Scheduled an inspection for chimney repair on 2 chimneys that require repointing and new caps/etc. However, the person never showed up at the scheduled time, did not contact us or anything. I called back, got voice mail, and left a message asking when it would be rescheduled. Again, no one called back to respond or reschedule. I have gone with a competitor.

I called Bob up on Friday late afternoon and said that my chimney cap needed replaced (blown off in recent storm). He was able to have it done on Monday. I wasn't around but he trusted me enough to do the work and send him a check which was really nice. I had purchased my own cap which he installed as I wanted a black cap. I think he normally supplies the caps so the price I have listed is with him providing a cap. Wish I had more contractors like this! Thank you Bob.

We had a leak in our bedroom. We had been told by another company that a chimney crown needed to be replaced and that it would cost over $4,000! Charmed City Chimney Services inspected the roof and the chimney and concluded that there was nothing really wrong with the area (there were some hairline cracks in the chimney, but nothing to warrant paying over $4000 as had been proposed by the company who wanted to replace a crown!). He recommended waterproofing the chimney for piece of mind, but said that it was not entirely necessary because the seal that had recently been put on where the gutter met the chimney seemed to be where the water was entering the bedroom). The workers were professional, friendly, fair, and honest and I am very grateful to them. While I did not get the waterproofing done- I will definitely keep them in mind for future work!

When the vent pipe change didn't appear to reduce the backdraft, the 2 (nice and hardworking) young men removed the furnace vent pipe and discovered the blockage back inside the wall. They then worked diligently to remove as much of the material as they could and succeeded in eliminating the backdraft to the water heater.

I was very pleased with the service but did not get the repair done at this time since I need some other items completed on roof and decided to wait to do it all at the same time.

Answered RFP on time, proposal was several hundred dollars cheaper than other bidders. Had to postpone service due to heavy rains. Rescheduled for a Tuesday, but provider asked to move the service up one day. Arrived on time,finished the job early with minimum disruption, and thoroughly cleaned the work area. Highly recommend them for service, timeliness, and price.

I identified this provider through Angie's List and contacted them using Angie's List messaging. Provider called me within 48 hours to arrange for estimate. I described the issues/chimney condition via e-mail and then answered questions on phone. I was not required to be present for the estimate which saved me from having to take off work. Provide called me after completing estimate to discuss what they found and to recommend level of repair required. Provider had a written estimate e-mailed to me the afternoon of the estimate describing all work to be performed in detail. I found the estimate to be extremely well-priced compared to other providers estimating similar work. I confirmed my desire to have them perform the work and requested a date. Provider scheduled a timely date and time, and then followed through, calling the day of the work to confirm their arrival time. All work was completed per the estimate, for the estimated price without issue including cleanup. (There was some minor concrete residue, but it washed away quickly. Nothing that wouldn't be expected.) Once again, I did not need to be present for the work to be conducted. I did need to make sure that an external electrical and water source were available. The provider did not require any up front deposit or payment for the work, and allowed me to inspect the work before mailing a check, which I did the same day the work was completed. 100% satisfied, and I will use them again for future maintenance and/or necessary repairs. Highly recommend their service.

The whole process went really well. I had someone come out to give me a free estimate, and was happily surprised to learn it was a third of what the previous 2 estimates had been. The other two companies had told me the chimney needed to be rebuilt from the flashing up, but Bob said the loose or cracked mortar and bricks could pretty easily be removed and replaced. They were able to take and send me pictures of the work after they finished (I had pictures of the chimney before the work from the inspection report). If I have any future issues with my chimney they are the first call I will make-

Good service, price was the lowest of three estimates. Easy to schedule the service, everything got done in the time allotted. No complaints.

Bob and Greg were scheduled to arrive between 2-4pm today. They arrived punctually within their window, at 3pm. This is my first chimney/ fireplace, so I was unsure what to expect. They were both exceptionally friendly, and when informed I had no idea how to work a fireplace, they took the time to give me a tutorial about the parts involved in the chimney, and also how to work them. They performed the service without a hitch, judging from the amount of soot they removed, they did a wonderful job. Bob was nice enough to look at my gutters and check the flue for my furnace while he was on my roof and let me know they were clear. I would highly recommend their service to anyone in need of a sweep or repair. I called several other sweeps before using them and they did offer the best price in my area.

