Description of Work: I had a roof built over my deck, my house was painted, front porch painted and new railings put in. Also, my front door was painted and new hardware was installed. I had new kitchen sink fixtures installed as well. They put on a new roof for me a few years ago too! These guys are great!

Description of Work: Replaced front half of roof including reinforcing overhang and replacing two rake boards which were rotted on a nearly 100 year old house and installed new front gutter and down spout. Mr. Burns was very professional. The job was more complicated than anticipated and took 5 days to complete when the original time was expected to be two days. The crew was at my home every day for the full 5 days and Mr. Burns was here working and supervising every day as promised. He and the crew went the extra mile to do a quality job actually taking off and replacing the wood shingle trim when they installed vinyl tongue and groove under the overhang so it would look right. He also replaced a support which was not part of the original scope of the work because it was rotted. My only issue was with the side where they did not replace the rake boards. Due to the reinforcement of the overhang, the overhang was raised a couple inches and the supports on that side needed to be adjusted. This was done by pulling up the support and shooting in some nails to keep it in place. The result was that the support was pulled away from the house 1 to 3 inches at the bottom and was basically hanging from the rake board. Due to the reinforcement, this was not a structural problem but was aesthetically incorrect. It took me a couple of days on a ladder to correct it. It also turned out that there were 4 to 6 places where nails missed the rake board where the roof was sheathed and protruded so they were visible from underneath (i.e., from the ground). I cut these off with a multi-tool and painted them so you can't see anything now. And finally, when the crew removed the trim under the overhang on the front of the house to install the vinyl tongue and groove, the trim pieces broke and needed be replaced. Mr. Burns offered to do this for an additional fee but I declined preferring to do it myself. Overall, I was pleased with the work and I am kind of OCD when it come to this kind of thing. I would recommend Recovery Roofing. It's a family business and I believe they will do the right thing. |
