue a refund on our deposit, despite promises that "the check's in the mail," and in violation of contract terms. When signing a contract with this company I would strongly recommend putting the deposit on a credit card, which gives you more rights and flexibility to get your money back - just in case. We mistakenly wrote a check, which they cashed during the 3-day waiting period we had to cancel the contract. We canceled the contract well within the 3-day period, faxed them their form (per their instructions) and now 21 days later, they have not sent the refund, despite telling us "the check's in the mail."

I began to experience seepage and mold. They provided a lifetime warranty, but have not actually sent anyone out to evaluate the issue. I've been trying to contact them to remediate the problem since last fall. I have left dozens of messages on an answering machine, and one verbal message with a receptionist. They made one appointment, but it got snowed out. He has not called me back since them. I just want someone who is knowledgeable in the trade to evaluate the problem, not just a repairperson.

This is the absolute worst experience I have had with anyone or any company for any type of work. After Aquaguard?s initial work there was heavy rain which revealed many of the cracks still leaking. Aquaguard came back a few days later to repair the cracks in the wall. Repair by covering with a heavy piece of plastic Aquaguard calls durashield (at Lowes the material is sold as fiberglass reinforced plastic panels). While attempting to force the durashield into a corner to cover one crack, the team leader stepped on and damaged a portion of the black plastic drain material (installed on the initial visit). The team leader had such a difficult time with this durashield he went outside to get a team member to assist. The only way to repair the damaged black plastic drain material was to remove the new concrete Aquaguard poured on their initial visit and replace a section of the black plastic. The team leader stated he would have to come back another day as he did not have the necessary equipment/materials to do such a repair. The fact the team leader was so reckless and damaged my property (mine because I had already made full payment) was very upsetting. I asked the team leader to stop work for the day as I needed to determine how I wanted to proceed. I also didn?t need him damaging anything else. By this time the durashield was partially installed in the corner held in place with concrete nails of some sort. The team leader tore down the durashield to take it with him but was kind enough to cut me a sample before he departed. One of the nails is still stuck in the wall. I also did a check of the area below the fireplace. The gray plastic was not properly connected to the black drain material which results in water draining onto the basement floor instead of down to the new corrugated pipe. I received this voicemail from Aquaguard after the team leader damaged the black plastic drain material. ?Yes Mr. Xxxxx, Xxxx Xxxx Aquaguard Waterproofing. My number is xxx-xxx-xxxx. Ah, calling about your problem. Ah, I know I sent Xxxx Xxxx out there to fix it and he tells me you wouldn?t let him. So we do have a problem with this. Give me a call?. Later on, a rep from Aquaguard came out to view their workmanship. He stated the work should have been done differently and the problems would be fixed. He also stated the team leader should have used a corner piece to install the durashield. I later received from Aquaguard and submitted back to them, a customer survey describing their poor workmanship. I later received an email from Aquaguard advising the only thing they agree to is that I stopped the team leader from working. Aquaguard also advised (for the first time) I had severe structural damage (cracks). . Aquaguard did offer to come back and repair the cracks only. But, I postponed this as i needed to have the severe structural damage inspected. I had a county inspector come out to look at the cracks in the basement wall. The cracks are normal. I later received a call from a different team leader who wanted to come by and look at/repair their workmanship. I stated I needed a couple of weeks for an additional county inspection. I called back later, no response. I almost forgot to mention. The original team leader told me he had 30 years experience.
Description of Work: On the initial visit Aquaguard replaced an existing sump pump and installed a 2nd sump pump. Aquaguard installed a sub floor relief system which consisted of removing the existing concrete around the basement perimeter walls and replacing the existing corrugated drain pipe. Prior to covering the new corrugated drain pipe with concrete, a black plastic drain material was installed around the perimeter of the basement and against the walls to help drain water from cracks in the basement wall down to the corrugated pipe. In the area below the fireplace the same corrugated pipe was not installed. Instead a gray piece of plastic was placed on top of the existing concrete and held in place with a caulking type material. The gray plastic was to be connected to the black plastic to help direct water from cracks to the corrugated pipe. To repair cracks in the walls Aquaguard installed hydraulic cement. Part of the floor near plumbing was not treated with the new corrugated pipe or the gray plastic. The team leader stated this type of area is not treated.

The sales rep was really patronizing and smug. His sales approach was long, repetitive, and fairly aggressive. He ripped into his competitors and used scare tactics that implied my house would collapse if I didn't fix the problem immediately with his wonder sump pump. I couldn't really pin him down on a price either. He gave me one price based on the books that was around $8,000, and then another one that was off the record if I signed up right then and there for $4,000. This was a red flag for me. Although my basement had never/never flooded, and I kept telling him that the gutters had not been cleaned for 5 years, he really didn't seem to care. He said I needed a channel dug around all four walls of my basement, even though my house is a duplex and is on a hill. Half of the basement walls aren't even in contact with dirt. He couldn't explain how his sump pump system would be effective if my neighbor in the duplex didn't do the exact same thing, nor could he clarify exactly what that sump pump would pump if most of my basement doesn't get wet -- EVER. What was most annoying, however, was that he came to my house with a plan on how to fix my basement without even looking at my basement. He didn't even look at the drainage from the gutters or surrounding landscaping or propose other options. When he finally saw my basement, he just went on with his preplanned pitch. I could tell that he had outlines of basements already drawn in his notebook for his pitch, ready to go. Like the report from May 12, 2009, I found their representative to be fairly sexist. I didn't like how the man who dealt with me on the phone assumed I was married if I owned a home and needed it repaired, and I did not think it was any of his business if my theoretical husband would be at home during the consultation. I also was also not amused that the sales rep saw fit to draw little trees and birds on his picture when trying to explain how water flows in the ground.
Description of Work: Although my basement has never flooded, I noticed that some mold was growing in my basement and wanted to explore options on how to waterproof it before I renovated the basement.

We are required to have both parties of a residence on hand to fulfill the financing and contractual needs due to the law. This is the reason for both parties to be available at the presentation of the sales rep. This is not sexist, it is for the protection of both parties involved. We are sorry if we seem sexist or the manager was not clear on the phone but we are required to follow the Federal and State laws. John E. Buchanan, CPA, GM, Owner
