Description of Work: I had an antique chest that was damaged and needed repair. I called Rudolph and he was available the next day. Rudolph was very prompt, courteous and professional. He had the chest repaired in a couple days. I'm not an expert in furniture repair, so the price seemed a little high to me. But the quality of the work he did was fine.

See "What did the provider do..." Nothing!
Description of Work: Nothing. The first time I called him, he requested that I return the call that night as he did not have a pencil or paper to take down my information. The second time I called him, he found a pencil and paper and said, "I will call you when I'm going to be out your way" which was in the same town as his business. Its been 2 weeks or more and I still have not heard from him. Very nice gentleman, but no idea what happened to him. He just didn't seem interested in doing the job which entailed refinishing a small cocktail table that I could have loaded in my car and brought to his 'workshop...' Strange!

This is the third time I have had him work on old family chairs over the past few years. His work is excellent and well worth what he charges. He is extremely fast with the work. When he picks up the job he repairs them and returns them. They do not sit in his warehouse until he gets to them. Would highly recommend him for furniture restoration.

He did expceptional work, especially for the price, which also included travel time. He was on time, and actually finished before the date he quoted me with. He was very personable and an overall friendly guy. I expected him to repair the wicker on my chair, he went above and beyond and completely replaced it. Words really can't describe how excellent his work is. His work goes beyond what he did for me, he does all types of woodwork. I assume it is just as magnificent as what he did for me. I will be contacting him in the near future to do more furniture work. I highly recommend him.

The process was as good as we could have expect. Mr. Pulley came to our house shortly after we called hime, he promply gave us a firm cost and delivery estimate. He brought back the refinished furniture in two weeks..
Description of Work: The job was refinishing our well worn dining area furniture. It included removing the old finish from four, fifty-year-old colonial dining room chairs, regluing as necessary, sanding some rungs where the dog had chewed during a thunderstorm, and also refinishing four legs from the matching dining room table. Mr. Pulley came to our house, evaluated what had to be done and gave us a quote of cost and timeframe which we thought was appropriate. We agreed and he took the chairs and legs to his shop. Two weeks + 1 day as projected, he brought them back. They looked brand new and we were delighted. From our discussions, Mr. Pulley apparently has had extensive experience in furniture repair. He apparently started in the field by repairing piano woodwork and then worked for Ethan Allen repairng a wide array of furniture. We were very pleased with the quality of his work.............the chairs and table legs were refinished as new. In addition, the dog chew marks in the rungs were totally eliminated. We have examined the chairs and cannot tell which chair the dog had chewed. Mr. Pulley's craftsmenship in this area is exceptional in our opinion. Thanks to Angie's list for providing the contact link to Mr. Pulley and his talents. Carol and Ted

Description of Work: We have used Mr. Pulley for several projects and have been more than thrilled every single time. I entrusted him with pieces from my parent's home - including an old wardrobe, a dining buffet and my grandparents treasured rocking chairs. He has helped bring my family closer to me through the quality of his work and bringing these pieces back to life! Couldn't be more pleased with his work!

Mr Pulley arrived in a pick-up , examined the maple dresser-mirror combo, gave an estimate ($750) for staining/refinishing which I accepted. He took the items to his shop and returned them to me in a few days, earlier than he had estimated it would take. The workmanship appeared at the time to be satisfactory. I then had him give an estimate for refinishing a rather small bedroon table with drop-down leaves. No staining was involved. The estimate was $350, which I accepted; I thought the price was high, but his work on the dresser-mirror appeared to be very good. Mr Pulley returned in a few days with the finished table. When he took it off the truch, I asked him to put down to examine it. He put it down for a few secionds, but before I could get a good look, he picked it up and put it in the house. (I know -- I should have stopped him.) When the table was placed in the bedroom, I examined it and found that the work was unsatisfactory. The finished surface had numerous little bumps in it -- as if the finish had been put on before the top of the table had been wiped off. I pointed this out to Mr Pulley and he wanted to try to fix it right there. I would not agree to this -- I told him that the defects in the work were obvious to anyone who ran a hand over the surface, and that the table ought to have been examined at the shop before bringing it to me. I insisted that he take it back with him. He returned with the table the next day. The defects had been removed; I paid him his money, but I was left with a very bad feeling about the transaction. Two months ago I was looked at the refinished mirror (in a seldomly-used guest room) and saw that the work had not been as good as I had previously thought. Two or three spots on the corner of the mirror are rough and have what appears to be some sort of white efflorescence; one of them is over two inches long. Not what one expects to find after spending $750. I've considered contacting him, but rather than go through the hassle, I'll probably have someone else fix it.
Description of Work: The Services were performed by Rudolph Pulley2002 Allis StreetAnnapolis, MD 21401Home: 410-266-0049Cell: 410-279-1777 Mr Pulley worked on three furniture items of ours: he stained and refinished a matching maple bedroom dresser and mirror, and refinished a small table with drop panels. The service date is a guess, as Mr. Pulley did not date his estimate/receipt.

