Phil Perrin, the carpenter, came the day after Hurricane Irene roared through New England, Monday, August 29. He'd been able to find a 7' piece of oak threshold, and he had put two coats of polyurethane on the threshold on Sunday. Phil worked all day, removing the old threshold, and installing the new oak threshold. He did a beautiful job, even using wood to fill some gaps, whereas someone less professionally inclined would have used caulk. I paid him $800.00, which was exactly the estimate he gave me. Bob Bonanno's crew arrived early the following day, August 30. [A few days before, Bob's crew arrived and took down the old stoop, which was necessary before the carpenter could begin his work.] Bob's crew worked all day, building the new stoop, with pieces of granite on top, and stonework-facing on the single front step. Bob's crew even rearranged my brick walkway, between the stoop and the sidewalk, setting them in a new pattern and setting them in cement. Bob noticed an enclosed area of bricks, from the driveway to the back of the house, and some of the bricks were missing. He asked his crew to totally replace the bricks, and to set them in cement. There were no extra charges for the brick walkway or for the enclosed bricks from the driveway to the back of the house. I couldn't have asked for a better remodeling experience. Bob and his crew were professional, and their work was of exceptionally high quality. I would definitely use Bob Bonanno again. And then, when I got the bill, it included a $350.00 discount, so I ended up paying $2550.00. Adding in the carpenter's charges, I paid $3350 for the entire job. And I couldn't be more satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Bob Bonanno came shortly after I called to give an estimate for replacing my front stoop. He gave me three options: (1) would entail a quick repair, and would cost $1100.00. He then gave me two options to replace the front stoop: (2) would be without a building permit ($2900.00) and (3) would be with a building permit ($4900.00). These prices included all labor and materials, less the carpentry. The carpenter, Phil Perrin, came several days later to give me his estimate. [I had a threshold which was in bad shape, and needed to be replaced. The problem was compounded by the fact that the threshold not only was under the front door, but it went beyond it on both sides, because of a small foyer.] He didn't know if he could find a 7' piece of oak, and he didn't know how he was going to do it, but he gave me an estimate of $800.00. .

This company did everything they said they would do and much more. A few days after the job was done,my dehumidifier crapped out while the cement and stone were still drying, bobby bonanno showed up later that night with two of his kids in his truck and replaced mine with a much better one that took care of everything. this is typical of this company...go the extra mile, stay the course charge reasonable rates, and provide great service as well as followup. Its very clear his men, many of whom have been with him for years respect him and the customers as well. they take huge pride in their work and are really wonderful to work with. And just when I thought I couldn't be any more impressed I heard Mr Bonanno speak spanish to two of his men to clarify something then speak italian to three others ! This fellow sets a new standard for 'communication' . And did I mention his sense of humor when my 200 yr old drain pipe broke in the middle of the job ? You are in very good hands with this remarkable team . I cannot wait to have them return for some beautiful masonary work in the back yard.
Description of Work: meeting bobby bonanno was the best thing that ever happened to my house. he came, he measured, he gave me a quote and he conquored! the day of the job [waterproof basement, dig out trench with huge amount of old damaged cement and flooring, and paint all walls] he showed up with 7 workers and 3 trucks ready to go. It was unbelievable to see these men take out bucket by bucket [no bulkhead!] of stone, cement and damp ground day after day during the hottest week so far this summer. they are a team with tremendous leadership from bob bonanno and really work incredibly well together. I have already asked them to do another job in the fall I was so impressed and so happy. My cellar didn't have a DROP of water these last few days of downpours and I am thriulled with the end result...a beautiful basement, no moldy smell, and new white painted waterproofed walls that look pristine. What a difference.!

Tino did an excellent job and was a pleasure to work with. We changed our mind several times and he was very responsive and patient with us and did not hit us with any additional charges. They were faster than I expected and were extremely professional. The work and design was excellent -- he didn't push his ideas on us but did give us his advise and what he advised turned out perfect. I would highly recommend him to anyone doing this kind of work.

