Restoring the worksite to its pre-work condition was not as good or complete as I would have hoped. (many small rocks and pebbles left lying around). In addition, drainage trench into back yard was not made as smooth as it could have been). Overall they did a professional job.

We have a walk out basement so only one wall is completely below ground. On the below ground wall, we had a water spot that developed after a big storm. The person they sent asked to cut the wall and look behind it. After he cut the wall, he discovered termites in the wall so he recommended we call a company to address that. Ok, no problem. He walked all around the basement and examined the foundation and never found the source of the water but then tried to tell us we would need a French drain system and tear up areas of our finished basement at a cost of $10 to 20k. I never got the detailed assessment that I paid for. Again, he never figured out the source of the water! It could be a repair job, but clearly they are not interested in that. He said we should call him back after we address the termites. For what?!? I want my money back!
Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for an assessment of the foundation for water leaks.

7-28-2014 We would like to extend our thanks for the feedback you provided. We are sorry to hear that offense was taken to our pointing out the termite issue. Correcting this type of problem can factor into the work we perform, especially when it's time for refinishing. The cause of the water seepage is hydrostatic pressure, which is why we recommended installing a drain tile system. It would be our pleasure to do anything we can to further help you moving forward. The appointment was scheduled promptly and conveniently after we bought the deal through Angie's list. The estimator arrived on time. He went through our basement and yard thoroughly. He presented us with a plan which involved digging down next to our foundation, applying a latex barrier and shingles, installing drainage materials that would lead to an outdoor sump pump which would also need to be installed. This would involve removing our back deck, air conditioning unit, plantings, and our the floor of our front porch. The estimate was between 24,000- 25,000 dollars. He pressured us to make a decision that night by saying that he would take a percentage off the price if we signed a contract that evening. I read reviews on Angie's List that said the company sometimes contracted out work that wasn't well supervised. We were somewhat sorry that we paid for an estimate because several other companies have done their estimate of work for free. We felt like we paid for a sales pitch that was directed towards doing the most work possible. We decided to go with another company.

$49.00 coupon was purchased for an in-depth foundation inspection, crawlspace inspection, home water leakage inspection and drainage analysis used for creating a preventive water leakage plan. Plan was purchased because of water coming into home from more than one location. Spoke to Michelle Brent and Steve Washington. I was advised that company doesn't usually do this type of work on a two-level home plus wouldn't be available for weeks. I need work performed now so I requested a refund which they agreed to.

It was a Big Deal purchase. I just paid for the price of the deal. They were very friendly and patient. I felt like they were thorough in their evaluation and I think they had great customer service. The quote was a little expensive. I wouldn't probably use them again because of their pricing. I would try to find somebody who could do it for less.
Description of Work: They came and looked at our basement to see if it was waterproofed. We had a leak and we we're trying to see where it was coming from. They told us how much it would cost to seal the basement so that the water wouldn't get in anymore.

Well, the wonderful customer service began once I spoke with John Bryant. John sensed my angst and frustration since I had to pay for a portion of my hardwood floors to be removed to investigate the water damage. John was courteous, listened and was not a "salesperson" but instead wanted to help me get to the bottom of the issue. Although Aquaguard Waterproofing mainly services below the ground foundations, John scheduled Rick to come to my home within two days to check the situation out. Rick arrived at my home on time and with the same disposition as John --- friendly, patient and thoughtful about my situation. Rick patiently let me explain the scenario and then quickly began to investigate where the water damage was coming from. Rick asked all the right questions which demonstrates his expertise and knowledge about what he is doing. He quickly found the problem and although Aquaguard could not help --- immediately called a reputable plumbing service provider to help me schedule an appointment. I can't Thank both John and Rick enough for their support, expertise and dedication to helping me solve my problem. Should any of my friends or colleagues need waterproofing services/support, I will definitely refer them to Aquaguard Waterproofing !!!