The stool had been smashed when I'd stepped abruptly down onto it at a bad angle from higher up on a counter top. Some of the support rungs at the bottom had broken, snapping off right where they joined the leg, and all the legs had broken off the body of the stool, one pretty messily, taking extra wood with it. The cover over the cushion top had also come untacked in several places. The stool had basically been flattened. It took about a week to get Mr Pulley on the phone and since I lived nearby I was able to bring it to home. He quoted a price within about 5 minutes of looking it over and I said, "Yes!" He said that it would take about a week to repair, but that evening I got a call saying that he'd worked on the stool all day and it was done! I picked it up the next morning and it looked fabulous!! Perfect! Beautiful! He'd even plumped up the cushion top a bit for improved sitting comfort ;) Mr. Pulley is a genuine furniture HERO! Thank you, Mr. Pulley!
Description of Work: Mr. Pulley repaired a severely broken antique wooden cushion-top stool, glueing it back together, plumbing up the cushion and re-affixing the fabric cover. He completed the work in one day! And it looks fabulous and solid once again!

Job was beautifully and lovingly executed and got everything done within a week so that I am ready for all my Thanksgiving and Christmas guests. This man has a real passion for his craft. A rarity in this day and age.
Description of Work: I had six dining room chairs redone new padding and fabric (I supplied the fabric), plus two regular chairs reupholstered (again, I supplied the fabric). Plus a bit of refinishing. Mr. Pulley did a lovely job with chairs. These dining room chairs were not antiques by any stretch of the imagination, but they were one of the few things my mother left me, so they have alot of sentimental value, but every Holiday Season, my guests were sinking deeper and deeper into the chair. Mr. Pulley fixed these beautifully and also removed all the build up from the furniture cleaner. Just a lovely job. My husband's two chairs look fabulous. He's very attached to his teak "man chairs," but I left them in the garage because they looked so horrid. Again, Mr. Pulley did a beautiful job and these were very tricky chairs. Highly recommend Mr. Pulley.

He did such a nice job. You cannot even tell that it was ever broken. He's a meticulous professional and a very nice person to work with. He offered a very fair price. He brought the chair back and looked at another piece of furniture that I eventually want to have repaired. I would trust him with any valuable piece of furniture that I have. I have recommended him to other people and I would use him again.

I called Mr. Pulley and because he lives in Annapolis and I was in downtown Baltimore, we arranged that he would call me on my cellphone next time he was coming through Baltimore and I would come home from work and meet him. I did have to call him again a week or so later because I hadn't heard from him, but once I did that he arranged to meet me at a specific time. He came at exactly the time he said he would and took a look at my dresser. We talked about what I wanted done and he said that he could do that and gave me an estimate. He loaded the dresser onto his truck with lots of care. We arranged that he would drop off the dresser about two months later. I called him when we got closer to the date and he was right on schedule. We arranged a time to meet and he was again very prompt in dropping it off. The dresser looks fabulous and he was very good at delivering exactly what I'd asked for--I'd wanted the dresser to look as original as possible and retain the patina that had developed over the years. I would definitely use Mr. Pulley again. He was an old-school craftsman who was clearly trained very well and knows what he's doing.

He repaired the arm of a very old oak dining room chair (about 200 years old) that has broken at the same weak point of attachment to the back of the chair several times. This is the best, most stable repair I've ever had (had the table and chairs since 1962). VERY satisfied and the cost less than ever before.

Mr. Pulley was recommended to me by another craftsman who is refurbishing my piano. Mr. Pulley came to my house to look at the piano and I asked him to look at these other pieces. He made arrangements to come pick up the pieces within a couple of days. He and his helper arrived on time. They were very respectful of the walls in my new home as well as the furniture as they were carrying it out. The work was completed promptly. Mr. Pulley called me to come see it to be sure it was to my satisfaction. It most certainly was! I can't wait to see the piano!
Description of Work: I have some antique pieces of furniture that were my grandmothers. The chifferobe was built in 1911. It had a broken foot, the back was half off, and there wasn't a key for it. Mr. Pulley repaired everything and refinished the piece. He also refinished and repaired a dressing table and stool which is over 60 years old. I can't even tell the places that were repaired since his craftsmanship is so great.
