They have been fantastic. They came out were prompt, they brought and left us samples of different products. They brought a whole photo book of prior work and gave us addresses so we could go see.
Description of Work: They came up and gave us an estimate to repair some outside crumbling front steps.

We called Bonanno Construction based on ratings and comments from Angie's List as there didn't appear to be even one negative comment about the company's work. The day we left a voice message, Louie Bonanno returned our call and arranged to come that weekend (for our convenience) to provide us with an estimate, which turned out to be lower than other quotes we had received. Louie's professionalism and knowledge, the pictures of his work that he shared, and his reputation from Angie's list sealed the deal. Three of his men took a day and a half to install granite on the facings, sides, and steps. At our request, they also patched some concrete on our flagstone walkway and took away a concrete base from an old basketball hoop as a favor. Louie also put us in touch with an iron craftsman who could rebuild our wrought-iron railings. In every way, the work Louie and his team performed was exceptional, and we are unconditionally pleased with the results. Plus, Louie is, bottom-line, a truly nice, up-right guy. We will use Bonanno to replace our front walk, when we are ready. We recommend him without reservation .
Description of Work: We had our front steps rebuilt and patched the flagstone walk.

It went well, Louis was very punctual and responsive (though his accent was hard to understand at times!). Met him at the stone yard to pick out the pavers, and he was very helpful. The work crew arrived on time, and got to work immediately. They finished the whole job in one day, and it looks great.
Description of Work: Replaced front walk and steps, put in pavers to make a patio in the back where a patch of dirt was.

The front porch looks beautiful. They did a great job. They did all of the work in two days, and were very professional. They did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwords as well. The back steps also look beautiful. And they gave a very good deal on the back steps given that they were doing the work on the front porch.
Description of Work: They replaced the front porch (entryway to the house) with granite. They needed to remove the previous top two inches, and then put in an entirely new porch. In addition, they added an new step, and redid the surfaces on all steps. They also replaced the stairs from the bulkhead in the back of the basement.

Quick response to the initial call and honest estimate. It took a couple weeks to actually schedule the work. We had the experience of having the work done immediately prior to a major series of summer storms. The day after the work was completed, but before the new cement/adhesive had cured, we had another big rain. We had a leak. I called and Louie Bonanno (owner) came over the very next morning to apply an additional sealer. He also made a recommendation that we get someone to add another downspout to carry water away from the house; his contact came over the next day and did that for a reasonable price (John Mucci). Since then, three days of continuous rain and big storms and not a drop has come inside. Feels like money well spent!
Description of Work: During big rains, foundation wall was leaking around the sewer discharge pipe where the brickwork mortar appeared to be failing. Prior homeowner efforts at patching with hydraulic cement hadn't worked; Bonanno cut out the old mortar and applied new adhesive and sealer inside the foundation wall.

I called Louie Bonanno on July 14 and he said he would give a call on the the 15th to set up a time to look over the job. As promised, he called me the next day and we met to get an estimate for the project. His efficiency and professionalism were evident. His estimate was reasonable. He has 15 workers so he can do several jobs at the same time. Due to the stairs being in such sad shape he committed to start the job on the 17th of July. He said his firm would arrive somewhat before 8AM on that day. The stairs would be built with brick risers/sides and granite stairs and platform. He suggested granite as opposed to bluestone because it resists salt and retains its color better. The price for bluestone or granite would be the same. The job promptly started at 8AM that day and was completely finished by 2:30PM. The finished product was excellent because the construction crew were very skilled. The project was finished so quickly because there were 3 to 4 workers involved at all times. You could tell that they worked together a lot because they knew how to support one another, which kept the project going smoothly. This was accomplished despite it was above 90 degrees, humid and in full sun the whole time. The clean-up was 99% effective. I had to rake a small portion of the lawn to remove a very small amount of debris which the workers could not see. In a nutshell, I would hire this firm in a heartbeat.

