Fick Bros Roofing Co

Wanted to get multiple jobs done due to Hurricane Sandy (remove formstone, repoint brick, repair inside water damaged drywall and floors, replace front door). I called in December 2012 to inquire on what work they did and cost estimates. The person who answered the phone said they could do everything I needed done. I would need to have someone come out to estimate costs. They were booked up and on vacation til January 2013 (totally understandable) but she would call back the first week of January to arrange an estimate visit. Never called back. I called back and left a couple voice mails in Jan and again Feb, no response.

They seem very professional and took pictures. They did a good job. They would decide they needed something and they would charge me for them going to the store. I paid for the job up front, but I had to pay for 2 guys to run to the store to pick things up. I could have done that for them.

My wife and I both took time off to meet their estimator and we still don't have an estimate. If a contractor does not want to work with us they should at least tell us.

It went very well. I was out of commission from an accident, and they were all very professional employees. They left me messsages and when I picked up, they were happy to pick up where they left off. They were timely and it was a clean work site. My contact has followed up with me since to make sure that I have been happy with it. On the day they left, part of the job was not finished inside my house and I took care of it myself. A few days after, someone called and realized the case, and when I told him I handled it, they promptly took off that part of the bill and sent a new invoice indicating that.

Our experience with them was great.

I requested an estimate to repair or replace my slate roof with an asphalt roof. They did come to review the roof. However, I never received the estimate. It is a waste of everone's time not to give a potential customer an estimate on a timely basis. I am not going to call and ask again for something I requested. Too late now. I got another companythat will replace the roof.

Fick Bros agreed to repair a leak in the roof of our garage. Unless you replace the entire roof, their contract guarantees nothing. Two weeks following a $5000 repair, the leak reappeared. Of course, we were assured that this leak was from a different place and they would be happy to repair again for another thousand dollars. Additional information. Although it may be totally unrelated, my house was burglarized about 2 weeks after the original work was finished. Coincidence?

They were pricey, but they did an excellent job. They were timely, very neat very clean, and very professional. They explained everything and showed me the materials that they would be using before the job was done. I am very, very satisfied and impressed with their work. I had used them for gutter cleaning earlier, but I had to discontinue the service. I felt their price for roof replacement was fair, but I thought $600 for gutter cleaning seemed ridiculously outrageous. I could not believe it when I got that bill. I liked them for the roofing, but I would not use them for gutter cleaning. Even the gutter cleaning wasn't done excellently, and I had to call them back twice because they had missed the small gutters. I can't recommend them for gutter cleaning. My roof will need to be replaced in the near future, and I would get a quote from them to know what they would charge.

Worst meeting with a contractor EVER! What should have been a 30 minute discussion of the job and explanation of the quote became a 2 hour presentation about how Fick Brothers pays their employees more than anyone else, details on their training and hiring process, more pictures of a machine shop than I'd ever want to see, and then some. Finally he came to the estimate - literally 50% higher than the next highest quote of $12,000, and nearly 3x the amount charged by the contractor we ultimately decided to go with. We were so shocked, we actually showed the sales rep the other quotes. The materials, processes, construction, and estimated times from all three were identical (in fact the drawings we exact duplicates - like they all used the same software or something). His response was simply that the other companies were not as well trained as Fick (find that hard to believe since all three are extremely busy in our neighborhood). What made it worse was the fact that the sales rep actually called my wife at home the very next day to take another run at the job, again bad-mouthing the competition, saying their roofs would not last longer than 10 years (of course, the fact that for the price, I could afford to add a new roof every 10 years until I pay off my mortgage and still be ahead was lost on the guy). These guys (at least this particular sales rep) was like a used car salesman. Totally skeevy and using hard-sales tactics. Go with Marathon, Roland, or Old World. Not these guys.

They were recommended to me by some friends. From previous experience, I knew that they were very apt at doing really great work. They came by and did excellent work on the roof. I think that their price might be a little higher than normal, but it is adequate for the work they do; it is worth the money.

They did a very professional job. They were very though and detail oriented. They explained the maintenance and things to look out for with my slate roof. They are a quality organization. Chuck Licada and his team completed the work and did an excellent job.

The threat to the house was taken care of. I am satisfied with the work they have done for me. These are the only two times I’ve called them.