Glad to hear we helped this member with her problem. She called many companies, but could not find any help. After hearing her frustration we reviewed the problem and set up an appointment. It was a very minor plumbing leak which was masked by the flooring. Little acts of kindness can go a long way in our industry and we are happy to hear the member was satisfied. So many people are quick to point out the problems, but its always refreshing to hear the many positives we all do in this industry. Thank you John Bryant General Manager

The first inspection was very informative and educational. The inspector worked with me on the price and on a process that would do minimal disruption of the finished areas of the basement. They did not remove baseboards or cut into any drywall at all. I researched various processes that are advertised to address my problem of water seeping in through the concrete brick wall from an area under my garage - waterproof paint seals, corner drains, etc. While other approaches may have solved the immediate water problem, I could see ways that they might weaken the foundation in the long run. I believe that the method used by Aquaguard provided the safest and best way to ensure that my home would last without further repairs for a very long time. The team moved some furniture I couldn't move myself and dug up about a foot of the concrete along the wall. They put in a new drain system and connected it to the sump pump which they replaced as well. They carefully drilled holes in the concrete wall to provide a way for the existing water buildup to safely release into the drain. I would come down every so often and they would patiently educate me on their process which I appreciated. I was very impressed with the care they took with my furniture and things. They covered everything and put up plastic hanging walls to protect other parts of the basement. After they were done and had laid the new cement flooring, they put the carpet back and moved the furniture back as closely as possible while still allowing the cement to cure. They cleaned everything up beautifully. I hope to never need them again, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to call them!
Description of Work: I purchased the $49.00 inspection Big Deal through Angie's list. The inspector was timely and professional, as well as very knowledgeable. I subsequently had them build a drainage system in the basement and replace the sump pump as well. That crew was quick, professional, and very helpful and thoughtful as well.

Called to request an estimate for repairs to a basement that flooded in one corner. Aquaguard's reps couldn't seem to agree on what time they would arrive. First it was 6-8 pm, then they called to reschedule for 8:00-9:30pm. When asked if another day would work, the phone representative was pushy and insisted on sending someone late on a Monday night. Ultimately, the representative arrived at about 6:45pm after we had agreed on the later arrival time. He claimed to notice a "musty" smell in the basement which seemed to simply be a sales tactic, since no one has ever noticed a smell like this before (the basement actually has good air circulation). He looked around the basement and the exterior of the house, and after about 15 minutes said he wanted to "present findings." Although he gave his general impression of the problem, he wouldn't give his presentation or a quote since he was only talking to me. He insisted that my husband also had to be present, and wouldn't provide the information to me alone or send it via email. (Even more strange since I had been the only one dealing with Aquaguard up to this point, having called to set up the initial appointment, explain the issue, etc.) My husband was busy with our son (having readjusted schedules to meet with him after 8pm as agreed on the phone). I am not sure if this company would have behaved the same way if my husband had been present instead of me, but it felt like they didn't trust a woman to make decisions or enter into contracts regarding her own home. The representative suggested I call to reschedule for a time when both my husband and I could hear his spiel, but we will not be inviting them back to hear their estimate or using their services now or in the future.
Description of Work: We requested a quote from Aquaguard for repairs to a basement that flooded once in one area after recent heavy rains. The work was not performed because they refused to give a quote without both husband and wife present.

We do not agree with the members comments, there is more to the story than what was listed on this review. Due to the heavy rains this region has experienced over the last few months - emergency flooding, we have been trying to maximize our inspectors time by having all owners present so we would not have to make second and third trips to the same house. The member was very uncooperative and demanded immediate service and wanted to jump the schedule in front of everyone else who contacted us. We tried to work with them, but that was not enough. We try to pick our battles, but in this situation we could not win for trying. We will talk with our staff about this review and try to work on our communication to customers. As is always the case, there are two sides to every story. Thanks again for your comments John Bryant General Manager

Tried to sell us major waterproofing project, starting out with a $75,000 quote, and then mentioning a much cheaper project, only $25,000, which is probably about 4 times what other companies charge. I have had other people look at my situation and none of them have indicated that I need a major construction effort. The Aquaguard rep, although a nic enough individual, was obviously a salesman trying to sell something with his presentation with scare tactics, charts, figures and proposed draft contracts. I hope other people have had a better experience than I had with this company.

They did a good job and gave me a comprehensive quote on different services. I landed up having some really substantial issues with my house so I couldn't obviously do everything all at once. They divided the services into what was immediate and long-term; they were great about that. I ended up having more plumbing work afterwards and I found out that they were a little on the high side. They were efficient with scheduling and coming out within the window time. I would definitely have them come out for another quote.

Mr. Roberts was very professional, courteous and punctual. He gave my Mother and I a sense of comfort in his knowledge of identifying issues/problems related to water damage and how to correct it. He did a thorough inspection of the whole basement, covering ever corner and walking the lenght of every wall. He inspected the two sump pumps for operation and informed us one had become disconnected. He inspected the outside walls and foundation of house and provided a detailed analysis of the problems and a plan of action to correct the issues within my Mother's home. We knew the work required would be costly and feel that we were given a fare deal to fix and stop further water from damaging the home. We have signed a contract for further work to be performed and look forward to doing business with AquaGuard.

