Charmed Chimney Service

Very poorly, extremely overpriced. While they did fix the main problem (which was leaks in the chimney) I had another company come out to inspect their work. They did the absolute minimal repairs, left cracks in the masonry, reattached broken bricks, did not resurface the top of the chimney, among other problems. They also massively over-charged me. Avoid completely.

From the estimate with Casey to the repairs and clean-up with Casey, Jamie, and Freddie, I was extremely pleased with my choice of contractor. These technicians were knowledgable and respectful. They addressed my concerns and worked efficiently. When calling the office, call backs were prompt and courteous. They worked with me to accommodate my schedule.

In the fall we had them look things over and they gave us a cost to do everything. We hadn't had it looked at in a long time and gets a lot of use. They told us we could wait until spring and gave us our written estimate. In May I called and scheduled and they were friendly and professional and left us with a safe chimney.

Surprising well! They were very punctual, cleaned up after themselves. Easy to work with and very professional. Am using them again in Spring to repair/clean other chimney. Highly recommend. Price fair compared to other estimates which ranged from $600-$1,000 difference!

The workers did a great job on the project. I had a crack that needed to be fixed in my fireplace. Two other companies wanted to parge the smoke chamber for around $750. Charmed explained that the chamber was already parged and doing it again was overkill. They fixed the crack for $100. They also did work on the chimney fixing and waterproofing my chimney. I had asked for a picture of the completed work but for some reason the picture didn't save. The owner of the company had the guys come back out after the job was completed and paid to go back on the roof to get me my photo. Really nice job and I would use them again.

They did a great job. Price was very fair. Other chimney companies tried to upsell me on items I did not need. I would use again and recommend. Very honest.

Thought I needed a new throat damper since it would not stay closed. Technician found it was not broken and did not need repair, just lubrication. They use top dampers and do not replace throat dampers, but I would have explored the replacement if necessary. Also got price for refractory panel replacement, which I will need in the future. Technician was prompt, courteous and honest about the needed repairs. I do not need the panel replacement right away since the cracks were small and the fireplace is used very little. I repaired with masonry cement for the short term, but I will call them when needed for the repair. The estimate was not the cheapest. I had it looked at earlier in the year with a chimney cleaning, but honesty sometimes means more than price. I will use them in the future for any cleaning or repair work.

The chimney flues had major cracks and were disintegrating, allowing smoke to seep out. Charmed Chimney installed metal liners in each and a top sealing damper in the basement flue. The installation took less than a day with 2 technicians, and the lead installer, Jason, did a good job communicating about the condition of the chimney and how the damper would function.

I don't remember the cost. They were pretty good.

Staff were quick and efficient. Had good recommendations that allowed me to feel confident about using my fireplace in the next season.

I was able to schedule an immediate inspection of our chimney. Jason and his assistant arrived the same day. Several work recommendations were made. However, even though another company had advised us to install a chimney liner along with other cosmetic repairs, and had completed a video screen, Jason did not think that we required a new liner. His explanation of the issue was reasonable and more straightforward than offered by the other company's representative. The work was completed within a week. We highly recommend Charmed Chimney Service.

The weather getting cold in the late Nov last year. Our pilot light for the radiator boiler always went off and therefore there is no heat in the house. We have another contractor came out and gave estimation of $3,900 to install a new stainless steel liner. So I call Charmed Chimney Service. They came out on-time. They didn't think replacing the liner is necessary. They proposed to do what is stated in last section. It costs me $375 instead. My Radiator has been run fine since. Owner brothers are honest, dependable, reliable with integrity. They are one of the best things happened to me in the year 2015.

I think I overpaid a little for it. I would use them in the future.

We called Charmed Chimney for a second opinion and estimate after meeting with another company and not feeling confident in the advice/estimate we received. Charmed Chimney responded promptly to initial calls, scheduled an appointment within a reasonable time frame, and showed up on time. They were professional and thorough, explaining what they were doing and each part of the work they recommended. They felt some of the work needed to be done ASAP due to potential safety concerns, and communicated that without any pressure or sense of a "scare tactic." The estimate was clear, specific, and broken down into sections so we could decide what we would do, and when. We decided to have them do the safety work now, and again they scheduled a date very quickly. The job was completed today they were prompt, professional, thorough and communicated clearly during the entire job. We plan to have them back to complete the rest of the recommended work within the year. Really pleased with the whole experience and happy to have a company that we can trust do this important work for our house.