They did a good job. They cleaned up after themselves. I was satisfied with their work. They quoted an estimate and stayed within that estimate. They completed the work in a timely manner. I had a problem with leaking gutters so they came right back and corrected it.

We liked the sales pitch and that they had a high quality of workmanship and craftsmanship which we found to be true. We were convinced they were going to do the job right and that it would be worth the cost. They were very detailed in their proposal and comprehensive with the costs. After the first major rainstorm we had some leaking but the next business day they came and out fixed it. Some of the shingles had been incorrectly placed but they made the repairs at no extra charge. We didn't like the fact that they couldn't be reached over the weekend which was when the leak developed. They did call the first business day, but at that point it could have been too late.

Too much palaver. This should have been an easy estimate, set up and task. The salesman and I must have had three to four visits and discussions over a relatively simple job. Discussions about whether or not we needed an outside port-a-potty, etc. Just too much preamble before the job actually got done. They did work for us on this house decades ago, which seems to have been fine - on our slate roof. I think they have their eye on re-doing our entire slate roof, for which they did an elaborate estimate and presentation. Nice people, but one feels as though one's being had before anything gets started. On the plus side - the workman/craftsman who actually did the work did a beautiful job. Very nice guy, agreed with me that there was too much preamble for a simple job. Still not leaking and it was done last year - 2007.

I called the company for a free estimate. A service representative visited and was unable to explain the cause of my leak. I was told that a supervisor needed to do a water test at a rate of $90.00/hour for his time. He arrived and spent an hour (no more), but instead of doing a water test and without consulting me (though I was present), he did minor repairs on the roof that did NOT address my concerns regarding leaks. The service representative informed me that there would be no charge for this work. I was told that much of my roof needed to be replaced and given a very high estimate for the work. Then I received a bill for the work that I had not approved, and that I had been told was complimentary. I called to inquire about the bill and why I was being asked to pay more than $90/hour for work that I had not pre-approved. I was told that I would receive an explanation in writing. Instead, I got another bill, with late charges added.

Fick provided a very thorough estimate of all of the work needed on our roof and provided useful (and accurate, in my opinion) guidance about which items were urgent and which could wait. The estimator and office staff were always helpful and responsive. The crews were prompt, courteous, and professional. All of the work was impeccable. I found the cost to be high, relative to other companies, but fair given the quality and attention to detail that Fick provided. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I liked this company as they did what they said they would. They arrived on time and even took pictures for me. I thought they were a little high but if you want quality you have to pay for it. I think that their quality of work was well worth what I had to pay. They cleaned up the work area and were very professional.

I called Fick Bros. Roofing to request an on-sight inspection and price estimate for some modest roof repair work in February 2007. I met with an estimator who did a thorough inspection and promised to send me an estimate. No estimate arrived. I called the company and they sent a different estimator to my home to review the estimate from the first person. This person was brand new and seemed to be unaware of pricing, materials or just what the first guy had found. At the end of that discussion, I was again promised 3 separate price quotes for different degrees of repair. It is now six months later and I have received nothing in writing and no follow-up communication. My roof still leaks. I can only assume that Fick Brothers concluded that our job was too small or not worth their while. The lack of responsiveness is disconcerting.

They responded immediately. They haven't done the work yet.

I'd had on-going problems with overflowing gutters, especially in the back. After several other companies had come out and 'fixed' the problem, I called Fick. They were very professional and discussed several options with me. The job foreman was particularly helpful and suggested a modification of the original proposal which made for a more efficient and less expensive solution. Did I pay a lot? Yes. Could another company have done as good a job for less? Maybe. But with all the rains we had this summer, not one drop overflowed.

Fick Bros. assessed our roof problem and gave us an estimate on a new roof. The representative was knowledgeable, friendly and thorough--we were sold on them doing the job. Until we learned the price was $15,000 OVER the estimate we had previously been given. We comparatively researched estimates and came to the conclusion that the two jobs were virtually the same. We couldn't justify spending an extra $15,000 on the job so we went with the other company. Too bad, I really liked the Fick Brothers representative. I hope the other company does as good a job as they proposed they would do.

One month for them to set up roof inspection. Inspector asked personal financial probing questions. He wouldn't identify any specific areas of concern on my slate roof but kept asking me what I wanted them to do to the roof. What I wanted was a thorough inspection. After telling me my roof was in great shape and no immediate repairs need to be made, I was sent an estimate for $5000 of "repairs". Very unprofessional.