All in all I'm pleased with the job they did (their pricing was unbeatable). They showed up a little late but called first to let me know. They stayed the length of the day to complete the work. The upper portion of our chimney was in poor condition, we had just bought the house and the crown was completely deteriorated to the point that there was no evidence it was ever crowned The tuckpointing they did was good, grinded out every joint we had agreed to in the scope of work (was only the upper 1/2 of the chimney). They left the brick face clean. They could have spent a little more time tooling the joints but I think it's nit picking considering they were about half the cost of every other estimate I got. The crown itself seems to be solid, a nice white with terra cotta flue and a stainless cap. It IS a bit off center though, but, again this is nit picking IMO. The only point of the job I am somewhat displeased with is the "cricket" flashing they installed. The chimney only had flush flashing and I wanted a cricket to help divert rain water and snow away from the backside of the chimney. It appears they took aluminum coil and just kind of made an open topped triangle then siliconed it to the shingles. It looks pretty flimsy and I doubt it will do anything to divert any moisture. I'll probably end up having a roofer redo it. Again, though, for the price I can't complain too much.

Everything went according to plan, there were no problems or surprises. Bob Monnier and his crew arrived on time, were very professional, and did exactly what they were supposed to do. My new chimney looks great, and I am very pleased with the service Bob and his crew provided. I can confidently recommend their services.

The house is older and fireplace has not been used in quite a few years. We recently bought the house and are planning on putting in a woodstove insert into the existing fireplace. We needed an inspection to see if the fireplace was safe for the insert and also an estimate on brickwork to the chimney. After the inspection was done, we were told that the fireplace itself was safe to install the woodstove. However, since the house is older they could not guarantee that they could match up the existing brick. They said they would be willing to install the woodstove for us when we bought it but they did not want to do the brick work.

When I called them, they were very responsive. They came and gave an estimate when they said they would. They were very polite on the phone and in person. I got one other estimate in which it was that suggested we get work done that really didn't need to be done, we decided to go with Charm City. They did the work the day they said they would. I did not get on the roof and check the work but he told be that if it leaked again, they would come out to reapply the water proofing. We had a lot of rain the past few days and the chimney has not leaked. But I feel confident that if it does leak in the future, they will come and reapply as they said they would.

Overall, this company did a fantastic job and we're very accomodating to my schedule and considerate of my property. It's rare to find companies like this, so I felt compelled to submit this review. If you need any chimney service I recommend Charmed Chimney Service.

I had a very limited amount of time to perform a chimney service before my new tenants moved in. They were very accommodating schedule wise, and even waited 10 minutes for me to arrive! Once inside, they were very professional, performing the inspection and cleaning very quickly. I would highly recommend them for any chimney service.

They handled the project very well. They were very responsive, professional, and punctual. We had to have a certain temperature to do the project. Therefore, we kept rescheduling to try to find a day when it wasn't too windy or too cold and they were very cooperative about it. They guy that came was young, but he was very thoughtful. When he put the damper in, he asked if I was right handed or left handed so that he can put the handle on the correct side. He walked around my roof to check the screening and some other things on the roof to see if I had stink bugs coming in there. He went the extra mile to try to make this work.

These guys were great. They did a clean and efficient job. They explained everything to me initially and did everything as planned. These guys look young, but they know what they are doing and they do an excellent job start to finish.

After dealing with another company who tried to pressure me into nearly $10K worth of work, Bob was a breath of fresh air! On the first visit, he and his colleague inspected the flues and swept out the furnace clue. They were quick, clean, and efficient. Then we discussed what other work was needed. His assessment was much more reasonable, but still outside my budget. We discussed it and negotiated to a very reasonable price. He returned a week later and finished the work with the same professionalism. I would definitely hire him again.

Charmed Chimney relined the chimney for our furnace. They were on time and quoted the lowest price of 3 bids we received. No complaints and I would definitely recommend.

Charmed Chimney Service did our chimney inspection when we bought our house and they were very thorough. We didn't feel like they were pushing us to get work done we didn't need. They were very honest about what was more urgent and what could wait. We were able to get the seller to pay for the work that needed to be done so we did everything they recommended. I don't like to play games when it comes to fireplaces! They arrived on time, were very friendly, and cleaned up so you'd never know they'd been there. Now we're looking forward to the cooler weather so we can snuggle up by the fire with the knowledge that everything is safe and working properly!