I called Bonanno Construction to estimate a masonry project--my cinderblock garage needs roof and wall repair. Not a huge or exciting project, but they responded the same afternoon to my call, and arranged to come over the next day (none of the other contractors I called came close to this speed). Bobby arrived right on time, and delivered the three things I expect from all business relationships: courtesy, competence, and consideration. He gave me a comprehensive and articulate description of the problem and the solution, and had an estimate to me the next day, as promised. It wasn't the lowest number I had heard, but it was justified and reasonable, and I had a lot more faith in his abilities than any others'. Ultimately, we put the project on hold, but when we're ready, they're the people we'll hire, with confidence. Thanks Bobby

From start to finish I felt I was in "good hands". Bobby suggested things that I never would have thought of. His well skilled masonry crew worked diligently for four days and always cleaned up after themselves. Luckily, the weather was great and they were able to complete the work as expected. It was amazing to see my landscape transform from old, tired, and boring into something really special. the fieldstone wall really makes the whole property pop and the paver paths give a really welcoming feel to my home. The extras that were made throughout the project like adding crushed stone and routing a gutter down the side of the house for better drainage and a much nicer look were the things I came to know as Bobby's trademarks. Things could have ended there and I would have been totally happy, but being a perfectionist, he noticed some problems with my front entry way and suggested a carpenter I could contact if I wanted to fix that as well. This project could have gone wrong in so many ways with other contractors, I am so grateful for the fantastic job executed flawlessly by Bobby and his crew and would recommend Bonanno Construction to anyone that needs or wants hardscaping done. They definitely have the "X" factor.
Description of Work: I needed a retaining wall build for my driveway and paver paths for the front and back walkways. I had gotten a couple of estimates and chose Bonnano Construction based on the great reviews here as well as my overall impression after meeting with Bobby. We discussed the job and the different looks I could obtain with regards to the materials used.

Bob came out and looked at our foundation (we had some what we though were worrisome areas); he was prompt and professional. He assessed our foundation and told us we didn't need anything done. He gave us some suggestions that we could do ourselves. We appreciated the candor - we would definitely call him for future projects.

The front stairs needed a lot of work. Two stairs were cracked and needed to be replaced and a third step slipped completely off the foundation. The landing was also in terrible shape and needed to be replaced. Bobby Bonanno came out and took a look at it. He gave me an estimate right there. He made his recommendations but also let me know what for sure needed to be done and what could wait. He knew we needed the work done asap but of course the weather had other ideas (rain for a week and half). He assured me we were at the top of the list and sure enough when the weather cleared they came out. There were three of them doing the work. They came with all the materials needed. Asked about an electrical outlet to use. When I said there is no outside but you can use the one in my hall. He was going to put the cord through the mail slot but didn't want to ruin my curtain (seriously what guy thinks of that, Bobby did, that's who!) so instead we just ran it and closed the door as much as possible. Then he needed a line to run the hose. We thought we would have to run the hose (to acid wash and mixing concrete) through my basement. He opened the window that was sealed shut but I found out the outside faucet that I thought didn't work, works! So he resealed the basement window. It took them about five hours to do all the work and clean up. The stairs are amazing. The landing is better then I thought it could be. Would recommend them in a heart beat.

Bobby came to the house to give an estimate on waterproofing. He arrived right on time and was freindly and professional at the same time. He gave us estimates for a french drain and grading outside the building. Then he proceeded to give us many convincing reasons that we should not do the work at all. I was impressed at both his advice and his willingness to walk away from over $4000 of work.

