Fence Menders

Dan came out and looked at it and fixed it while he was there. The first place I called was going to charge me $80 just to look at it.

Initially Dan (owner) was highly recommended to me by another Landscaper (Central Mass Landscaping) who provided excellent input. From that endorsement I researched Fence menders on Angie's list and found the outstanding reviews. I called and e-mailed Dan and we scoped out the project and cost. I was provided comparison quote form a different company far above Fence menders number. I went with Dan and could not be happier. The install came out great and straight. The install took a day and a half in December. It was somewhat cold and Dan and his team were on time and were all very courteous. We are so pleased that we will be using Dan's services again this upcoming year to augment his install. So if you need a good quality fence install without all the nonsense, Fence menders is your company. Can't say enough. Thanks for the read.

What stood out: knowledge and expertise and being able to really do their business in how they operate and make the homeowner comfortable with the process. It went pretty well in making me understand what was required and how they were going to accomplish what they needed to accomplish. Price was comparable with other places, maybe less than some. Based on their reviews in Angie's List, more of the reason I went with them, with others, they were similarly priced.

They were an A. They did a good job.

Dan was great to work with. He came out multiple times to finalize the plan and fence styles. His delivery was prompt and the final product is outstanding. Sorry about the late review!!

We are so happy with the whole experience of working with Fence Menders! Dan first came out to my house a year ago to give me an estimate. We couldn't have the work done until this year and he was great about setting up a date that worked for us. We were originally only going to replace part of the fence and fix the rest, but, we decided to replace it all, including the gate, and are SO glad that we did. It looks GREAT. Dan had to go back and get more panels to do the job, but, did that without any hesitation so that the job could be finished that day. The workmanship is wonderful. Dan and his crew were here right on time and worked hard through a really hot, humid day. They were polite and respectful of our property. Thank you to Dan and your crew!

The entire process - from quote to installation - was great. Dan's was the most comprehensive and stress-free of four on-site quotes I obtained for this job. He worked with my timing of waiting on a border survey, which was very helpful. On installation, the team arrived promptly when expected, were pleasant, and efficient. The installation was slated to last two days, and was right on time. The fence looks fabulous, and Dan was great about working with me on multiple gates with different sizes. In the end, his recommendation of a 4-foot fence to contain my large dog was perfect, and we are already enjoying the newly-enclosed space. Thanks, Dan!

Best experience with a company that I have ever had. Superb craftsmanship, terrific to deal with, and very attentive to the preferences of the customer. Plus their bid was the lowest of the three I received. I give Dan and Fence Menders my highest recommendation!

It was a pleasure working with Dan. He was a bit busy and my schedule was flexible, so we would be in touch about once a week to see how his schedule was evolving. I wanted advanced notice because I wanted to be there while the work was done. (I'm fussy and I always want to be at home in case there are *any* questions, and in case I see something not going as I had envisioned.) Dan and his 2 workers showed up. Did the work. It was getting a bit dark towards the end of the job. The next day I reviewed their work. There were a few things that needed to be adjusted, and they had left behind some old concrete (which they'd had removed/replaced) from one of the chain link posts. On the picket fence there were 3 pickets that weren't quite in line with the rest. And one chain link post cap hadn't been replaced. I contacted Dan. He and his guys came out and took care of all issues this morning.

We needed a backyard fence this past June. Dan provided a good price and in three weeks, as promised they were here and 3.5 days later, the fence was in. Recently when a minor problem occurred, he had two men here within a couple days. They spent a half day and resolved the problem entirely. No charge. No haggling.

We had contacted a fencing company we know of who did come out to see us and indicated they wanted the job but then never heard from them again. Calls and email's were not returned so we decided to use Angie's List. Based on the ratings and positive reviews we contacted Dan at Fence Menders. He came out to check out the job and I got the immediate impression is that this guy is a straight shooter. They did an excellent job. As I was home when they did the job and I was very surprised at how extensive and precise the installation process is. We would have liked to have spent less but decided this is a one time job so lets go with the higher end products which will add value to our home. We were very pleased with the result. The ornamental aluminum railings are pricey but they give our house a big boost in curb appeal. The elegant and robust appearance jumps right out at you when you drive up to the house.

Dan and his team were polite, on time, efficient, precise and very neat. All went well, including dealing with a difficult neighbor and a hilly terrain. They were wonderful and very skillful.

