Estimator was professional, courteous, and timely. Estimate was significantly lower than 2 of 3 other estimates, and about the same as the third. Scheduling was easy. A crew of three guys worked diligently to get the fence up in a day and a half. Work was completed with care and the workers were professional. I would use this company again.

I'm currently in discussions with Abbey Fence & Deck regarding fabrication & installation of a custom metal/wood privacy fence in my Baltimore City back yard. I first contacted this company over the summer at which time they were unresponsive. Because of that I wrote a pointed and critical review. Immediately after my review was posted the company contacted me and assigned a new salesperson. This salesperson has been very responsive and proactive this past month, providing an initial estimate, conducting a thorough site review and meeting, and subsequently provided a revised estimate. The project estimate is currently quite high due to the custom fence design. I have asked to help strategize/modify the design to better meet my budget and they have offered some materials solutions. Note: Abbey appears to be a build-only (not design-build) company so be aware. For example: I myself provided Abbey Fence dimensioned drawings ? a site plan and elevation. I asked if they could provide revised, dimensioned drawings to me based on our working design but thus far they have said no, that they do not provide drawings. All in all, I'm still actively considering Abbey Fence for this project and am appreciative of the responsiveness they've shown this past month.

I must say, the quality of these fences was inferior to the ones they previously installed. Approximately half of the vertical boards looked like they had been stored under cover, and the other half were weathered, so that the two groups did not stain consistently. Of more concern, though the contract says "treated pine," the boards have begun to cup slightly over time, whereas their previous installation only did this in one small spot. I suspect this is because the new boards are thinner. I have had to screw off several boards to keep them from becoming detached. The work itself was done quickly and efficiently using stainless steel nails, and they even braced the fence until the concrete dried to prevent the neighbor's fence from tilting my fence. As with most outside contractors, they left the soil they excavated from the post holes, which I understand but do not appreciate. Overall, I'm not sure I'd use these guys again. They claimed I got a discount, for being a previous customer, that was larger than the Angie's List discount, but who really knows if that's true? After all, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

I have used Abbey Fence in the past for both of my fences. Spending Thousands of dollars. I called yesterday because I needed help with a small fencing type repair. A few of the vinyl posts were damaged . They informed that the minimum job was $550.00. For the size of the job, that was ridiculous. There is only 1 damaged section. I understand that the company would probably not make much on this job, however, from a customer service standpoint they should have offered to help me out. I will not use Abbey Fence in the future for any of my fencing needs, and would not recommend their service.

I requested an estimate on fixing a fence and gate. Was told that their minimum cost for any job was $800 irregardless. Thought that was a bit high but oh well, moving on. Thought that was a bit high but oh well, moving on.

It went great. The fence looks beautiful and the job was completed ahead of schedule. They worked through tough winter conditions.

A representative came out to give me a free estimate in Spring 2014. I did not look at any of the other fencing options that they offer because I was only interested in a chain link fence for my dog. The rep was very punctual, cordial and not pushy. He measured my yard and gave me a written estimate of approximately $1800.00. He asked if I received any other price quotes and offered to beat the competition's price (which he did). Unfortunately, my plans fell thru and I had to put off getting a fence. I would definetly think about using them, once I am ready to have the fence installed.

Day one the crew showed up w/ the boss. The boss gave the crew their instructions and left. The crew tore down and removed all the old rotten wood fencing. They also tore down and removed a 100ft of chain link fencing. Then they dug 3ft deep postholes for the fence posts. The fencepost were then set in cement and allowed to cure. On day2 the crew arrived and porceded to build the fence and finish with adding the gate. They did a beautiful job.

The work was completed in a day. One custom cut to allow for tree roots at our desired placement for the fence. All work was completed professionally. Cleanup was thorough.

The install went fine except for some moldy fencing which was later removed by power-washing fence. My problem started with my salesman after install. I was quoted a price for an add-on to the and was told it needed to be manufactured at their headquarters and that it would take 3 hours. I was given very detailed information about how long and how complicated this add-on was. Well, when they can to do install the workers built and installed add-on in 20 minutes. I felt that I had been deliberately mislead by the salesman to pad the final bill and this was not what I had signed the contract for. It was problematic dealing with the salesman because he denied ever telling me the story about manufacturing time and difficulty. So here is where the biggest problem for me starts, after speaking with the salesman I decide to contact a manager to convey my issues. I speak with a secretary and specifically state that I am having a problem with a salesman and need to speak with a manager. I later get a call from the salesman that I had the problem with. I call back and get same secretary and again ask to speak to a manager and she transfers me to salesman AGAIN! After a third call someone else answers and transfers me to the general manager. The general manager showed little to no concern over the secretary's actions and did not even ask or show concern over issues with the salesman. I was still upset and confused on why this company provided no customer service when there were issues so I sent the following email to the GM: I recently recontacted your company after having a fence installed looking for an estimate and spoke to a female receptionist. I specifically asked for a manager because I had problems with my salesman XXXXXXXXXXXX. I was very clear that I did not want to speak to XXXX but your secretary took it upon herself to connect me with him anyway. She actually transferred me directly to xxxx. I find it highly unusual that a secretary went in exact opposition of my request to speak to a manager and went out of her way to do so. Is this how your business handles complaints? I also find it unusual that when speaking to you that you exhibited no concern or interest in a complaint over one of your employees. I'm not sure I can recommend or do business with anyone that doesn't handle their customers concerns professionally. I have never received a follow up email or phone call from anyone at Abbey Fence and based on this can never recommend this company to anyone. I'm not sure if they ignore me because they have already been paid or the just don't care. Regardless I do not trust them and would never do business with them again.