I am very pleased with this project. From providing an estimate to completion of the work Bobby was very professional. The rains during the spring of 2010 brought a lot of water into our basement. In spite of this, after inspecting our basement, Bobby actually recommended against spending as much as we would spend to install the french drain, unless we were prepared to completely finish our basement. As this is our intent we went ahead with the work. The crew came exactly when Bobby said they would and they completed the job in a single day. The work was disruptive and dusty, but Bobby warned that it would be, and it was actually more tolerable than he made it sound. The finished product looks fantastic, and while we have yet to have enough rain to truly test it, I feel confident now proceeding with finishing our basement. The lone blemish we encountered in having this work done was a minor electrical issue caused by the heavy draw of the crew's jackhammers while working on the project. While working, the crew tripped breakers a number of times, and also tripped at least one GFI in the basement. I didn't notice that everything was not as it should be until nightfall, long after the crew had departed. Half of our house was without power. After resetting all of the breakers, and searching for any other simple culprits, I called Bobby and he offered his assistance in bringing an electrician in to track down the problem. It turned out that a GFI I was unaware of had been tripped, and when it was reset, power to our house was restored. While I would have been happier if Bobby's crew had verified that power was working properly before departing, knowing that breakers and GFIs had been tripped while they were working, I was very pleased with Bobby's and the crew's professionalism in resolving the issue. I was ultimately able to get an electrician in more quickly than Bobby, but Bobby took responsibility and contacted multiple electricians to bring someone in as soon as possible. I asked Bobby if his crew had reported any issues while working, and while they had not, when he called them they readily acknowledged that breakers had been tripped and reset multiple times. I was pleased with how this project was completed, and happy with how Bobby handled an issue that arose after he had completed this project. I would use Bonanno Construction for a future project.

Great. Our first experience with Bobby Bonanno was when we called him to get an idea of cost and necessity of certain repairs to our basement and a large retaining wall. We were going to have to reroute our wastepipe as well as have some stabilizing work done on our 150+year old house plus the rains in March had loosened mortar between stones that now allowed water to come in at will. He cheerfully gave us an estimate and a suggestion of who to call for advice in some of our structural work. He suggested we call him when the other work was done. No pressure. We ended up hiring his suggestion to do the structural work and when it turned out there was an 11 foot section of sill that was rotten and had to be replaced in 3 steps we called Bobby to make sure the foundation was stable and to stabilize the parts that were looking like they had been hastily patched and might not be strong enough to hold the new sill in place. Bobby came right away and stabilized the base under the sill right along with the carpenters. Since I was going to have him do the sealing work in the basement in the future anyway his guys did it over the 3 days it took to replace the sill. This saved me some money compared to scheduling the jobs separately and I was grateful that Bobby offered the option to combine the jobs even though it was last minute in nature. Really nice cheerful man to work with!

Bobby and his entire company were the most professional service people with whom I've ever interacted. They called back quickly after my initial estimate and came out promptly at a time that was good for me to give an estimate on a job that really isn't that big for him. Bobby's estimate was well under the estimate provided by a competitor a few years ago and he tried to schedule the job as best as possible given the timeline we had for putting our place on the market. He was very busy with work, but squeezed us in because it worked best for us at that point in time. Bobby brought a team of 6-8 people out to our house on a Saturday morning for what he called the "Shock and Awe" treatment. Within an hour his crew had done the best job I could possibly imagine. This includes cleaning up after themselves, which is an often escapes other service providers. They even dyed the mortar used to fill the cracks and repoint the steps to match the other mortar that was still in place, thereby making the repairs virtually seamless. When it came time to pay up, the final bill was $200 less than the original estimate. He also gave the additional $250 discount for mentioning Angie's List, despite the fact that I had just mentioned it briefly at the end of a long-winded phone message. All in all, the only reason I'm hesitant to post this message is because I want him to be available for work on our new house next summer and I'm concerned he'll be even busier than he already is. In summary, pride in ownership and pride in workmanship shines through in every aspect of Bonnano Construction and I would be hard-pressed to imagine a better person and/or team to deal with.

