had to have them keep coming back when they delivered the wrong window again and again were told a window piece was included by salesman and then charged extra for it was told I would be contacted to discuss...no one called when I called to discuss, no one called me back administrative side of business poor

We contacted Window Universe and they sent out a salesman, Jay. He was knowledgable and straightforward. He gave us a breakdown of the product and pricing. He wasn’t pushy and let us think things over. We decided to go with Window Universe because of the quality of the product and the warranty. Approximately six weeks later, we had our replacement installation. Marek, the crew leader, and his two assistants, Walter and Sam, did a fantastic job. They were efficient and cleaned up well afterward. We are satisfied beyond our expectations. We would recommend them to family and friends.

Pricing was excellent and installation was seamless, professional, clean, and quiet over 2 days.

Absolutely great!! The installers, Jamie and sons should be commended for their work ethic. They were extremely meticulous, courteous and professional! My only regret is that I had never encountered these installers before.......and I have had my share of horrific stories with dealing with contractors in the past...........Also, their supervisor, Paul, definitely deserves recognition. He is the only one in the company that kept me informed during this project, from beginning to end. I feel that part of any project is crucial for the customer's satisfaction. The high grade I gave this company is solely based on him and his installers, Jamie and sons.

The process from sales to installation could not have gone smoother. We were very pleased with the service from start to finish. There were no pressure sales tactics, the quality of the windows was superior to those we received higher quotes on, they kept in touch every step of the way and installed our new windows in one day (leaving everything in excellent condition). We absolutely LOVE our new energy efficient windows .

I will first say that I am very displeased with the unsolicited phone call from Angie's List, in which an employee questioned my husband about work done by Window Universe. From this conversation a review was posted by Angie's List. The review posted is so badly worded, that it sounds like the interviewer is lacking adequate skill in use of the language. The installers did an excellent job. Our complaint is with management. We waited, and waited, and the crew did not show up on the day we were told they would come, and we did not receive a phone call, or any other form of communication to advise us. When I called the company, I was eventually told by the manager, "I will take the hit for that. There was a message from the crew stating that they would not make it to your house, but I did not see the message". He then said, "We will make it up to you". My husband and I both thought he meant that the price for the service would be reduced. When I came home from work on the day the work was being done, my husband and I walked around to look at the work done thus far. It was nearly finished, but we noticed that two of the windows had a slight blue tinge to them. We wondered if those windows might be the two special windows that we had ordered for an especially hot in summer, cold in winter room. We asked the installers about the two windows, and they said that they hadn't been informed about two special windows, but yes, on closer inspection there were indeed two special windows, and they had been installed in the wrong places. Again, the installers were wonderful, and corrected the mistake. The windows were installed on a Thursday, and on the following Monday I called the company to see what we owed them. We had paid half the bill on the day we contracted them for service, with the remaining half due upon completion. I thought the remaining portion would be adjusted, based upon our initial understanding that we would be given a discount. I reminded the manager of our previous conversation, and that I had called to find out what we owed. He was aggressive and unpleasant, and then knocked $50.00 off the bill. We did not ask for a discount, but following the first conversation, with him we understood that one would be given. I felt bullied by the manager, and ultimately insulted.

