TruGreen Lawn Care - 5815

Stay away. Far away. This company has good salesmen...they must. I've turned away lawn-service companies for years, but decided to go ahead and give Scotts a try because the guy who came by the house struck a pretty good bargain. Unfortunately, the people who come out to the house to do the work are sloppy. It's not that they don't put stuff on your lawn...they do...but they do it haphazardly and coverage is poor. We were told that our wild violets would be hard to get rid of, which is fine, but that the broad-based weeds would be decimated quickly. Well, we had to get extra applications put on (which, I'll admit, they did do very promptly at no charge), but we have lots of weeds growing in strips around the perimeter of the property, around shrubbery, other patches, etc. Watching the "technicians" work, it's not hard to figure out why. They clearly just have a certain number of gallons they need to apply, and they just sort of randomly spray around until it's gone. What topped it off for me, though, was the fact that they aerated (horrible job, missed multiple areas of lawn) and overseeded in 95+ degree temps during the first week of August....something that 100% of garden centers I called recommended against, stating I should wait until September at the earliest. Instead of asking me what they could do to satisfy me as a customer, the manager-type argued with me for at least 20 minutes. Overall, they must have a decent sales force that transitions customers over to a low-quality, sloppy team of "technicians," who are then backed by a management staff that doesn't understand true customer service. Plenty of other options to choose from in the area. I wouldn't gamble here.

They are a national chain and not local. I have spoken to them the other day. I spend $600 or $700 a year. I like them but I don't have anything about them that stands out.

They came out promptly and listened to my story of how badly I was treated by Trugreen. They provided a great deal with an option to cancel any time. They are very professional. They made my lawn look great.

They were expensive but did a very good job.

We have been using Scotts LawnService for the past 2 years. Following the August 10, 2010 service our front lawn pretty much largely became a patch of brown, dead grass. We made 3 phone calls to Scotts, requesting that someone come to our home, assess the problem, and suggest a solution. No phone calls were returned. I called Scotts a 4th time a short while ago, informing them that I was about to file a report on Angie's List. A technician will come in the morning, I am told. The company refused to send out a manager.

My lawn looks terrible, despite the fact that they always leave me a message about how good the lawn looks. They obviously hire truck drivers who simply pull out the hose and e******** all over my lawn. For the money I pay, I would expect that this company would be notified by the driver if a customer has specific problems or difficulties with the lawn -- if the lawn does not seem to be responding -- and some specific advice provided. I hire them to know what to do with my lawn. In addition, it is easier for me to personally get rid of my crabgrass than it is to get rid of this company. They automatically perform services once you have been a customer and do not give you information about how to discontinue the service. (Similar to Angie's List!)

Overall, only fair. The insecticide treatments went ok. The lawn fertilization didn't.

We have used their services for about three years. I pay for the season which includes about six treatments. Two in the spring, two in the summer, and two in the fall. They are real good about calling the day before to let us know they are coming. They give advice and do a good job.

I have used them about three months, but I am satisfied so far.

Scott's is a bit slow to respond to phone calls but they are very friendly and work quickly and efficiently. I have no complaints about the yard. They also are polite enough to leave a note on the door to let me know they were there if I am at work, which I appreciate.

Scott's comes out on a regular schedule and I don't even have to be home. The truck just comes, does the work and leaves. They even warn me first if they are going to use insecticide since I have cats. The lawn looks great.

Ill keep this brief since it may end up in a lawsuit. At seasons end the lawn was a disaster and lots of mud and not grass. Its a very long story of incompetence. Don't use this company! I'm trying to get my money back from them and use it for another company to salvage whats left. Scotts didn't even do a free soil test so I'm having it done at my expense after the fact to see how they killed the grass.

Treatments were ineffective. Weeds flourished. Existing grass has now been taken over by crabgrass and a noxious weed called Green Kyllinga. Core aeration resulted in damage to underground sprinkler system pipes as well as sprinkler system control cables and Comcast T.V. underground cable. Scotts insurance has taken care of the repair cost and Comcast has replaced the damaged cable. The Scotts seed application failed to germinate. My yard is a disaster. Scotts representative (Mr. Ron Young) visited on 10/2 and offered to provide further treatments. I declined since I didnt want any further damage to my lawn. I have refused to pay for the last three visits due to the ineffectiveness of their products. I am seeking a refund of $712, which I have paid to date and a cancellation of the remaining unpaid amount of $732. I do not want Scotts to do any further work.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANY ONE. THEY DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THE GRASS LOOKED, I FINALLY HAD TO GO TO THE STORE AND ASK QUESTIONS AND DO THE WORK MY SELF.

THEY ARE VERY POLITE AND PUNCTUAL. THEY ALWAYS RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN ANY RESULTS FROM THE TREATMENT. I JUST DON'T HAVE THE LAWN I WAS HOPING FOR, BUT IT MAY BE TOO SOON TO TELL.

I THINK THE COMPANY DOES AN ADEQUATE JOB. I HAVE BEEN SATISFIED WITH THE SERVICES, BUT I WILL NOT USE THEM FOR SERVICES AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE.

MY FAMILY WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY WOULD COME OUT, ON THEIR TIME AND NOT ON OURS. SOMETIMES THEY WOULD COME OUT WHEN UNEXPECTED. MY LAWN LOOKED TERRIBLE, AND NOT TO MY STANDARDS.

THIS COMPANY DOES EXCELLENT WORK. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM, NOR THEIR WORKERS. THEIR PRICING WAS VERY REASONABLE, AND THEIR SERVICE LEVEL IS EXCELLENT.

I AM NOT VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON A SCHEDULE AND I STILL HAVE TO CALL TO GET THEM OUT HERE. THEY WAITED TO LONG TO TREAT FOR CRABGRASS SO NOW THE YARD IS FULL OF THE STUFF AND DOES NOT LOOK AT ALL GOOD.

WE HAVE BEEN HOME TO WATCH THEM WORK AND THEY REALLY TAKE THEIR TIME AND MAKE SURE THEY HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB COVERING THE LAWN. THE ONLY PROBLEMS WE'VE HAD HAVE BEEN DUE TO WEATHER AND OUT OF SCOTT'S CONTROL, SO I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THEM.

I NORMALLY WOULD USE SCOTT'S FIVE TIMES A YEAR. HERE LATELY, THE WORKERS HAVE BEEN SLACKING OFF ON THE JOB AND NOT COMPLETING IT TO MY SATISFACTION. THEIR SERVICE USED TO BE JUST WONDERFUL, BUT CURRENTLY WE ARE NO LONGER USING THEM.

THEY ARE VERY DEPENDABLE AND PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE TO DO BUSINESS WITH. THEY ALWAYS COME WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL BE THERE AND THEY DO A VERY GOOD JOB.

I REALLY LOVE THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK. THE CREW IS POLITE AND VERY FRIENDLY. OUR LAWN LOOKS WONDERFUL AND OUR SHRUBS DO TOO. THEY ALSO SPRAY A BARRIER AROUND OUR HOUSE SO BUGS DO NOT GET INTO OUR HOME.

THEY DO A VERY GOOD JOB. MY LAWN LOOKS VERY PRETTY AND HEALTHY. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND VERY ACCOMMODATING TO MY WANTS AND NEEDS. THEY COME AT THEIR SCHEDULED TIME EVERY TIME.

THEY COME IN AND TELL YOU WHAT THEY WILL BE DOING TO TREAT YOUR LAWN AND THEY HAVE NEVER TREATED ME WRONG THEY COME IN AND DO A WONDERFUL JOB AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM.