I had to call them twice for a quote. When I got it, they told me I needed work that I did not need. They said I needed to replace a broken latch, a broken picket on the gate, and a broken gate post. The latch is not broken, there is no broken picket, and the gate post is not broken. I don't whose house they were at or what gate they looked at, but it clearly wasn't mine. Or they were trying to sell me services I didn't need. I will not use them.

The salesman who arrived for the estimate was extremely curtious, professional and helpful. He ensured that I had all the necessary information and more as it related to the product and the installation. Once I received approval from my HOA and could move forward with the project things came together a lot quicker then expected!!! Initially I was told that it would be 2-3 weeks once the product was ordered to schedule the install. It ended up being under 2 weeks. Although Mrs.Utilities had not marked the yard and my yard had not been staked yet, Abbey Fence got it done immediately before scheduling the installation. Abbey Fence worked with me with no issue when scheduling the installation, so that I could be present. Due to weather, we had to push back the install one day, but I was notified promptly. The crew arrived before our scheduled appointment and worked diligently to get the job done before the end of the day. I am extremely pleased with the craftsmenship and the quality of the product. Unfortunately, my gutter was pulled away from the house during the install, but Abbey Fence corrected this minor issue no questions asked!!!

We received quotes from three companies, Abbey included. Abbey's quote not only outbid the other two, but was also the only one that showed a detail of everything they were charging, breaking it down by materials, labor, permits and fees, and profit. It was very encouraging to deal with an honest and transparent salesman. We had an unique situation with our fence; we live in a townhouse with no back alley, and a retaining wall behind us. We agreed with our next-door neighbor to work together so that we could have our fence without blocking their access to go around back; Abbey was very flexible and understanding, and they came up with the solution of building the neighbors a small gate between our fence and the retaining wall, which pleased us all. Once we signed the contract with Abbey, they estimated 1-2 weeks before the work would start. Due to all the snow we had to deal with, the project was delayed one week, which was completely understandable. They called the day before to inform us they would be coming in the next day, and that the job would be done in a day. The crew showed up on time, and worked very fast. They finished the fence in about 5-6 hours, but had to come back the next day to place the caps on the poles, which was not an issue. The crew was very professional and polite. We really have no complaints.

They came out the next day after my call. They sent me a written estimate within three working days and completed the job within another 3 working days. Since I had dogs, I really appreciated their responsiveness.

They came the next day to look at our property. Emailed the estimate the day after and installed the fence within a week. We are very happy with the results.

Mike came out exactly on time and provided a written quote for the job. His quote was in line with the other companies in the area and he threw in some extras (larger poles, extra fabric) to close the deal. I told him that I wanted it done ASAP and he said it would be about three weeks for the start. I was happy when they called me in one week and said they could start the job the next day. The crew knew their stuff but did use all hand tools (post hole diggers etc) which surprised me. They did have to go out and buy concrete at a local store; they should have had something like that on the truck. They where slower than I expected by about 33%- thought 150 foot chain link should take two days and it took them three. The time estimate was my guess and not any representation from them so that should not be a negative for the company. I did notice, about a week later that they were short two pole caps and did not say anything or offer to bring them back at a later date. The caps are cheap and I will get them at the next visit to the local box store but I was disappointed that they did not tell us about the small shortfall. I would recommend them and was happy with the final result.

Job began on a Friday. They botched the post placements, then the crew leader lied to my husband that Dave (project mgr.) had come to okay the incorrect placement. He was very rude, argued about having to fix it and made it clear there was never any intention to return Sat. to finish the job. We called and emailed the office immediately, as we were promised we would not be without a fence for the weekend. Neither our call or email was responded to, ever. The crew returned that Mon. only to AGAIN not finish because they "ran out of boards". Said they would return Tues AM. By 11 AM Tues, no one had come to finish the job. When we called to ask what was going on, we were told they had our job marked as complete. Another crew showed up later to finally finish the job. No one followed up with us about how badly the job went. We simply got a bill in the mail. My husband later spoke to Matt in sales and he had no concern for our bad experience, only about getting us to pay.

Job completed in one day. Workers arrived on time and stayed until job was completed.

The fence is going to be about 350 linear feet mixed between picket and privacy. Their estimate was right in line with other estimates we received. Mike the salesman was fantastic. He showed up on time, was friendly and professional. I ended up going with another company only because there was a very small difference in price. I heard just as many good things about Abbey as we heard about the company I went with. Mike did a follow up call to find out what I had decided and was disappointed we had decided to use a different company. I told him the company I decided to use and he told me that they were great guys and I should be very happy with my fence. That is truly a class act. I was very impressed. One company that came out to give me an estimate actually came in the lowest but talked trash about their competitors. That was such a turn off. Although I didn't use Abbey, I would recommend them to anyone.

The crew did a execellent job, the workmanship is great.