We had very good experience with Fence Menders. They were very responsive when we called for quote. When Dan, the main contact, came, he looked at the existing fence carefully and explained the options we had (repair vs. replace) fairly and patiently. The estimation they gave is almost the same as the other quote we had, but Dan won us simply by giving us the feeling of trust in the details of interactions. After the decision was made, they only took 10% deposit, came to our house on schedule, and did excellent job in installing the fence. At the end, Dan impressed us by registering the warranty and sending the final receipt the very next day after the installation. It's not easy to get a contractor to do the follow-up work after the payment was made, but Dan did it without any delay.

Communication was hit n' miss, including timing and clarity, but the work itself was done very, very well.

I had a gate post out of alignment and several parts of the fence could use some adjustment. I really only cared about the gate post as the gate doesn't close properly. They proposed a time when I wasn't available, so I said either we could do it later or they could come and fix the post & fence while I was away. I specifically asked they leave a note detailing what was done. When I got home after the "service" I could tell someone had been there as the bungee cord on the gate was removed and the latch screw adjusted slightly. There was no note, the pole was still out of alignment and the gate still didn't work properly. The parts of the fence that hadn't looked good before appeared unchanged. I tried to contact them by phone and email to learn what they had done and request they they return to fix the post, but never got a response. After posting this review, they contacted me to say they had actually walked the property and added some fence ties. They claimed that straightening the post would be an extra charge (again, I only learned this upon posting a negative review more than a month after the "service"). The coupon had explicitly included "straightening posts", but apparently not my post. The post is a standard black metal chain link post, so I'm a little unclear on what made it special.

These guys were great! We had no problems and they did a fabulous job at a reasonable price!

The new fence looks great. Installed on a hilly, large lot. I don't know about the price. I used the Angie's Deal, so I assumed it was competitive. But the results worth it. I just hope it lasts!

I received an estimate by email after Dan checked out the situation. It was especially easy because I didn't have to be there. After receiving the estimate I had 2 more potentials. Potential one came with a photo book of all his work, excectthere were no fences. Potential 3 didn't show up on the day I was to meet him. Having left work early I was not pleased and immediately accepted Dan's estimate. He also spent some time discussing the different options. We communicated by e-mail about timing which was great so no phone tag occurred. We could each respond when we had a minute. The fence was done in 1 day (yesterday) and I am thrilled. iIt looks perfect. My estimate is what I paid. I am really glad things went so smoothly, I find getting things in home 'fixin' very trying. It was great to meet a reliable professional. I have other fence that will need replacing soon and I will be calling Dan.

I am needing pool grade fencing and that Big Deal doesn't cover that type of fencing.

For the price of the Big Deal it wasn't worth it for the work that the company completed.

They came out in November and worked around my schedule. I came back in January and the work was done and it was AWESOME! They answered all of my questions and were extremely professional. I really trusted them and they did incredible work. Their price was extremely fair as well. I will use them again.

Very badly. He did not show up on the first day. He did not show up on any other day. I then phoned him, I think at least 5 times. I left messages, asked him to please return my call. He never called me back. Very poor form. Inexcusable. Additional comment: after never responding to my multiple calls and voice messages, it was remarkable how rapidly he responded to to my review. I acknowledge that he has garnered a slew of extremely favorable reviews. Which made it highly surprising, and upsetting, about his delinquency in my case.

The project went very well. Dan met with me measured the property precisely, explained the process, and gave me an estimate I couldn't refuse. I had received two other estimates for the same work and Dan's was very fair and much more within my budget. His team installed the posts on the first day, then attached the chain link fencing the second day and put on the gates plus "finishing touches" the final day. Dan and his installers worked together like a "well oiled machine" and I had so much confidence in the professionalism of Fence Menders I did not even feel the need to be at the house during installation. I did however enjoy seeing the progress of their fine work each day as the fence I wanted and needed took shape. The end result is wonderful! I get many positive comments on how nice it looks and requests for the name of the installer....which I am happy to share! Dan is a skilled professional with several years of experience and a great deal of pride in his work. All this added up to the pleasure of having the fence just as I requested and making for one very satisfied customer. I would recommend Fence Menders without hesitation to anyone who wants quality workmanship and good people. I am looking forward to spring when Dan Beland and company will return to install a lovely picket fence along the front of my yard because I know I will get the quality fence I want at a price I can, happily, afford. No details needed. They did everything they promised for the price that was quoted. Work was done professionally and within a short time span. Each fence post hole was dug by hand and everything was leveled. I am very happy with the work.