AquaGuard installed a French drain in our basement to the tune of close to $8k. Since the installation the same place has flooded now 3 times, the sump pump has power and never turns on. Add in the cost of calling ServePro to vacuum the water and dry our basement we have exceeded a $10k investment. They are awful. I live in multilevel, contempory house. The house is just over 20 years old and I noticed some signs of settling (nothing really significant). The goal was to get some peace of mind with the foundation inspection. After the inspection, I was notified of a significant foundation issue with my rear foundation wall...that needed to be addressed ASAP. As a concerned homeowner, I agreed to the work and it was completed within 3 weeks. I don't know much about reparging, but the work appeared to be done well (worth an A). Unfortunately, I'm still not sure if I really needed it. I did had some cracks on my wall, which was made from cinder blocks. There was not much (if any) cracking on the actual foundation, and I don't have a basement that water may seep into. I know that foundation problems can be very serious, so I didn't choose to challege anything and trust that the experts know their job. I would say their work is an A because it looked professional, and the workers keep the space neat and clean. I do have some peace of mind that I probably won't have future issue in that area. The only reason I gave them a B was because I feel like I MAY have gotten pressure to purchase something that I didn't really need (at least as much as I was lead to believe). I could be wrong. I just recommend you do your research before signing anything...get multiple opinions.

On this replacement I, upon their allegedly professional advice, upgraded the sump pump to a heavier duty model, paying only the difference between what I had paid for the first pump (that failed in the flood) because that original one which had failed within a year of installation, was still under warrantee. This heavier duty model with battery back-up ( a model which should not have been sold to me because of technical issues had to be paid for before the install). When the installing technician found it would not work, I had to go back to a replacement like the one that failed in the flood, which was done, covered under the warrantee. Meanwhile I was out several hundred dollars that had to be prepaid for the upgraded model and it took numerous calls?.including to the company president, before the refund was effected. Never got a response from the president; had to keep bugging other staff. I seem to recall all this took about 2 months because of some excuse about account management, standing policy on refunds etc at Aquaguard?s end. In short, they got free use of our money for over two months. I would not use them again. I was not impressed when the technician installing the upgraded model failed, upon arrival, to note what in retrospect he should have noted was technical issues that prevented installation. He installed the whole thing first and then noted it would not work properly because of the technical issues. I then had to have him obtain and install a duplicate to the one he had installed before the flood. Technicians were always polite and on-time (scheduling was relatively easy) but that was about the only positive about the whole experience. Sales staff seemed to lack adequate product knowledge (though I was allegedly dealing with 2 sales managers).
Description of Work: Work consisted of a sump pump they installed around March 2011 (to replace the original one in the home) that failed in a flood and had to be replaced again circa Oct. 2011. Seemed overly expensive. Think basic pump was around $500 (perhaps more); the upgrade one with battery b/up was around $1200.

Had purchased Big Deal to tune up sump pump but when he tried to test it, we found it was not working. The technician provided estimate to replace the pump. Had no point of reference on pricing since had not expected to replace but seemed reasonable. He had one on the truck so I did go ahead and have them install a new one. They had said they would call back in a year to perform the tune up on the new unit but that did not happen. That is only reason I did not give them an "A" rating. I would like to add the pump has worked great for the past two years and I would use this company again if I had a problem.

After purchasing this Big Deal, I discovered there was another deal from the same provider for only $10 more but with double the coupon/savings offer should any work be performed. I felt as though I had been scammed. I wasn't sure who to blame, Angie's List, or the service provider. I have contacted and am requesting a refund through Angie's List. If you are going to offer a Big Deal of almost identical value then you should advertise that when comsumer's make their purchase. In other words, if the service provider plans on starting a new Big Deal within days of the old one expiring then they should automatically offer an upgrade to the customer. Such as, "for only $10 more we can provide you with x, y, or z." Or, "just so you know, we are starting a new Big Deal in the next few days, and if you'd like we can upgrade you to the new Big Deal".It would make the consumer not feel so taken advantage of, or that the service provider is simply offering a deal to make a buck. Of course businessess are in business to make money, but there are certain ways to go about doing that without slighting the consumers. I will be making a new Big Deal purchase once my refund has been completed. Disappointed for now, K.P.