They were a pleasure to work with. Louie came out to give me a quote the morning after I called him. He was by far the lowest quote we were given for the job (with the most highly rated reports on the list). He promised it would be a flat $500, and it was. Since it was a small job, we kept the schedule loose for them, but he called me up within a week or so and stopped by the next day. They did a beautiful job and we are very happy with their work and how quickly and professionally they worked. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again. Most of the other quotes and estimates I got were more than double the amount for the same work!
Description of Work: Our front steps are made of brick and this winter the bottom step came away from the other steps and started to come apart. Louie Bonanno and his team tore down the bottom step, fixed the step's cement foundation, and built a new brick stair with bricks that matched the existing stairs.

The Bonanno team was nothing short of amazing. The Bonanno brothers descended on our property in Arlington early one morning with a team of about 10 workers and equipment and transformed our backyard in two days, start to finish. They built a special ramp so that they could get machinery into our backyard and worked from from light to dark until the job was complete. They do a lot of work in hilly Arlington Heights, so they have experience with the drainage and other issues (getting big machines in narrow spaces between houses) common to the neighborhood. They worked closely in tandem with CRS Irrigation, which did a excellent job installing a irrigation system and laid sod, so that the job was treated as one project--seamless. When I had questions about the completed wall, Tino and his brother came back at 8:30 the same night and answered all my questions. Bonanno construction is extremely professional and they take great pride in their work. The other estimates we received from masonry contractors on the List were a few hundred bucks less than Bonanno, but one contractor was going to take two weeks to do the job (using cheaper materials) and the other would have used much cheaper building materials. I could not have been happier with our choice. I would hire Bonanno again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Bonanno Construction built a 48 ft long and 4 ft. high retaining wall (with a 12 ft. return up one side) at the bottom of my severely sloping backyard, cleared the backyard of brush and backfilled the yard with fill and loam to level the yard.

They showed up on time and got right to work. The crew was very good. They had to remove a small bit of asphalt in one area I wanted bricked. Under that was two layers of cement. No problem, the guys removed it. The path was around 26 feet long with a small rectangular area by my back door. The whole job took only 2 hours and that included a quick break. They were professional and efficient. Cleaned up and took away the debris. The only thing I might have changed was to ask them to make the path flat. The path has a rise in the middle. I think because of a tree stump to the left and the fact they kept the height from where it started consistent to the end. Since the previous path was flat I assumed this one would be too, but it's not anyone's fault. The walk still looks good. I'm pleased with the result.
Description of Work: I wanted a stone path/walkway installed to replace what was a long strip of pea gravel, dirt and weeds. I called Bonanno Construction on a Friday morning. They called back that afternoon and scheduled an visit for that sat morning. The initial call was a little difficult because the man on the phone did not speak English well but his son, Tino, came out for the estimate and he was great. I got the estimate and a book with stone options. Tino also gave me some suggestions after I told him what I wanted. I called back later that day asking if he could get me in the end of week since I would be home. He said he would call and let me know either way. He was finishing another job and not sure. Since my job was small, he was able to do it.

We called three masons, to get quotes from. Two returned our calls and gave us estimates. We chose to go with Bonanno because we really liked the examples of granite work that Louie brought to show us. He was terrific to work with and made great suggestions for things we should think about doing. In addition to doing the stairs, he also patched a retaining wall in the back yard and fixed some other broken masonry around the house. The crew worked incredibly quickly. They were done in two days! We expected to be inconvenienced for much longer. Louie told us that he likes to have clients for life. He has that with us.
Description of Work: We have about 20 steps, with three landings, going up to our front door. The bottom half of the steps are concrete that have been continuously patched over the years. The top half of the steps are brick and slate. The bricks had started falling out on various steps and much of the mortar was broken and loose. After determining that the structure of the stairs was sound (phew!), Bonanno covered the concrete part of the stairs with granite. He also replaced and/or repointed the brick part of the stairs. Eventually, we will likely redo the top steps to match the bottom steps, but it wasn't in the budget just now.