I found out about Window Universe via the website: https://thewindowdog.com On this website, they advertise a special program where they are able to extend a significant discount as well as streamline the window purchase process for replacement windows. They basically cut the middle-man out of the process with the negative sales tactics involved in this process normally. The site is also an excellent source on the Internet to perform your window research as the owner/moderator is deeply knowledgeable about all kinds and styles of windows, most major manufacturers, and construction processes used in most windows, old and new. Between the Q&A between him and other persons asking window questions, you can learn an immense amount of valuable information in a very short period of time. I quickly zeroed in on the replacement window I wanted installed within my home based on these reviews. The window turned out to be an Alside-manufactured window (Revere Birkshire Elite). All of my questions were answered by "Dan" on https://thewindowdog.com via email, including asking him his opinion of triple pane windows, pro's and con's of different spacers, gas used between panes, quality of window verses other manufacturers, U-factors, etc. My emails were answered within a day at most - nice. Once my questions were answered, all I had to do was tell him how many windows I wanted replaced and the window style (in my case, double hung). A contract was sent to my email address, and it was very detailed on exactly what I was getting, including all options. I actually added a few more options after seeing all options on a single page, and only after I asked Dan his opinion of value verses cost. There was zero game playing, and everything was 100% transparent. The total cost for the 10-window package was very aggressive; much less cost than most other companies for the same window. Once I signed the contract, an Alside window measurer came out to my house less than a week later to measure the existing 10 window frames/openings. Process took all of 20 minutes. The windows were then ordered behind the scenes and arrived 3 weeks later, likely due to my order for triple pane vs double pane. A simple phone call informed us the windows arrived, and we agreed to an installation date. Two installers arrived on-time at 8:30am. Installers were very nice. Complete installation went smooth as silk. No problems whatsoever. The installation included exterior aluminum capping within the cost, which was a plus, and this team did an excellent job on this part of the job. The installer bending this aluminum capping was a true artist - there were features and bends on the capping which were not all 90 degree bends, yet made the windows capped beautifully and laying on brickwork ready to be caulked. Caulking was superb. Installation of these windows also featured spray-foaming the gap between the replacement window frame and the house window frame - a technique way better than filling in this space with pink fiberglass insulation *if* you're lucky enough to have a competitor installation team take the time to do this "little detail" in the first place. Most homeowners don't know the importance of this step. The triple pane windows are excellent and the quality is fantastic. Opening & closing the windows are easier than the older windows that were replaced. With these new windows installed, I can already feel a significant improvement in temperatures from room to room ? all rooms are now the same temperatures, rather than colder or hotter than others. Big difference compared to the windows I had replaced. Overall, a pleasant and truly spectacular and efficient experience! I couldn?t be more pleased from the beginning to ending of this process. I highly recommend this company for your future window replacement needs.

It was excellent and they did a great job. They got everything done in a couple of days, and topped it off with good workmanship and an excellent price.

I highly recommend Window Universe. I used them in the past (for two doors), so I used them again to replace five windows. Their prices are better than their competitors, they have a no-pressure sales pitch (VERY important to me), and the windows are Energy Star compliant with a lifetime warranty. The turnaround from ordering to having them installed was about 5 or 6 weeks, and they kept me updated each week as to the progress of the project. On the day of installation, the installers were prompt and professional and did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves, and they dealt with my psychotic neighbor who came over and yelled at them for making noise (it was after 10 am...she's just crazy). I will use them again if I have another window or door project.

PART 1 - We recently contacted Windows Universe to replace all 12 of our Anderson, single pane, wooden windows. We have very large windows throughout our house (larger than most doors) and we nervous about the cost to replace them (some won't open and the glass is separating from the wood!). Jay D. (sales guy who I will recommend) came out to our house and gave us an itemized quote - and every window cost the same price, including the door sized ones! I was shocked and thought there had to be a catch, but there wasn't! Jay wasn't pushy, just left us with all the numbers and information and told us to shoot him an email if we decided to move ahead with our purchase. He even took the time to price a couple of custom sized doors for us (the quotes for doors where too expensive for us) We took about 2 weeks to mull it over and get other quotes (which didn't even come close to WU). I contacted Jay and told him we were ready to proceed. He came back out to the house to go over again the cost as we wanted to add prairie grids to some of our windows (not all). We provided a 1/3 deposit on the windows and the rest will be paid once we are satisfied with the work. A few days later we scheduled the measurement of the windows and the customer support even called me to ask if they could come sooner as the crew finished the other appointment early. The two man crew came in and measured all windows and were out in 15 minutes. So far I have been pleased with the communication and professionalism of WU. I understand that I'm "in line" for installation which is totally fine with us, we got a 4-6 week time frame to have the windows built and then installed. I will update my review as the job progresses, keep up the good work!

This was a $121 big deal purchase. The actual installation, when they got around to installing it, was pretty good. The installers were good. The quality of the work was fine, but the scheduling was horrible. I purchased the deal in late August and they did not get here until after Thanksgiving. I paid more than the price of the deal. The job was more than a $2,000 job. I am very happy with the windows. They were on time when it was finally scheduled, but they did not give me a call beforehand. They said they would. They gave me an estimate that they would be here between nine and two, and the got here right before nine, but they did not give us a call beforehand. They did send me updates by email, but the windows were actually in, in October. They did what they said they were going to do, except they never got the da*n thing scheduled. Or when they had it scheduled they had it scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving.