I found Charmed Chimney Service rated very high on Angie's list so I contacted them for a price quote to repair the cracking around our chimney crown. I also contacted two other contractors for price quotes and lead times for the repair. I e-mailed Charmed Chimney a picture of our chimney crown with the cracked cement, they were the first to e-mail us their price quote and provide a date when the work would be done. When the other two companies replied they stated that they would have to visit then they would provide a price quote. We wanted to get this repair done as soon as possible and the other two companies would not be able to visit for weeks. We had a good idea what this job would cost for the repair so we hired Charmed Chimney Service. They came within a week, made the repair, e-mailed me a picture of the completed work. The job was completed in about 45 minutes. We were very pleased with the ease of doing business with them and highly recommend their services to anyone who needs chimney or crown repair. Thank You Charmed Chimney for a job well done, we will use you in the future for all chimney needs.

Technicians arrived on time. Provided very reasonable estimate. Their estimate was lower than estimates from two other chimney companies. They were there only to fix what was needed to be fixed. No sales pitch for unnecessay work. I felt the other two companies were trying to sell me on things that weren't necessarily needed. I called a home inspector ( for an independent opinion) who explained what was needed. His description of work matched that of Charmed Chimney. The work was not done that day but has been scheduled for a future date.

They scheduled me 3 weeks out from when they FINALLY returned my call to schedule the work. Then on the day of the work, they called to say they were on the way and showed up shortly afterwards. Then they asked me to show them the chimneys again. (I guess the guy forgot since it had been so long). There were two guys and I left them to do the work. Then about an hour and a half later, the guy calls me on my cell phone to tell me that they can't do the job at all because the cap makes it too difficult to access!!! I have to say that I am furious. I have waited MONTHS for these guys to do this work. They've looked at it twice to NOW tell me they can't do it?!?!?!? Now, it is going into Winter and I am going to have a very difficult time scheduling anyone to do this quickly. I am very unhappy.

After receiving a quote from another company that told me I needed a stainless steel liner and more repairs than I expected, I contacted Charmed Chimney Service. A family member, after obtaining multiple quotes, had decided to use this company. I checked Charmed Chimney Service on Angie's List and found they had a really good rating so I called them. They were prompt, friendly, professional, and after completely inspecting my chimney, received a very reasonable quote. Instead of a $2500 repair quote from another company, they gave me a quote for necessary repairs as I listed above for $770. The two guys who did the work did not waste any time, they gave me a detailed explanation of the condition of my chimney, and I did not feel like they were selling me on getting more work done than I needed. I have recommended this company to many others.

These guys were great. Showed up on time, were polite, did everything as promised and I had absolutely no problems. Easy to talk to and they worked the entire time they were here. It even took a little longer than they thought it would but no complaining from them. They just completed the work as promised. Very nice experience.

Great to work with. Bob was very quick to come and give an estimate. Work was done a week later per a detailed quote. Jobsite left very neat. Bob was very fair with us - I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Charlie and crew came out to provide an estimate and photos of needed repairs. The bricks were loose on one side of the chimney so I opted to have the mortar ground out and replaced instead of rebuilding the top 7 rows as suggested by another vendor. From photo's provided at the time of the estimate, the crown was poorly repaired in the past by the previous owner. I could clearly see the swipe line of a finger in the silicone. Unsure how that passed the home inspection but it did. Bob emailed me the quote then kindly adjusted for the addition of a cap. After arriving to complete the repair, Charlie and his crew got right to work. The repair took about an hour or so to complete. They were all packed up and I asked about the cap as the cost was lower than expected. Slight misunderstanding as the quote was for two but as mine was fine, only my neighbor needed one. This was not a problem and he got his ladder back out and installed the cap, took some photos of the completed work in a matter of minutes.