Mr. Louis Bonanno returned my call immediately, set up a time to meet at the job site, and did meet me on time. He was knowledgeable and experienced and freely shared his knowledge. The work was begun quickly and completed ahead of schedule. Louie suggested that they install a PVC pipe underneath the walk so we could extend the sprinkler system without having to dig in the future. He also added a stone border to a pair of shrubs at no charge. The workers cleaned up nicely when the job was finished. He promptly had a liability/workers comp insurance binder sent over at our request before the work was started. We are very pleased with the job.
Description of Work: Louie and his team removed an old slate front walk and two flights of brick stairs, and replaced them with new granite using flagstones for the walk and risers, and cut slabs for the stair treads. They also capped an existing stone wall bordering our driveway with granite slabs.

Although he forgot to come to the first appointment he was very apologetic and after that he was very responsive. He arrived on time, gave me an estimate right away, and called me within two weeks to say he was ready to do the job, a fast turnaround given that he had to find the granite. I told him to pick a granite for me because I have no eye for color, and it looks great. He and his men did the job in one day and left the area clean. They also fixed a stone step that was incorrectly installed and fixed some broken mortar on another set of steps that same day. They were polite, quiet, and efficient. I would definitely use them again. By the way, some people have said his English is hard to understand. I have no problem with accented English and found him easy to understand, but if it's a problem for you just be patient. He's intelligent and well-spoken and doesn't mind repeating himself.
Description of Work: We had a grill and outdoor refrigerator surrounded by stone with a countertop. When the outdoor refrigerator stopped working we discovered that the person who built the stone surround actually cemented our appliances in. Bonanno removed the countertop and excavated the grill and refrigerator, built a frame around the inside of the stone surround and put the appliances back. Also he recommended using granite instead of limestone for the countertop because the limestone is porous, so he found a nice piece of granite and put that in. He also made a channel in the stone to reroute a cord that had been hanging out the top of the grill. He was amazed at how poorly the job had been done in the first place.

It went very well. Louie Bonanno is a very friendly guy. They called back when contacted, arrived up when scheduled, and completed the work on time. The price was as quoted. I'm very happy with their work and professionalism. Hopefully no more water leakage into the basement!
Description of Work: We had a problem with leaking in our basement. They dug a 3 foot deep trench along one side of house foundation (about 30 feet long) and filled in the exposed stone foundation (built 1861) with concrete to seal and prevent leakage into basement. They also patched up crumbling stone work on a corner in the basement with concrete.

Louie Bonanno responded in a timely manner, came by to assess the job, and communicated with me by phone prior to the actual work. His son was the foreman on the job that day & was easy to work with. The 'crew' (maybe 8 guys!) came Saturday morning and were done before noontime. They cut lally columns to fit with footings flushed with the floor. The foundation walls were pointed and bulkhead walls patched up. I forgot to ask about the debris but they took it away except for some of the wood that would be useful in the future (which I agree). Good experience overall.
Description of Work: The brick foundation of 100+ yr old rowhouse needed pointing work. The bulkhead also had cracks that needed to be filled as heavy rainwater would come in. The LVL beam needed proper support columns & footings to replace the temporary jack columns and raised concrete footings sitting on the dirt floor.

Louie Bonanno is an experienced paver and mason, with a large and skilled team able to do sizable projects (well, this one anyway!) quickly. He was very responsive, we talked informally about what we wanted, and trusted that Louie would know how to get it all done. And he did, in short order (the whole job took less than 2 full days, another bidder estimated 3 or 4 days for the driveway alone!) and providing exactly what we wanted (the other bidder wanted a lot more money for the paver's we used, and hesitated on the cobble edging). Louie s son Tino was the supervisor for the job, and both he and his brother Bobby are kind, accommodating professionals. The whole job went very smoothly, his crew was careful and boy do they work. We are very happy with the results and will work with them again! Folks comment on how everything looks and how well the project went, it s quite something.
Description of Work: Removed concrete driveway, berms and topsoil from portion of yard, and replaced them artfully with paver's (driveway and patio) and granite cobble edging for driveway and flowerbed. Removed chain link fence and concrete pad in front of house, replaced with a flower bed behind a slab field stone wall with a blue stone cap. Repaved selected areas around the house (including front entrance) with sections of blue stone.