We hired Bonanno Construction to install a french drain in our basement. This was part of a rather complication project which came unraveled and necessitated postponing the french drain repeatedly. Bobby was supportive throughout the entire process. He didn?t require an initial deposit, and once we were ready for him, he fit us into his busy schedule within 2 weeks. The job went smoothly, they were done in less than 2 days, and the results looked great. And Bobby was a pleasure to work with, very low-key, yet professional. We would definitely hire him again.

Unlike another company that suggested that we rip out the entire walk and rebuild it with different stone, Bobby Bonanno pointed out that there were really only two areas where the old flagstones had shifted and come loose. He suggested just lifting those areas, rebuilding the foundation, and re-laying the flagstones in the same pattern as before. When they did the actual work, Bobby told the men to remove the old grout from the rest of the walk and re-grout it along with the newly-laid flagstone, so that the whole walk would look consistent. He did not charge me for this. However, I wish the grout were a bit tidier.

We had Bobby Bonanno out to look at our basement, which was taking in water several months ago. He arrived promptly for the scheduled estimate and took the time to look at the area and explain several options for intervention. He was very honest and told us that the problem wasn't severe. We talked about the cost vs. benefit for each of the options and felt absolutely no pressure from Bobby to do the work now. Although we decided that the water seepage was not enough of a problem to spend the money at the time, we knew we would use Bonnano if we eventually went forward with foundation work. Since the original estimate, we have been tormented by many mice entering our basement through the cracks in the fieldstone foundation. I called Bonanno to ask about repointing to shut out mice, rather than focusing on the water entry. He reviewed the job over the phone and scheduled a time visit the house again, just to make sure that we were all on the same page about the work to be done and expectations. He again arrived exactly on time, reviewed the project with us, and planned to call a day or 2 later to schedule the work. This was the only point in the process that we had any problem. Basically, he got busy and forgot to call to schedule the job! I called a couple of weeks later and his wife fit us in for about 2 weeks out. Bobby and his crew came as planned to do the job, exactly on time. He brought a big crew and completed the job in one day. They did an amazing job. I could never have imagined that our crumbling, dirty, nasty fieldstone basement could look so good. They sealed it up beautifully and cleaned up after themselves. They even moved the large items in the basement so my husband wouldn't have to do it himself. We haven't seen any evidence of mice since then, so I hope it worked. He was confident that it will keep out the rodents, and took this element of the job very seriously!

We are thrilled with the job! (The lateness of posting this report is in no way a reflection of our satisfaction and instead wholly attributable to being the extremely busy working parents of a young child). Bobby and his team were fantastic throughout. I initially contacted Bobby in the winter because our steps were literally falling apart, and we were anxious that someone would get hurt. I sent him some pictures, we discussed the situation, and Bobby came out to meet me. Because the weather was too cold, it wasn't possible to rebuild the steps at that time, but Bobby and his team did a temporary patch that held together perfectly until the weather warmed up, just as he'd predicted. They then came back in the spring and finished up. In order to keep on schedule, he even came out on weekends (including Sunday) to make sure that the job was finished on time. The steps are gorgeous, and many of our neighbors have commented on how good they look. We were also extremely pleased with Joel, the carpenter he works closely with and recommended.

We got recommendations from several companies. Tino Bonanno was knowledgeable and their estimate was in the middle of the pack price-wise. They were responsive to questions and suggestions, and showed up exactly when they said they would. The crew was friendly and professional, and the "boss" (Tino) was there through the whole job. Once the job was finished, we asked for a small change/correction, and Tino and his crew showed up the next day to make it right (we covered the cost of materials). The quality of the job appears to be very good. Due to the stump removal, Tino said there may be some settling, and if so, just to call him and he'll come back and take care of it. Time will tell how the work holds up, but I'm very pleased with the company's responsiveness and work so far.
Description of Work: We had a large patio of pavers put in, about 700sqft. Prep work included removing a stump and a bunch of gravel.
