Went well and we are pleased with the results

When I called to alert Abbey to issues, with the fence your company installed, it took weeks to send someone out. After you informed me you would only replace 3 of the 7 rotted posts, and “fix” a couple, AT MY COST, you did not return any of my honest but respectful calls to discuss the situation. When I phoned to ask why this wasn’t covered under your stated warranty, you did NOT return my call. When I called to ask how you intended to fix a post that was totally rotted, with nothing in the ground to fix, you did NOT return my call. When I asked if you could send a supervisor out to review the fence and situation with me, you did NOT return my call. When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau you did NOT respond. A fence under 5 years of age, should not have the majority of fence posts entirely rotting away unless it was improperly installed with poor workmanship and substandard materials. A respectful company would return calls. A reputable company would stand by their warranty. A trustworthy company would not lie.

They were pretty professional. They were a little more expensive than the others.

Had a wood privacy fence installed. Estimator was very helpful. Abbey installed a week early than promised. Crew did a great job. Cleaned up after job was completed. Fence is beautiful ! All in all an easy experience. Would recommend them.

Well. Installation was fast and well-executed. Price point was slightly higher than some competitors, but I found them to be a bit more professional/polished. Once the contract was signed, I did have to follow with a phone call to the office to see about a start date. If I remember correctly, they were simply waiting on the delivery of materials, but it would have been nice if they had reached out on their end. Regardless, this is a minor criticism and we are very pleased with the fence. Would hire again.

The sales staff was amazing, they took all of my interests and likes and helped me design a deck that is perfect and just what i wanted, The installation guys were so friendly and respectful and really treated my home like it was their own!! Great Job Abbey Fence!!!!

Everything went well. Sales rep was nice, the installers were nice and on time.

It did not go well- after I inspected their work I noticed many of the boards were missing some of the nails. Some boards were not overlapped properly due to incorrect spacing. Some issues with horizontal 2x4s being too short. After complaining Abbey inspected and made repairs. Later issues with fence leaning and sagging were difficult for me to resolve with them to the extent that I ended up fixing it my self which required digging around the posts and installing concrete to straighten the leanng posts. I would not recommend this company.

Their staff is very courteous and the work was done promptly. I was happy to discover the post would be replaced free of charge. Talk about great customer service!

Initially it went well when I called back 6 weeks later, he said he'd call me back later that day. Four days later he called back. Not only did he back track but suggested my job was more about posts and I could find a non fence organization to do the work. I decided my original company Long Fence who installed the fence could do the work. I used Long 2x before with no problems.

Getting the estimate was very easy. I had spoke to Dave (forget last name) on the phone, and based on two previous estimates from other companies, I knew exactly how to described what I wanted. He provided us with a rough verbal estimate. When I decided I was ready to move forward with the fence, I called Dave again to come out for the actual measurements and a real quote. He arrived promptly and we discussed what I wanted. We walked the proposed fence line, he measured and placed flags at the corners. He then did some quick calculations and provided me a quote. Of the 3 quotes I received from various companies, Abbey's was with $200 of the lowest, and they lead time was 2-3 weeks, instead of 4-6 that the other companies quoted me. It was a no-brainer to go with Abbey. I signed the contract on the spot. We received a call the day before the proposed installation. This is/was my only minor gripe. A little more heads-up, maybe 2-3 days, would have been nice. So the morning of the install, the wife decided she wanted to make a change in the layout. She moved one of the corner flags, increasing the length of the fence along 2 sides. We were not there that morning, and once the crew arrived, I got a call from Dave so we could discussed the change. We agreed on the changes and they started the install that day. They were done within 3 days and the fence looks fantastic. The posts are all sunk in concrete and incredibly sturdy. The gates are both very sturdy as well, and the locking pins into the ground are a nice touch. Zero complaints.

Even though they are a well known name in Maryland I would stay away from this company. I have a small yard and it took them a week to get my fence installed properly. The sales guy is just that...A SALES GUY. Once you sign the contract don't expect any help from them. Once the install starts plan to be there to babysit so it gets done correctly. I didn't do that and I paid a price for that. I was told that I would get a fence that kept my dog in...well my do got out so that didn't work out...thank goodness I got him back is all I can say. If you want attitude call the office and ask for assistance and you will be lucky to get it after the 3rd call. First 2 calls went well but I had to call 3 or more times to get my fence installed correctly. Also...if you leave a message don't expect a call back. They don't do that very well. If you request something special like 2 inch spaces between your pickets...make sure they have a spacer and are not just eyeballing it like they did for me. Also make sure they use the space even when the manager is not around. Got get me wrong my fence is beautiful but it took 5 days and a ton of calls to the office to get someone out to get my fence right. I should have had to walk around my yard and kick all the boards to make sure they were attached at the top, middle and bottom. I guess that is why I got some money off my quoted price because I did some of their job and had to babysit the crew(s) that were at my home for 5 days...and took 2.5 days off work to do it. I would not recommend this company to anyone as it is too much stress to get what you contracted for. I would have rather had a better crew that understood what I was asking of them and taken less time to do a better job. Nothing but attitude from all parties with the exception of the poor guy that had to come repair the horrible boards with knots and splits in them. He also had to align the lock and fix the nails that were missing. Overall...steer clear!