Tried to deny that we had bought the coupon and charge us the higher rate. Also tried to charge us for lead abatement when we saw their own technician fill out a negative report. Only multiple phone calls got them to charge the correct amount. Their installers are good, but would not recommend using them.

I had 4 different window consultations to replace all of the Windows in my home. Window Universe was the last consult and the lowest price. The other consults had prices ranging from $6,500 - $14,000 and the highest quote was only double panes! Window Universe was the only company of the 4 consultations that was completely transparent about pricing and left with me the itemized quote. I got exactly what I wanted; energy efficiency, triple pane, grids, and exterior color other than white. The installers were extremely professional and friendly. I received emails every week with updates while I waited for the Windows to be fabricated. I love my Windows! Neighbors and pedestrians alike asked about the Windows during installation and have continued to inquire and compliment me on the Windows. My visitors and relatives love my Windows too. Also, the triple panes have allowed me to sleep uninterrupted by the noises from the MTA buses and other vehicles, pedestrian passerbyers talking and/ or walking on the fallen leaves, and the barking from the neighboring dog! Moreover, with the recent cooler weather our home is noticeably warmer and cozier. My Window Universe Windows in my opinion are the best looking Windows on my block!

I had been trying for over a year to find someone who would help with solve my sunroom windows - 7 casement windows that a previous owner painted shut. These guys were the only ones who said they could do it and at a reasonable price. At times it seemed like the windows were beating the crew, but they stayed until the job was done. The guys even joked about my neurotic dog who basically barked at them for the entire work day. We love our new windows and our neighbors love how much better our house looks from the street.

As per the person at the installation department, anything done within 90 days is considered as a success. Documentation I signed with them everything will be done in 4 to 6 weeks. Who is going to pay for my loss of pay? For taking off since contractor is coming to work?

Window Universe was the second company who came out to provide an estimate for this job. The first company was very long winded and pushy, they wanted a contract signed that evening. The representative from Window Universe covered their product very well, but was not long winded or pushy. I was able to have a couple of days to think over the decision before calling back and confirming. Once that was done, the representative came back out to have me sign the contract and went over the whole installation process with me. The crew lead then came out and did a final measurement on my door, that is when the order for it was put in. Scheduling the installation was very easy, it was a 1/2 day job, so I only had to take 1/2 day off from work. The crew was friendly, fast and efficient. It was a wonderful thing to be able to open the door with 2 fingers! I would definitely do business with Window Universe again if I have a need arise.

Perfect! We were able to get the exact siding we wanted, similar in appearance to original (40 year-old home) with updated shutters. Team arrived on time and immediately contacted me to see if I had questions. They set up and worked throughout the day, checking routinely to update me on their progress. The installation went smooth and the finished product is beautiful - excellent job! This is the second major project we have done with Window Universe. We had windows replaced earlier this year - project went equally well! Highly recommend this outstanding service provider!

I would absolutely recommend Window Universe. We met with reps from Thompson Creek, Clear View, Lowes, and also got estimates from a couple of our contractors. Every other company was outrageously expensive in comparison. Beyond price, WU had helpful and open communication with us throughout the process, their windows are great quality, and the installation went very smoothly. PRICE: Thompson Creek and Clear View were both asking almost $17k, Lowes was over $12k, and one of our contractors quoted around $11k. These prices were far beyond that of a wise investment in our minds. Window Universe did everything for a little under $10k! (Mandatory lead paint fees contributed about $1k to all those numbers.) SALES PITCH: Thompson Creek was at our house for over two hours, and the others weren?t much better. I learned more about windows than I ever wanted to know! All of them required me and my wife to be there (so you can?t give that excuse to think about it), and they put pressure on you to make a decision before they leave, often saying prices will increase later. WU was much more laid back, didn?t push for the sale, encouraged us to take our time and think about it, and answered all our questions. PRODUCT QUALITY: After learning so much about windows, the product from WU, made by ?Revere Windows?, looked as good as the others. Their U-Factor of .29 compared fairly evenly with the others; the costliest places only get a point or two lower. They have the same features - double locks, both the top and bottom panes swing inward for easy cleaning, they can lock at a partially-open position for safely getting a breeze. There were a few small quality issues we noticed once the windows were installed - a couple of the inner grids were slightly crooked and one of the locks was broken. But they came out and fixed these things right away, as they have a great warranty? WARRANTY: Some of these companies offered warranties that were not transferable to a subsequent owner, or included materials but not labor, or didn?t include accidental glass breakage. Be sure to ask about these things when shopping for windows. Lowes was the worst for this, with only 2 years of labor coverage, and a warranty that turns into a 10 year warranty for a new owner. WU has an excellent warranty. INSTALL: Our installer was great. He went above and beyond in some tough situations, he took it upon himself to replace extra aluminum trim around our bay windows. The installers worked around large overgrown bushes and handled our old lead paint framing well.

