Description of Work: Company was able to arrange installation for me for my rental property. This arrangement was handled out of state via credit card and required working with tenants to arrange access. Installation went pretty flawlessly and I am very much pleased with results. Would definitely work with them again.

Sometimes adding a third party to the project (owner, property manager, tenant) can make the communication more difficult, but we've been doing this a while now and it tends to work out. We also offer range of products so we have the right option for a landlord which might be different than the right option for someone else. Here's a good one to use to offer a little insight. Our typical lead time for custom made products like these is 4-6 weeks from when the customer places the order with us until the project is complete. Some very specific and very custom products can take longer, but 4-6 weeks is pretty typical. This customer placed her order with us on July 30th, the final measurements took place at her request on August 6th and the windows are scheduled to arrive next week. Depending on the weather next week and the customer’s availability we’ll probably end up in the 5-6 week range with this project. There are a lot of moving parts with a project like this, some of which are out of our control, but our lead times are relatively consistent. As always, we’re here to answer any questions and for folks who are in a rush we do have options that can help to speed things along. Description of Work: I purchased a deal for replacement windows (order# 188058 on 11/28/11) for our daughter. Before purchasing the deal, I called the company (Window Universe) to make sure that they would work in Ocean City, MD (where my daughter's condo is). I was told that the coupon would be used toward each window and the sliding glass door that we needed to be replaced. That was $250 for each. I called Window Universe to arrange an appointment for an estimate. It was scheduled for last Saturday at 2pm. At 1:55pm, I received a call from the salesman advising that he was just leaving his appointment in Baltimore and would be late to my home in Bel Air. I advised that he was really going to be late as the appointment was in Ocean City. 3 hours away. I advised that all this information was given to his company along with directions to the condo. I then told the salesman that I purchased the Angie's List coupon. He told me that the coupon was $250 off the total order and not each window/door. I advised that was NOT was what explained to me by his company before I even purchased the coupon. I pointed out the mis-communication problem that obviously exists with their company. I was then given a very high "ball park" estimate for the windows. It was clear that someone did not want to drive to Ocean City. I cancelled the appointment.

Well this report is a bit of a surprise. The Angies List storefront coupons seem to cause more trouble than they are worth so we may stop using this service. Angie takes a cut of each coupon purchased so they are heavily promoted on the site. If they’re causing customers to be less than satisfied then we’ll probably stop offering them. This particular coupon does state that you can buy a $250 discount for $125 so that’s a net savings of $125. It specifically says limit 1 per person and this customer only purchased one coupon so I’m not sure why she was thinking she would get the $125 discount on each of 7 windows. That would be a discount of $875 (7 x 125) which is not something we ever intended to offer. We thought the coupon was pretty clear and we do explain our coupons to folks on the phone all the time so I know everyone in our office is familiar with how they work. The larger issue is that if something we were advertising made this customer unhappy then it’s important to us and we’ll try to figure out the best way to address it. Regarding the appointment that was scheduled 3 hours from our office, we typically would turn down a request like that, but we try our best to accommodate our Angies List customers. In this case a 6 hour round trip coupled with a 30 minute appointment becomes a whole day affair. It was certainly our intention to honor this customer’s request when we scheduled the appointment, but once our rep fell behind in his schedule that day it was pretty much impossible to catch up, especially with rush hour traffic on the bridge. Our rep did call the customer to let her know that he wasn’t going to be able to make it. He read the wrong address on the form when he was on the phone with her mentioning her home address rather than the project address. I reviewed the system and the correct addresses were entered. We offered to either reschedule or talk through the particulars of the project on the phone and email a quote, but she was not interested in either option. We did refund the coupon that was purchased and we regret that this customer wasn’t thrilled with her experience. Regarding the storefront ads we will be reviewing our options. This coupon does state “pay $125 for a $250 coupon, limit 1 per customer”, but we will look at making the language more clear. I hope any potential customers reading through these reviews will also check out the 60+ other reviews and our personal responses to each and every one. Thanks!