This actually turned out better than I expected; a nicer fence. They got it in very quickly. We did run into one issue, the initial measurements they took were wrong - they came up short by about 4'. However, they agreed to put the additional length in at no extra cost. Mistakes happen, and I appreciate that they took responsibility and corrected the error. They also completed the work much faster than anticipated.

Sales person was great. The crew took about a week for install (June). They had to come back and fix and adjust gates, wrong color caulk used things that should have been noted/fixed in a final walk thru (we did not have one). The crew rolled out on a Friday and we got final payment bill Monday. The crew to foreman could use some training in professionalism and dealing with customers properly. It seemed we got prioritized when they wanted to close the account (remaining balance due), which was August. The good news is we have not had any issues since. We had three estimates and all of them were about the same cost.

They did a great job. They were professional, courteous but yet friendly. We have a very difficult neighbor on that side of our property and they had to deal with her remarks and threats as well. We were having these fence installed because of the neighbors two rottweilers - one weighing 180 lbs and the other 120 lbs. They had already broken our 4 foot wooden fence. Within two days of Abbey finishing the installation, the 180 lb. dog broke out 2 of the panels. We called Abbey and they were back the next day. They said they would re-enforce the fence on the neighbor's side of the fence which would help with the dogs jumping on the fence. When they came back to re-enforce the fence, they found that even though the neighbor had gotten the panels back in, they were broken and had to be replaced. They had to replace 5 panels and they re-enforced the fence at no additional cost to us. We had originally used this company 23 years ago when we bought the house and were impressed with them then which is why we had them install the new fence. I would definitely recommend them to everyone.

Very well - the fence looks great.

they were professional and prompt. Quote was returned quickly. Only negative was the sales guy called OFTEN to check up on me. Can get annoying especially when you're waiting for other quotes. I had previously used them to install a fence on my yard. I was quite satisfied with that service and price.

It went very well. The crew showed up on time and completed the fence in less than 1 day.

Estimator was professional, courteous, and timely. Estimate was significantly lower than 2 of 3 other estimates, and about the same as the third. Scheduling was easy. A crew of three guys worked diligently to get the fence up in a day and a half. Work was completed with care and the workers were professional. I would use this company again.

I'm currently in discussions with Abbey Fence & Deck regarding fabrication & installation of a custom metal/wood privacy fence in my Baltimore City back yard. I first contacted this company over the summer at which time they were unresponsive. Because of that I wrote a pointed and critical review. Immediately after my review was posted the company contacted me and assigned a new salesperson. This salesperson has been very responsive and proactive this past month, providing an initial estimate, conducting a thorough site review and meeting, and subsequently provided a revised estimate. The project estimate is currently quite high due to the custom fence design. I have asked to help strategize/modify the design to better meet my budget and they have offered some materials solutions. Note: Abbey appears to be a build-only (not design-build) company so be aware. For example: I myself provided Abbey Fence dimensioned drawings ? a site plan and elevation. I asked if they could provide revised, dimensioned drawings to me based on our working design but thus far they have said no, that they do not provide drawings. All in all, I'm still actively considering Abbey Fence for this project and am appreciative of the responsiveness they've shown this past month.

I must say, the quality of these fences was inferior to the ones they previously installed. Approximately half of the vertical boards looked like they had been stored under cover, and the other half were weathered, so that the two groups did not stain consistently. Of more concern, though the contract says "treated pine," the boards have begun to cup slightly over time, whereas their previous installation only did this in one small spot. I suspect this is because the new boards are thinner. I have had to screw off several boards to keep them from becoming detached. The work itself was done quickly and efficiently using stainless steel nails, and they even braced the fence until the concrete dried to prevent the neighbor's fence from tilting my fence. As with most outside contractors, they left the soil they excavated from the post holes, which I understand but do not appreciate. Overall, I'm not sure I'd use these guys again. They claimed I got a discount, for being a previous customer, that was larger than the Angie's List discount, but who really knows if that's true? After all, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

I have used Abbey Fence in the past for both of my fences. Spending Thousands of dollars. I called yesterday because I needed help with a small fencing type repair. A few of the vinyl posts were damaged . They informed that the minimum job was $550.00. For the size of the job, that was ridiculous. There is only 1 damaged section. I understand that the company would probably not make much on this job, however, from a customer service standpoint they should have offered to help me out. I will not use Abbey Fence in the future for any of my fencing needs, and would not recommend their service.

Work performed on time and to spec. A good experience.