All the details... details of everything that went wrong fill the numerous pages of five voluminous letters. There is a huge dichotomy between the company 'Window Universe' and their contractors who do the installation work. The problem here is that the installers are contractors, not employees. In my experience, the actual Window Universe people are professional, concerned, competent, and they really do stand behind their product. Unfortunately, because some of their contractors are lousy, I have the opportunity to attest that they do stand behind their product and will make everything right. <sigh> I hired this company because I was present when they installed windows at my friends' house. That crew was impressive. They were polite, neat, competent and conscientious - and out of the Washington office. After seeing these guys, I had absolutely no qualms about contracting with this company for my window replacement. Unfortunately I am in the territory served by the Baltimore office. :( The contractors I had the misfortune of dealing with were a thoroughly unprofessional and incompetent lot. None of them spoke English, so communication was nearly impossible. They left a huge mess behind: They left packing materials removed from the windows laying all over my neighbors driveway despite my requests that they move the trash. They left litter below every window, tracked dirt, leaves, and mud all over every floor in the house, grinding the grime into my hardwood floors, and there was not a drop cloth in sight. The lack of drop cloths was especially glaring in the living room, where they cut out a section of wall below the existing openings, to accommodate the larger windows, and generated a large amt of dust and debris all over the room. They left cigarette butts in strewn in the driveway. They left pieces of aluminum capping and discarded wood in the shrubbery. They made me to understand they wanted to borrow tools - and they didn't even have a broom with them! Not only did they not have needed tools with them, they didn't have the additional materials they needed for the job. Their work was generally sloppy. They started to install the first window in the wrong opening. None of the 16 window handles were securely attached. About half of them came off in my hand. The exterior trim aluminum capping was installed improperly, and some of the windows lacked a weather-tight seal [this has been corrected]. They made a mess of the interior caulk. They left caulk smears all over the new windows, inside and outside. They installed a pair of living room windows out of level, out of plumb, and not aligned with each other. [At this writing (2/5/15) I am awaiting the reinstallation of these windows, along with the replacement of one they cracked.] If I hire this company again, it will be in a much more controlled situation where I can limit their screwups.

After we set the original appointment for measurements and logistics the gentleman that was suppose to show up never showed up for first scheduled appointment. I called a few times and finally got a second appointment scheduled and he was late for that appointment as well. The salesman was hard to get ahold of and was not offered any compensation for wasting two whole days waiting for installer planner. Installation of actual windows went a little more smoothly.

We love our door. We live in an old Baltimore rowhome and the door frame was uneven. Window Universe installed a custom door (and storm door) inside of the existing frame, thus making sure the stained glass above was fine. The door makes such a difference: it keeps heat/air conditioning in and opens so much easier than it used to. It was not cheap but worth it.

Process went smooth. Salesmen was professional and did not give us the hard sale tactics that other companies did. Pricing was very straightforward. The window installers were professional and did a good job. no complaints with my windows. I would definatley recommend this company to any intrested in replacement windows.

Our home's windows were from the original builder (23 years old) and were letting a lot of draft and heat loss during the winters. We did this home improvement to hopefully cut down on our energy costs for the winter months. We got 8 windows replaced. The whole experience with Windows Universe was very good. The price quotes from Windows Univer was very competitive and the quality of the work A grade. There was a little bit of delay in scheduling the installation, mostly due to weather reasons. On the day of the install, though they were able to replace all of the windows of the house and also came back later to address a follow up.

From beginning to the end, the whole experience exceeded professionalism. I was very comfortable and I was very, very pleased. I will certainly use them again.
